Our visit was to pick out a wedding dress for my daughter. This is the fourth wedding dress shopping trip I have been on in the last 5 years, 12 showrooms. All very successful! This was hands down our worst experience. They would not let us look at any of their showroom dresses on our own. They selected what we tried on and only from one designer. We have a flexible budget so this was very frustrating. There was only one attendant so we had to stay within her sight. We successfully selected and purchase a gown at our next appointment at Mira Couture. HIGHLY recommend, I recommend you go ANYWHERE but here. This was the only bridal store I went to when shopping for my wedding dress! I found the one here! Before making my decision I was able to come in to try on a few of my favorites from weeks before with someone else. The women who work here are professional and not pushy at all! They listen to the budget you have and definitely ask before even considering grabbing a dress out of budget. They help find ways to save money on many of the dresses, too. So glad I came here! Only complaint would be that booze is not allowed. My experience lacked the celebratory champagne that I know my mom and I would have loved- even if we brought it! But it's not allowed. Also, I want to suggest that they get a new "I said yes to the dress sign" because the letter board just isn't what many brides who post online want to use. It's outdated. I had my first dress appointment here, which seems like a rather stressful event. However, Alice in Ivory was amazing and made the experience so comfortable and fun. Meg is so kind and pulls a variety of dresses that will compliment your body at whatever budget you need. Dresses range from $2500 to $6000+. They have a wide variety of styles and fabrics to suit everyone and anyone. I was not pressured into buying anything and was able to see what kind of dresses I like and don't like to at least have a comparison for further appointments, even though I did find a dress I loved. I had the absolute best experience with Alexis! My mom, sisters and future mother in-law went to Alice in Ivory as our first stop of my whirlwind dress shopping day, and she have us HANDS DOWN the best experience. Alexis was accommodating, knowledgeable, and very patient with my large group/family asking her a million questions, while also throwing lots of different dresses and looks her way. She kept me calm and comfortable while she and I were in the dressing room together ( I was a bit more nervous then I expected) and she was honestly just the nicest, sweetest stylist that we worked with the entire day. She made me feel like a gorgeous bride to be and helped me when she could tell I wasn't loving something- we'd move right along and put me back into the dresses I loved. The store is impeccably designed and maintained. The dresses all shine, they are well maintained and easy to peruse when you're picking out ones to try on. When initially searching for my dream wedding dress I came across a dress from a designer that was no longer made or sold but I l absolutely loved it! I became so desperate to find that dress that I even reached out to the designer themselves to see if they had any in stock. I then saw that Alice in Ivory used to have an extremely similar dress from the same designer in their store and when I contacted them they had one sample of it left. Tara was my consultant and answered all of my questions via email prior to my appointment-this included even sending me photos of the dress in advance. During my appointment she made the process extremely comfortable and relaxing but also made it very special for my Mom and I. She was just as excited about the dress as we were! After purchasing the dress, Tara provided me with recommendations on where to get the dress altered and cleaned and even gave me two gift cards to one of the recommended shops. Before I was even engaged I knew I wanted to go to Alice in Ivory to try on a two-piece dress from Katie May's Noel & Jean line. I'd been stalking the dress for months until it was finally my time to try on the dress. I was really wishy-washy back and forth with Kaylee through email trying to coordinate an appointment for my mom, who was coming in from Michigan. I think we had about 30 emails between us by the time of the appointment! Kaylee ended up squeezing me in for a quick try-on of the dress before my mom came to visit (I couldn't wait!). The appointment was about 30 minutes and I tried on two or three options. It was a very quick in-and-out. Lee Anne was my associate, and I thought she was great at the appointment. When my mom and I came in to try on the dress, the vibe was a little different. I had a different associate (I can't remember her name,) and Kaylee was in the shop. The associate made me feel rushed. We were supposed to have an hour appointment, and she was under that impression that we weren't. I felt like she was trying to push me out of the dressing room. They also allowed a few window shoppers to come into the shop while I tried on dresses, which was off-putting. I knew that the Noel & Jean dress was the one. While ordering the dress, Kaylee chose sizes based on the measurements Lee Anne took at my first appointment. The top was a 14 and the skirt was a 16, which seemed very off to me considering I nearly fit in the sample size and probably only needed to size up a size or two. Being a naive and giddy bride, I didn't really think much of it. When the dress came in three and a half months later, I'd lost about 20 pounds (unexpectedly - due to cutting out alcohol!) and I was terrified to try on the dress. Lee Anne was in the shop that day and helped me into it. Sure enough, MUCH too big and I was very upset. We tried on the sample size dress just to remind myself what I looked like in the dress and it fit perfectly. Lee Anne was great and assured me that if the alterations shop I'd chosen didn't think they could fix the dress (which needed to be completely reconstructed), that she would figure something out for me. After three appointments and a month of alterations, the dress didn't fit me properly. I felt pressured by the seamstress that the dress was perfect. When I tried on my dress five days (5 DAYS) before leaving for my destination wedding, I contacted Alice in Ivory and Lee Anne called me. I was in tears, but she reassured me that she would figure something out. Kaylee and Lee Anne decided that they would give me the sample size skirt, they would have it professionally dry cleaned for me, and that I could have it altered. They suggested The Dress Doctor. Lee Anne called all of the vendors, told them the story so I didn't have to, and continued to reassure me that everything would be okay. Lee Anne is absolutely amazing, and I would recommend booking your appointment with her. While I was disappointed about the sizing issue of my dress, I think that Lee Anne went to great lengths to make it right and I couldn't be more appreciative of her. read more

Pros: the appointment was very personalized, and the whole shop was reserved especially for me--this was one of the only bridal salons I went to that did that! The set up of the salon was beautiful and well maintained. Cons: I felt that they didn't have a large enough selection of dresses in the $1500 through $2500 price range. Also, many of the styles here in this price range were a bit too bohemian for my taste, as I wanted something more classic (although that's not necessarily a con for other people). Very unpleasant experience and do not recommend this salon at all. Take your money elsewhere. Alice in Ivory was my very first wedding dress shopping experience and the staff could not have been ruder. I understand this is their day job but I wanted my day to be special and they couldn't have been less interested in my experience. Prior to my appointment, I received a harsh email listing out all the things I could not do while at the salon in bold and red. Every other store I visited called me and learned about my style prior to an appointment but Alice in Ivory could not be bothered. On top of their overall rude approach to my appointment, there wasn't any flexibility in number of guests allowed. At the time of my appointment, Chicago was fully re-opened without any Covid restrictions. I called and asked for one more guest above the 2 person limit and was very quickly rejected. I offered to have all guests wear masks and show proof of vaccination. I also offered to come in at an off time to allow other appointments to remain comfortable. Nothing was enough and when I asked to speak to the manager she refused to get on the phone with me. After all the back and forth, I decided to cancel my appointment. Less than 5 days later, they changed their rules to allow more guests so, in my opinion, the entire ordeal was unnecessary. While the dresses are beautiful, the staff's overall approach to such a special day was really upsetting and for that reason I think everyone should not waste their time here and give other salon's that truly care about their customers the business. read more

Unless you're a smaller size, I wouldn't recommend Alice in Ivory for a try-on. The dresses hardly fit me, and I'm a street size 8-12, which made it incredibly difficult to see what they would actually look like on me. (It was actually an adorable pantsuit with detachable skirt). We tried a number of great options in a range of sizes and styles. It was the most pleasant of all of my appointments. Go anytime, of course, because it's a great place. It might help to have eliminated some options before you arrive. I visited the store with my mom and maid of honor shopping for my wedding dress. The appointment reservation process was super easy online. We arrived to the space a few minutes early to find we were the final appointment of the day. Bri, our stylist, happily greeted us and got the appointment started right away. The space itself is beautiful and really adds to the overall shopping experience. We were encouraged to look through the dresses ourselves and indicate what we wanted to try on. The changing room was very spacious making the try on process easy and comfortable. The dresses are very fairly priced for well known bridal brands such as Haley Paige. Our budget was around 3500 and we had an easy time finding some beautiful options well within this range. Before I got an appointment at Alice in Ivory, I had been to about 10 other bridal shops in Chicago with no WOW factor. I knew what I didn't want, but couldn't seem to figure out what I did want for my wedding day. Little did I know, the perfect dress was waiting for me at Alice in Ivory! I had an incredible experience here! First of all -- the store is BEAUTIFUL. I came in on a snowy day and felt so comfy and cozy inside wearing the slippers that are provided at the front door. My stylist (I forget her name) was so nice and fun, striking the perfect balance between being laid back and letting me explore on my own and offering advice and presenting options. Worth stopping in! I did this store as my 2nd appointment. My consultant wasn't very helpful in selecting dresses so luckily I knew the style I liked. She also allowed me to chose dresses way over my price point.. which was slightly disheartening since they were amazing and out of my budget. Samples were the dirtiest I've seen compared to other shops I went to- probably due to the volume of appointments they have, but it was distracting. Overall the shop had a ton of selection and recognizable brands. Be careful to tell them your price point and check the dresses before you put them on. My consultant couldn't answer many of my questions on ship time or customization- she admitted she only worked there on the weekends for fun- which was kind of weird but she was perfectly nice and the appointment was fun. You guys: Lindsey at Alice in Ivory is so good. This was the second bridal shop we visited. After a disappointing day one (I tried on 12 dresses and felt pretty meh about all of them), I had resolved that the OMG moment I was anticipating was a naive notion, and that I would have to be content with just liking a dress very much. I was wrong. Lindsey greeted my mom and me graciously and asked about my wedding and my style before giving us a tour of the space. The store itself is magical and the selection is amazingly curated. It is clear that Kaylee has a relationship with every designer, and that the team has hand-selected every dress in the store. Even the gowns I didn't like at all felt very special. We were also allowed to bring all the gowns I chose into the dressing room at once, so we could edit the order in which we were trying on based on what we were liking on. The OMG moment came as I tried on the very first dress. And the second dress. Dress after dress I felt like could be the one. Lindsey was patient as we overanalyzed each one. I never felt rushed or pressured to continue; she gave thoughtful feedback without adding to the already diluted collection of opinions. She was knowledgable but not suggestive. She is clearly very good at what she does; I could sense that her style of service is dictated by the personalities in the room. I would imagine she would be very comfortable taking the lead with a group that was less opinionated and less sure of what they were looking for. Above all, she was incredibly kind. I ended up purchasing that first dress, a set of Rime Arodaky separates, and I am so pleased with them. We came back to the store later in the day on a whim to make the purchase, and Lindsay was so accommodating by letting us know exactly when she had a break between appointments. I recently went to Alice in Ivory to try on dresses for my Wedding. I worked with the stylist, Grace. She was so wonderful. I had four people with me and she really elevated our experience. She made me feel super comfortable while trying each dress and was even snapping photos for me on my phone. The dresses I tried on were all super intricate. Grace did such a good job of pointing out all of the details on the dress that I would have missed. She was super knowledgeable about all of the dresses I tried and was in no way pushy at all. I cannot say enough about how wonderful my experience was with Kaylee at Alice and Ivory. First of all, Kaylee was so responsive from the moment I emailed until my dress was purchased. Even after when I had questions about alterations and how to travel with my dress, she was full of ideas and thoughts. My appointment with her was at 6pm on a Sunday. For someone who works weekends in catering, Sunday is the last day you want to do anything, especially at 6pm. Kaylee was so accommodating and patient with me. She asked for me to send photos/names of dresses ahead of time to get an idea of what I would like. She had tons of dresses waiting for me based on what I had described. I was so impressed with her attention to detail. We had just come from another shop and I was feeling pretty disappointed. I wasn't finding anything I loved and they hadn't done their homework the way Kaylee did. It was a bit overwhelming. So when I walked in to dresses Kaylee had hand-picked for me, it made feel so much better instantly. She had listened to me and took the extra step to personalize my experience. Now the dresses. I am moved to write this review due to the sheer charm and hospitality of Alice In Ivory and it's owner (Kaylee). I'm fairly certain I would have bought a tinfoil dress just to support this beautiful shop and it's beautiful owner--and lets not forget Kaylees mother, who's sweetness welcomed us immediately upon walking through the door (without an appointment mind you--though I don't recommend walking in if you're able to make an appointment simply out of respect for the store). Having had quite an emotionally draining day of wedding dress shopping, my entourage and I were feeling more than a little defeated due to countless abrasive and rude sales women all over the city. I (the bride) cried in a dressing room at one point because of how terrible some of these women were to me and my party. By coincidence or an act of serendipity, a customer in one of these horrible bridal shops saw how poorly the sales women made me feel and told me that she had just come from an adorable little shop up north called Alice In Ivory, and she suggested I go--if only to have a good experience and not end what was supposed to be a fun and beautiful day on such a sour note. I juggled between saying screw it and going to get margaritas at a bar or making the trip to Alice In Ivory. I'm SO SO SO happy I chose to go to this shop. I'm uncertain if it was luck and timing that lead to such great service and the eventual purchase of a beautiful and perfect gown for my wedding day, or if the shop and it's owner are always so sincere and wonderful, but I would take the chance no matter what if you are reading this review. THE DRESSES: The dresses are truly unique, artsy, classy, and beautiful while maintaining eloquent structure and quality. The prices range from $500-$5000 as far as I could tell. Having been to many other shops I found that the sales people would work hard not to show me their lower priced dresses OR talk me out of them--even if they could see how much I liked them. Kaylee and her mother did no such thing. They were honest and sincere. They showed me a $500 dollar gown and praised the way it fit me, and they showed me more expensive gowns of up to $4000 and were honest if they didn't look that great. POINT: They were making the experience truly about finding the best fit for me in every way. In the end I spent $1800 give or take and got a dress I adore. I cannot rave enough about how proud I am of Kaylee for creating such a beautiful environment to help empower women and make them feel special on such an important day. Long overdue review. First, I purchased my dress from Alice in Ivory in November 2019. I went to maybe 10-12 other bridal stores previously in my search to find the dress (yes I'm that girl). My experience with Alice in Ivory was amazing from start to finish. My bridal specialist was so helpful in picking out dresses. She let me keep re-trying my dress as I was trying to decide between my final two. Not every bridal shop is so nice. I didn't feel rushed at all. I cannot remember her name now, but she was so personable, friendly, and I actually felt so comfortable which isn't always easy when you're having someone dress you while you're in your undies. My original 2020 wedding date was postponed to June 2021. So when I picked up my dress I just put it in my basement to stay there for nearly a year. When I finally opened the bag this year to get my dress altered, I realized that the shop never gave me the veil that I purchased. I called the store immediately and they gave me no issues whatsoever with sending over a new veil at no charge with free shipping to my house so that I had it in time for my wedding. I thought that was so nice and I had felt like a total dummy for never checking my dress when I picked it up. I was scared of maybe looking at it too much, and falling out of love with it. Happy to say that did not happen. I loved my dress so much and I was complimented by every single person at my wedding that the dress was stunning.
