I was delighted to see such intricate applique work and finishing on the dresses, and veils here, and my daughter had a hard time narrowing down her favorites to try on. We also appreciated the variety of materials, styles and sizes for many different body types. The consultant we worked with, Elena, was lovely and super sweet to work with. Flora & Lane helped make my wedding day magical! Trying on dresses was very stress-free. I went in with two dresses in mind that I wanted to try, and after discussing what I like/dislike, they pulled a dress I hadn't even considered and it ended up being perfect. I was anticipating needing alterations because I'm short and my proportions don't typically fit in standard sizes, but they took my measurements in the store and it fit like a glove! I cannot recommend them more highly. The designs are beautiful, the staff is incredibly helpful, and I could not recommend them more highly. I got some extra fabric for one of my bridesmaids to make my dog a matching outfit and it was one of the highlights of the day. I had such an excellent experience at Flora and Lane! This was following an absolutely awful experience at another place and it meant a lot to me the Sara was so incredibly kind and supportive of my vision for my wedding dress. She totally hyped me up throughout the appointment and she seemed really down to earth, which I appreciated. Their dresses are absolutely gorgeous and seem high quality to me. Each one was so unique and I felt so beautiful through the entire appointment. The dresses are also on the more affordable end of things or maybe an average cost for a wedding dress (between like $1500 and $2000 ish), but to me, they look expensive and super nice. Even if I don't purchase my dress here (I'm still deciding), I am so glad I made the trip to Chicago to try on dresses here and I will always remember the experience I had here. I flew up for the day from San Diego to the San Francisco location (which has no Yelp) with my crew to try on my dream dresses, with hopes that the experience would live up to the hype in my mind - and it did! When I came into the bridal studio from Florida last year, I was greeted with a friendly and fun stylist and my name on their entry board. I did have a dress in mind that I had been staring at for over 6 months. My stylist let me try on whatever dresses I wanted within the hour I was allotted and she took her time with me. There were so many beautiful dresses it was really hard to choose from. My heart was set on the Meadow Teal dress and I knew it was the one when I put it on. I've always been non-traditional and I knew in my mind I was not going to wear white wedding dress. The dress was a beautiful surprise to everyone who didn't know it was coming. I can't say it enough how beautiful it made me feel. Every dress I tried on didn't feel right and I kept coming back to this one. I love it so much and I'm so happy to call it mine! They took my measurements and told me the bustle would be included. It came in a beautiful box and packaging that I honestly still have because I don't want to get rid of it and keep it with the dress! I worked with a local alteration specialist to raise the bust line because I don't have a lot to fill out the space and wasn't super comfortable with how deep the chest opening was, but I already knew that when I bought the dress. I also raised the dress up a little bit in the shoulder and I had my alteration specialist create sleeves out of the cape sleeve which made it feel more unique to me and made it exactly what I wanted. You fill out a questionnaire ahead of time about what kind of styles you like and they select numerous dresses for you to try on. They are patient and helpful with cinching the dresses during the try-on so you get a feel for how it will look. I had no idea where to start when it came to wedding dress shopping - I get overwhelmed and fed up easily with shopping in general so I was definitely nervous about this process. I knew that I wanted a 'non-traditional' dress that felt more 'me'. When I saw the unique, beautiful dresses at Flora & Lane, I was over the moon. After looking online, I happened to head out to Chicago for the holidays and set up an in person appointment to try on dresses - this was truly a game changer for me. The staff was friendly, easy to work with and responsive in their emails throughout the process. While a little bit spendier, I truly think these dresses are worth it! I am beyond disappointed. I made it very clear to my stylist that I wasn't interested in a dress that showed a lot of cleavage (just a personal comfort thing). She assured me that they could bring the plunging neckline of the dress I loved up to my specifications. When they sent me progress photos, I pointed out that the neckline didn't look raised. They assured me it had been. When I got my dress, the neckline was still plunging, showing alllll of the girls. And now, after they "custom measured" me, there was very unflattering bulging fabric around my midriff. Flora & Lane assured me that once my seamstress brought up the shoulders, both issues would be resolved. Nope, even with alterations, the gals are on full display and the bulging is very visible. They then tried to tell me that the neckline was to my specifications (a lie), that my seamstress could simply close the neckline (not enough fabric for that), and that the bulging fabric was because their dresses are a "standard sizing" after taking all of my measurements during my fitting and very much leading me to believe otherwise. Their best solution for the bulging was to have my seamstress completely removed large sewn-on appliques and re-attach them, a process she told me would be a time-consuming nightmare. Flora & Lane told me this was "feasible for an experienced seamstress", implying that my seamstress was somehow not up to snuff despite doing amazing work. During the tedious and unfriendly process of trying to work with their customer service, I was told to shop around for a less pricey seamstress (mine charges average prices for my area), that I should have asked for a higher neckline had I wanted it (I absolutely asked for full coverage and indicated my desired neckline with measurements in store), and that I shouldn't add a panel to the dress for my comfort because it would compromise the original vision of the dress, as if it's not my gown to do with as I choose. After much pushing on my end, the best offer I got from them was for either a refund on the neckline alteration plus $100 off the dress, which wouldn't even cover the alterations to fix the chest and bulging fabric, or for them to rush remake my dress a little over 2 months out from my wedding, which I don't trust them to do properly and wouldn't leave my seamstress enough time for alterations. All I asked from them was to cover the cost to fix their errors, $500, and they couldn't even do that. Which sounds to me like they value the cost of remaking my dress at less than $500, under a fifth of what they charged me for it. My mother's theory on this is that they order pre-fabricated dresses and just attach the appliques and lace in house. Oh, and they'd expect me to return the first dress back to them should I choose the remake option. I had followed Flora & Lane online for years and even though their prices doubled in the last few years, I still couldn't picture myself getting married in anything else. But after this terrible experience with them, interacting with their lackluster customer service, and being insulted and gaslit by them, I would never recommend them to a prospective bride. Save your money and go with the seamstress on Etsy making nearly identical gowns to theirs for a tenth of the price. Update: After I posted my review on four different sites and threatened to file a dispute with my bank, they panicked and sent me the cost of the needed alterations plus their original offer of refunding the fee they'd charged me to raise the neckline (as they should considering the work wasn't done correctly) and $100 off the dress "as a gesture of good will." Their good will was then immediately undercut by telling me I'd once again misunderstood a comment in one of their previous emails, gaslighting me one last time for good measure. (I'll update again at a later date with photos and screenshots, after the wedding.) read more

A few eyebrows were raised when family/friends found out my daughter and I drove to Chicago from Oklahoma for an "unconventional wedding dress". Twice! I would do it all over again. If you are not a conventional bride or are looking for a dress other than white, (they do have some in white) please do yourself a favor and check out Flora and Lane. The staff is wonderful. The space is set up to where the bride has an intimate, one on one experience. All attention was on her without any outside distractions. We even left the back way so we would not disturb another appointment which was very thoughtful. The prices were up front and very reasonable. The variety of dress styles and colors will satisfy everyone's taste. Great communication while we were waiting for the custom dress. I do not have anything negative to say. THE BEST DECISION!! I truly looked high and low for the perfect wedding dress for my woodland fairy themed wedding and I could not find what I was looking for anywhere in my area (I'm located in Denver CO), and then I stumbled upon Flora & Lane through tik tok actually and I was IN LOVE!! F & L dresses are unlike anything I have seen and are so unique and just absolutely gorgeous! So my mom and I hopped on a plane to Chicago to get my dream dress. My experience in the shop was magical! The lovely lady who helped me try on dresses was so kind and made the experience so enjoyable :) As soon as I tried on THE dress I knew I had found the perfect look for my dream fairy wedding! It was absolutely worth every penny I spent and I am so grateful for the Flora & Lane team for all their efforts and the beautiful dresses they create, they are truly one of a kind! They accommodated my request of adding some extra mesh for additional coverage as that was my only worry that I felt supported in my dress (I am a size DD in the chest area). I had heard they worked with you to make your day perfect, They offered to give me $500 dollars for the brand new dress and I would need to order the new one at full price. Highly, highly recommend Flora and Lane and designer/owner Catherine Yatana. Dresses. If you are looking for bohemian, relaxed while still elegant, FAL will have options for you. The quality and design of the lace (the lace!!!), the delicacy of the craftmanship....these dresses feel more expensive than they are. If ballgown/princess is your thing, FAL is likely not going to be a fit. I wanted a dress to pair with a flower crown, espadrilles and natural make up - and the Giselle gown was perfect. Most of them do seem to be designed for a smaller frame, but that is made clear on the website. Customer Service. As soon as you walk into FAL for your appt, you are warmly greeted and made to feel special. Once I decided on the Giselle, Catherine was careful to take all my requests for alterations, which included adding fabric to the boddess for more coverage, removing some of the fabric from the skirt, modifying the strips, etc. In short, she was happy to make any change to the dress that I needed and very patient to answer all my questions. I also had an expedited timeline that Catherine committed to meeting. I did pay for "rush" service, and had the dress with a few weeks to spare. Location. I drove an hour each way to the FAL studio four times (initial appt, two fittings and pick up) and never had an issue with parking. It is clearly visible from a major street (Western), so I can't imagine how anyone who has ever driven in the city would have an issue with location. It is a proper store front shop - the building is commercial and residential, it's not "in an apartment building." Totally worth the drive. Also, the studio is just so beautiful and calming - perfect setting for the 1:1 consultation that Catherine does so well. read more

IF YOU ARE BIGGER THAN A SIZE 4 DO NOT TRY DRESSES HERE I've tried on dresses at 4 other stores (Alice in Ivory, BHLDN, Grace Loves Lace, and David's Bridal) and I never had an experience as traumatizing as this. First of all, the store is extremely difficult to find as it doesn't have a sign out front and it's in an apartment building - likely because they don't have a retail license. When I got in after walking the block, Catherine explains that she only has size 10s which I don't foresee being a problem. I'm a size 12-14 in regular clothes and 14-18 in bridal sizes. Other stores have a really helpful solutions to make the smaller sizes work, Anna Campbell has detachable sleeves and BHLDN uses paneling. Catherine tries to get me to try on the Giselle which is not my style but I knew it was because it was stretchy and open in the back. Instead I try on the Laguna. I could barely get it up my thighs let alone zip it up an inch (see photo of front). Next I try on the Novella. OMG. I couldn't even get the sleeve over my forearm and this part is the worst: Instead of providing any solution to see what this dress would look like on me Catherine says "so let's move on to the next dress." I almost died. Even though she does custom sizing this dress was basically excluded from me. I couldn't believe it! I have never had a bridal consultant say that to me. If she had more forethought she could make the sleeves detachable or have slits in the sleeves for the dress ppl are trying on. I was so overwhelmed, I started to cry. I asked her to give me a moment, and I ended the appointment early. I couldn't stop crying. I told her she should have more sizes. I told her that she was being discriminatory. Instead of apologizing, she went on the defense: this is how the dresses were, there was info on the website. And then she proceeded to show me on the site where it says they only have a size 10. (I've tried on a size 10, this is not a size 10). I was still crying. I told her she should have a sign out front for the store. She showed me on her phone the email where they have a map with the store (!!!!) I could not believe it I was absolutely floored by the customer service. I left the appointment feeling like garbage. Catherine may make beautiful dresses but she does not have good people skills. A crying woman is giving you direct feedback on your product and your giving a defense? How Catherine behaved showed a very big lack of professionalism and maturity. I was hoping she might send an email apologizing or trying to make up for it. She didn't. I hope FAL can be more inclusive in the future or at least more empathetic. I don't know how it can survive if it doesn't. read more

I am so glad that I found this beautiful boutique!! I was having such a hard time finding dresses that I liked and the dress shopping experience was so stressful until I walked in to Flora & Lane. The head designer/owner Catherine Yatana is amazing and immediately made me feel completely relaxed and her dresses are gorgeous and so unique. I was looking for the bohemian style for my outdoor wedding and this is exactly what I found in her store. They are each designed by her and you can tell how much love she puts in to each of her dresses. They are beautifully crafted with gorgeous lace and my dress had the most beautiful beading I have ever seen. She was also super helpful and supportive through the entire process of alterations. She spent so much time with me to make sure the dress was perfect. I definitely recommend this studio, especially if you are into the bohemian style as well.
