First of all, let me start out by saying that I went to DOC for years. That is, until I realized they were only trying to upsell me on everything in the store. It was crazy! I'm from Michigan and my last eye doctor was good, but nothing spectacular. When I noticed my contact stash running low, I looked up a few reviews on Yelp for eye doctors. I found Wink, and so the story begins...
I called to make an appointment, I work 9 to 5 so I needed something later or on the weekend. They're open until 8 pm during the week!! This was great news for me! They offered a 7pm appointment for that night and took it. As soon as I walked in, they had me fill out a tiny piece of information and asked about insurance, which I do have. One of my favorite parts? As soon as Dr. Beute took me into her office, she sat down and asked me questions about my vision. She didn't do this while running around or while doing other things, she sat down and had a short conversation with me. AWESOME! Not many people do this anymore so that was great. She did the typical testing so no issues there. She also explained everything very thoroughly and made sure I was comfortable at every moment. And I was given a prescription for allergy drops!! Others doctors told me it was always my solution, but nope! The drops work wonders and I'm so thankful this was finally pointed out to me. A few minutes later we were finished! On to the contacts...
I walked in knowing I would want both contacts and glasses, and also knowing my insurance only covered one. I was going to have the insurance pay for contacts, not glasses. Well, Brian first asked if I would be getting contacts and/or glasses there or somewhere else. No assumptions were made here folks! Of course I was buying them there :) I definitely understand people who want to buy them elsewhere, and they apparently do too. Brian recommended I have the insurance pay for glasses because it will save me money. Wow, they were interested in saving me money? Yep!! I needed to leave that night and go back to order my contacts and glasses a few weeks later, which they had no issues with. They even gave me a few trial pairs of contacts to hold me over.
So a few weeks later was last week on Tuesday night. I called and was told I didn't need an appointment, that I could just walk right in. Great! I walked in, he helped me pick out a pair of glasses... And he definitely helped. I must have tried on about 20 pairs until we came to the realization that the first pair was the best pair. I told him i didn't care about price, but he didn't pick out the most expensive frames in the store. They weren't cheap, but I wasn't looking to save money here. Been there, done that, it never works out with glasses.
There were other customers coming in and out, but he was so concerned he kept apologizing to me... I wasn't in a rush and the doctor was there so she was helping out as well. No apologies were needed. I paid and was out of there in about 30 minutes. Quick, awesome, loved it! They also gave me a whole box of trial pairs assuming I was out of the others, which I was...I expected to wait at least a week for my glasses and contacts to come in...
That Friday, I was called and told they were both in! Talk about quick!! I picked them up Saturday morning, had them fitted, and received a case, a cloth, and cleaner with my glasses!!
For going into an eye doctor, knowing your eyes will be poked a prodded, my experience was fantastic. I have never been anywhere related to health where the people there are so personable. I will definitely go back when I need to and I highly recommend Wink to everyone.
P.S. The dog, Mischka, is so adorable. If you happen to go in when she's there, don't be startled by here size! She's a sweetheart! read more
