Jo immediately put me at ease & spent time with me for my intake. i felt like a friend not a number in a doctors office. my doctors appointment with dr becherer was too notch. i worked with dylin, who basically has become eyewear rock & picked out glasses that day. I came back for contact lens lessons & dylin could not have been more patient as i struggled time after time to simply get a contact in my eye - but to quote him "i persevered." i saw dr patel for the contacts who was also great. The staff has gone above and beyond to help me, especially given chronic migraines. The first four visits were OK. The last time I was there instead of doing my eye examination, they put me through some test that I didn't need. When I got my final eye exam examination, I selected the frame and sent for eyeglasses to be made. The eyeglasses came out with the wrong prescription when I requested the doctor to revise my prescription she made it look like I was guilty of how the prescription came out. They pretended to send the glasses to be remade and when I came back, I discovered that they never sent them out. I know that because the glasses came back with the same marks that they put when they try to send it back to be remade. I paid $1100 for glasses that I cannot use. I have resorted to go back to my ophthalmologist and have him examine my eyesight again to have new glasses being made. The quality of the frames that they sell are awesome but they're lacking on customer service. They will sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo if they have to. Very disappointed. read more

Sad to have to leave a 1 star review as I really wanted this to be my future eye doctor but the amount of problems were beyond fixing. 1. Very scammy sales behavior. Pressured into doing out of pocket options. And when it came to glasses plenty of options were added to the bill without an itemized detail of the costs until you asked to pay the final amount. It was as bad as a stereotypical salesman. 2. Extremely aggressive with forcing people to wear masks when no mask mandate is in effect. 3. I opted out of text message sales notifications so they didn't even tell me when my glasses came in. I had to reach out and found they had them for nearly 2 weeks. No call or email to let me know. 4. Picking up glasses is almost as much of a hassle as an initial exam as they make you make an appointment. I would not recommend this place and will not be back for any reason even though the actual eye exam went well. read more

I went here a little less than a year ago and normally i don't like to leave bad reviews but i figured my review might help someone. i will start by saying that the store is very clean and has a great selection of frames. the woman at the front desk was very sweet and helpful, so that part of my visit was fine-- the wait to see the doctor was a little long but i understand that sometimes eye appointments take longer than expected. i had an appointment with Dr Angela Kumar to get new contacts. the ones i had at the time were the most expensive of the daily contacts at most places and since i was more used to wearing contacts, i wanted to change to some i could actually afford. long story short, not only did Dr Kumar basically refuse to let me even try on a different kind of contacts (apparently they would be too uncomfortable because i was used to the fancy ones, though i wish she'd let me decide that for myself), she also changed my prescription to one and a quarter points weaker than my previous prescription. i tried to tell her politely that maybe i just wasn't used to the 'right' prescription but i couldn't see very well, and she basically said 'yeah, that's what it is' and sent me on my way. i was honestly about to just leave because i thought i was being crazy but i decided to try advocating for myself one more time and she raised the prescription by .25 for me. it was still way too weak. they tried to make me buy a years worth of the most expensive contacts they had in stock *in the wrong prescription* but thankfully i had enough sense to just pay for the exam and go somewhere else. the second optometrist i went to listened to everything i had to say and even helped me by making a list of contacts and prices-- i ended up with the correct prescription and bi-weekly contacts which feel the same but cost about 3x less. maybe i should have been even more firm but i felt rude and like a bother already. i feel bad saying it, but i would not recommend Dr Kumar, she made me feel like what i was experiencing was wrong and that i was being annoying. not sure why i'm the only one who had a bad experience-- maybe she was having a bad day or didn't like that i had colored hair at the time :-/ read more

What can I say, I've been wearing contacts and glasses for 20 years and over the years I've never had an eye exam as comprehensive and pleasant as with Dr. Slusky. I truly felt that she cared about the health of my eyes and left no stone unturned during and after the examination. She was even kind enough to send me home with samples from 3 different contact manufacturers so that I could test them all out to see which was my favorite. I have dry eye disease that runs in my family and once I informed her, she was able to walk me through all my scans and tests to insure me I'm taking the proper steps in caring for my eyes. I have been putting off my first eye exam for the last couple years as a man in my 40's I finally came to the realization it was time. I have been using my cell phone camera to read menus and check and finally was fed up . I was referred to Dr Slusky from a friend in the business. I really didnt know what to expect. I ended up that I had a combination of presbyopia and a slight condition. After Dr went over all my options regarding types of occupational . Oringinally I thought I only needed glasses for very close but Sr Slusky showed me how I can read my computer but I was stressing my eyes to read. I've been a patient/customer since 2017 and regret not writing a positive review sooner. As an optometry patient, I appreciate most that I am treated like an individual here. Dr Slusky considers my personal circumstances (line of work, family medical history, etc.) when making recommendations and thoroughly explains all pros and cons of any choices I'm given. She never rushes the exam and answers all my questions without sparing the details. As a glasses customer, I appreciate most the high level of service. The opticians make great recommendations based on any combination of feature/aesthetic/costs (including all the complexities of insurance) criteria you throw at them. On the rare occasion something does go wrong, they also handle all warranty communications with the manufacturer. If I had to pick a negative, it's that this place is more expensive than the competition, but I think it's worth the premium level of service and quality. read more

Fantastic for my 3 year old! She threw wood chips in the air and got something in her eye . I was really worried about taking her to the doctor because she was terrible about letting us look at her eye at home. Even though the doctor schedule is full they worked us in that morning after I called. The doctor just did fantastic with her! I really appreciated how the office had toys and eyeglasses and squeeze pouches for the kids. I would happily go back to see dr. Slusky and recommend her any day of the week, so great with the kids. I had the pleasure of having a glasses and contacts exam with Dr. Kumar. I was pleasantly surprised that they have a retinal scanning machine which mean no need for dilation! Dr. Kumar was incredibly thorough in explaining everything she was doing and what the retinal scan showed. I was incredibly impressed with how she gave me multiple brands of contacts to try out before I committed to buying them long-term. The rest of the staff were very professional and knowledgeable. I picked up this optical center based on review with a long list provided by my insurance. When I visited the center, I was impressed by a friendly atmosphere. Then I was called by an technical expert to check my eyes and took some photos of my eyes. The most impressed service is from Dr. Joanna Slusky. She is a so devoted OD to her patients. She made great efforts to provide the best prescription on my eyes. My first glass from her prescription truly fits my eyes. The optician was also friendly and experienced. The lab worked with Halsted Eye Boutique provided high quality of lenses. The lenses fit to the glass perfectly. I normally like to pick up good quality frame and bring the frame with me. The store doesn't have any problem on that. Based on my first time successful experience with Halsted Eye Boutique, I decided to come again for my glasses in future. Recently I visited Halsted Eye Boutique for my eye glass. This is my first visit after the Covid-19 Pandemic. Again I received high quality services. Dr. Slusky still made great efforts to pick up the best prescription for me. She always considered quality first even used longer time. I waited for months to check the prescription and I feel comfortable for the new glass. Now I can confidently say, this is another excellent prescription. This time, I would like to mention a few things. First, on that day, the center just used a new system, thus, it took tremendous time for working out an invoice. The lady was so patient, she just continuously worked on the system. She finally finished the work around 2:30 pm. She didn't go to lunch until she finished the work. The center demonstrated a team spirit at that time. A coworker came more than once for helping out. Sometime, mistake could happen. The important issue is that how to deal with mistake. In my recent visit, when I picked up my glass, I noticed problem. The representative told me they would take care of the problem. The manager contacted me to make sure it will be taken care of. She also followed the case to make sure things move forward smoothly. When I picked up my glass second time, the problem has been fixed. Again the quality is very good. I had a great experience here. The staff was efficient, courteous and very friendly. The eye exam itself was thorough and accurate, and Dr. Slusky was incredibly polite and affable. Once my general exam was over, I never felt overly pressured to purchase a new set of reading glasses. Before I left the office, Dr. Slusky gave me two different written prescriptions for something stronger, should I feel like my current glasses aren't enough. One was for something called, "progressives," which sounds like something I could use in the future. Luckily, everything is good right now. Other than prescription reading glasses, I don't need contacts or need to see an ophthalmologist. That's an ordeal yet to come. read more
