two pieces of fried chicken
Daniel M.

Updated 9/18/19: something has changed with the boneless wings. They are NOT good. It's like a poorly breaded chicken breast, fried, and then diced into bite size pieces. I will not be eating these anymore unless something happens. I love wings to go. The boneless are great. The traditional are great if I get them extra crispy. I don't really like a soggy wing. The numerous flavors are all pretty great too, buffalo garlic is my current fav. Honestly, I prefer W2Go over its neighbor (crickets) lately. They have it on point right now!

10 piece combo with cheese fries
Andrew N.

Ever since my favorite chicken wings restaurant closed down in Huntsville I have been looking for a new place close by to get some good wings. Wings to Go has been a good place to fill my chicken wing craving. There wings are pretty crispy and overall I'd say they are average but always consistent so I know I can count on them for some good wings. The only downside about the wings is that sometimes they can vary in size and be pretty small. The fries that come with them are always very crispy and really good topped with shredded cheese. They don't have table service so you go up to the counter to order and they never have a long line. I never have to wait long to place my order and the longest I have ever had to wait was around 8 minutes when the place had a decent amount of traffic during a lunch. When going in to eat for lunch the prices are very good. I usually order the 10 wings combo that comes with an order of fries and a drink for about $9. Overall I'd say this is a good place to stop in and eat some good priced wings for lunch.

I've never been disappointed by their boneless wings (haven't personally tried the traditional, but my friends keep coming back for some reason?).

And the reason is simple: Jaime. From the moment I stepped up to the counter, Jaime had the kind of warm, genuine energy that could brighten even the dullest day. Not the scripted "Hi, welcome in!" you hear everywhere--this was real, attentive, dialed-in hospitality. Jaime treated every customer like they weren't just placing an order, but like they were guests at their table. But here's where the glaze really hits: Jaime didn't just hand over food. Jaime delivered an experience. The order was taken flawlessly--no rushing, no sighs, no mistakes. Jaime knew the menu like a seasoned chef, recommending items with the confidence of someone who has tasted greatness and wants you to taste it too. Their enthusiasm for the food actually made my food taste better. When my meal came out, it was hot, fresh, and somehow plated with the kind of care you don't normally expect from fast casual. And right behind it? Jaime, checking in with a smile that wasn't forced at all--just pure pride in making sure I was taken care of. That's the part that really stuck with me. Anyone can serve chicken. But not everyone serves people the way Jaime does.

My final work travel stop this week wrapped up with a mighty fine meal at Prohibition Rooftop Bar &…read moreGrill in Madison, Alabama. The restaurant sits just a stone's throw from the ballpark where the Rocket City Trash Pandas play, so the whole place already has a fun, lively atmosphere before you even sit down. Now given the name "Prohibition," I half expected someone to knock on the door and ask for a secret password like it was 1927. Back in those days, enjoying a drink required secrecy, dim lights, and maybe a jazz band playing in the corner. Today, things are a little easier... though for this non-drinker, my order was simple: water on the rocks, hold the lemon. I prefer my water about 100 proof for maximum flavor. My boss and coworker grabbed seats at the bar while we looked over the menu. We kicked things off with the Pork Belly Burnt Ends and the Pork Bao Buns. Let me tell you, those Pork Belly Burnt Ends were an absolute masterpiece. They came out crisp and seasoned just right with a little spicy kick. Served with raw carrots, homemade pickles, and lettuce wraps to bundle those little jewels together--downright tasty. If food had a Hall of Fame, these would already have a plaque on the wall. The Pork Bao Buns were good as well, but they simply couldn't match the grand slam the Pork Belly Burnt Ends delivered. For my main course, I ordered the Smoked Wangs with the Jala Mango seasoning and a side salad. The wings were delicious--cooked and seasoned to perfection. Every bite was solid. No bootlegging required. Prohibition definitely hit it out of the park today. Between the great food, the great service, and the fun atmosphere near the ballpark, this place is a must-stop for locals or anyone just passing through Madison. Our waitress tried pretty hard to convince us to order dessert, so I'm guessing their sweets are just as flavorful as everything else on the menu. The only problem I had today? I couldn't finish my meal. I was absolutely stuffed. If this had been the 1920s, the only crime committed here would've been leaving food on the plate. Great food. Great service. I'll gladly return--though next time I may need a little more room in the stomach.

When we got into the parking lot, we thought they were closed - not a car in sight. But I saw a tiny open sign and insisted that between that, and the hours on their website, they must be open. My friend and I insisted differently. She went in and, guess what? They really were open! When we walked in and saw a sign for happy hour. Bonus! We were set. We each bought a draft for a dollar off and purchased a few of the $5 apps. The garlic knots are noted in several reviews so that was a no brainer. We also ordered the beer cheese with pretzels and our friends ordered the spinach dip with tortilla chips. I can't tell you how many beers there were, let's just say plenty. The beer was icy cold, perfect for another 95 degree day. Yelp didn't disappoint, the garlic knots were soft, pull apart deliciousness. The accompanying pizza sauce was just ok. The beer cheese as good. The accompanying pile of soft pretzel bites would have been better without so much salt. I didn't try the spinach dip. Nobody else seemed very thrilled with it. It came with tortilla chips - I don't know what kind they were but even they didn't look good. Beer Hog is designed for fun. Pool tables, dart boards, a small arcade, indoor corn hole and an array of daily activities including Harry Potter trivia night, line dancing night and live music on the weekend. There was quite a bit of patio area which will be great once our inferno weather pattern breaks. There are a couple rooms available to rent for various size events. We spoke with one of the 3 owners. The three of them designed and built out the entire interior. The owner we spoke with told us how they built the bar and every table in the building. They did a great job identifying and executing the unusual repurposing of the old library. Now that school is restarting, patrons need to mindful of afternoon traffic. If you don't know Hughes Road, just know it's a zoo when all of the schools let out. We'll definitely be back. The garlic knots alone are enough to guarantee that.
