I am leaving this review in hopes that the business owner and staff will use it as an opportunity to improve services for our community. Over the past three months, I made repeated attempts to connect with Learning Tree for an intake appointment. I left multiple voicemails and submitted the online intake form, and received no response at any point. After months of silence, I decided to stop by in person while running errands nearby. When I arrived, the front office was unstaffed. I could hear staff upstairs -- footsteps and conversation -- and called out several times hoping someone would come down to assist me. After waiting several minutes with no response, I called the office phone number. It rang through to voicemail, and still no one came downstairs to answer. When two receptionists eventually came to the front, I explained my three months of unanswered outreach. I was told that my intake form had likely been misrouted to the wrong location and that they had no record of my voicemails. I also noticed that the missed call I had placed while waiting in the lobby was visible on their phone -- yet neither receptionist made any attempt to return that call. I chose not to mention that it was me who had called, as I wanted to observe whether callbacks were part of their standard practice. It appears they are not. While I was being helped, the other receptionist took a phone call. Based on what I overheard, the caller on that line had also been waiting for a callback since November after submitting an interest form. The receptionist acknowledged this and said she would follow up -- though I was unable to confirm whether she did so before I left. I want to be clear: I am not writing this review out of frustration alone. I genuinely hope this feedback reaches the right people and leads to meaningful changes. Families and individuals seeking services from Learning Tree deserve timely communication and a welcoming, staffed front office. I encourage the owner to review intake routing, voicemail monitoring, callback procedures, and front desk coverage so that community members are not left waiting months for a response -- or standing unattended in the lobby.

The technician that was assigned to our son (the second time) noticed that he showed behavioral patterns that indicated SPD. Neither my wife nor I were familiar with this, and the tech suggested some resources for us to read and learn from (one of which was The Out Of Sync Child, which comes on an audiobook). I am always thankful for YI and that tech, as, until our son could officially be diagnosed (later diagnosed as autism), that tech integrated her therapy to be in line with children who have SPD. Unfortunately, SARC assigned another agency to our son (as he required many more hours, which YI couldn't meet; as well as other services that YI doesn't offer). That agency, among many other problems, didn't know (or bother to learn about) SPD. Fortunately, after pushing our Regional Contact for another agency (as well as asking to go back to YI, as, even though our son was getting fewer hours, those hours were FAR MORE SUBSTANTIVE than the new agency--in fact, he was REGRESSING with the new agency), the new agency (which could meet the new hour demands and other services) knew about SPD and their techs are trained about it.

It was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. For the most part, she received quality care. It was the horrible care she received an acute care facility, that motivated me to pursue a career as a health care advocate for seniors. The seniors without family and friends received subpar care and treatment. I was at the facility daily and had to pull teeth to insist on her getting the bare minimum care. My employment background is mostly in transportation and finance. I cared for my mom and received a 40 hour a month salary for 24 hours a day care as an IHSS provider. I wanted to expand my resume and become a Certified Nurse Assistant as well as a Certified Home Health Care Provider. My goal is to have a few clients to assist from home to the hospital. I needed an online school that would allow me to have days free to address probate, financial and grief therapy concerns. I googled CNA schools in the Riverside county area and selected McKallen Medical. The knowledge I obtained at McKallen not only broadened my natural patient centered care instincts, it provided me with additional tools, resources and knowledge that has opened my heart and soul. I enrolled in the CNA course 4 months after my moms death. I was stuck in the bargaining stage of grief. I was being triggered by some of the lessons. It was a daily barrage of " if I could of, would of, should of" mental gymnastics. Logically, I knew that I did not have the knowledge to know what steps could have made a difference in my mothers care. However, in the midst of grief, you are filled with guilt and despair. After my first week of theory, I notified administration and told them I was struggling with the course. Tre Green, was not only understanding, he was compassionate and empathetic. He advised me to take as much time as I needed and pursue the course when I was ready to move forward. Eventually I re-started the course with Instructor Mary Montantes-Peck. She was a SUPERB INSTRUCTOR. She is passionate, knowledgeable and engaged. She is the prime example of passing on to others what she embodies as a human being. I am a firm believer that we give to the world, the skills, values and growth mindset that we have. Mary's knowledge about resident/patient care comes from a deep compassionate core. Alex Portillo, the clinical instructor, was great as well. Alex made what could have been a high stress environment into a calm, smooth and knowledgeable experience. There were a few issues with the skills lab training, so this is the reason for a 4 star review. Overall, I had a wonderful experience. I am deeply grateful and appreciative for what McKallen Medical Training provided. I would highly recommend the school to all potential enrollees. Just go in with an open heart and mind and you will reap the benefits and rewards.
