Dr. Henriette Langdon has been a pioneer in the field of multilingual speech-language pathology. She speaks English, Spanish, French, and Polish fluently and has written many books on the topic. Sunflower Therapies is a wonderful company. It is comprised of professionals with specialties in Marriage and Family Counseling and Speech Language Pathology. The focus is with pediatric populations, and professionals implement an interprofessional collaboration model so as to highly complement one another and the care that is provided to pediatric cases, parents and whole family systems. The organization is housed in a new state of the art spacious, bright and beautiful facility that I refer to as "the happy place," that provides space for children to enhance their communication and learning skills in a positive environment. I had an opportunity to learn about this organization when seeking out a counseling course for speech-language pathologists. I attended their complimentary 3-hour session that provided examples of their teaching styles and content to be included in their year long (once a month; Saturdays) intensive course. I ended up enrolling in the course, and found the course to be well worth the cost. The course provided helpful information (lectures supplemented with clear and complete power points, and cutting edge videotaped material) presented in a manner designed to enhance management practices with Speech-Language Pathology cases (and which also provided important and practical information about self care and work-life balance). Dr. Starr and Dr. Langdon are well published, highly seasoned professionals, which collectively represent nearly 80 years of clinical experience. I have been bringing my son (who has a speech delay) to see Dr. Henriette Langdon for about 8 months now and he has improved so much already. She is always very patient with him, especially on his stubborn days, which is a big deal for me. She has also helped me understand the main areas that my son needs help with, and gave me advice on how I can work with him at home. Took my son to Dr.Langdon for about a year for a slight lisp. Public schools find these types of lisps to be within the norm for a young child and will generally only provide speech if it's not outgrown by about 3rd grade & if it falls within a certain severity. Even when it is provided by the public school system it is usually in a group setting and provided within the school day - which takes away time from instructional minutes. In addition, the speech therapy in schools is very minimal for a variety of reasons. For those reasons I opted to seek out professional help in a private setting and I am very pleased with the outcome of a year of speech therapy with Dr. Langdon. Overall, very caring and professional environment and was reasonably priced. My son always looked forward to his speech therapy sessions. read more
