EVERY STUDENT MUST READ: NO MORE STUDENT MEAL. Wings Over was my favorite chicken place for over a decade, but a series of "cost-cutting" decisions by the brand makes me seriously question whether they understand one of their strongest consumer bases in Boston: students. To be clear, at least from my most recent experience in Boston, those working in the restaurant are still as polite, cordial, and welcoming as ever. Service isn't the issue, the prices and offerings are. Wings Over officially cut almost two-thirds of all its flavor offerings and removed the student meal. I am a student and used to be able to get out of there with a four-piece tender meal with fries and a drink for shy of $13. Now I'm paying nearly $18 for the exact same thing with fewer flavor options (they got rid of my favorite, Jet Fuel, along with dozens of other flavors and dry rubs). To make matters worse, they replaced the student meal with a limited time student incentive that they won't tell you about it when you order and which is only advertised on their social media: a free 5 piece boneless wing box (ranch or bleu cheese not included) with purchase of a drink going from Aug 31-Sept 13. I was at Wings Over Boston today and asked for the student meal. They said they didn't offer it anymore, so I went ahead and ordered as usual and paid full price. Then I had a suspicion - many other places nearby have some promotion going on for students. So I looked on their official Instagram to find there was the 5 piece promotion going on and no one mentioned that to me when I was asking about a student meal. When I asked the manager about this, he said that I didn't ask for it and had to specifically ask for the 5-piece student special, so I wasn't entitled to it. We went back and forth for a moment, and he was kind and honored the deal and I thanked him for his kindness. To make this kick in the shins even worse, I had to eat today with only a fork and no knife because they don't have plastic knives anymore but that's beside the point, "cost cutting." Most importantly, if a student walks in and asks for a student meal, the appropriate response should be: "We no longer offer that deal, but we currently have a student promotion where you can get a free 5-piece boneless wing box with the purchase of a drink." Instead, customers are apparently expected to somehow know about a promotion that isn't being proactively communicated in-store and ask for it specifically. In fact, another student came in shortly after me and asked for the student meal. He was told they didn't have it and, once again, wasn't told about the promotion. Like me, he ordered anyway, clearly disappointed. I had to walk over and tell him about the deal myself. He thanked me and then asked for the promotion. This should not be happening. Students are going to be coming back to Boston this fall. They are going to see that Wings Over's prices are now several dollars higher than comparable options in the area, while the menu has fewer flavors and the student meal is gone. Eventually, they're going to stop choosing Wings Over. I would genuinely rather go to Wollaston's, get a huge sandwich and a drink for under $10, and leave satisfied than pay full price for a meal I used to get at a significant student discount. I'll probably come back while this promotion lasts, and I appreciate the manager making it right today. But Wings Over used to be a regular option for me. Now it's a special-occasion lunch. I really hope the brand reconsiders these changes before it loses the student customer base that helped make Wings Over such a staple in Boston. read more

"They get better and better " These wings are constantly delicious. We have been coming here for years . They just get better . Portion sizes are not bad . Prices are still reasonable. The chicken and sauces taste delicious and fresh . We just love this place . Inside the staff is friendly and welcoming. The place is very clean consistently. Parking is difficult but manageable. Wait time is not too bad , you can always call ahead ; if your short for time . read more

Ordered wings, fries and a 2 liter soda through Grubhub but the wings and soda were missing (and the fries cold). Called restaurant, staff told me that chicken was placed in bag (impossible since it was stapled) and that their hands were tied, that I would have to make complaint through Grubhub (which only allowed us to get refund for the chicken, not the soda). Really wish they had worked with me more on trying to fix the issue; I've enjoyed their stuff in the past, maybe just don't do delivery. At least the celery was good. read more

The wings I enjoy but the service? Theeeee absolute WORST. The workers are super slow and have an attitud. 1 hr wait for wings is ridicous. if you ar picking up your food you gotta wait forever too because they are taking their jolly time in the kitchen. They need to restaff immideiately read more

A fairly decent chicken wrap with grilled chicken and Buffalo wing mild sauce. I do wish that there were a few more vegetables. I was also impressed by the quality and professionalism of service. The establishment seems to get a lot of phone / app orders and yet they managed to get food out in decent amount of time. read more

I work in the area and appreciate being able to go for a little walk and pick up something to eat on days when I am in the office. I passed Wings Over Boston several times on my way to more familiar fare till last summer I decided to venture in. I have since been back probably a 1/2 dozen times. The ambiance is simple and functional, as it seems more set up for takeout than eat-in. I have never had the wings (I see wings as more as an "eat at home" experience because I don't want to see the bones after I am done), but the fingers/tenders are very moist and always hot and fresh. The meat is dense so even if you have a big appetite, after two or three tenders,m and the fries, it is easy to get filled up. Six tenders is more suited for two. The crinkle-cut fries are some of the best I have had in the area. The cashier lady is a refreshing, familiar face who makes the experience pleasant. read more

Waited 40 minutes past the pickup time and was told "it's coming" 3 times. I got the wrong order after waiting the whole time. Going to call and get a refund / dispute with my bank. Don't bother with this place. They have 3-4x people waiting for food than they do working in the kitchen. Pickup orders are sitting behind the counter, but no one is checking to see if the customer is here. It's like 10-15 minute stretches before anyone comes to the desk. There's zero urgency, maximum incompetency from the employee on tonight. Super dirty lobby. Should probably be inspected by Boston Public Health Commission. read more

For the love of god please bring back the waffle fries. The crinkle cut are nasty and soggy and yall still skimp out on them

Ordered food in store and it took over an hour and was some of the worst wings I've ever eaten. I had a discount code which had to be used online and the online taxes and fees ended up cancelling out the discount code they gave me. So the discount was an essentially worthless, the wait was over an hour, and the food was bad. 1 star is 1 star too many, I wish this app let me give it 0. read more

I love wings over!!!! Between wings over and DJ's on cape cod. These are the best wings around!! Wish they had more locations !!

Why is it that every time I come here, it takes an average of 25 minutes for me to get my food. Every damn time. There is never anyone calling out orders, it's such a flawed system. I am so upset with the service i've received here. The food is fine, I just can't waste a half an hour for "fast food", if I wanted that I could go to a restaurant and sit down. read more

Since I had a great experience my first time last Sunday trying Jerk chicken sauce. Tonight I'm trying the dry rub My server Sophie was great she had excellent customer service! Those tater tots had wild crispiness! It had a garlic powder on them! Delicious The Texas Mesquite dry rub wings are phenomenal! Crispy but tender juicy inside and fully covered wings cooked so good! So this is the 2nd time coming here and both times orders and customer service was excellent!!! read more

If you don't order your food a half hour in advance, you're screw. My god they are SLOW. The woman who works the register is extremely rude. The food itself is hit or miss. Food is amazing and well priced. Unfortunately, it takes extremely long to come out- 30+ minutes the past 3 times ive been here. The restaurant also has very little seating inside. I would come here more often if service was much much quicker read more

Located on Huntington ave right near Northeastern University. This place have some of the best wings in town. Big, juicy and cooked perfectly. The chicken tenders is my go to. It's tender, juicy and never dry. They have a variety of different sauces to choose from, different levels of Buffalo hot sauces to mango habernero, jamaican jerk and all sorts of different BBQ flavors. Their dry rubs like Garlic Parmesan is also top notch. They have many many locations thru out New England besides Boston, they are also located in Providence, Framingham, Worcester and many many more. Go check out their website at wingsover.com for locations, you will be glad that you did. read more

found a bunch of hair in my food. food was aight tho but still the hair was disgusting.

Love me some wings. Their tendies are great and I like the garlic parm and golden bbq

Don't listen to Kandice Z. This place is not worth it at all. Doesn't make sense how it takes an hour to get the order. The food here is also dry, cold, and unsaucy. The only good thing about this place is the tenders and the fact that it's further away from me. I do not recommend this place, it's a shitcan of a place and the people there act like they always have something up their asses. read more

Terrible place it's a shit can. Ordered for sauce with the wings and gave fucking dry wings and sauce on the sides. The sauce is ass and is such a small serving. The delivery driver wasn't even driving and rode a bike, getting an hour workout in before delivering my food. The food was cold and tastes like shit. I don't recommend this place at all. They said the wings are big but are miniature. Ordered the tenders for my friend and those are the only decent things on the menu. read more

What can I say? Can't really beat their boneless wings. I've tried most of their flavors but love the golden barbecue, seven pepper, garlic parm, mild, Jamaican jerk, and Texas mesquite the most. Good waffle fries too. Best hack is getting your fave sauces on the side. Have never been inside but it's a takeout restaurant lol. Remember all my stuff most of the time save for a few times with small things forgotten. Still, I'd recommend it. read more

I ordered 6 tenders and waffle fries, which came with a drink. They let you choose the flavour of the chicken and I chose medium spice. I can see this being a lot better in person but I ordered this through Doordash which killed most of the crispiness of both the chicken and the waffle fries through precipitation . The chicken tenders were larger than I expected but it was dry in the inside even with the sauce coating it. I would give a 3.5/5 if it was an option since I think a 3 is a little low for this. No major issue though read more

Was craving fries, so stopped in with a friend for a quick bite. We waited over 20 minutes despite being told they'd be ready in a second. When I approached the counter to ask when our food would be ready, as I'd been told they'd be ready in a second, the woman there gave me attitude and said "they'd never say anything would be ready in a second" and that everything takes 10-15 minutes. She rummaged around though and found our order in a takeout bag, as it'd been sitting there for 20 minutes as a pickup order, despite us having ordered in person. The fries were good in the end (though portions were kind of small for a large), but the mixup was inconvenient, and I didn't appreciate the rude customer treatment. read more

I have been the biggest fan of Wings Over for well over a decade. Back when they had names for their combos like Stratocruiser, and I would tell anyone who would listen how great they were. Huge pieces of the most tender boneless tenders slathered in delicious sauces, etc. But over the years that enthusiasm has been curbed quite a bit. Things change. That is normal and I believe they have new owners but the bottom line is this: The prices are higher and the portions are much, much smaller. My last 8 tender combo for two, left two of us hungry. Maybe it would have helped if they had included the two pieces of toasted bread that was supposed to come with the order. The days of getting an eye popping huge tender are over and now all pieces are the standard medium to small size you find everywhere else. The waffle fries are gone and now they just have crinkle cuts like everyone else. They supposedly give you toasted bread (ala Raising Canes) as mentioned, but I have never gotten this in my to-go orders so who knows. Speaking of Canes this is a good time to make that comparison. At one time I considered Canes a poor substitute for Wings Over, but I now cannot deny that Canes may be a better value. I am saddened to say that I probably will not be back. read more

Our delivery order included 4 separate orders of wings with over 4lbs of wings and waffle fries. The order shows up, sauce spilled all over the outside of each box. None of the boxes were labeled so we're guessing between flavors. Celery, cutlery, napkins were all non-existent and to boot they gave us 3 small containers of ranch/blue cheese, which was hardly enough for half the order. The wings themselves were disappointing. They were lukewarm, the boneless ones were soggy and the bone-in were dried out. I wouldn't order again. Waffle fries weren't very memorable either. read more

The price equates to the freedom that lies in the vast selection of sauces. The value is within the combos that come with fries and drinks included. Very optimal location for college students in the Fens area, a must-try for fans of flavorful and creative wings. (Try their ranch!) read more

I love Buffalo Wings, so maybe my standards are too high, but this place sucks. My co-workers and I each ordered the "puddle jumper". There's the first problem, the names of the dishes are trying to be all clever with airplane inspired names. Thinks like "puddle jumper, DC-10, etc." I just want food, not a lesson in aircraft. Just say small, medium, large, or 10 wings, 1 lb, etc. They say good for one person, good for 2, but that doesn't really tell you what to expect. Next and most importantly, the food. We each got the same size and different flavors. The packages were not marked at all so we had no idea what each package was. The actual wings were fatty and lacked any significant flavor. Whoever was responsible for saucing the wings must have just walked by the kitchen with a closed sauce container. They were the LaCroix version of buffalo wings. read more

First mistake: ordering delivery (Postmates). Fries were soggy and food was cold. The sad thing is that I live a mile from the restaurant, so it should have arrived pretty fresh Second: the boneless wings were very dry and barely sauced. I also received blue cheese instead of ranch (which I requested). Third: the Vanilla latte is more like a vanilla milkshake with a hint of coffee flavoring... which is definitely not what I was expecting The Good: I appreciated that they separated each flavor of wings with wax paper so the flavors wouldn't mix. read more

It was a disappointment when wings over Brookline a few years back. The Boston location is absolutely horrendous. Unfortunately we keep going back hoping they would be better, but continues to disappoint. Ordered through Grubhub and the order was not even close to being correct. Dry chicken tenders, paid extra for sauce and didn't get it on the tenders either. Paid extra for a meal and didn't receive the side. Receipt attached to the order couldn't be any clearer. My advice DON'T order from here EVER. Find a smaller mom and pop place to get your wings and tenders from. read more

First off, wings over Boston has phantasmagoric advertising with their 12 dollar 4 wing bundle. Regardless, upon entry the immediate vibe was both positive and enticing. Wait staff was helpful and eager to assist while being an absolute leader choosing particular sauces. Not only that, but they bring your wonderfully packaged food TO THE TABLE. Yes, I said that right, table service... and with a smile!! Not to mention the aux was impeccable and only added a sense of mystery and excitement to each bite of perfectly buttered tenders. As for the waffle fries, better than "fila-a"... yeah... I mean it. All in all, 100/5 stars for the fellas at Wings Over Boston. Keep doing what you're doing because it matters !!! read more

Delivery: mmm loved that the wings were hot and crispy with fat rendered--I'm glad they weren't soggy. The waffle fries steamed a bit in the box but still very good. I got the 3 flavors of wings- garlic parm, jerk, and lemon pepper. All very tasty, though I think lemon pepper will be a repeat order for me. I prefer the wings with bones ( because the chicken skins add another facet of flavor that boneless variety do not get). I want to know what brand ranch dressing they use. So good! Delivery was on time! read more

I gave this place a shot but to no avail it was a terrible experience. The food arrived cold and they forgot to bring our onion rings and one of our sodas. In addition, the chicken was so terribly over-cooked it was practically inedible. Not worth trying- steer clear. read more

Gack. Ordered from here for the first, and unfortunately, last time the other day. First of all; sooooo expensive! I'm not sure there was actually a pound of chicken involved in my 1lbs order. The flavor was okay (just), and the chicken was okay, but I wasn't overwhelmed, which might have justified the cost. Second; the loaded tots were, how to put this politely? Disgusting. Only managed to eat a couple. The "cheese" seemed to be more of the velveeta variety (aka, not really cheese...). They were supposed to be cajun tots, but I'm not sure they were. Hard to say under the ooze on top of them. Worst of all, something in this mix made my tummy uncomfortable all night. I had ordered from one of the other "Wings over X" locations previously and that was okay, if also expensive. But I won't be risking it again. read more

THIS IS A REVIEW OF JUST THE WINGS I think the wings here are hefty and tasty compared to other places. I loved the honey mustard and the lemon and pepper and garlic perm were good but needed more seasoning. If you are craving wings I would def recommend. read more

I ordered my food 30 minutes ago: upon inquiring was told I needed to wait an extra 5 minutes. Not good.

*Review pertains to the food only* I've been nostalgic for the place ever since undergrad at Umass Amherst. I'm a huge fan of their boneless wings (honey mustard everytime...always) with honey bbq being a close second. While they do have seating inside, it's a bit drab so I always take out. As the reviews here mention, customer service isn't always the best (especially when it comes to delivery) so if you can pick up DO IT! Also bummed at the price creep that's been going on over the years (for reference, I remember when the aircraft carrier combo was $100...whaaaaat). read more
