I have been interested in checking this place out since my wife started working close by in January and I finally got a chance to check this place out yesterday. I ordered 15 wings with "hot" buffalo sauce as well as 6 breadsticks. I arrived and the staff was pleasant and friendly. There was a bit of a smell of what I could only describe as "dirty mop water" when I came inside. (That should have been a huge red flag to me). I took the order to go and drive back to my house in Chula Vista to enjoy. Well, I opened the wings and noticed that they were what I would consider "very undercooked". The wing sauce was like a cheap imitation of "Frank's Hot Sauce" and it looked like the wings just had the hot sauce poured on top of them. I had to continue cooking the wings in an oven to make sure they were completely done as the outside was rubbery and definitely not "done". I will say that the breadsticks were good. Would I go there again. No. I did see that there were plenty of folks coming in and out ordering the Buffalo Fries so those must be one of their bigger sellers. Sweet and spicy were very tasty alittle in the spicy side . We also ordered honey bbq wings with fries also very good wings are cooked perfectly fired alittle over seasoned but good. Both combos came with carrots and celery sticks and ranch . Bread sticks are fresh and remind me of pat and Oscars yummy . I will definitely be coming back for wings . Honestly, I had high hopes for this place. The first time we went the service was mediocre but the FOOD was amazing. The (Buffalo Chicken) fries were beer-battered or something and the chicken was freshly fried, tender and juicy and the sauce was AMAZING. The second time they gave us attitude after they FORGOT to place the second part of our order. We waited 20 minutes in between getting my Chicken Tenders and getting the Buffalo Fries. We've gotten wings from here a number of times but today was the last. My husband placed an order over the phone and went to pick it up. When he got home we realized they had given us the wrong order. He called and informed them what happened and that I would be going back to get the correct order. This use to be one of my go to wing spots for wings always been good never had a problem until today I order a 15 piece of buffalo wings and my daughter ordered 5 barbecue.so the 1st 15 had a very wired taste to them, I guess they mixed the buffalo and the barbecue in the same bowl so I told then to take it back it's not that big of a problem. The second batch was still frozen I could still feel it in your hand. They offered to make me a third batch and I told him I don't want anything from them they wouldn't refund me my money I didn't want to make a scene about that so I just left and checked it up as a loss. the only thing that was good there was a service and the fries and music. There's an empty void in my soul that can only be filled with chicken wings and I doubly appreciate any place that can fill that void on a whim and without questions. They've clearly borrowed from the 'Wings n' Things' formula. The complimentary celery/carrots even come in the same pre-wrapped portion sizes. The difference comes in flexibility. Yes, you can get a meal deal, but if you want 50 wings or 30 of their (superior) breadsticks they'll easily indulge you. By taste, the wings seem a higher quality; these chickens were happier when they died and it shows through the sauces and spices. I'd recommend the garlic Parmesan flavor, overly buttery but you're not browsing wings for your health, are you? Ask if they have a dry run for your flavor, the crisp persists through the sauciness but dry is for true wing nuts. I'm also pleasantly surprised that they offer wing alternatives like BBQ ribs and buffalo fries, almost as messy without compromising flavor. Not sure why this place has so many bad reviews. I ordered 20 piece wings for my very first time from here and this is my new go to place for wings. I always place an order over the phone, and when they tell me it'll be ready in 10-15 minutes I arrive within 15 minutes and my food is ready I just have to pay. I've never had to wait and I've never experienced any bad attitude from anyone. The La Mesa location is the nicest out of all the ones in San Diego in my opinion. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I got off of work at 930pm expecting to try out this place. I searched on Google and seen that it closed at 11pm . I arrive at the restaurant at 10pm to discover that they actually close at 1030 (the hours on Google are incorrect). With the door wide open and the staff sitting in the dining area I proceed to enter. I was approached by the manager and he had told me that they were already closed and told me to leave. I questioned the business hours and was told that everything had already been shutdown well before closing time . As I walk out one of the staff members mumbled "He should have came earlier". I understand closing and shutting down a restaurant 5 or even 10 minutes before closing if it is not busy, but a whole half an hour is pretty outrageous. I wish I could give it half a star. I ordered boneless wings with garlic parmesan and medium hot mix. 1. it was super drenched in sauce so it was barely crunchy, I didn't even taste the garlic parmesan. 2. The chicken was tough to chew very rubbery all five pieces were not enjoyable to eat, but ate it anyways cause I spent $8. Boneless chicken should never taste like that it's the easiest to make for goodness sake and I thought Wing Stop was bad. Learned my lesson but won't be going back there. DO NOT BOTHER GOING HERE! I was foolish enough to buy a Groupon today for this place which clearly stated it was $12 for $20 worth of wings and tenders. Nowhere on the ad did it say anything about not being able to use it with other promos. I call in my order and I order the family special which is $26. When I get there the cashier has no idea what to do with the voucher. She asks the cook (the bald guy) and he tells her it is not valid with the special that I ordered. I tell her it didn't say anything on the ad about that. She says she is going to call the owner. First of all the owner should of notifed his employees that he had set up an ad on Groupon in the first place and properly trained them on how the Groupon worked. So 15 minutes go by and mind you by then the cook has completely stopped working so that he can go hard on his argument about not taking the voucher with the cashier. The owner is not picking up the phone and no one is helping the customers because the only two people in the store are in the back trying to figure out what to do with this mystery voucher. I had to yell to the back to please cancel my order because this is taking wayyyyy too long and I had never had such a complicated experience using a Groupon. She comes from the back and informs me that she finally got a hold of the owner and that he told her to not take the voucher if I ordered the special. And that the voucher says it's not to be used in combination with any other promotions. She showed me what it said and she was right...SO BASICALLY what is happening here is that when they reel you in with the special they don't tell you that on the ad...it only shows up in the fine print on the voucher once you have already PURCHASED the Groupon and that is called FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. She tells me that he said that he will need to call Groupon tomorrow and change that...I said well then you should take my voucher today and change it tomorrow! She said no...the owner said no and that was that. So they would rather lose out on an order which was already sitting there waiting to be picked up and lose out on a customer for life who will tell everyone they know to not eat there, than honor the voucher which they admited they will need to clear up with Groupon. By the way I am very familiar with Groupons, I am a long time loyal customer; restrictions are always clearly stated on the ad before you buy, not after. This is why they needed a Groupon in the first place to boost up their sales because their customer service sucks and it's obvious I am not the only one that thinks so from the MANY bad reviews this place has! Don't waste your time or spend your hard earned money there! Go to Wings N Things down the street instead...now that's great customer service and food!
