Honestly didn't get to try the food, might've been great. But when we called we didn't even get a happy hello we got a hi, we assumed we called the wrong place. We just had a simple question and it was a crap attitude from the girl who answered. 2/11 at 8pm. I feel bad for anyone who has to talk to her. I was told about this place by a customer of mine stating that they had great classic cocktails and delicious food. I was intrigued because not many places in the southtowns can put out great cocktails aside from your traditional martini list. When we first pulled up we were slightly concerned as from the outside it looks very tiny, but once we got in it was very nice and cozy! I love a good old fashioned and these did not disappoint. They allow you to choose your bitters for it (so you can alter the sweetness/dryness to your liking) so I went for the orange bitters. The drink was incredible!! I ordered another with dinner and probably would've ordered another after that if I didn't weigh 120 lbs- my point is that you need to order this drink. They also feature a whiskey list if you're looking to sample some bourbons or rye. Based on the advice from my customer, we ordered the grilled cheese bite appetizer that comes with a cream of tomato soup type dipping sauce- delicious. Our favorite dish was the chicken pot pie- my husband actually said it may have been better than his mom's homemade recipe. We will be back to try some whiskey and work our way around the menu. The double double chicken dish with kale, and cream, and polenta, was off the charts with flavor! We were both very happy with our food. We got a local flavor coupon and decide to try this new place. We were absolutely Blown Away! We had the T-bone steak which was perfectly grilled and seasoned with herb butter, with a side of mashed potatoes and onion crisps. The warm mushroom salad was delicious as was the soup of the day - a butternut squash soup with cumin and other Indian type flavors. Our server Haley was fabulous. She was there when needed, answered all our questions, and made sure that everything was to perfection. We will definitely be back! read more

This is a gem of a restaurant. Casual ambience but top notch cocktails, beer list and wine selections. The menu was really interesting. Fresh fish specials and lots of other goodies to choose from. Started with the steamed clams - perfect in every way. I had the lamb burger with their warm potato salad. Great flavors! Bob had the Rueben with a Caesar salad. Everything was tasty, hot, done perfectly and served perfectly by the nicest server ever. Just a great meal. We will be back many times to try all of the menu choices. read more

You wont find any over-breaded glommy bar fare here, but a creative menu with everything from duck poutine to lemon crème brûlée with a white chocolate whipped topping flavored with basil and topped with chopped fresh strawberries. The hop fries are unique and served with a tangy garlicky dip; don't even think of putting catsup on these tasty things! The BBQ burnt ends are worth the trip alone: so tasty and savory (smoked on site) with a sweet and tangy sauce with just a hint of a kick. Perfect. And the prices! Get out. Don't judge a book by its cover, its location or its back parking lot. Looking for place to eat and this place has been on my list. Upon entering we were cheerfully greeted and asked where we wanted to sit. The hubs was happy because they had a great german beer that he liked. He wanted the steamed clams and glad he did. Me, I can take or leave clams. What I loved was the grilled cheese on jalapeno bread with bacon and homemade tomato soup for dipping. It must have been good because the hubs drank the rest of the soup For meals we had the lamb burger, which was fine, but nothing special. We also had the Winfield cheeseburger. Cheeseburger sound boring you say, not this one. While simple the combination of the caramelized onion, tomato jam and the homemade potato bun was sensational. We were driving to go shopping and I always wanted to stop in Winfield's Pub. I was shocked when i walked in how nice it was. I thought it was a typical local South Buffalo Bar, it wasn't. The atmosphere was welcoming and clean. It's a family owed business and the staff was amazing. We just stopped for a drink, but the bartender/ owner has convinced us to come back and try the food. I had an in house cured corned beef Reuben with hot, bacon cheese potato salad( I know- not on my diet) The family had: cherry , smoked, grilled chicken with slivered onion rings .The best portobello veggie burger with their "hop" fries served with aioli . Daughter had grilled salmon with home made rye noodles ! Home made chicken pot pie,fish tacos, lamb burger, Caesar salad, soups and short rib poutine! Come on, do you expect this from a pub! We have driven by this place for 3 years and thought it was just a local "dive bar." Well let's just say, we were extremely surprised at how big it actually was once we went in (compared to the small front of the building), and how fantastic the food was!!! We tried appetizers-BBQ burnt pork ends, hop fries both were uncomparable to any restaurant around buffalo, cream of tomato soup with grilled cheese croutons (perfect mix). For dinner the grilled sirloin, and the cherry chipotle chicken and both were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I had read an article in Step Out Buffalo saying this is a must try place, and I'm glad I saw the article or I would never have found it. We live this little hidden gem. The cocktails are excellent. Quite a variety. And this time of year the best Tom and Jerry. Their menu is unique with everything house made down to ketchup. For apps started with smoked burnt ends let me tell you. The best. The perfect amount of smoke. Large portion in a delicious sauce not the fatty ends you get everywhere else. We have been here multiple times this time we were in the mood for a chicken sandwich. Not your average sandwich buttered homemade bun with jalapeño slaw and garlic aioli fantastic. We enjoyed a wonderful meal last weekend. The fish fry was well cooked and the fries and cole slaw tasted very fresh. My only complaint is that some parts of the fish fry (oddly not the whole thing) were just too salty. That said, we will definitely order from Winfield again in the future. read more

Stopped in at the end of a long day driving after checking the reviews. Finding the place was a bit of a challenge since the sign was hard to see and the construction cones in the street prevented a left turn, but am glad we did. A totally complete experience/neighborhood gem in Lackawanna. Worth the drive from anywhere. Vibes: A classy neighborhood dive. Unselfconsciously eclectic. Spacious but cozy. Quiet but not creepy on the Thursday night we came in. Beautiful hardwood floor, plenty of seating, semi-open kitchen with a frosted glass window. Comfortable bar with 3 TV's that weren't blaring. Fitting music playing over the sound system at a perfect volume, ranging from The Doors to Al Green. One lone young man at the bar and a couple of old funky folks at the table on the Thursday night we came in. We ordered two specials and one item off the regular menu: caramelized scallops served over bacon and sweet corn, a pork loaf (house-made special meatloaf) sandwich with bacon and barbecue sauce, a warm potato salad, a lamb and feta burger with hops fries and garlic aioli. The food came out quickly, our server was friendly, interesting, and intuitively responsive to our needs (without being overbearing or neglectful), and the cocktails looked special. This a serious kitchen. This is exactly where you want to go for dinner. The food is so thoughtful: that pork loaf sandwich was absolutely one of the most succulent things I have ever eaten. The sandwiches came with house pickled onions. The potato buns are house made. The garlic aioli was house made and addictive. The warm potato salad (made with velveeta!?) was unreal. Even the bacon somehow tasted fuller, stronger, more flavorful. Also, everything is really cheap. My only complaint: the sweet corn the scallops were served on top of was cold mealy, rather than sweet and plump. The scallops themselves were sweet and plump. I've been in plenty of bar/restaurants or pizza/sub joints in sunny LA (they're all fine, but nothing more than average) , so it is surprising to find such a cool, hip place with excellent food. Upscale without being pretentious or expensive (reminds me a lot of my OTHER southtowns favorite, Brick Oven Bistro.) Lamb burger, pickled veggies, jalapeno bacon griled scheese with tomato soup for dipping - all were fantastic. Service was exceptional. My 1 beef is no draft beer. But their bottle selection is good & the bartender was knowledgeable enough to lead me in the right direction (Red Hook Pumpkin Porter is smashing!) Can't wait to go back. read more

My wife ordered the lamb burger and I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. We ordered the smoked brisket poutine and the fish tacos for appetizers. The lamb burger was ok, my wife ordered it medium but it came medium rare. She said she would give it 3 stars. I don't really like lamb that much so I didn't try it. My chicken sandwich was very good even though the chicken was dry. I'd still give it 4 or 5 stars. Their french fries are excellent, 5 stars. The fish tacos tasted really good, except that they were very mushy. I would've liked the cod to be fried and crispy on the outside, 4 stars. The smoked brisket poutine was one of the worst things I've ever tasted. The fries and cheese curd were good, but the gravy and brisket were really bad. The gravy was extremely bitter and didn't taste like it was salted at all. The brisket was very tough and chewy, not tender the way brisket should be. The poutine and the lamb burger are the reasons I'm giving them 3 stars. The service was good and people were friendly. I would eat there again now that I know what to stay away from. read more

We got into our hotel after 9:00 pm and didn't want fast food. I looked on Yelp for restaurants and saw Winfield's had good ratings so we decided to try it. There were mostly locals sitting at the bar and having a good time when we arrived, but the feel of the place was more felt like a pub than a bar. My husband ordered the veggie burger and I ordered the sirloin filet. I wouldn't describe us as "foodies," but we really enjoy good food and this place did not disappoint. It was one of the best meals I've ever had. Everything was fresh and homemade. The waitress was attentive and made us feel welcome. The guiness chocolate cake...lets just say we scraped the plate clean it was so good. I highly recommend this place and I'm pretty sure that when we're passing through Buffalo on our way to Canada, this place will become regular stopping place for us. read more

Exterior looks like an old VFW/American Legion Hall full of old beer guzzlers BUT inside it is actually quite nice, quaint, nostalgic and a touch rustic. Killer cocktail menu and liquor selection, great high level mixology in a very unpretentious way. Home made cocktail syrups and mixers. Gastro pub is the right classification as everything on the menu was both comfort food but elevated in some way. Try the short rib noodle bowl! WOW! read more

This was my second time here, the first being Restaurant Week. We came late on a Thursday night and were the only diners, though there were some people at the bar. I had the chicken pot pie and was very pleased. The salad that came with was fresh and yummy. The pie was full of big chunks of white meat chicken and veggies. It was a big dish, too. Had I not been so hungry, I would likely have taken half home. The husband had the Rueben and said it was good. The place is cute and the servers attentive. We had to wait quite a while for the meal to arrive, but that is likely because of the lateness of the hour and my pot pie's flaky topping had to bake in an oven. The one complaint would be that the drinks are not bottomless here. The iced tea was only $2, but there wasn't much in the small glass. Next time I will have to remember to also ask for water. The place is difficult to find as the storefront is very small and the sign is very small. The turn into the parking lot is extremely sharp and easy to miss. In the past I had the lamb burger and that was delicious. The place obviously cares about the quality of its food and making the flavors interesting. It is so nice to be able to get a yummy, healthy meal fairly late on a week night. I assume this place is big enough that you can also get in on weekends without a long wait. This is the best Gastro pub I've ever been to! The outside looks like it's gonna be a tiny dive bar that's been here forever. The inside is big and has a great atmosphere....very friendly and feels like it's you're fave local bar even if just visiting. The food is awesome! Cheeseburgers are one of the best I've had...come with Caramelized onions and their homemade tomato jam. Mac and cheese and Kiki's warm potato salad are both excellent!! They have house made condiments: garlic aioli, tomato jam, beet ketchup, whole grain beer mustard and jalapeño mustard. Cheeseburger, Mac & cheese and small plate salad $13. Got done with my assignment last Friday at 7PM. Circumstances found me very close to Ridge Road. Yelp led me to Winfields. I am so glad I stopped. The Ridge has a diamond on its impressive brow. This Gastropub is really special. Keeping up with the Niagara Frontier beer revival an exceptional beer menu is presented. I went with Glimmerglass from Cooperstown. I decided to go with the NY Strip. Supposedly the best cut of steak and quite the safe choice. My waitress asked if I wanted to hear the specials, my response was positive. When she said lamb chops I made the detour and ordered the chops. In short order I was served my salad and very shortly the entree came out. Three thick chops on a bed Swiss chard, chick peas and cherry tomatoes. The kick came from the balsamic relish that dressed the vegetables. The chops were delicious and the bed of veggies was very tasty. I have been eating for over 66 years and this was one of the best meals I have ever had. Go to the Basilica, say a prayer that Father Baker is canonized then head for Winfield's Gastropub and eat like a Cardinal. Once that man is recognized as a saint and the pilgrims arrive you won't be able to get near the place. read more

Upon recommendation from a friend, we tried this Pub on Friday night. We waited at the bar for 45 minutes, despite two tables cleared and empty. This writer observed the bartender rearranging something down the back of his pants then mixing a drink without washing his hands. We were seated,finally, and watched,with 2 other couples, as people who had arrived after us, were served at the bar. Waiting another 40 minutes my husband went to the bar to pay our bill.He expressed our frustration and was told it was because our order was being prepared on the grill. The bartender commented that they didn't need comments like ours. Since we were extremely hungry at that point, we went to a restaurant that we are familiar with. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! We have been going here for over a year now habitually. Family run, meat is smoked out back during the day, fresh local ingredients (omg the goat cheese!) I can't say enough good things about this place! The veggie burger is my favorite (add their bacon and goat cheese!) and we also love the Kiki's warm potato salad which is one of their family recipes. I was in town on business staying at a hotel in West Seneca and decide to order-in using Skip The Dishes. I ordered the Winfield Burger and added bacon. Wow! One of the best burgers ever. I got the warm potato salad with it and it was delicious. I would not, however, call it potato salad, but it was wonderful. I also ordered the Guinness Chocolate Cake.
