It's not the biggest place ever, but they always seem to have what I'm looking for. Most recently they walked me through the steps of re-caulking my bathtub, and helped me find all of the tools and products required. The owner has two bulldogs that kind of hang out around the store. I love this little touch, but if you don't like dogs, this could be a downside. They never really approach you or bark or anything, they just lay there, but I know some people really don't like dogs.

I finally was able to locate the product I needed but it was a short distance away around 30 minutes. I have not been to this town since the 1990's. Well, I got lost; my car has a 2010 GPS, it was dusk, almost no street lighting and unless you live in New England, the roads along the coastal towns are based on the old cow paths. The store was closed when I got there, I did leave a voice mail to let them know I would come in the morning but would call to see if they still had it because it was their last one. I deciuded to drive home and a few minutes later, I got a phone call from the store, saying they would wait for me and to call if I got lost again. I did ,but was only yards away. I always prefer to go to a small family owned business; it has been my experience that they take a personal interest and try the best to help you find the right products and go that extra mile. I am so grateful, because not only was the product unavailable my hometown Ace Hardware, Walmart, Home Depot or Lowes and even on Amazon. Now I now what I need it and will install tomorrow, just in time for winter to return!!

The person who answered the Hardware phone line checked the shelves in person, since I was driving in from a distance. "Yes, it was on the shelves", he said. Once in the store, a young employee asked me what I was looking for. When I told him, he said "the store did not carry that product." Fortunately I knew better, and told him that I already had verified that it was on the shelves somewhere. He walked away, leaving me to find it on my own, which I eventually did. If I had not verified it's presense, I would have driven home empty handed. Maybe this employee could use a little more training?

However, the pricing is extremely high compared to some other big box stores or ACE hardware locations outside of the city. I highly recommend using their order online for in store pickup for the best pricing since the store will follow the online pricing vs the shelf sticker price. Online orders come with a paper bag that has a handle which makes it nice and easy to carry out. There are two floors to the store, with the majority of home improvement things being on the lower level.

No pressure, cashier was fast and friendly. Nice variety of merchandise. They are located at a busy intersection, and there is a town parking lot across the street and over a bit, but it's for all the merchants and fills up because of all the nearby restaurants. There is probably some side street parking but to note, some of the streets are quite narrow. #shoplocal #shopindie

One thing that people may not realize is the difference between a lumber yard and a hardware store…read more Moynihan is very much a lumber yard with an attached hardware store. The vast majority of their business is to contractors. Their wood products are very high quality. They have a wide selection of specialty wood products that just aren't available at Home Depot, and if they are, they're better at Moynihan. I'm impressed with the selection of hardware they cram into their small store as well. Just keep in mind, they're not set up to help someone who doesn't have at least some knowledge of building trades. If you go in knowing what you need, they'll be very helpful. If you go looking for someone to walk you through a project you've got sketched out on the back of an envelope and you don't know what materials you want to use or what tools you'll need, this isn't the place to go. Again, bottom line, high quality product and a helpful staff for people who know what they need.
