Quick to show you exactly where items are you need.. electrical, bird feed, lights, tools, household...even the exact screw thread or nut (and there are thousands!) if you bring in a sample. Super patient with helping me restore my MG's missing bolts to my radiator etc. Also, yes, a shovel handle broke and they replaced my item without question. Angel and boys/men are top notch. They never really approach you or bark or anything, they just lay there, but I know some people really don't like dogs.

I finally was able to locate the product I needed but it was a short distance away around 30 minutes. I have not been to this town since the 1990's. Well, I got lost; my car has a 2010 GPS, it was dusk, almost no street lighting and unless you live in New England, the roads along the coastal towns are based on the old cow paths. The store was closed when I got there, I did leave a voice mail to let them know I would come in the morning but would call to see if they still had it because it was their last one. I deciuded to drive home and a few minutes later, I got a phone call from the store, saying they would wait for me and to call if I got lost again. I did ,but was only yards away. I always prefer to go to a small family owned business; it has been my experience that they take a personal interest and try the best to help you find the right products and go that extra mile. I am so grateful, because not only was the product unavailable my hometown Ace Hardware, Walmart, Home Depot or Lowes and even on Amazon. Now I now what I need it and will install tomorrow, just in time for winter to return!!

I went back to make an exchange. For this to be done, they did a return of the first shelf, and I purchased a new one that better fit my needs. I was told that my return was completed, funds would return to my debit card, and handed a receipt. Recently, while assessing my bank account, I noticed the return never went through, and I ended up being changed for a product I no longer have. I did file a dispute with my bank and the funds were returned. Needless to say, I am dissapointed that this occurred.

I tried the local Ace Hardware in town to save the drive to Home Depot, but everything was so overpriced I couldn't bear. I gave Gilbert & Cole a try. On my first trip, I saved $2 on the paint brushes I previously bought at Ace and they were the same price as Home Depot. The store is not as large as HD or Lowe's, but they have all the basics if you realize you need something in the middle of a project. The great service and convenience were additional positives that made the overall experience exactly what you look for at your local hardware store. First I am not a novice carpenter, I needed more than 40 pieces of PT lumber and other materials. When I checked the stock, the pieces in the bens were what everyone else didn't want, in rough shape, and in low numbers. I was told they would hand select from a new pallet and that their workers are "very good" at avoiding the bad pieces. I was assured that workers would select pieces that were straight, with at least one clean edge and no large cracks. What did I get, about a third of the pieces were the rejects, not what was promised. I would have done better at Home Depot!

I've cheated and gone to The depot to save money or home decor group in Swpt because it's closer, but never again. Recently I've redone three baths. Next two projects I went back to waters and brown. Heidi helped me match pictures and made spot on recommendations. I brought in samples and images and she gave great choices to match or coordinate. Then over to the counter for the actual paint. John couldn't be nicer and more helpful (plus he actually remembers me by name and project). Some projects easier than others. More complicated (expensive) projects he gave me questions to ask my contractor and alternatives. I so appreciate the service here. It's second to none and the quality can't be beat. They've earned my loyalty and I'll return the favor by encouraging anyone to go here first and last. This is how a customer centric business is run.
