A few years ago I got a chair cushion and pillow upholstered here and it was a great experience. I have the cutest 5 lb dog who has decided to chew on things while I am gone and she chewed 2 different vintage footstools that had covers my late mom had needlepointed. I was so bummed and didn't want to have to reupholster them. Gumer and his team were able to repair both of them perfectly! She had chewed 2 corners of one and a large corner spot on the other. Also he is a very nice person and his prices are SUPER reasonable. I would definitely go back with larger projects when I have them; took a look at the fabrics he has and thought there were many great options so I'd just get the fabric from him. HIGHLY recommended! read more

I called to ask a question about upholstery repair on a very inexpensive sofa that I bought from Ashley furniture its sort of like a plastic leather (pleather) the cheap stuff once I told the person who answered this fact, he just hung up the phone. I guess I got my answer. Hahahaha read more

This was the first time I used Windy City Upholstery . I was SO pleased! Gumer did a fantastic job on two old wing back chairs, recovering them beautifully, re-filling the seat cushions and even repairing wobbly wings of the chairs. His turn around time was amazing, back in less than 2 weeks. It is a small business and extremely well run. HIs prices are fair. Give them a try: you will NOT be disappointed ! read more

If I could give a 6 star review I would. I took in a mid-century modern chair and some fabric after getting a reasonable estimate by sending a few pictures. They checked with me during the job and even sent pictures of progress. In less than 3 days I have a stunning chair that looks better than new. One of the best companies I've worked with in Chicago without a doubt! read more

I needed a comforter and duvet cover reduced in size to fit a new smaller bed. The duvet cover has detailing along the edges that made it a challenge. My tailor was not able to do it for me. I called Gumer and told him what I needed to have done. He asked me to send him pictures of my items. From seeing the pictures he said he could do it and quoted me a price. I brought it in and met his wife Modesta - who is very kind and helpful. The work was finished in a few days and was excellent - I cannot tell the difference where they did the work. I am very pleased! I did see a lot of pieces that they had upholstered for other clients and I can tell you that they do beautiful work. I highly recommend them! read more

These guys know their stuff. They reupholstered several cushions for me and I'm very pleased with the results. They have the creative and tactical skills to be great advisors and technicians. Their prices are reasonable and their work is impeccable. My only complaint is the communication. They were surprisingly difficult to get ahold of sometimes and did not have any type of voicemail set up, at least in the months I worked with them on a couple of projects. I do understand that it's a challenge for small businesses. I do recommend making an appointment, if you can get them on the phone! The only potential problem with dropping in is that they are not always around during business hours. Again - it's an understandable challenge for such a small shop. Just FYI, they only take cash and checks! read more

Windy City upholstery is the BEST! In only 9 days (and this includes a holiday weekend) they finished my heirloom grandmother's chair. Incredible job! Beautiful matching of striped fabric. I'd had this chair recovered 4 other times and the other upholsterers did not bother to strip off the old fabric or stuff the chair cushion. But Windy City Uphol. did! Gumer and his crew did such a professional job. I'd use them again in a Windy City moment! Very fair prices and only $20 to pick up and deliver from Glenview. Lynn S read more

I can't recommend them enough. They did a fabulous job reupholstering the seat and ottoman cushions on a chair that my dog had scratched to death. They even checked inside the cushion & advised that the foam covering was very old & torn and told me they would replace it as part of the repair. They matched the cloth pattern perfectly, and they did the whole thing at a very reasonable price and quickly. Excellent business that should be supported! Susan read more

Checked a handful of furniture upholstery shops in the area and decided on Windy City because of the friendly, helpful owner who immediately understood what I was asking for, gave a fair price, and completed the work on time with great craftsmanship. Highly recommended. read more

This is my second time taking something to Gumer at Windy City. This time it was the pillow seat for a chair. The price was very reasonable and since he only needed 1 1/2 yards of fabric and I had to buy 2 (brought my own fabric from JoAnn's), I had him also make a throw pillow. Both were ready in 2 business days even though I told him no rush! And they look fabulous. High quality quick work at great prices. I highly recommend this place! read more

Great place to have something redone. Fast, fair price and easy to work with. A+ from my side!! read more

I was surprised to see that Windy City had zero reviews. We took our shabby-chic garage sale sofa here a couple of years ago. Although they have a large selection of fabrics, the owner was quite OK with me getting something more unique at a textile discounter--he even made pillows with the scraps. in addition to the re-upholstery job, we had them make a custom slipcover. read more

I had them recover a wing chair that was from my Great Aunt back in the late 90's. I moved in 2011 and had them redo the same wing chair again to match my new house. Both times they did a great job. I will be using them again this summer for 2 chairs that were my Mother's and a headboard. read more

We have an oversized, king size bed headboard that would not fit through the upstairs doorway. Gummer cut and reupholstered the headboard so that it could clear the doorway for us. The bed made it up stairs and is beautiful, we're finally sleeping in our beautiful bed completely assembled now. Had we tried to cut it ourselves, it would have been a hack job, but he made it look professional, as though it came from the warehouse that way. Thank you so much for the kind, honest, prompt, reasonably priced and professional service! read more

Wow! Where to begin! I dropped off a giant sofa seat cushion that was leaking feathers, but had 2 kids in the car, so the lovely woman working here came out to the car to help me carry it in & then sat with my kids while I explained the situation to Gustav- super quick & painless, gave me a very reasonable quote & finished a week ahead of what he'd proposed! He delivered it to my house in the snow & its gorgeous. I'm having a window seat cushion made now, and he came in & took all the measurements for me, and explained my options of foam vs down feather, or a mix of the two to save costs & keep the plush nature of down feathers. I'll swing by & pick out a fabric they have in stock, and I can't wait to have a cozy reading nook in my house! A+++++ for this business! I know I'll be a customer for life! read more

As a follow-up to my 11/17/13 review, I found another hole in the fabric supplied by Windy City & it has started to unravel, right in the center of my large easy chair. Within 4 months, my investment in upholstery is worthless. read more

I had two chairs upholstered for my Mother. They did a beautiful job. In fact, the best I had ever seen. And he delivered them directly to my mother's residence. And they were quick. I was be calling them again read more

After dealing with several high-end upholstery places, which were costly and unreliable, I found Windy City Upholstery. Gumer did a first-rate job reupholstering a sofa and two chairs, slipcovering another chair, and making pillows. Prices are very reasonable and craft is excellent. Moreover, he completed the work in less than three weeks and delivered the furniture on the date scheduled--no fuss, no excuses. Accommodating, accessible, no frills, just solid work. I have several other items needing reupholstering and will send them to Windy City in the near future. I can't speak highly enough of this place. read more

Gumer and his team are *outstanding*! I cannot rate them too highly. I brought them two very broken down antique armchairs, along with my own striped fabric. I've just gotten them back today (delivered!), and they are amazing. The prices are reasonable, the service and skill extraordinary. read more

Iv used these guys a couple of times now for my cafe, and the results have been great and the prices reasonable.

They're great. Just had a wing chair redone and it looks wonderful. They were quick. They picked it up, delivered it back to my home. Love how it looks and they did an excellent quality job. Good price. Great service. Highly recommend. Having one more chair covered! Super happy. read more

i had 8 cane backed dining chairs that had to be recaned. I called all over, and then called windycity. not only did they come pick up the chairs, they did such a good job i wanted to cry. ai never thought they would ever look good again. now I am so proud to show them off. They also redid my late husbands barber chair, and it looks beautiful. the pricing was I thought very fair and very reasonable. Thank you Windy City for your beautiful work read more
