I reached out via Yelp and got a quote for restuffing my three leather couch cushions. It took a week or so for me to be able to bring them in and when I did, it was a Thursday and they told me the cushions would be done Tuesday because they had to order the foam and it wouldn't deliver until Monday. They must've found some on hand foam because a few hours later I got a text that they would be ready the following day before noon (roughly 24 hours later). We brought Al two of our couch cushions, one of which was pretty majorly damaged from our dogs. He got back to us with a quote quickly and when we brought the cushions in he said the turnaround would be 2-3 days, but he was done in a couple hours. He cautioned me that due to the size of the rip, there might be a visible seam where he did the repair but he was somehow able to fix it so it was absolutely imperceptible. Our couch looks fantastic! The upshot: Great work, great price, wonderful people. I happened upon a beat up George Nelson steel frame chair from the fifties in someone's basement a few years ago. I wanted to restore it, but I was scared about A) Ruining the original quality, and B) Spending a huge amount of money. After I managed to find a good quality vintage fabric match, I finally took a leap of faith. At Jorge's they clearly understood the quality of furniture they were working with, even though it looked awful to start with. They were also kind and friendly, making it an absolute pleasure to work with them. No snooty North Shore attitude here! The restoration they did was extraordinary. Really extraordinary. Replaced the foam cushioning, expertly recreated the original piping, and left it with perfectly smooth fabric surfaces. They even restored the dingy walnut arm rests, unbidden. These are master craftsmen who should probably have charged me double for this quality of work. After doing such a delightful job, they even went out of their way to figure out how to load it into our little sedan when we went to pick it up. They make me want to find other things to reupholster just to work with them again! read more

Slop job on my chair. Have to pay to get it redone somewhere else. I paid for an accent chair to be reupholstered. They made the cushion way too big for the chair and so it hangs off the chair and often slips off the chair because it is oversized. I contacted Alex at Jorge's for some cleaning and hole repair for our leather sofa. It is an old sofa, but of excellent quality, so instead of replacing, we wanted to just have it fixed up. After the hole was repaired, within a week or so, it began to open up. I contacted Alex, and he had his best guy come and repair it...problem solved. After a bit of time longer, I started noticing more holes developing in the sofa. Again, this was a very old sofa and the wear and tear was just beginning to take its toll. Alex recommended just reupholstering the whole sofa as a better and more cost effective (in the long run) solution. We just got the sofa back today. It looks excellent. I had two antique armchairs that needed to be completely redone (stripped, stained and upholstered) and I had spent an extraordinary amount of time, effort and money on finding the perfect fabric overseas for the chairs that I had shipped. Needless to say, I was anxious to find the right upholsterer, especially since I was not working with a designer. I had a recommendation but since the recommendation was very unresponsive, I went online, read reviews and ended up reaching out to Jorges. Alex was very responsive and the initial quote comparable. I had a very good feeling when he came to pick up the chairs and I was able to explain to him exactly what I was looking for as I had a very particular vision for the placement of the fabric. At that time I also asked for some additional work that was not in the original quote such as velvet seat covers to protect the chairs from my cat, we quickly agreed on the additional cost and it was not a problem. I did ask if I could come meet with the upholsterer to go over the placement of the fabric on the chair and was told that that would not be a problem. Alex kept my apprised of the progress (even after hours and on the weekends even though I told him I did not expect that) and I was able to go to the workshop to work with them as to the exact placement of the fabric on the chair which was very important to me. It did turn out that the stripping and staining of the chairs was a lot more work than what was estimated as they were painted with two different colors and had a lot more ridges and edges and needed extra coats to get the tone I wanted. Since the estimate was given based on just photographs I completely understood and had no problem paying more for the refinishing of the chairs. In my line of work, I am constantly asked for estimates as well and quite often the cost goes up once I dive into the matter as things pop up that I could not foresee initially and I always appreciate if my clients understand. Thus, I had no issue with it, besides, the work was done very well and it was worth it to me. I just got the chairs delivered today and I could not be happier. Alex and his team of upholsterers really listened to what my vision was, and made it a reality and the quality is excellent all around. It was a very collaborative effort, they understood that I was not a pro and had my own way of communicating what I wanted and they listened and used their impeccable skills to create two fabulous chairs, lots of pillows and the fanciest seat protectors for the most deserving senior rescue cat. Big Thank you to Alex and his team and I can highly recommend Jorges Upholstery and will go back to them if I have something else to upholster.
