I have been meaning to write a review for some time. I unequivocally recommend Leather Solutions of Chicago. In January of 2020, I opened up my home to foster 4 pandemic puppies. Sadly, my leather couch and leather chair did not fair well against their razor sharp teeth. I had 2 options, buy new or pay to repair it. We had paid quite a bit brand new 10 years ago. If I could give 1000 stars, I would. Workers spilled beer on my beautiful aniline leather couch while I was out of the country, and I came back to a huge, dark, raised stain. Multiple cleaners told me it was ruined. Rachelle and Fidelino were kind, responsive, and really went above and beyond to help me - and Fidelino was able to completely remove the stain. Holy Moly people. This organization is top notch in service, knowledge, experience, efficiency, kindness, peace, love and understanding. I know that is bit dramatic, but I'm pretty sweet on Rachelle at Leather Solution. Imagine, if you will, this: Bought brand new espresso colored all leather couch and loveseat week of 7/30, delivered 8/4, all cushions destroyed by my asshole dog on 8/13. ALL 5 CUSHIONS - scratched and clawed down to the original color of the leather (saddle colored) - most dye (or wax, maybe) removed from each seat due to aggressive scratching all day long. Panicked, after a call from my furious husband who gets home before me, I made some calls and was referred to Leather Solution. I emailed on the website and got an email right back asking if they could contact me later on that evening, when back in the office. I spoke to Rachelle (such a kind, sweet soul) who listened to my story after reviewing my before and after pictures via email, and offered her expertise on how this leather was prepared in the first place by the manufacturer, the process at the tannery and what the entire process would be to return it to its original glory post 8/13. She would send a foreman out the NEXT DAY, TO DO THE WORK IN MY HOME!! HE CAME, HE CORRECTED THE COLOR AND HE LEFT in two hours. A true craftsman, the color is exactly the same as it was and the scratches barely visible. My husband said he worked skillfully to match the color with heat and dye and conditioner along with lots of massaging the leather to bring the wax back up to the surface. So the only solution was to strip them down to the frame and build them back up again. Which they did, perfectly. And improved on original design, by adding straps to keep the horizontal cushions from sliding out of position. Plus they created custom heavy-duty slipcovers that they installed on-site, after letting me see the uncovered pieces first. They picked up, and delivered to my 3rd floor unit. Cheerfully. After searching for a leather chair for my husband (third year anniversary gift), I accepted I could not get anything extraordinary for my $1000 budget. I turned to Craig's list and found a leather chair in "excellent" condition. I loved the shape, and the chair originally sold for up to $3000. The seller had it priced at $399. I went to the seller's home and saw a blue chair - despite poor lighting making it appear brown in the picture on Craig's List. It was not in excellent condition, quite distressed and worn, but I liked the idea of getting a $3000 chair for $399 (it was well made, with down stuffing, castors and wood framing). I almost passed it up, but thought that with the extra $600, perhaps I could get it dyed. I had several estimates, including one from The Leather Solutions. When TLS sent me a repair quote, I admitted that it was getting to the top of my budget and I still wanted it colored (I only had $600 left). There was a lot of email communication, and after a few emails back and forth, they offered the job with a significant discount if I could get the chair to them right away. (They made it so I could fit it in my anniversary budget!) Since I was now at the top of my budget, I asked if I could drop-off and pick-up the chair to avoid the delivery fee. While they said I could do this, they included waiving that fee as well if I was able to do the job right away! Someone picked up my chair and the deposit. I emailed pictures of chairs with a color range I was hoping to obtain for the blue leather chair. They gave me a two week timeline, and said they would do their best to get it done by our anniversary. After a week, I checked in and received immediate communication that everything was on track, but that it might not be done until a few days after our anniversary. It was an apologetic email, explaining that they did not want to disappoint. I was hardly upset; I would much rather have the chair results perfect, as well! A few days later, I had an email asking to confirm our anniversary date. The next day (two days before our anniversary), I had an email from Rachel with "good news." Of course, I assumed that the chair coloring process was complete, and that I would receive the chair in time for our anniversary. Instead, she communicated that the original leather was very dry and that they reupholstered the entire chair for me with overstock leather (maintaining the original tags), AND they could deliver it the day before our anniversary! They worked over the weekend in order to get the chair done for our anniversary! I was not available during the original time they asked to deliver, but they still made it happen by rerouting their delivery person so he could drop it off later when I would be home. I cannot believe the amazing attention, communication and generosity to make our anniversary perfect. I did not think I could afford an extraordinary chair, but when it arrived, it was not a breath short of extraordinary. I could have never gifted a chair of this quality and beauty without The Leather Solutions. Back in the day, I purchased a loveseat and chair from the now defunct Leather Center in a very unusual 'greige' color. I cared for them accordingly, using the specific products prescribed. Over time and many moves, these well loved pieces began to show their age. I had attempted my own re-stuffing a few years ago, trying to keep their wear from getting in the way of their enjoyment. I even thought it was time for them to be replaced with new pieces, but I couldn't bring myself to to part with them. I read the reviews for Leather Solutions and thought that a reupholster job may be what my pieces needed. I contact the team, and they sent Fidelino to come to my home to assess what was needed. He was very friendly and was surprised that they pieces were in such great shape. He explained that many people over clean their items, unknowingly removing the leather glazing. He was impressed with the quality of their build, telling me today most arm rests of couches are built from cardboard that crushes if you sit on the arm! He liked their design and told me that I was right to seek out a reupholstering adding that the color and modern design are not seen in today's furnishings. My back and arm rest pieces zip off, which he said is an added bonus in the reconstruction cost. He said I would be very happy when the pieces were redone. He was right! I'm sure that the exceptional work they do keeps them busy, which is why I had experienced some coordination issues with the office They did get back to me promptly each time I contacted them about my questions, schedule and trying to align my building services with their delivery timetables and my job. However each time I had to coordinate the contact, not the other way around. I agree with other posters that while there are other less expensive providers to chose from, I am extremely happy with the results of their service. An unexpected bonus, the same team came to my house for both the pickup and delivery team. They were also very nice and professional. If your pieces do not zip off, ask them if its possible to add zippers into the cost of the work. It will pay off in the end. Zippers make it easier to fix just the parts that need them. Overall, you will certainly pay less to reupholster than buy something new that is poorly made. I highly recommend that before you consider replacing your leather furniture with something else, look to Leather Solution for an option you may not realize you have. read more

I took the cover of a leather couch cushion here that was saturated with a mixture of body water and a homemade "remedy" of baking soda, water, and dish soap that sat for about 3 days. When I took it into the shop even the worker grimaced. He quoted me and set expectations that they could improve it but it may not be back to 100%. Well, maybe they were purposely underpromising, because they absolutely overdelivered. It looks spectacular; they are magicians. We have a 5 month old distressed leather couch that was badly drawn on by my 5 year old, with his fingernails...he scratched large smiley faces, circles, x's, and other abstract ehm designs onto the couch. Mind blown and expectations exceeded! I had been putting off having my leather reclining armchair from Pottery Barn restored for well over a year. After much research I chose Leather Solution and am delighted that I did. All communication was via email; however, Rachelle was quick at replying and kept me informed each step of the way. The pick up and delivery were within the exact 45 min/1 hour time frame quoted to me. The pick up team was excellent in discussing my finish options, showing me how much darker the original finish would be as compared to the faded coloring it was when they took the chair from me. I have had the chair for over 12 years and am still in awe after it was delivered back to me this morning. It looks like it did at the time of my original purchase.
