I have lived at my condo about a block away and for the last 30 years and for the last 15 years of my mother's life she lived with me as she was handicapped and used a wheelchair. Well, the spot where my friend placed the bench was exactly where I would wheel her out for the fireworks every Wednesday and sometimes on Saturday. Well, because it is a beautiful bench and had a plaque with my Mom's name it is used quite often and sometimes people do not respect the bench and so it was wearing down and I needed to have it sanded and retained.... I talked with friends and searched the internet quite thoroughly and found Chicago Wood Refinishing. I saw the website and the work that they displayed and decided to give them a chance and met with Kevin....actually, Kevin came to me at the site of the bench and surveyed the bench's condition and told me what they would be able to do to restore the bench to its original condition. Kevin came out a second time and removed the bench planks and took them back to their business offices, where he and his father did a phenomenal job in bringing the color and quality of the bench back to its first day it was displayed to me in July 2024. CUSTOMER BEWARE, DOES NOT HONOR SERVICE WARRANTY! I paid…read moreDon's Auto Interiors to replace the convertible top on my 1999 Porsche 911. Unfortunately, the installation was not completed correctly due to their technician's lack of knowledge and led to multiple issues, including improper top alignment, damage to the new top material, modification of my vehicle without my authorization, and water intrusion that later resulted in additional repairs. Upon pickup, I immediately noticed a few issues: 1. There was a gap on the passenger side between the convertible top and the door frame (this didn't exist before the replacement). The technician said that it will take some weeks for the fabric to stretch out and get fitted to the frame. 2. There were two areas where the top was already damaged (small nicks) which the technician said was due to the top getting hooked by the door. Due to the top getting hooked by the door, the technician also said they had to slightly grind away the corner of my door so that it wouldn't further cut my top material. 3. Last issue and the most minor, the fabric from the interior has a plastic brace that clicks over an interior bar and this kept getting unclipped. Unfortunately, the gap never resolved, and I later learned the top had not been properly aligned during installation which led to water intrusion that eventually led to additional repairs which included the replacement of my water damaged ECU. After discovering the problem, I contacted Don's and had to wait one month and a half for an appointment. When I finally brought the car back for inspection, the technician was unable to identify the exact repair needed and directed me to Porsche for further diagnosis and to replace the ECU that was damaged before they could correct the top installation. Porsche confirmed that the top had been installed incorrectly and required alignment correction and replaced my ECU. I contacted Don's immediately, and spent months contacting Don's and their manager Desmond trying to get my installation corrected. Don's offered a replacement top but refused to install it, refused to pay for installation elsewhere, and refused to provide a refund for the installation service I originally paid for. In other words, I paid for a completed installation and correction of any installation-related issues, but the shop ultimately stated it was no longer capable of performing the work. What has been most disappointing is not only the installation itself, but Don's and their manager Desmond's lack of accountability, lengthy delays, poor communication, and lack of a meaningful resolution. I trusted the shop's expertise when I raised concerns immediately after pickup, and months later I am still left with the cost and burden of finding another shop to complete the work correctly. My experience can be summarized as follows: * I paid for a convertible top replacement that was not installed correctly. * I reported the issues immediately upon pickup. * Porsche later confirmed the top was improperly aligned during installation. * I incurred additional expenses for diagnosis and repairs related to the water intrusion. * Months passed while I attempted to have the issue corrected. * Don's ultimately stated they could not perform the corrective installation because they no longer had a qualified technician. * Despite being unable to complete the work, the shop refused to refund the installation cost.

I had a new chaise cushion made as a replacement for my old one, which had endured several years of use and damage. I brought the liner/cushion cover to these guys, and they had it done in about 4 hours. Just in time for a house party that I was having on that day. The first quote they gave me was around $270, but after they saw my old one it was about $425 in total costs. I have to say it was well worth it. The cushion is very firm and the quality is far superior than other upholstery places that I researched, and talked to other professionals who have experience with interior design. Louis refinished a chair that I had. See the pictures. I had two similar swivel, rocking chairs that you can't buy anymore in this style which i really like. So I wanted to update one to see how it would turn out. The brown one still has the original fabric, and the blue-gray one is the one he refinished. It turned out great, and he was very nice to work with. I had a budget and he was able to find me a good fabric that met my costs needs. I am very happy with how it turned out, which looks like new. Of course one project seems to always leads to another, so I'll probably have to do the brown one in the near future. I liked his work so much I signed up for Yelp and this is my first review. read more

I didn't find anything I like initially and Edgar brought more and recommended some that he thought I would like. He is absolutely right! He also replaced the cushions and made the chair super comfortable. I couldn't be happier. Thank you and would definitely use them again. As for price, I think they are fair. I asked for an estimate for 2 leather couch cushions. James asked for pictures and measurements. He quoted me a price. He quoted me over triple the original price once I bought the leather and brought them in. I was told turn around would be 3 weeks. And verbally promised they would try to get them done sooner. 14 weeks, several empty promises, the gamut of excuses, and many ignored phone calls later, I finally received my cushions. The corners are lopsided, the cushions are uneven, and I was gaslit to believe "Thats how they originally were". I don't think so Karl. I was also threatened with "I have 6 guys here who will rip those cushions out of your car" when I demanded a discount for their less-than-superior service. The hostility proved their guilt. The interior of the business is filthy and unfit for any nonworker to enter. It will be interesting to see what mold spores and bugs my cushions will release after being held hostage in their "warehouse" for over a quarter of a year.

At first the rip didn't bother me, but then it got bigger and bigger. It probably didn't help that my children kept sitting right on top of the rip. Sigh... Finally i couldn't handle looking at it and reached out to my decorator to see if we could get it reupholstered or if she could help me find a new piece of furniture. She suggested getting someone to sew the rip. She said it wouldn't be perfect, but would hold me over until I was ready for the rest of the room. We had just finished a bathroom remodel and think she was well aware I was over pouring money into the house for awhile. I did request a quote on Yelp and Padi responded right away. They confirmed they could fix the rip for $225, but warned me it wouldn't be perfect. We set a time for them to come by the next week and they showed up right on the dot. I showed them the rip and they looked skeptical that they could fix it, but got right to work and 30 minutes later it wasn't perfect (as they claimed), but it was SO much better...and well worth $225! My biggest mistake was not calling them right when it started ripping because I think then it would have been even less noticeable. I"ll definitely reach out to them directly in the future for any furniture restoration needs. They were responsive, reliable and did exactly what they did they were going to do. In fact, the finished product was even better than I expected!
