Great experience and quality work! Our dog decided to enjoy the arms of matching wing chairs, and I was undecided what to do. We've had the chairs for 10 years, but the are good quality (Room & Board) and lightly used. I initially planned on having arm covers made, and was still able to get the fabric from R&B. However after looking at them, Louis said he could simply replace one panel on each chair. It costs a bit more than the arm covers, but so glad I went this route. They look brand new again. And the picked them up and delivered them! Highly recommend! read more

Truly the best! Such beautiful craftsmanship and care put into every piece. Louis has reupholstered a chair, made dining cushion and repaired the mechanism on a roman shade after the manufacturer ghosted me. I just dropped off a few more items for Louis to work his magic on. Their location on Clark now has so many fabric options. You will not be disspaointed! read more

I have so many good things to say about Louis and his team, I don't even know where to start! - First off, Louis' communication was beyond expectation -- he was extremely responsive and professional. Both on Yelp and via text / call - Second, he offers scheduled pick up and drop off for your furniture which all the other companies I looked at did not offer - He has a great, creative eye for design and worked with me and my fiancé to find the perfect fabric for our chairs - Louis offers an extremely wide range of high quality fabrics and materials to choose from (you will be sure to find exactly what you need -- and Louis was happy to coach us through the process) - He also has really great and flexible hours to accommodate even the busiest professionals (evenings + Saturdays) - Lastly, and most importantly, is the quality of his work! He took 15+ year old chairs and made them look brand new (even better than the original if I'm being honest!). We know we are going to get decades more out of these chairs because of the quality and care Louis put into his work. OH! And the price was extremely competitive and reasonable based on the other quotes I received. I'm sure I'm leaving out something, but I'll leave with this: we could not be more happy with our newly upholstered chairs -- we've already received countless compliments and we will absolutely be going back to Louis for any of our upholstery needs. Thanks again for everything, Louis!! read more

My 6 dining chairs were beautifully and skillfully reupholstered. He was able to center the design on all chairs. I highly recommend him.

Louis is the BEST!!! Highly recommend for any upholstery needs. I popped into the shop because it's near my house and I needed some custom (LARGE) cushions made for seating in my new home and I'm so glad I did. Louis was quick to reply to everything, came out to take measurements, left the fabric books with me so that I could spend a few days picking out exactly what I wanted. The work arrived promptly and I could not be happier with the outcome. The craftsmanship is excellent. Everything turned out exactly how I wanted. Lily and Louis did work on a pair of armchairs that, more of less, had to be completely rebuilt outside the frames- the fabric, springs and supports were all rusted and ruined. They provided a reasonable quote, helped us choose the fabric from their large selection and picked up the chairs when they were ready to work on them. The work was, to say the least, superb. They turned out more beautifully than I could have imagined and their attention to detail was spectacular. they gave some old chairs a new life, and I'm so glad I used them for this project. I have never hired anyone to fix furniture before, so I relied on Yelp as well as the great vibe I got from speaking to Louis and from looking at his website. I felt confident I would receive a returned chair that would make me happy in realizing I did a cool thing by keeping this piece. I think it's a classic and now it looks like one again instead of an older chair past it's prime. It's revived! Kudos to this lovely company. read more

I can't express enough how great was the service I received. I had six dining room chairs that needed to be reupholstered. Louis picked up the chairs at my apartment. He was ontime, thoughtful, and very careful with the chairs. The price to have the work done was much less than that quoted by a shop recommended by a decorator. The job was completed within a few weeks. The workmanship was impeccable. A week after I received the chairs, a guest damaged the fabric on one. Louis picked up the chair. He found that only minimal work was required to repair the damage. He returned the chair and refused payment. He is a class act. read more

I finally decided to reupholster my dining chairs and after doing some research I came across Louis Custom Upholstery. All I can say is wow and thank you. I bought a piece of table cloth from Turkey and asked Louis to make a cushion out if it. The yardage was barely enough and Louis managed to even match the pattern on the side! An absolutely beautiful job done by him. Please see the pictures. Because he did such beautiful job, I asked him to do some uphostery for my dinning room chairs. He helped me to choose the fabric and they turned out fantastic!!! Thanks a lot Louis!!! read more

The work of this shop is exemplary! Luis And Co reupholstered a chair for my bedroom. Custom made in the early 90s in North Carolina, this cherry-legged, quality piece withstood cat and smoke damage. I had waited years have it reupholstered, anxious it could never be what it once was. Decor changes in my apartment made me finally consider it. I provided this fabric and the shop picked up and delivered the chair within the promised 2 weeks. I'd be hard pressed to find any work that comes close to the beautiful results. The photos on social media caused quite a stir. Do not hesitate to engage their services. read more

Had an office chair in desperate need of reupholstering. Louis spent time asking questions before working. They also had tons of fabrics to choose from. He beat his estimated time of three weeks. Louis helped me to reupholster a couch and dining room chair cushions. He responded right away, helped me pick our fabrics that were gorgeous, but also good for a family of 5 with 2 dogs. My living room chairs and ottomans were looking pretty shabby, but I couldn't find any new ones that I really liked so I thought why not get them reupholstered. A friend recommended Louis Custom Upholstering on N. Damen Ave. I couldn't be happier with the way they turned out. Louis and Lily did a great job from helping to pick the fabric, making some suggestions and getting the work done on time. They estimated a two week turn-around and they were finished just within two weeks. I highly recommend them. read more
