We will never come here again. After our experience, I truly do not understand how this business has any good reviews. The sales person we met with was disrespectful, dishonest (tried to sell us a vehicle with a different engine/drive train than we wanted without telling us), wasted our time, and lost us the vehicle we came in for. We came in as soon as we could, financially ready, and could have been driving away in our new vehicle within minutes... Instead, the salesperson stalled for HOURS. A couple that came in AFTER we had ended up getting the vehicle we were already there for with money in hand. Was this stalling just to get someone else to buy with their in house financing? I don't know. What I do know, is that being so rude and disrespectful that it leaves my wife crying... that is absolutely unacceptable. I spoke with a manager after this, and while he was nicer and much more straightforward than the salesperson we spoke with, the issues still remain unresolved and we are without a new vehicle. No offer to secure a new order with a fixed, contracted price for the vehicle that was yanked away from us. No price adjustment on other trims. Nothing. The most they would offer was a year older model that they obviously couldn't sell the previous year, that did not have specs we wanted; this vehicle was the full, marked up price as well, less the "employee pricing" which is a *Ford-offered* rebate. We did our best to shop local and were treated poorly for it. Now we will just have to pick up a vehicle on the mainland and ship it here. I would much rather deal with air travel, shipping and registration documents, etc., than deal with Windward Ford ever again. read more

At one point this place was amazing, recently we sent our car there for service and a recall, long story short they had our car for over a month and there was no communication, it sucks because we had to rent a car. I was charged $225 for the diagnostic which you have been waved since the gas cap apparently is defective. The service manager Devin wanted nothing to do with it... I will never step foot in this dealership, extremely bad customer service especially when I just spent $1000 for the 25K service. You lost my business, I hope many people can read this and take their business elsewhere. Good going Devin after spending 83K on my truck. Keep that $225, it will cost you a lot more in the long run. Dear God! They are the SLOWEST mechanics I've ever encountered!! My most recent visit was for an Oil Change and Tire Rotation. 3 HOURS!! And STILL WAITING!! For a damn Oil Change! And on a side note: Don't expect anything in the waiting lounge. . no snacks, no coffee, nothing even on the t.v. that just sits there turned off. . I used to be a huge fan of Windward Ford and even recommended it to friends. Which makes the most recent experience more bitterly disappointing. Some time ago the windshield wiper fluid in my Ford Mustang became very weak, reaching maybe halfway up the windshield if that. I took the car to Windward Ford. They worked on it for a bit and said that they un-clogged the pipes or something similar. I paid about $1k, part of it was some unrelated maintenance which they suggested. After the repair, the wiper fluid worked slightly better for a short time, then progressively stopped working completely. I took the car back to Windward Ford. After inspecting the car, they said the motor needed replacing, which would cost another $1k and take about a week since they had to order the parts. OK I left the car with them. Two weeks later and no word about my car, I called Windward Ford. I was told the parts hadn't arrived yet, so I asked if I could take the car home and bring it back once the parts were ready. I was told no, since the car was disassembled and not drivable?? I asked if there's any ETA about when the repair should be completed, to which the receptionist redirected me to another phone number of a person who would know the details. That call went to voicemail, I left a message, to which no one returned that call. After a few more days I went there in person to ask about my car. I was told the parts had just arrived, and it should be a few more days tops. A week later I finally got a call that my car was ready, over three weeks after I left it there. I went to pick up my car and paid $1152. I was not offered any refund for the previous repair which repaired nothing. Guess what, the windshield wiper fluid, again, did not work properly. The fluid barely reaches halfway up the windshield at most. Whoever worked on it didn't even bother to check that the repair was successful. I went back to the front desk and explained the situation. I was immediately offered another repair, they can replace the washer nozzle and the washer hose. This one will cost $600. This, mind you, was without anyone actually looking at my car. They failed to fix the problem twice, but they are happy to keep guessing and charging me. I said that this felt wrong, two visits, I'm out $2k, and the problem's the same as it was when I first brought the car in. The receptionist (who was actually very professional and courteous throughout) said she would write an email to her manager and he would call me to make it right. That was last week Friday, now it's Thursday and I have yet to receive a call from the manager. I'm done with Windward Ford at this point. I feel ripped off. My advice, take your car elsewhere. read more

Even the parts department won't help you out at this place. I called them and asked for a price to replace my Sideview mirror. It was 2500 bucks but he said he could get it down to 2250 I still thought that was pretty high, so I tried to look around online For the part so I called back and asked for the part number but they said they can't give it out because that takes away business from them. So I call Ford corporate and they just tell you to go to fordparts.com and type in your Vin number to get the part number. This is my 3rd time trying to schedule an airbag service. I keep receiving notices from Ford that I need to have my airbag fixed due to the recall. Now it is the 3rd time I have been trying to make an appt, but somehow my appt mysteriously goes unavailable a day before. I get a call from a representative telling me that they do not have a mechanic available at that time. This is gross negligence and incompetence, I have documented how it is the 3rd time I've been trying to schedule an appt to get the airbag in my Ford fixed. Sales staff kept the front entrance open after hours just for us to drop vehicle off. JR (Service Manager) called me mid afternoon to let me know vehicle is repaired and ready to pick up. Since I couldn't make it there before closing time, JR parked vehicle just outside sales department and just picked it up at 6:15pm. Awesome car buying experience! We've only owned Toyota prior to this experience. In Hawaii Toyota has a monopoly, so prices are set in stone. Don't get me wrong, I've always felt I got/ will get a good deal. With that in mind, I was cautious when I contacted Windward Ford. I brokered a starting point over the internet, Matt Smith. He was very accommodating, patient, and extremely helpful. He even respected my request to stop the process by not contacting me with more than an occasional email/ text (put buying a truck on hold due to work). When I reentered the market, without hesitation I contacted him. He did a warm handoff to Wayne Fukumoto. Glad it was Wayne. Such a genuine, up front, honest guy. He gave great advice, patient with my slow decision making, advocated for me while balancing business needs. His long career in car sales was evident. Request for Wayne. You won't be disappointed! AVOID THEM!!!!! We brought our Ford Transit in on July 5th for the air conditioner to be fixed under the manufacturer warranty (manufacturer defect!). It is now August 7th and they have lied to us for over a month! "The part has still not come in" "they will get to it next week" "just come grab the van until we get the part" (which is a liability as the air is broken in a 15 passenger van, that has no rear windows!!!!) "It'll be fixed Friday" "it's in the shop now, but it'll take a couple of days to fix" on and on of lies! They still have our van! Going on 30 business days in the shop and our van is going to be a lemon, under the lemon law!!! Our poor kids have been stuck in the house for over a month! They didn't even offer us a loaner van! Perception is everything and a friendly sales staff can only go so far. We all know that a dealer is mostly dependent on their Service Department, so it puzzles me why this department is lacking in "Service." I took my vehicle in for warranty work and it has taken these guys two times to try and correct it, with the last time being the worst result! I really don't understand why. I messaged Jr. Serna who has asked me to give them one more try to correct the issue. He called and I missed it. I sent an e-mail reply answering his questions, then later the same day called and left a VM, requesting a call back; still unanswered with no response. I have hope that he'll respond and do the right thing. Keeping your customers happy goes beyond the sales experience, it extends through the service department as well and this is why Windward Ford only gets TWO stars. read more

I traded in my car the other day for the mini van of my dreams and I am so excited about it still. The customer service was beyond excellent. I don't typically write reviews, but I went into the dealership with my guard up expecting the typical predatory shark car salespeople, but Bill was so nice, helpful and very interesting to talk to. I am very worried about COVID, they were very cognizant of this and provided hand sanitizer and had plexiglass barriers up at the desks. Although the whole process took about 4 hours (including test drive), Bill and Don were both so nice I didn't even notice how much time had gone by. The gentleman that I was talking to was very respectful and polite and said he needed to get an estimate of all of the items and he would call back. He called back a few hours later and said for the parts and installation would cost around 1300 dollars!!! Had an excellent experience with Stuart in buying our used Honda Odyssey. Seriously, best car buying experience we've ever had. Unfortunately, our experience afterwards has tainted my view of the dealership, and I find myself very angry with it. Not even a week after buying the car, we started experiencing a nasty knocking/grating noise. We ended up taking it back a week later, explaining the problem, and getting into a loaner vehicle from the sales floor. Again, the sales guys had gone above and beyond in this regard. Now, we weren't expecting a perfect vehicle. We knew there would be things along the way that required attention, but we weren't expecting these things so soon. That being said, the sales guys lent us a vehicle from the sales floor until our warranty kicked in, two weeks later. Kevin is the name of the guy we dealt with in service. He had our vehicle for a almost three weeks. He called me saying that it was time to pick it up, and so we loaded the family up and went to pick it up. He said there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. When I got into the van, the check engine light was on, and the oil needed a change. He told me he was just going to reset the lights, and top off fluids, so he sent us home in the loaner. The noise came up while I had the engine on, sitting there, and Kevin proceeded to tell me that it was normal. It is not normal. Ford, Honda, whatever the vehicle, a loud metal grating noise is NOT normal. We come back a couple days later to actually pick up the vehicle, once again, Kevin telling us that everything was fine and he reset the lights without having investigated anything. I make a gigantic fuss, and Kevin proceeds to tell us again that nothing is wrong with the car, and he will be billing the sales department for almost 3 weeks of absolute nothing but sheer laziness. Not even two weeks later, the vehicle begins sputtering during acceleration, in addition to the loud grating noises that we were told were normal. The brakes are squealing. We take the car in to the Honda dealership, and the reparations to the vehicle we just purchased from Windward Ford of Hawaii will now cost almost 5k. This could have been handled with little financial damage to us by the service department, but they'd rather bill the sales floor for absolutely nothing and it's ridiculous. We are out 30k in a used vehicle, with 5k in pending repairs that are absolutely necessary. read more

WAYNE FUKUMOTO (Sales), GUY MELLO (Sales Manager), DON MINNIS (Business Manager) and CHRISTIAN DILULLO (Finance Manager) were ALL great to work with. I actually sought out WAYNE because I have done business with him twice previously at other dealerships. WAYNE, as usual, and GUY were very patient with me and made me feel like I wasn't even at a dealership. I'm completely serious. That's how genuine these guys are. I had been working with four different dealerships at the time looking for the right car and the other dealerships didn't make me feel like how Windward Ford did. And when I say patient, I had been undecided for nearly a month looking at several cars on their lot, and as usual, WAYNE never rushed me or pressured me. In the end, I got a brand new car with the color (exterior + interior) that I wanted and all the bells and whistles too (premium submodel). Also, the one year of complimentary service (e.g. oil change, etc.) is definitely a surprise bonus. Plus they gave me 5-years of FREE Roadside Assistance. Hopefully, I'll never need it but it's awesome to have nonetheless. Completing my paperwork with DON and CHRISTIAN was equally a great experience. So if you want REAL ALOHA type personable business handling, trust me on this. DEAL WITH THESE GUYS AT THE DEALERSHIP. My only negative experience was with the clean-up job that was done before I took ownership of the vehicle. The interior was TERRIBLY done. My windshield interior + dashboard screens were visibly smudged and smeared as if with a dirty cloth and my dashboard and seats were visibly and heavily dusty. Since this isn't an auto detail shop, I can't and won't let that affect my rating of the SALE. In closing and for you TL;DR types: The Sales and Finance team were A+ all around. I'm happy to be driving a FORD again. In my younger days, I drove a classic '69 Mustang Fastback and before that, an '84 Mustang 5.0. Both cars were VERY reliable and after reading reviews for my NEW car, I'm positively expecting the same with it. read more

Here we are, back again to give a second look at the service that Windward Ford offers to its long time customers. In my last review, I was very critical of the treatment I received from their staff and management. Once I made contact with yelp, I received a call from Ford, indicating that they are very aware of their online presence, and quickly offered to resolve my issues with their firm. In a matter of hours, Ford made it quite obvious, that customer service was a family concern. Working with Henry and Kevin restored my trust in the McKenna legacy. (5 star) Several weeks ago, my FLEX brake system caliper came into contact with a plastic bag on the freeway. (plastic bag laws work, generally speaking) This seemingly innocent bag wrapped itself around my caliper and managed to strangle the unit and brake lines. I had my FLEX towed from Honolulu to Windward Ford, on Thursday and met with the Ford service department on Friday. Kevin reassured me that he would have my car assessed and ready for repair, by the following Monday. When I returned on Monday, I learned that Kevin had resigned on the Friday I had met with him for service arrangements. This caught me off guard and raised concerns for my vehicle and its service needs. Not having missed a beat, the management team of Ford quickly assumed the void, created by Kevin's resignation and had my vehicle assessment completed. Additionally, they had made recommendations on my repair options, including an auto insurance claim. The ford team went above and beyond, to not only make clear recommendations for repairs, photographed the damages and secured the damaged parts evidence, that was necessary for me to negotiate terms with my insurance company. (Insurance company was splitting hairs about covering this incident, because they were not sure that impact with a plastic bag could be defined as a collision. Twelve days later, supported by lengthy discussions, emails and quick action on the part of the Windward Ford family, my vehicle was repaired and the insurance company conceded that this was a collision. I just wanted to say, that the Ford team truly made my family, feel like 'Ohana, in spite of the many challenges they were facing at the time. The worse, they do not even deserve the one star, maybe a half star for just opening the doors in the morning! I was overcharged 6 -8 hours on a questionable repair (it was questionable if it was needed) done by the new owner of Windward Ford in Kailua HI, service department. I have had this verified by 2 independent repair services. I was billed 8 hours for a repair that by industry standards should have taken 2.5 hours tops. Beware Ford motor company does not back up their products - the vehicles or the service preformed at their dealerships. Shocking for all the money they spend on advertising the Brand. Note, this dealership very recently was sold to new owners, apx. one year ago. We had bought cars from the previous owners of this dealership for over 25 years. I am in the market for a new sedan but would NOT consider purchasing a Ford at any dealership after this incident. I am seeking a refund for the overcharge and may need to go to small claims court to achieve this. When I confronted the dealership service manager for a refund - he offered to "style out" my SUV with a good cleaning and interior detail. The dealership could not even get this right I left the car there for a day and came back to find most of the dirt WAS washed off the exterior the tires were treated but nothing else. Saw the true colors of the salesman named Bill Cousino Jr. Initially, he was very nice and friendly. He even tried to relate with me because I'm a first responder- fire fighter here on Oahu but as soon as I tried to negotiate a vehicle that I was interested in, his true colors showed. Way to show some decency to first responders who serve our community. He said he had 30+ years experience being a salesman but i guess he didn't learn any customer service in those 30 years. He was very rude, disrespectful, and talked down on me. I should've listened to my wife when she initially told me that she didn't like the way he spoke to me. It was the worse experience I ever had at a dealership and I've been to a number of dealerships in the past. The only person that showed some respect and was a sort of approachable was Ken. I recently purchased a vehicle from Windward Ford the vehicle broke down in less than 3000 miles upon inspection of possible causes the certified mechanic shop (way more reputable than this place) I took it too said whoever did the last oil change (Windward Ford) overfilled the oil to the point of causing leaks and damage which I had to pay for. I told service manager JR about this at first it seemed like he was going to help but the guy won't return my calls or help at all Windward Ford could care less about service or people as long as they get payed your on your own. NEVER TAKE YOUR FORD VEHICLE TO WINDWARD FORD UNLESS YOUR LOOKING TO GET RIPPED OFF. Read on: My Porsche dealer family personally knew Mike McKenna from the 50's and 60's and I have purchased all my Ford Trucks from them. Last year I purchased the top of the line Platinum F350 for over $72,000. With full warranty and service package. Now my beef is not with the sales guys, they are great. It's with the new service dept people that now work for the mainland company that purchased Mckenna Ford. A Los Angeles rip-off outfit that doesn't care. I took my 2010 F250 work truck in for an simple oil change and they called me back and said your truck is ready for pick-up but the bill is $2300.00 and change. WOW! I asked why so high and they said because I needed a full brake job, transmission flush, radiator flush, and power steering flush on a truck that I bought from them two years earlier and it had only 54,000 miles. I told them that I did not authorize the work, they offered to work with on the price? Total BS. I paid for only the oil change in the end at $230. Still too much. Recently, I took my full maintenance covered F350 in for a oil change. About two hours later they called and asked me how I would like to pay for a new steel oil pan bolt that is stripped of threads??? 1st of all, I have a full warranty, and I have a full maintenance plan with Ford. Windward Ford is the ONLY shop that ever touched this new truck for the previous 5 oil changes...! Now, since my family raced cars my whole life I know a bit about oil pans and bolts. My oil pan is aluminum, my bolt is steel, which one do you think stripped out? Right, the oil pan. They said just a minute while we talk to the manager! The answer is we will have to order a new oil pan from the mainland, but we'll be happy to loan you a truck? Hell. A few days later on Friday afternoon they called again and said your truck is ready. I went back and we fought over the fluid levels that weren't topped off during the week they had my truck. Finally, they realized they were wrong and I left. I got home and noticed black oil leaking from all around my new oil filter? WTH? So, I drove back and they checked the filter which was screwed on crooked by their mechanic's. Also, I asked "WHY IS THE OIL BLACK IF IT'S NEW OIL?" There answer was "it's from carbon build-up in diesel trucks. Total BS again. They didn't even change the oil. They put the original oil back into the truck. Who does this? Fraudelant shops do I found out and then they just top off the oil. My dipstick was black oil too. If the oil was completely new, and I only drove a half mile home, the oil wouldn't be black. NEVER TAKE YOUR FORD VEHICLE TO WINDWARD FORD UNLESS YOUR LOOKING TO GET RIPPED OFF. I have since dumped the Platinum F350 truck as I cannot trust what was done to my beautiful truck. I apologize to Ford because I really like your trucks, but the dealers SUCK. read more

I can't give 0 stars otherwise I would. Our vehicle requires recall work to be accomplished. The first attempt at getting this work done we scheduled the appointment, dropped the vehicle off and took their shuttle home. Later that morning we received a call informing us that they didn't have the part and that they would not be able to complete the job. I don't understand how this is possible with modern technology in parts tracking. We had coordinated to miss part of a work day and to have a babysitter just to deliver the vehicle and the services department wasted our time. The second attempt we made to get our recall work accomplished was worse. We dropped our vehicle off at 8AM and were told to expect a late afternoon phone call when it was done. At 5PM I called and no one answered. It took about 3 attempts and someone in sales finally answered. I finally got a hold of services and they informed me that the "didn't have time" to get to my vehicle so I would need to reschedule. They didn't even have the guts to call me and tell me. They were about to close, which would have crippled our plans for the next day since they would have in essence taken our vehicle hostage with not even as much as a phone call. Lastly, when I got home, I noticed their parting shot was the gift of a door ding on the driver side door. When you have no way to prove it and no customer service on the other end you're simply left paying the bill. We have bounced around car brands over the years and we really wanted to support Ford out of principle. Windward Ford is a complete and utter disaster. We won't even consider Ford in the future based on how bad their service is. Corporate Ford allowing Windward Ford to operate is proof enough the Ford does not value customers. Nope! Don't do it and you if still want to just go elsewhere. I traded my Rav in for a new 2022 Bronco and although I love the Bronco, it was the worst car buying experience we've ever had and I'll tell you why. I should've noticed the first red flag from the salesman not knowing much about the vehicles in general, when we were asking questions he couldn't answer or he'd attention to the vehicle sticker. Overall he was super nice and easy to work with. We spent over 4 hours there most of the time waiting for the business manger Don to get us in for paperwork. We waited longer because we were told he messed up on our paperwork but corrected it. WELL not after a full week of having the car Don was hounding us every other week because the vin # on my car didn't match ALL of the paperwork we signed. Each time he called or emailed asking for us to sign and return a new doc, he said it was the last. I have so many texts and emails. I've had the Bronco since the beginning of April and the most recent time Don text me was 2 weeks ago on a random Saturday night saying I needed to do this and call that number bc my Rav still wasn't completely paid off yet and it will hurt my credit. EXCUSE ME WHAT? When I finally let him know this entire situation since leaving the lot hindered my joy and just ruined the excitement of buying a new Bronco he wasn't sorry and when my husband called him the next day he said there was nothing he could do "his hands were were tied" and gave him the number to the GM who to no surprise has not returned our call. Very unprofessional all around, if i could go back and keep the Rav I would bc I rather spend my money elsewhere. read more

I don't have the greatest knowledge about cars, but at least I can treat someone with better human curiosity. The lady who works in the parts department is rude and has one of the worst customer service I've experienced. If you can't handle a customer asking multiple questions and want to throw attitude and treat me like I'm stupid, maybe you shouldn't be answering phones. read more

EXTREMELY MISLEADING!!! STAY AWAY!! I brought my car in to Windward Ford to get a simple oil change and to figure out why my car door lock was broken. I ALREADY KNEW my door lock was broken, I just wanted to know what the problem would cost to fix. So, Windward Ford decides to charge me a diagnostic fee of $174 to tell me my door lock was broken. I just needed to know what the cost of fixing would be. Had I wanted to know WHY the door lock wasn't working I'd have taken the thing apart myself to fix. I simply wanted to know what the problem would cost to fix. I feel like I was ripped off and taken extreme advantage of by Windward Ford charging me $174 to simply tell me my door lock was broken. Secondly, I was told that the problem with my door lock would cost nearly $600 to fix. It seemed and I was under the impression the $174 was labor had I decided to have Ford fix my car. Not so it felt like a trap which I did not expect to fall into! Very confusing misleading and wrong! It's safe to say I will NEVER return to Windward Ford. So sad because I am a long time customer and I have never had to pay a diagnostic fee and have never dealt with such service. Stay away unless you want to be overcharged and taken advantage of!! ALSO! When I drove off the lot my driver side mirror fell off my car! Shotty service and I have my car falling apart?! Thanks to the bradda with the Toyota truck behind me who loaned me some DUCT TAPE! (Not even joking) RIDICULOUS. Too hot and upset I didn't go back and won't ever go back! read more

We just moved to Italy (US Military civilian). We had our Ford C-max (we bought it there) inspected by Windward Ford to ensure no problems when we arrived. First, they found "leaking oil" (but there was no oil in our driveway) but we had them fix it (new cover for timing chain), a big cost. AFTERWARDs, we REALLY had a leak all over our driveway, and had to have them do the job again! Big PIA. Missed our first shipping date to Italy. Then we had to take the car back again because there was black sealant all over hood, grill, and fender. POOR maintenance performance. More delays. Then we ship the car. It arrives in Italy and we take it to base for inspection, and it fails inspection because front brake pads are shot and damaged rotors. Another big PIA to get parts and repair. Just what we tried to PREVENT. We contact Ford GM, and he simply blows us off saying many poor excuses. The vehicle report card has no data on it (date, etc) but shows them in green. We go back and forth, having had to spend over $300 dollars and no use of car when we needed it most. We asked for a refund of the $295 inspection cost, but he refuses with more poor excuses that make no sense (Tough luck etc.). Accuses me of raising my voice: which was due to his lies and uncaring attitude, the nerve! What a terrible experience all together. We lived close to Ford, we are Kailua local, we trusted them, they more than failed they ripped us off, I pleaded with him to understand how unfair he was being, and we will NEVER ever do business there again when we return from our PCS move! Trust me, all they are doing is taking money from folks pretending to do work. Atrocious service, unfair management, and personally despicable management. STAY AWAY if you are wise. read more

Service center was unprofessional and slow. Worst of all, I went in with low washer fluid indicator light on. All fluids were supposed to be topped off per service agreement. When leaving, my indicator light was off. About a month later, we are driving through the Colorado mountains (car was shipped, military) and it's snowing and sleeting and we are totally out of washer fluid. Not cool.. read more

I purchased my car over a year ago. I wanted to check out their service department. My first visit was just an oil change, it went fine. I brought it back in for a 60,000 sevice including brake service. I thought a brake inspection, which was included, would be just that, an inspection of the brakes. I picked up my car and noticed something going with them. I had to push hard on the pedal to stop the car. I thought that with a brake inspection this would be very noticable. I then learned that their brake inspection was just a visual inspection. After spending a few hundred dollars on the service I was expecting my car to be washed. All the places I ever had service done over a simple oil change, my cars were returned washed and clean, not here. So I mentioned this in my review. I recently had my brakes fixed and they said they washed my car. They did, but then dried it with a dirty greasy towel, windows and all. Washing a car is simple, we all know this. This just makes me wonder about all the other work they do???? I won't be returning to Windward Ford service in the future, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more
