Our Ford Ranger ran out of coolant, and someone walking by recommended walking over to Corey to ask for help. He was able to get us fixed up quick after looking over the engine and making sure there weren't any leaks. He took us inside and showed us his fishing lure business. Great service and helped us out quick! Highly recommend. read more

High way Robbery! I called in asking about a safety i needed done for a car i just bought. The registration is old so i know hawaii's stupid system of needing a safety to get a registration and needing the registration for the safety. Thats not the problem. He says he only takes cash and the safety will be $26 so i went to the ATM about a block away and pulled out $40 being my only option. It charges like a $5 fee for the ATM as most charge an extra fee if its not your bank. Then upon return, he points out my license plate light not working and i could use new windshield wipers. I had planned on getting the wipers anyway and he gave me an estimate on how much and said it would be a 30 minute wait. I went, got food and then walked around. AN HOUR later he called and i had went and got extra money totally $100. I get there and he says its $120.49 i asked if i could just get $20 more since i would have to draw another $20 out if he wanted the 49c. I come back from my 3rd time at the ATM and give him the next $20. He says I'm good to go. I asked if i could get a receipt please and he seemed annoyed and said he'd have to fill out the paperwork. I answered his questions and he filled it all out, then said it was going to cost extra! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? So i had to go to the ATM AGAIN. Thats $20 the ATM has taken at this point and he's really charging me almost $7 for just the receipt! I'll be going somewhere else for sure. I asked why i have to pay for the receipt and he said,"well at first you were paying cash so you didn't need the receipt but now that you want one i have to add the taxes" but I'M STILL PAYING IN CASH! PLUS HE SAID HE ONLY TAKES CASH. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE The receipt He gave me is below with my personal info marked out ofc read more

Corey's Auto Care - $7 Receipt i had to buy - Auto Repair Near Me - Kailua, Hawaii

DO NOT get anything done here, safety checks or mechanical wise. Corey is rude. He also told my husband it was cash only for the safety check and the additional add-ons that he said he could take care of on our car, when braddah had a working card reader. Here's the real kicker folks, COREY CHARGED MY HUSBAND AN ADDITIONAL $7 FEE FOR A RECEIPT!!! A receipt!! This guy is a crook. Stay far away. read more

Corey is pretty much a straightforward guy. He's not gonna sugar coat anything and pretty much tell you exactly what is on his mind. So if many people think he's rude - I can see why. Look beyond that and he's a pretty cool guy to get to know. He's got a heart of gold, and does take the time to help people out in their last minute inspection needs or other car malfunctions. He'll be honest about his time, again he's not gonna hide it. We use him for our car inspections, and he is very thorough and gives great attention to detail. (He almost failed my car once due to the rear wiper being bad, but he cut my hubs some slack after hubs said he did have it in the car to put on). Oh and forget it if your tags are not on the car even if you just got them; he won't do the job til they are on! So yeah frustrating for you, but also it's his job on the line as well. So I am appreciative of the efforts he does. Reasonable rates, and when he says he'll be done by a certain time - he honors that! read more

Untrustworthy! I went in for a simple oil change, they changed my cabin air filter without permission. I guess this is what happens when you try to trust the local car shop. I wonder how many other customers they took advantage of. I will not be coming back. I highly recommend others to look elsewhere than this predatory shop. read more

Corey always fits me in when I'm in a pinch. He's great very personable and always gives me a fair price. His location has also changed. He's now located next to Kailua water sports. read more

Corey Wong is a great mechanic and his service is so perfect...he doesn't fool around when you need it he will give it to you straight forward....prices are better than some other places....good times and always carries a smile and professionalism!! read more

Took my car in for idling issues, Corey says leave it I'll check it. Not only wasn't he able to figure what my issue is, he charged me $136 for just he's best guess of what May be causing the issue. No work was actually done to my car. I could understand a small fee for attempting to fix my car but I think $136 is way to much for the little effort that was put into it. read more

Was able to get the safety inspection done for my vehicle quickly and easily. I called prior to arriving and Corey was very nice and straightforward with me over the phone. He gave me all the information so I was prepared when I walked in the following day. (Advised I needed ORIGINALS of insurance & registration). I dropped off my car and he gave me: an ETA for when the inspection would be completed, advised me of the amount that would be owed, and that payment had to be cash. He finished sooner than what he told me which is always great! Did not even know this spot existed and would bring my car by for anything needed in the future. Corey was great! read more

Based on the other reviews it seems like you either love Corey or you hate him. Well... I definitely don't hate him. He worked on my van a few times. Took care of the brakes, battery, engine mount and other small jobs. When i needed a rebuilt transmission he even helped me get in touch with a guy that could do it for a very reasonable price. A dealer would have charged me a lot more for the rebuild. In my experience he is honest in saying wether it is worth getting the work done by him or not or if you should wait or go somewhere else. Some people may take that as poor customer service. I take it as being straight forward in honest. I didn't have any issues with my safety inspection by Corey. He's done a few small jobs on my gf's Kia too. Fixed the AC today. Very reasonable prices every time. Honest work. read more

Can I give zero stars? Worst customer service ever. And I never complain and rarely write negative reviews. I had to get my safety inspection done first, then get my registration, then back to safety to show proof of registration. I did all this and he told me to come back after the weekend at the end of the day to finish it off. I do that and he says sorry he is busy, I ask can i make an appoint and he says "no I don't do that." I'm like ok, when do I come? He said he doesn't know and is busy. I go again two days later and he again says he's busy, i then said can i get an appointment or if not give me back my money. He says no. Sooooo he's rude and hustles people. I love supporting small businesses, but be gives it a bad name. With his personality I actually feel sorry for him cause you know he isn't a happy person. Bad and shady people rarely are. read more

Expensive, and Corey is rude. I needed the starter in my car changed, he wanted almost $500 for the job. The dealer was charging $200 less! The dealer is never supposed to be the cheaper option. He's done my safety a couple times, and has failed me for the smallest things like a mildly dirty headlight. His customer service skills also suck. I always get an attitude from him, like I'm a big inconvenience to his day. I've tried to make small talk and he shrugs me off. He doesn't even try to be friendly. Go elsewhere for you car needs. read more

This guy is extremely overpriced and rude. Charged me over $1000 for simple repairs and when the problem persisted he refused to take a look at it again. read more

So guys... This might sound like more of a rant than a review, but please hear me out. My car has been making this god awful noise for about a week and a half so I decided to take it into Corey's for an oil change and to figure out the problem. 3 hours and $70 later he tells me it's the alternator. K, I go out and buy a $250 alternator and get it installed the next day.. Turn the car on and what do I hear.. the same god awful noise. So I take it elsewhere to get it checked and they told me it's actually something completely different that's going to cost me $300. Needless to say I made the mistake so you don't have to. Don't go here. I'm now out of alot of money and Christmas is going to stressful Have a great day read more

Arnel R. To all of you bad critics about Corey . I've known him for over 30 yrs. as my mechanic.I have followed him from three different shops because I know that he is a very good mechanic and dependable and straight forward not like others where they'll over charge you. There were times that I didn't have the money and he was kind enough to tell me to pay him later. He actually sold me a car that he fixed for a reasonable price for my daughters first car.I admit that he can be grouchy at times but I tell what he's a down to earth person. I consider him as friend and trustworthy mechanic.HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! The old Man is incredibly rude and acts like it's an inconvenience for him to provide a service. Normally local small shops operate with Aloha, but he was only interested in taking my money. You get better service at jiffy lube or Firestone read more

My daughter's car died. Corey contacted a towing service for us. He got a battery for the car and had it replaced within an hour and a half after it arrived at his shop. It was terrific service! read more

Corey's Auto Care has always given me excellent customer service and fair pricing for vehicle maintenance, safety checks, and other services that required a mechanic. I have been taking my cars to him since 1996 when his shop was where Longs in Kailua is now, I finally found a mechanic I could TRUST! His newer location at Aikahi Shopping Center has been super convenient since I live a couple blocks away. I will always use Corey's Auto Care even if he has to relocate from the Aikahi location because he is the very best mechanic on Oahu in my opinion. Some people simply don't realize the amount of time involved in taking care of what "they think" is a simple fix. The way some cars are manufactured now days take more time to replace a part or to fix it so that will obviously cost more i.e., my battery needed replacing which I thought was simple and I tried to do it myself. It was crazy the parts that needed to be removed just to replace the battery. I decided to call Corey and let him deal with it because it was just too much trouble for me. Corey had my new battery in same day I took it in. I will Always be Faithful to Local Businesses, especially ones like Corey's Auto Care. read more

I am unsure why there are many negative reviews for Corey's Auto Care. For years, I have been taking my vehicles to his shop for services and safety inspections and I'm always met with a smile and friendly service. What many fail to realize is that he is normally working by himself and always has a full workload. He is thorough in his inspections and as long as you bring the proper documentation/information, service goes smooth. If he does not have a particular part, he will go out and get it (or order it, depending on the vehicle). His knowledge and expertise in various vehicles always makes me recommend him to anyone in need of vehicle maintenance and services. read more

I found a gem in Kailua. Corey Wong the owner was so fast and efficient. I shared with him that I was a little late because I needed to put gas as my gas light was on. He explained why I shouldn't wait for my gas light to go on and potential damage to my fuel pump. No one has ever told me about that! Yikes! He cares enough to teach. As a business owner I know that he gets more business from people with car issues. Needless to say - I am impressed. read more

My family and I have been Cory's customers, and now friends, since 2005. Cory is a straight shooter who loves fixing cars with passion. Because of our trust in Cory, we have managed to keep and maintain our Honda CRV for 17 years. Other than the usual old car's wear and tear, the CRV runs great. Cory once saved us a new windshield that could have cost us $700 to replace, by recommending a low cost plumbing solution that we used to clean up the stubborn dark film on our windshield. Honda dealer in Kaneohe and two other mechanics told us there is nothing we could do but to change the windshield. More recently, he changed my Mazda's breaks, but the new part was defected and made noise. He changed the part very quickly with no charge. It turned out the new part was also defective and very quickly caused problems. As soon as, I mentioned it to Cory, he once again changed the break with no charge. This time however, he used a different brand that has been working very well so far. All and all, I give Cory's a very satisfactory review. Thank you Cory. read more

The owner was extremely rude and quoted me a price of $700 for a new radiator. Had the work done elsewhere for literally half the cost! Shop around because this place is pretty shady... read more

Horrible attitude was talking on the phone with a friend when I was in there for 10 minutes. He was literally talking to him about random stuff and joking around. Don't come here. Wanted to support a local business and then it bites me in the @$$...The owner (I think) isn't friendly, which you would think he would be since that's how you gain loyal customers with small businesses. Anyways, went in for a safety inspection. He didn't tell me until I handed him my papers and keys that it's a flat rate wether or not you pass or fail?!?! That should have been a warning sign for me, but I was desperate and figured I'd pass. Then he said it'll be an hour or so. Flag number two for me but then I'm an idiot I guess you could say. Who really takes an hour?! McKinley Car Wash takes 15 mins. max. Anyways, I get a call telling me that I didn't pass. WTF! He didn't pass me because of rinky dink cosmetic things...which was super ridiculous. He said my head lamps were blurry. Ahhh...yeah something simple to fix. If I didn't pass then 90% of Hawaii's cars should not pass either. He just wanted money and didn't want to do paper work if u ask me. read more

Corey's Auto Care has been an good care automobile provider in Kailua for many years. Services provided to my automobiles by Corey Auto care over the years have been agreed upon with my COMPLETE UNDERSTANDING of what was to take place and the cost (by getting different estimates and the contemplation of doing it myself). Complaints about his proposed services (on this web site) are based on emotions because some customers are not ready for the reality of the condition of their vehicles (I have been there many times ... and specially with tires). It is simple enough to go and get a second opinion before venting out. Then make a POSITIVE statement of what transpired to both -- the would we provider of services -- along with the new found choice. SUCH AS ... COREY'S Auto Care is convenient but in Honolulu I found a better deal. Instead of making ... statements based on emotion CRUZ Wetback read more

Disappointed at best! I am a big fan of local business so I came here first. I am new to the island (2-weeks at the time) Talking to corey I found him to be a great guy, so I set up a time for an estimate for a repair. I left the car with him for 4 hours. When I returned he said everything had to be replaced and quoted a $350 price. When I got into my car, I noted that he never even looked at the problem. When looking at the part to be replaced it is $15-$50 on line and local auto stores. End result? I did not have the work done, but he charged me $63 for doing nothing. Very dishonest!!! Will never give him my business read more

People always talk about trying to find someone HONEST and skilled to work on their vehicles, that's Corey. Good or bad he'll tell you how it is and let you know what he can or can't do. It seems that everyone that has been upset with Corey are in regards to safety checks (sorry if the law states you can't bring in a copy of an insurance card). Corey is completely by the book, in every way and I'd recommend him to every single one of my friends and family. read more

What do you get when you combine a hoarder, hopelessness, and an early 1990s strip mall car repair shop?...Corey's Auto Care. I made the mistake of going to Corey's for a safety check and have never met a small business owner who cares so little about customer service. The place has three auto bays but only one had enough room for a car to pull inside as the other two were blocked by piles of junk. He told me that he takes card payments for everything except safety inspections after I got there and needed cash. I told him I had to run over to Safeway next door for cash and he huffed and asked if he "really had to stand here and wait for me to get cash". He then told me that if I wasn't waiting outside his shop when he was finished, I would have to wait until morning to to get my car and it was 3:30pm. My safety check failed due to my car having some mysterious suspension problem. After asking what that issue was, he told me he didn't know until I paid to have it put up on the rack. I took it to my dealer and they said absolutely nothing was wrong with it. Very, very disappointed with my wasted time, money, and energy spent going to this place. I hope he takes all of these negative reviews to heart and turns things around. read more

My Honda would not start shortly after I had a new key made by the dealer. I got the car to Corey's, and after he did a full workup he discovered the problem was the key. The dealer had reprogrammed the 2 keys I gave them, but not the one I did not. Not knowing this, I tried it to start the car with the 3rd key and it failed. It made "starting" noises, but wouldn't turn over. I'm so thankful Corey diagnosed the problem, called me to bring another key, and the car was fine. Thanks, Corey for some excellent detective work! read more

Me and my family have been taking our vehicles to Corey's for years. Great customer service, friendly, and he knows his craft. As long as I am living in Hawaii, I will continue to take my vehicle(s) to his shop. Reasonable and fair prices. At times he does get bogged down with other customers, but communication is key and have always informed me on approximate times on services. If you have the time, stay and talk story with him. read more

The rudest car shop I have ever been to in my life. I went to Corey's shop to get a safety inspection one day and he mentioned to me over the phone to bring registration and insurance card. I get to his shop and hand him all of my vehicles paper work, and he slaps it on a table and rudely walks away saying he can't do my inspection because my insurance card isn't the original. I told him that I knew nothing about the law, because my last inspection was done by simply showing the inspection station my insurance on my Geico app. He then proceeds to call me a liar and said that no shop would accept that. Hands down the most unprofessional place I have ever done business with. If there was a no star option I would give it to Corey's. read more

Have gone to Corey for years. Had a good working knowledge of every car I've owned and has been more than fair with me.

Corey did a great job! Fixed my car quickly and efficiently. Highly recommend to all my friends and family.

If you are haole STAY AWAY! Had a vehicle shipped over from CT to hawaii and it needed a recon permit, got the recon permit in the morning and Corey's was the only place that could do a safety that day, that should have been a red flag! He accused my husband of bringing a copy of the reg- it's not! Its also very unlikely that he is an expert in CT vehicle registrations anyway. Then he failed the safety because of a rusty bumper and SAID that any other place would pass it but he wouldnt. WHAT!? Come on. I would NOT recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

I called at 3:30 pm and asked if they could squeeze me in for a vehicle inspection. He said if I needed it today he could do it today. I got there at 4:30pm. I had to wait for him to finish other cars for ab an hour but he stayed late and got it done for me. Really saved me on this one. He played the inspection by the book, bc I had some things he could have exploited to his benefit and he didn't.
