After the alterations were completed, the dress appeared materially different from its original state. The skirt had noticeably less volume and flow, the proportions at the waist were altered, and the overall silhouette no longer resembled how the dress appeared prior to alterations. I raised these concerns immediately and asked for an explanation and to pause further work. However, my concerns about the alteration outcome were not meaningfully addressed, and no clear corrective solution was offered. Given the significance of a wedding gown and the cost of the service, I was disappointed by both the outcome of the alterations and the lack of resolution offered. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this service to other brides.

Original Hems Studio is located in Laguna Hills, off of Lake Forest Drive, corner facing the Shell gas station. Their services include hemming, tailoring/alterations & dry cleaning. The inside of the store is modern & clean with a black, red, silver color palette. Way nicer than most tailoring places. The wait for service can be a minute (so be patient), since they seem short-staffed the drop-off & pick-up times I've gone. When my daughter needed a dress tailored (made tighter at the chest area, since she's quite petite) for her friend's upcoming quinceañera, I immediately thought of Original Hem. Based on my prior good experiences with them ~ with my jeans & dresses, I thought they would be a perfect option for the job. To say I was SHOCKED at how much they quoted me for the alteration, was an understatement. Mind you..the dress cost about $30 and the alteration to just bring in the sides a tad at the chest area cost $45..LIKE HOW DOES IT COST MORE THAN THE DRESS?!?! I get the dress had some ruching and lace..but does it justify costing THAT much? Sigh..in the end, I just gave in and agreed to pay the charge because we were already pot committed (sized and everything) and the birthday party is weeks away. I really don't have time to find another alteration place. When we picked up the dress 3 days later, the workmanship was ok, not wow for what I paid. The measurements the girl did was correct & perfectly fit my daughter, so I guess if she's happy then I'm happy. BUT, I likely won't be back since prices have gone up significantly! When I asked (out of curiosity) for a quote for original hemmed jeans now-a-days, they charge $16!!! A huge contrast to my $5 days. ASK FOR PRICES, before you decide to do any services, as they conveniently don't have them posted anywhere ~ in-store or online..since the sales gal says it varies per item (based on material & level of difficulty of the alteration). I read through all of her reviews and they were all great, so I reached out to her and was able to schedule an appointment with her right away. She was able to measure what needed to be altered and also made helpful suggestions regarding what alterations she could do to make the dress fit better. The two dresses I ordered were made of specialty fabric but she was able to work her magic and the dresses fit like a glove! Her work is truly seamless and the dresses looked brand new and perfectly made for me, as if no alterations had been made. Before, when I tried on the dresses in the larger size, it felt like a lost cause. Taty is so warm and welcoming when you meet with her and her communication is great!
