Outside wall and siding repair, all inside damaged interior from accident. The damage from truck took out all bathroom plumbing from all floors which was repaired by a different company. Tom subcontracted a painting company that was absolutely horrific. The worst paint job ever. Tom apologized over and over again and said if they only took time to prep... He insured me that he would fix the painting and caulking. Tom was also informed and sent a photo of a part of the siding that was not repaired around window frame. Tom came out and looked and stated he would send the siding guys out to fix what they Missed. Well, Covid Hit and of course I now had to wait for Tom to repair what need to be repaired and fix and the cracked tile in one of the bathrooms. He had now already been paid by insurance company before repairing what need to be repaired by the painters and siding guys. I did not worry as I had no doubt he would complete the job. I would send Tom Text Messages to schedule the completion of the job. He would come out look what needed to be fixed and completed. Tom would then say he would be back out in a few days to fix and complete job. Never happened!There was always a reason he couldn't come out. A death, a wedding etc. I still did not worry as I always trusted he would get the job done. Now it's May 2021. I sent Tom a text again as I had not heard from him in a while. Tom responded in a text message with a photo of himself with a mask on his face stating he was in the hospital sick. I told him no worries. After a couple months I text Tom again Aug 2021. Tom responded he was not back to work, but would be back next month. Text Tom September 2021 and related he would be out to my house. Tom finally came out. Looked over painting snd now said he was not going to repair the paint job. I was beside myself! He was not the same person I had been dealing with. He no longer could look at me and was looking at the ground as he spoke to me. He said to me, "Do you remember I gave you a $1000.00 back for the bad paint job!" I said, You did not! Why are you saying that! He then measured the tile in bathroom and said he would be out in a couple days. Tom further related he was not going to repair the siding that was missed. I was so shocked and almost in tears as this was not the person I had originally been dealing with. Couple weeks go by and Tom has yet to repair anything. Tom returns after multiple text messages to him. Measures the tile again and said he would be in contact with me. Guess what it's Nov 06 2021 and nothing has been completed. He has now blocked my phone number and is not answering text messages or email! This guy who I thought was and upstanding person turned out to be a scammer and a liar!!! I'm sure I'm not the only person he has done this to. For someone to intentionally do something like this is EVIL!! KARMA WILL FIND HIM!!!! Here is a few text from this year. I like this place in that it's a neighborhood business and I love to support the local guys. Prices seem decent when compared to the other furniture stores in the area. It's a small place, though, so while you can get lost for hours in the Darvin superstore in OP, you really won't wander for more than 20 minutes or so in here. Because the store is small, their selection is pretty limited. However, they can order almost anything for you from their catalogs. If you're like me, that's only a slight PITA because I prefer to see and touch potential purchases before buying them. We ordered some chairs for our kitchen table through their catalogs and they arrived in about a week and were excellent quality. I do prefer to see and touch things, but in that instance it worked out for us. We also ordered a new mattress from this store and it was a lot cheaper than going to the mattress store further down Archer. They chopped off the price because we were "repeat customers", so they got it as low as they could for us. The store's interior is a little...dated. Some of the furniture that's on display screams late 1980s. Definitely reminds me of Clark Griswold's neighbors Todd & Margo, if you catch my drift. My husband and I couldn't stop laughing at the lamps on display, especially. Some of them were just plain weird looking. It seems counterproductive. For a furniture store that's been in business for 30+ years in the same location, they've clearly built up a decent neighborhood reputation. It's a little weird to walk in and see couches on display that are 20 years old (or at least look like it). Why don't they rotate their display to keep things fresh and keep new customers coming in? I have a feeling they rely quite a bit on repeat business. The exterior of the store looks a little industrial, but the window displays kill me. Plastic Betty Boops and Tweety Birds stand at attention, asking you to come in and drop good money on their merchandise. The first time I walked in I almost turned around and walked back out. Tweety was an effective spokesperson in 1994, notsomuch these days. Plus they're faded and they look a little dusty and beat up. Retire the darn things already! Pretty much everything you order here needs about a week to be delivered, so if you're ordering a new couch before your family Christmas party get in there and do it early. Delivery is free for every item--major bonus if you ask me. They won't haul away your old items, but they'll take them out to the trash for you. Decent service, decent prices. Good quality stuff, so they're not lying! For better selection hit up a larger showroom, but if you're not too picky and want to support the local guys, this is the place.
