Mesa Store 110 I would like to take a moment to recognize Stephanie, the cashier, for the way she handled a very difficult situation during my recent visit. The weight machine at her register was not working, and Stephanie was trying to figure out what was causing the problem. Despite the situation and the growing line of customers, she remained calm and professional. She did not allow her frustration to show or create any negative atmosphere for the customers. I want you to know that Stephanie's calm and positive demeanor made a real difference to me. Honestly, because of the way she handled the situation, I decided not to leave my shopping cart and take my business to another store. I also want to recognize Kyle who provided me with excellent help in the bulk section. I was looking for oat bran and some other ingredients, and this gentleman took the time to help me understand the labels on the bulk items. He also explained that I could have an item ordered by the case if I needed that quantity. He didn't have to go out of his way to help me, but because he was observant and attentive, he noticed that I needed assistance and helped me find what I was looking for--and even gave me additional information that was very helpful. Great fast lines during the day I always have the wonderful ladies help. I get Similac they are locked so I usually go to costumer service to ask for them. At night they don't have it past 7pm. I go towards the baby isle it's locked and of course most of the employees are in the middle stocking or doing their job. No button system to ask for help. So I get whatever else I need and head to the line. I usually don't feel a certain way but I'm pregnant and I simply asked my cashier Lance to get them since they are locked. He comes back makes a comment about "you do know you can get these before hand?" when he seen me go to the costumer service section first. If someone was around I would have asked I'm not wandering the whole store to find someone if I can just ask my cashier for a simple request. Service 5/5 The employees are always helpful and can point you in the right direction to find what you are looking for which is great with a huge store like this. Checkout cashiers are pleasant and happy you are bagging which helps them keep pricing below all their competitors! This is an employee owned company and by all measures run effectively! Atmosphere 5/5 Large warehouse grocery store with large selection and variety of food choices. It's doesn't follow the Costco/Sams Club warehouse bulk packaging model. DON'T PURCHASE MEAT HERE OR PRODUCE!!! I purchased ground beef and boneless skinless chicken breast. The ground beef has bone chunk in it and the chicken tasted like rubber. When I was searching for onion, the end cap with onion had rotten produce... I now have a new smell to remember when I watch hoarders tv show. The store was unsafe with boxes everywhere. I get the shelves have to be stocked, but the current operation is unsafe. I reached out to Winco and was given a cold shoulder. They demanded I bring all of the food back for a credit at the manager's discretion... WTF. Nah, I'm done. The prices aren't bargains anymore. Quality is down... go somewhere else. read more

I ordered a cake from their bakery a week ago. I picked it up today and was extremely disappointed. I requested red trim, red roses, and red writing. The color was a muddy pink and the cake work was shoddy. There are many unjoined seams in the border trim, the roses look terrible and the writing is uneven and unattractive. I complained to the bakery staff and was given a $5 discount. I am embarrassed to present this cake at my friend's surprise birthday party tomorrow. I do not recommend the Winco bakery for cake orders and will never order a cake from them again. read more

I've been searching for blue cheese for a recipe that takes 32 ounces. Walmart had the least expensive price, but it would've cost me $42 to buy it there. Winco sells it 16 ounces for $3.50 on average because the weight differs. Everything I purchased like a mayonnaise that's actually made with eggs and has no natural flavors no chemicals and no palm oil. At Walmart, you cannot find a healthy product. Everything I purchased was a dollar or more or less than Walmart in this case Walmart's blue cheese was four times higher for a measly 4 ounces . I will be shopping at Winco from now on. read more

I find the people that are at WinCo very helpful! They're there to serve you doesn't matter day or night. Parker has a knowledge of the store Beyond Compare and so does Megan. They know exactly where the item is and exactly how much it is. They can't find it they'll go find it for you. Their prices are so much cheaper than other places I don't know how other people can shop at the grocery stores around them. I definitely get my bang for my buck. And I love their Whole Foods section along with the Asian food. They have a wide diversity of different kinds of foods from all over the world some you can't even find in other grocery stores. I love these guys and I will always be shopping here. They got a great manager and they're willing to help. read more

I didn't know that they took debit. I thought they only took cash. This was a surprise to me. Hope someone else finds this to be useful information as well. The store was crowded as usual with customers needing to get by each other and all looking at the goods for sale. The parking lot was also a bit crowded but it didn't take long to find a spot. There is one tree that doesn't provide much shade. They sell Talenti ice cream there. I love that stuff! Too bad that the prices are a bit high for it. About $5 for a little container. They also sell bread that looks fresh baked. There are lots of unique snacks in the snack aisles. I think it is pretty similar to the other Wincos in the area. They also have self check out which is great. One of the employees had to help me after someone else when there was an error on the check out screen during the check out process. The Winco store is usually clean and organized inside when I have went. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary. It doesn't have any odors or smells. Some stores that sell groceries have a smell. I think that is when they sell more fish or other products like spices. Winco has great prices but they only take cash or debit so I have to make sure I bring it with me. Making sure to bring cash is harder since you have to make sure you have enough to cover the cost. The store aisles seem wide and there is usually space to get by other shoppers. I found it crowded the last couple of times I went and had to get by others who were looking at the products on the store shelves. They have organic foods like blanched almond flour. They have cake flour for about three dollars before tax. They also have buttermilk pancake mix for about three dollars as well. Krusteaz versus pearl milling company have different prices and one is less than the other. read more

The customer service in this store is atrocious. I was forced to move my cart past this poor old lady trying to pay and apparently the card she used didn't have the right amount on it for her purchase and instead of moving all the other customers in line to another register while she decided what she would take home and leave behind, they made all of us in line have to be in her way while we paid and moved our carts past her. That sweet old lady could barely see or put her cards back in her wallet. The chick with purple hair should get written up for that. No empathy at all whatsoever!!!!!! This store always has what I want so I'll be back, but they need to make managers more available for these situations. How many registers do they have in that building?! We, consistently find the fresh produce to be just that, fresh. The supply of products is good and the prices are usually better than in other grocery stores. The staff has always been polite and helpful. I laid my cell phone down on a shelf while putting ingredients into the cart and then could not find it. I ran down to customer service and they were waiting for the owner of the cell phone to come ID it and pick it up. That speaks of honesty. They store is not glamorous but is clean and well laid out. Offer wide variety of items to be weighed. Great selection of dried fruits, nuts, spices, flavored coffee beans or can ground there. Honey, freshly ground peanut butter. Winco is one of my favorite grocery store chains. They keep the prices low by not taking credit cards, but they do take debit, cash. It is an employee share profit company. Which means the employees actually own the company. Their performance, customer service, and personal investment into their work determine how well the company does and how much their compensation will be from the profit sharing. They have a very wide selection, everything is always fresh. The prices on their deli meats and items are some of the least expensive around. They have a decent adult beverage selection, a fresh bakery, etc. One of my favorite areas is the bulk food section. You can buy as little or as much as you need for all kinds of spices, herbs, pastas, cereals, grains, pet foods. Check it out sometime and you will fall in love with the concept and the savings it gives to you. read more

Rhonda heard us and took charge of the conversation before it became unpleasant due to the associate not being able to change gears and listen to my request. Really like this store, clean and great prices. However today I encountered a fake service dog in the store. As a service dog handler myself this is upsetting. You have a sign that says Service animals only. Please do not allow pets or ESAs in your store. Nice store, always open, always clean. Easy parking in their own lot. Prices: generally much lower prices than Fry's or Albertson's. Selection: Basic grocery store inventory with the addition of a wonderful bulk items selection. Notes to prospective customers: 1. this is not the store to look for small brand items (example: organic horseradish or custom salad dressings). 2. This is not the place to shop for organic items except a limited selection of vegetables. 3. This is not the store for you if you cannot bag your own groceries. 4. Probably not the best place to go late at night due to panhandlers living in the parking lots around the store. They stock the store at night but the doors are still open, you sometimes have to go in search of a cashier. 5. Limited bakery selection. 6. Limited selection of breads, forget gourmet breads and organic in the bakery. 7. the registers seem to be in need of repair frequently, expect to have to re-insert your debit card several times. This slows down the registers and the store seems unwilling to improve check-out speed. 8. this is a good place to shop to save money on nationally advertised brands, but if you want organic--- go elsewhere. 9. Smithfield is a brand name that seems to have an exclusive deal with Winco stores, so nearly every pork item in the store is Smithfield, which limits selection and is very anti-consumer. I never buy pork at Winco because they removed my ability to choose. 10. Shopping carts are generally beat and worn. 11. I like all the bulk selection it's nice to be able to buy things in bulk. Having lived in Europe and having to bag all my own groceries all the time, it doesn't really bother me that you have to do that there. Really like the large selection of products. Particularly enjoy all the flavors of the energy drinks and things like gatorade and vitamin waters. OMG and the chip aisle that is like the Chip Aisle from heaven, so many chips!!! Maybe other people don't notice but I was seriously impressed by the sheer amount of choices of chips. read more

We got some coupons in the mail for free soda and hotdogs so I came here for those. I never really checked this place out before so I took some time to look around and compare it with my usual grocery store. As with any other store it's a crap shoot as to who has the lowest prices on any given day. This store is unique in that they compare prices on sale items with other major stores in the area. You know what you save by purchasing that item that day. There were couple things that were not so good. My wife got a watermelon from there and it was rotten inside. Some of the other produce didn't look very fresh that day. They have bulk bins filled with things like candy, pasta, flour, nuts, cereal, and more These are big barrels filled to the top with a plastic lid and a scoop attached. I don't like the idea of everybody digging into these barrels with dirty hands. Even if I wanted to believe everyone was careful when they scooped out of the bin, I just can't believe parents will always keep an eye on their kids. This is what I saw happen. A child about 5 was reaching in to a bin and digging around with his bare hands. He was eating out of it. The parents were not paying attention, or didn't care. I never see sales flyers from this store so they have been flying under my radar for sometime. I will occasionally shop here when I get coupons or need a few items. read more

Came for the grand opening today with my mom. The prices are fantastic, and the employees were very nice and helpful. Even the Vice President was there, and we talked to him. They have a wide selection of items, and a impressive produce and meat department. Even though the line to get a buggy was almost 2 hrs and the check out lines wrapped around both sides of the inside I never once felt agitated or annoyed about it because of the employee and management presence. Not to mention every lane but two were open, that makes a big difference. I will MOST definitely be back to Winco! read more

Winco markets have been a nice convenient market that opens 24/7 rather than going to walmart. As such times now. That isnt the case. But going back yes it's nice and hopefully moving forward it be once as it was. Regarding this particular location. I found it very nice and clean. You you know. It's a supermarket. Nothing much to say. Employees are super friendly. No credit card as this establishment is owned by employees so cash and debit. Prices are fair. Sometimes better than other markets and no need for club cards. Ugh that can get annoying sometimes. Right you can punch in your number. Takes seconds. But we want convenience right. My rating is actually 3.5 So I've been here several times now since moving to AZ almost two years ago. The variety of products and the prices of the products on most of the items is amazing. The produce section is usually very well stocked and most items seem pretty fresh. The refrigerated produce items are so so. as well as the organic section. Deli, meat, and dairy selection are pretty abundant. There is a bakery as well. The inside of the store is kept clean and orderly. Overal this store has most of my needs at a price I can afford. As for all the complaints about the employees. I can see why they draw the criticism and the ratings are low in this area. While the employees are not overly friendly, they aren't blatantly rude either. To me they just seem unhappy or dislike their job, I'm not sure. I lived in Hawaii for 30 years and almost all the supermarkets represent rude and unhelpful and angry employees. The aloha is demanded in the resorts and tourist industry but outside of that the public relations skills lack in the rest of the areas. So comparing the Winco employees to the Hawaii supermarket employees Winco wins that rating for sure. The glass is half full at Winco which is better then half empty always. read more

WinCo is my very favorite store as a Winter Visitor to Mesa AZ. Although the usual term we are titled with is Snowbird. WinCo has the best 'Carrot Cake for two' and I'm lucky that my Hubby doesn't care for it & let's me enjoy it myself. I tend to savor it and slice it right away into 4 or more servings. Unfortunately the past few weeks someone changed the Rotisserie Chicken Salad recipe in the Deli. A weekly purchase after my usual approval taste sample has now changed to waiting another day in Hope's of no more mustard in my chicken salad! I mentioned to the Clerk that I detected something familiar but it was not a satisfying taste to me. As I stood there while my husband made his deli selections I recognized the dis-taste as MUSTARD. Mustard is fine in potato salad but it really doesn't belong in the chicken salad. I just may have to venture to a different WinCo location IF other locations don't add mustard. read more

Grabbed my daughter & grandsons on a Friday night and headed on out there, I had my grocery list with me but really didn't think I would be getting everything I needed there. Winco reminded me of Food 4 Less out in California with the set up, but as soon as I walked I started to see the low prices, and for me that's a win win, For a Friday night around 6ish, it wasn't too packed, we walked up and down the aisles and looked at everything there was. I did knock out my grocery list and even got some extras and it didn't put a dent in my wallet, in fact left me some money haha. I liked what I got, and liked the prices of things, and I will be back and this time price comparing things. read more

Wow, got a lot of food and snacks for half the price of Walmart, really shocked I thought it wasn't going to be a huge difference, but my wallet says different! This place is huge compared to the FoodsCo I'm used to going to in CA. It's like a cheaper costco but you don't have to buy everything in bulk! Lines aren't crazy long like at walmart and staff are a lot friendlier too! Plenty of parking, they take card and cash. And ice is 98cents for a 10lb bag! Not bad WinCo not bad... :) read more

You can get some good discounts here, and a lot of bulk items such as granola, spices, and nuts. The store is kind of like walking into a warehouse, with minimal decor and more of an industrial feel. Aisles are easy to navigate through, and there's a decent selection of foods that you would need. To keep prices low, they only accept debit if you pay by card. read more

I like Winco but it's not the store I would go to on a weekly basis for grocery shopping. WInco offers a large selection without a doubt. There best products for prices are produce, fruits, vegetables, canned goods, milk, eggs, and frozen foods. Their meats leave a lot to be desired for us since we prefer higher cuts of meats that don't have by products or additives. Their deli is minimal. I do not like the fact that they pre-slice a lot of their meat and place in front cooler for display. I prefer any deli meat to be cut to order regardless. The store is massive so expect to spend a lot of time walking the aisles. The lighting is good, but check out can be a pain. Lately I have noticed they don't have many lanes open since the northerners aren't here right now. You do have to bag your grocery items, which doesn't bother me at all. If you bring your own reusable bags I believe they give you $.10 off for each one. They take checks, cash, or debit - NO CREDIT CARDS! I think this is also a great idea - every little bit of savings can be given back to the consumer :) read more
