Absolute love this place! It's the perfect little getaway to enjoy a good meal with family or friends. We stumbled upon it one day and love to come here a few times a month for breakfast. A hidden gem of a 9 hole course in East county with a very old school feel. The hospitality is decent as they run a tight ship and aren't into BSing. The course needs a little love but the greens are immaculate, tee boxes are great, bunkers immaculate. There needs to be a little love on the fairways but, that is San Diego. The course scenery is spectacular, especially the well placed trees on the holes and the special trained turtles in the water holes,that will dive and retrieve your errant tee shot for you The Marshall Bob is a great guy,he will even get you a candy bar if you get hungry out playing the course. Very impressed with this course. The tee boxes, greens, greenside and fairways were in fantastic shape. Green #4 (i'm pretty sure) and the sand traps definitely need some work. For it being a 9 hole course I like the idea of hitting from different tee boxes to give you different looks on the back nine. Ordered an egg sandwich prior to my 8am tee time and had to throw it out. Quite disgusting unfortunately. Other than that, for $34 on the weekend to play 18, I would strongly recommend this hidden Lakeside, CA gem. read more

Went here with my family to play some golf. We called ahead and reserved two tee times. Only 5 of us were going to golf and the others we're going to hang out as a family. However this place will not let spectators on the course due to "insurance" which I've never heard of at a course and have brought plenty of people with me that weren't golfing at other courses. The man at the pro shop was extremely rude and unhelpful and unapologetic about the whole situation. It seemed like he was the gate keeper of a private course in rancho San Diego, forgetting this is just a nine hole course in lakeside... read more

10 trailer trash teens were running wild for about 4 hours on the golf course. They kept jumping the fence each time they were thrown out by the Marshall. They were carry bats and fishing poles and were going from pond to pond on the greens and fishing and using the bat to hit golf balls they found. They would stand in the way of players and were heckling them when players were trying to swing. One teen said he was hit by a player a couple days prior and bragged like it was an honor. They were throwing rocks at the ducks and trash in the pond. The Marshall just gave up because he could keep them out. They had a sand fight in Sand trap and were using it for a ramp to jump their bicycle.so much for a relaxing day read more

The people are super friendly and the food is good. I am disappointed that the fee for joining the Willowbrook Golf Club does not include GHIN. You have to pay extra to join The Men's Club in addition to Golf Club to get that. A little pricey for nonmember also, especially for a 9 hole course. I paid just a little more for an 18 with cart than I did here for 9 holes with my own pull cart. The course is maintained semi adequately and is challenging. I'm used to wearing a collared shirt when I play golf as one should, was a bit surprised to see them let someone golf in a t-shirt today. Member player in my group said that was normal for here. read more

Mid as fuck. My cornbread was burnt and the service was lackluster. Spent alot of money playing golf and they repay me with mid food and mid service ??? Definitely not taking my kids here ever again. It's hard being a single parent as it is and places like this definitely do not help. read more

I will not return to this course. I will however come try the grill though. For starters I understand the reason for collared shirts. BUT when all the staff are wearing clothes that I would wear hanging out around the house, yard work or the gym. What is the point that I have to wear a collared shirt and the staff are wearing whatever they want? I could not tell who worked there and who did not. Wait never mind the golfers were dressed up. Next the club was clean but the pro shop has chairs that are in a bad state of disrepair. The dressing room doubled as a storage room. The starter was rude and not friendly. Last the grounds. THE REASON you go to this place while it was a challenging course for a 9 hole BUT they were awful, not well maintained. The "Lakes" were stagnant. The tees were hard to find or even missing. The putting greens were dying or dead so the putts were extremely difficult. The members were not friendly to "outsiders". We were an inconvenience. There are so many rules at this place and they try to be a high end golf resort with the rules but in reality its a budget golf course that is surrounded by mobile homes(literally). Last....I paid same if not MORE to play here then I do to play at Sycuan. Even Sycuans Par 3 course is maintained better. Overall i will not return. Carlton Oak Course will be my home course. I never felt welcomed from start to finish. The only thing that didn't ruin my day was the ladies at the grill. read more

The employees at this course are a joke and the course is absolutely terrible. The greens were actually filled with sand so I did not putt and it was WAY too expensive. I went to finish the back 9 and they said I had not paid for 18! I was in shock! Gave them a piece of my mind and left. Will never return! Good spot! for twenty bucks, you can hit some challenging holes, have a few par 5s, & see some well maintained scenery, and have a 40 yr veteran in a real tee box set you on your way. It's only a nine holer, but if you get there by 4, you can definitely get in 13+ chances to find that clandestine birdie. I'm a huge fan of getting your money's worth out of things especially golf outings. A lot of people dog this course out because it is not one of the " big courses". I think that is absolutely hilarious! This course offers everything that some of the best courses in San Diego have to offer. Deep par 5's, challenging par 3 's and just an all around great course. This is a hidden gem in East County and to be quite honest, I hope it stays that way now that I think about it. It has a great staff, some awesome regulars who play there all the time and I am proud to be joining the men's Club out there! Look, I really want what's best for the course, so please come on out and play it for yourself. If you think your above a course like this, then you might be, or you think your better then you are and then you can stay shooting in the 120 's at your "big courses". Quality of greens- 8.5 out of 10 Quality of fairways- 8.5 Quality of Tee Boxes- 9 Difficulty- 6.75 Clubhouse- 10 Staff- 10 Food and Beverage- 10 (no cart girl) Overall 8.9 A lot of trees, a number of water hazards, and a few solid par 5's that you can pull out the driver on and grip n rip it out there. read more

I've been playing this course for 15+ years and it still kicks my butt. It's one of the more difficult 9-hole courses you will find out there. It's also one of the most enjoyable. All of the staff are very professional and courteous. I played there Saturday and had a great time. The food is great and the service is outstanding (thanks Hunter!). Great place to play golf! They have staff that's very friendly also... I liked this course better than the one our hotel concierge suggested! I'd suggest giving this place a try. It's not expensive, and you can use the extra saved cash to spend on their clubhouse. They also have a brand new building... pretty nifty... just don't hit the trailer park :) drive on!! read more

Love the course. I'm still learning the game and it's not too crowded most days which I like. The staff are sticklers for the rules which is fine with me. My only complaint is that there's big holes in the fence and twice now we've had people walk on the course and interrupt our game. I would definitely feel safer if that was remedied read more

East county's best kept secret, this is my favorite executive course around. Nine holes walking for around $25. Long drives on the back side, well kept water hazards, immaculate greens. Cart rentals available but easily played on foot in 3 hours. read more

We had an early dinner at the Willowbrook Grill and ordered the fish and chips (Friday night special). Very good well-prepared fish/cod in light, crisp batter. It rivals (beats?) the fish and chips at the California Fish Grill that we love. They never disappoint us there at the golf course. Great efficient and friendly service too. read more

Played last Sunday..I can't give a low rating because it wouldn't be fair. The Hot! summer days have not been kind to this course, and with water rates what they are who could blame them! The course is dry! The tee boxes on most of the holes are dirt! Just dead grass,and dirt. Some of the greens are in deplorable condition! It was sad to see such a great course in such poor conditions! You can't blame the course management. I'm sure the rates would go way up if they watered more often,and nobody wants that. This is a great local golf coarse. Great for a quick 9 holes to start the day off. Its a fun coarse and kept up very well.

Willow Brook golf course two months ago was in very bad shape due to a lack of water in the main irrigation system. I'm happy to announce as a guy who plays there all the time that the course is coming back. All the greens are coming back completely. I took a chance and went back to Willowbrook and I am happy to say that they are well on their way to having the course back in shape. The fairways looked like they had seen some attention and almost all of the greens were back in shape with a few having major dead spots still, but you could tell attention was being paid. Like I say, I love having a local golf courses like Willowbrook in the past it had been a hidden gem. I am glad to see the sparkle coming back and I hope they keep it going the right direction. read more

Review of the Grill only! Great local spot for a simple classic breakfast at a great price and awesome service! What a pleasant surprise! I've driven by this four year old facility many times and noticed that the grill was open to the public 6AM - 6PM, but never checked it out until this past week. The building is very new and well designed. I popped in on a Friday around 9AM. Upon walking into the restaurant, I got the feeling of being in a cafeteria or snack bar. I thought I might have to order at the counter, but the friendly waitress welcomed us and brought menus to the window golf course view table we picked. The menu was simple but had all the breakfast staples; bacon, sausage, eggs, baked goods, pastries, oatmeal, fruit, etc. I got a delicious omelet, toast, and hash browns for $6.99, and a good cup of coffee for $1.50. They had several flavored creamers There was only one other table is use, everyone else just grabbed something at the counter to take out onto the course, so service was really quick and the food was hot and fresh. I went to this "country club" with my family hoping to have a relaxing round of golf. But instead I found rude employees and a very unwelcome atmosphere. I will NEVER return to this golf course and I will tell all of my friends and family not to visit this place. I asked for ice and the guy looked at me like I was an idiot. After that it was all downhill. I could write 3 pages on how horrible and rude this place was, but I will not waste my time trashing this "country club" because I am never going back. read more
