Very disappointing experience with the starter and customer service…read more My friends and I came to enjoy a casual round of golf and were respectful throughout our visit. After we had already paid, the starter, Jim, stopped our group and told us that a friend who was accompanying us on foot would need to pay the full green fee as well as additional fees for a cart and clubs. This was particularly frustrating because he was recovering from a broken back and only intended to walk the course. Jim then approached other members of our group and informed them that each player needed to have a full set of clubs or they would not be allowed to play. These requirements were not communicated before payment and felt unnecessarily rigid. Overall, the experience left us with the impression that the staff was more focused on maximizing charges than providing a welcoming customer experience. We were simply looking for an enjoyable and affordable round of golf, but the way these issues were handled made the experience very disappointing.

Last weekend, while my son was driving on Jamul Drive, a golf ball struck his vehicle and shattered the windshield. He went to the pro shop and spoke with Alan, one of the managers, hoping for some guidance or assistance. Instead, Alan offered no help, showed very little concern, and made my son feel as though the incident was somehow his fault. I understand that the course may not accept direct responsibility for every stray golf ball, but basic customer service and compassion should still matter. At the very least, Steele Canyon could have offered a few rounds of golf or some other gesture to help offset the unexpected cost of replacing the windshield. After living here and supporting the course for so many years, the complete lack of concern was extremely disappointing. From now on, we will gladly drive a little farther to play at a course that values its neighbors and customers. Thank you, Alan and Steele Canyon Golf Club, for showing us exactly how little our support means.

The two group ahead of us looked like they never played golf before in their life. We waited on each hole for at least 5 to 10 mins as we watch the group ahead of us hit their balls maybe 15 yards each time. 3. Fairways. What fairways. Can we say dirt with a sprinkle of grass? Have they not heard of water? You know the H2O stuff? I hear that it really makes stuff grow! 4. The greens. Super slow. I mean how slow can you possibly make them? 5. The plaques on each tee box where worning and old. You could hardly tell how what the yardage was from black down to red. 6. The carts had no GPS and looked old and worn. Now the positive... the food at the turn. Got a 1/2 sandwich (ham, cheese, lettuce, and tomato). It was pretty good and they didnt price gouge you. Oh and the lady running the bar was fantasic. The club house empolyees could use some training on being more friendly. Needless to say that this was my first and last time playing Cottonwood. I thought Castle creek was in bad shape but this is right up there!!!! Save your 75 dollars and play somewhere else. You have been warned!

Tee boxes uneven and patchy. Fairways were rough and mostly dead. Greens were fine at best, just avoid the divots and ball marks that nobody replaces. Awful pace of play. 6 hour round on a Friday morning. Starter told us they oversold tee times... Not very a challenging course. Majority of approach shots will be in the 200 yard range. The course could have great potential (see pictures for some solid views) but needs a ton of TLC. Staff was super nice, only reason it's not getting a 1 star.

Tee boxes: Green and OK Fairways: lots of leaves and clutter making it hard to spot a ball Greens: short and quite fast but also uneven so it is difficult on a longer putt. Carts: you get an ice box but to get ice you have to buy something from the snack bar. V cheeky. Holes themselves do not have too much challenge to them but it is a decently fun course. Not much elevation. A couple holes do have some elevation and challenge though. Average course, I'd come back if in the area.

I've been to Stadium Golf a bunch of times, mostly for the outdoor batting cages. They have…read morefastpitch and slowpitch softball, plus baseball cages from 40-70 mph. The slowpitch cages seem to draw everyone from first timers having fun to local league players getting in practice swings. The pitching machines are accurate most of the time, but you'll occasionally have to adjust to a wild pitch. It can also get frustrating when a cage is down or the balls get stuck, since there usually isn't an employee stationed at the cages. When it's busy, people generally take turns. I do like the shaded picnic benches, grassy area, and nearby pro shop. You can get a reloadable card there, then swipe it at the cage and press the button to start. This weekend, my boyfriend and I also got a bucket of 250 golf balls. I hadn't swung a club in years, and I had back surgery a few months ago, so I was extremely rusty. To the gentleman I accidentally drilled with a golf ball. I am sooooo sorry!! I'll be sticking to the lanes with dividers from now on! The golf range has a nice shaded upper level with TVs, a shaded lower level, and an open area. Everyone I've interacted with has been friendly and helpful.

The course itself is a bit short and quirky, with several hills. If a ball slices or hooks too far, it often ends up on bare dirt. The fairways are nice and reasonably well maintained, and the greens are in good condition. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The ranger (or player assistant) was not particularly helpful, especially since the pace of play was somewhat slow throughout the day. One major caveat is that the golf carts are quite old. One cart bumped into ours due to an apparent brake malfunction. Fortunately, no one was injured.
