Country club feel, layout and facilities in a public course! I played the north course and it was pretty well-maintained. Challenging distance and long par threes when playing the blue tees. Saw some wildlife on the back nine: deer and the coyote. Carts have GPS. Good value and will be back!

I've been coming to Admiral Baker since 2007. I've had so many command functions here for the military and have played golf here so many times. The parking area is huge and the course is pretty easy to find with a GPS. Once you arrive the club house is behind the main area where the bar and party areas are. The clubhouse has everything from clubs, apparel, rentals, and many other golf accessories. There are two courses, The North Course (which is a little more difficult) and the South Course (which has a shorter play). Both courses are fun and have their own challenges. They have military and veteran discounts and the driving range is located back towards the exit area past the parking lot. So if you and your friends are in the mood for a great maintained course than this is a great course to go to!

Beautiful beautiful golf course and restaurant. Extraordinary atmosphere. Amazing, breath taking views of the golf course if dining on the patio. Well kept, groomed relaxing inviting property. I was here for lunch and drinks, unfortunately I don't play golf. I highly recommend this golf course for lunch/dinner, brunch, golf or for hosting an elegant catered event. Plenty of parking. The restaurant food was delicious. The drinks were strong and very very reasonable in price. Nice, approachable, outgoing staff. The waitress was not as inviting as the hostess or other staff we encountered during our visit.

Played the south. Great course to play at. The greens are well taken care of. Would love to play the north one day.

Ask the Community - Admiral Baker Golf Course

Do yo have a restaurant?

There is a restaurant inside the clubhouse. I have not had it, but I've seen some pretty good dishes walking through it.

The north course has more elevated tees and challenging holes, but not so difficult that the average golfer won't have a good time.

There's something for everyone, which makes this a really popular space to hang out. Across the street and away from the fray there is also a large practice putting green. I can't believe it took me so long to discover this place! Being a jack of all trades you can't expect everything to be excellent. The mini golf is not the greatest, and the food is not great. But it's an entertaining venue and the food will fill your belly. Meanwhile, you'll be enjoying the outdoors and the beautiful green environment.

A bit bummed the kitchen was out of the Housemade Ice Cream Sandwich, however, as I was hoping to try the rotating seasonal flavor! While the aesthetics of the bowl were somewhat lacking (mostly brown really isn't the most appetizing of colors...), the flavors were there. Ordered at the inside bar, then took my food outdoors. Shoutout to the live music!

Pros: all main 18 holes ranges from par 3s to par 5s offering great range of your golf set and challenges your skills throughout your clubs. There is plentiful amount of parking near hole one and the driving range. There is a separate 9 hole course that's smaller par 3s that you can choose between which is a nice feature. The views along downtown San Diego across the course was a great addition to the course. There is a cafe with food and drink next door to the main golf shop which is a nice feature. Cons: this place does get very busy so make sure to book way in advanced. Be aware that golf carts are an additional cost on top of your tee time. You can walk this course but with people playing behind you in carts, you might need to go faster than normal. Verdict: I would play this course again and again. With tee times ranging between $40 in twilight and upwards during the day, it's a solid choice for a great game

I've always tolerated the usual annoyances, but today's experience was disappointing. I attempted to play the 9-hole course with my girlfriend, who is new to golf. She was mostly coming to walk along with my friend and me, but wanted to hit a few tee and approach shots for practice. We were more than willing to pay for an extra round for her to be more comfortable on a course. The pro shop said this was fine, yet the starter/manager turned us away solely because she didn't have a full set of clubs, stating it is policy. This decision felt arbitrary and is inconsistent with my experiences here. I've repeatedly seen regulars on the 9-hole course play with few clubs, no bags, and dressed poorly without issue, yet she was singled out and denied. She was dressed appropriately, had the clubs she's comfortable with, and the interaction was unnecessarily hostile. While the course is kept in decent shape, the pace of play is always extremely slow, the range is in poor condition, and staff can be hit or miss. Experiences like this make it hard to recommend, especially given all the other issues. To the starter who turned us away: this kind of behavior doesn't grow the game or help the course. She was extremely excited to be included for a round and took the afternoon off of work to make it, which you ruined for some small power trip. This is a budget municipal facility, and if policies are going to be enforced, they should at least be enforced consistently. I've been around golf courses since before I could walk and have played courses around the country, and this was easily the least hospitable interaction I've had with course staff. Do better.

The green fees are $85, but my friend informed me he paid a $25 advance hold fee per person, so make that $110. I doubt one would be able to simply walk on to this course. We booked a few weeks in advance and only had two tee time options. We had an 11:30 start time, but didn't tee off until 11:50 due to a tournament, which was backed up. That said, I was both surprised and annoyed to see they allowed the foursome ahead of us to walk versus take carts. We were held up all day and didn't finish until just before 5 PM (sunset was at 4:45). My only other caution is there are at least two holes which run along heavily trafficked streets, where a lot of construction was also underway. If you're easily distracted by noise, this is probably not the course for you. We saw the cart girl on two occasions. Cold beverages and cold food, only. If you want hot food, you'll have to order before you start, after you finish, or between the 9th and 10th holes. I do not recall seeing any bathrooms on the back 9, so be sure to moderate your drinking or else roll the dice if you can't hold it.
