Played at Sea N Air and had one of the worst starter interactions I've experienced. Our tee time was 9:04, and by 9:06--while our last player (all women, by the way) was still on the tee box--the starter came up rushing us and telling people in our group to hurry up. Meanwhile, the group ahead of us had already started late and was still halfway down the fairway. So instead of addressing the actual delay, he chose to come after a group of women who were right on time and still in the process of teeing off. Completely unnecessary and not a great look. He even told us we couldn't take practice swings. At that point, it stops being about pace of play and starts feeling like we're just being singled out and rushed for no reason. It felt targeted, unprofessional, and honestly pretty disrespectful. Being rushed before you've even started sets the tone for the entire round--and not in a good way. To top it off, every green had just been freshly aerated. That's understandable for maintenance, but it absolutely affects play, and there was zero heads-up about it. Paying to putt on punched greens while also being rushed off the first tee? Not exactly a great experience. The irony is that when we finished, he told us we kept a great pace of play. So clearly his snap judgment was wrong--and he couldn't even acknowledge it or apologize. If you're going to manage pace, do it fairly and accurately. And if the course conditions aren't great, be upfront about it. This felt like poor management all around. read more

a perfect day was ruined only at the 1st hole. Golfing in a group of three, tee time @ 09:04 . We were approached at 09:06 by Sea N' Air staff member, to "stop holding up the line" along with manly other things said while our third member was teeing off (mid swing). Not to mention the group in front (5 gentleman ) of us were late to their tee time and were still in our fairway but he didn't hold them accountable he only harassed us (3 ladies!) As 3 women that serve with the intention to come out and play golf to relieve stress, it's incredibly disheartening to be treated so poorly. read more

Awesome golf . Wide fairways and very forgiving course layout. The jet fighters and vintage plans flying above is a sight to see.

I stop by here all the time before going home. You can hit the ball for a little bit to make tour day go by. There's quite a few people that plays sometimes so it can get a little crowded. Also this is next to the airfield so there's always traffic on and off the area. Just watch out where the ball goes when your hitting it, you don't want any loose cannons out there. read more

I've played here a few times and the course is well maintained and great but the staff at the pro shop and whoever answers their calls are always rude and have terrible customer service. Hopefully someone with the staff sees this and can make improvements. You work at a golf course which is arguably one of the best jobs ever I don't understand why they'd have such a bad attitude ALL the time. They also won't let you reserve a tee time if you're a single which is weird. read more

If you get a chance to play this course I definitely recommend it...for the back 9 holes alone. They offer views of Pt. Loma and the Coronado beaches. I wish the course was reversed and those views were on the front 9. As another reviewer has mentioned, their website is completely outdated and not maintained. Pricing on that site is incorrect. They used to charge retirees by rank but now it is all one set fee and I believe around $27 on a weekend, not including the cart. Civilian guests are $37 on the weekend. Cart fee was at least $18 and while more expensive than other bases, these carts come with the latest GPS technology so you don't have to guess where the pin is and yardage if you are new to the course. The greens seem well maintained and play seems a little long at 5 full hours on the weekends. If comparing to other Coronado venues for golf, Sea & Air GC is quite a deal, especially as beer and sodas are pretty cheap too. read more

Called for a tee time, and the guy in the pro shop said a tourney was scheduled all day (25 Aug 16). I told him their web site d/n list the tourney. He begged to differ w/ me. Okay. I re-checked the web site, and found no evidence of any tourney on that day. I then e-mailed the club pro using the info provided on the web site: www.seanairgc.org My e-mail kicked back, saying the address couldn't be found. I double-checked my typing/spelling against the web page -- it wasn't me. These folks need to update their website. Iv played here multiple times and I wanted too again I called Tuesday to see when I could book a tee time and I was told 3:45pm was the earliest and I said "ohhh okay" and got HUNG UP ON!!!! after that not disconnected but hung up on I'm not trying to be a Karen and I debated making this review but that definitely was not impressive and put a bad impression of this establishment I expect something to be done about it read more

Sea N Air is located on base at Coronado north island. You can be escorted by someone with base access to play this course. I actually love playing here, the fairways and greens are well kept. The tea boxes could use some maintenance work but will not affect play. Other than that no complaints from this very affordable 18 hole golf course. At certain parts of the day you'll be accompanied by planes taking off and landing over the back 9. Absolutely awesome! read more

As far as military courses go, this one is top tier. The staff's helpfulness and friendliness are above average. The carts have GPS. The range and clubhouse are respectable. The course is green and three holes are against the Pacific Ocean, though I think the slope and rating are a little low overall. What I don't like about the course are the greens. I think a great golf course will have 18 greens (and the practice green) that are the same. Same speed, firmness, etc. I played Sea N Air yesterday, and the greens were very soft with spike marks all over. Additionally, some were faster than others. Dollar for dollar though, this is the best round of golf in San Diego! read more

First of all, Smitty is awesome! Great customer service in the Golf shop! My husband golfs often - I do not. I lost a bet that landed me a day of golf with him. I had never been out on the golf course and yet I felt comfortable and like I fit in right away. The golfers ahead and behind us were all very polite. Of course, my husband knows golf course etiquette so he was able to keep me from making anyone mad I am sure ;) A golf cart rental, and a few cold ones completed the day. Return of the cart and my rented clubs couldn't have been easier - and again, experienced such wonderful customer service. Especially for being on base, I was pleased with the views and the scenery. I am looking forward to going back- and getting better! I am glad I lost that bet after all, never realized how fun golfing can be. read more

If you're active duty, reserve or reitred military this one of two great courses that you can play on the cheap. They range is nice and the pro shop has everything you need for a day on the links. Miramar is another great course but I would opt for the one closest to you because they are both great. read more

On of my favorite spots on earth. Play with Seals and see the beautiful Coronado beach from the course. The course is challenging despite being so flat. Nature takes it's toll. I have been to this course many times over the years. For the money it is a good course with some ocean views on the back 9. Not well maintained fairways, greens are very sandy hit or miss. None of that is the issue. The issue is service, this course extremely over books, If there is someone with rank ahead of you. They WILL treat you less than. If you want to come to a place where it reflects ever other military restaurant, then this is your place. The food is bland and the staff normally places your order on another table. If you go outside, you will be attacked by a flock of seagulls. I'm not talking about the 80s band. The seagulls will bring you back to high school when you had to protect your food. This was the worst golf experience ever. A friend if mine is getting deployed and invited us out to play. The staff was fantastic and the course was great. The people playing were incredibly rude. On the second hole some guy came up to us and started yelling at us about playing through the national anthem. None of us heard it and everyone else continued playing. We were playing with a guy who was not the best golfer. We were having a blast and laughing and cracking jokes. He hit someone's cart on an adjacent fairway, apologized and the gentleman was so cool about it. However, another unrelated guy saw us and came over and yelled at us and said he'd get us kicked off for laughing. The third instance was when the group ahead of us had some angry Asian lady who said we were intentionally trying to hit people. None of us are good enough to even come close to hitting anything on purpose. Everyone here was wound so tight it was unbelievable. What happened to playing for fun and to have a great time and enjoy the day? Get over yourselves. I will not be coming back here again. read more

I've golfed here several times and have eaten here for lunch and breakfast several times as well. The food is above average and a solid choice on base and the course itself I think is a phenomenal course with plenty of different challenges and gorgeous sight lines. It's also near having the planes on final just above you while playing hole 13. With that said, I'm giving a couple stats off here namely because the "players' assistant" is always giving a hard time to people on the course. I've played in formal groups where we were playing seriously and informal settings where it was the most amateur of novices playing for pure giggles and seem to always be approached by him in an unprofessional manner doing something wrong. Very nice course, and play is good for all players of experience. Water hazards add that little extra level of difficulty but makes it so much sweeter when you can clear them. Only thing that I will say that was not a huge fan of, is its on an air station, so it's very noisy. But being in the military it doesn't even bother me, and the fact you can play in San Diego on the water without draining your bank account is pretty amazing. read more

I had the fortunate opportunity to play a round of golf as guest with the Sea 'N Air womens golf league. The course was in fantastic shape and the greens were excellent. Many of the holes have a view of the base, ocean or beach. Such an honor to play with the wives of retired navy servicemen. It was the highlight of my trip to San Diego. read more

Please note, I am not a golfer and am rating the breakfast at the restaurant only. I'm always on the lookout for a good breakfast spot, and have found some nice gems hidden at golf courses and small airports; however, this is not the case. I ordered the 19th Hole Special. This is two biscuits and gravy, two eggs (any style) and their house special potatoes. The cashier, who was pleasant, gave me my order number and I went to find a seat. She gave me #13 and said, "oh that's bad luck." Little did I know this would be true with my order. The biscuits and gravy were the best part, but sub par compared to others I've had at other locations. The eggs were ordered over medium, and they turned out a little greasy. Although, this could have been a side effect of sitting next to the potatoes. The potatoes were cubed and apparently bathed in butter. I couldn't eat them because they were crisp as if not cooked at all. Overall I am unsatisfied, but this my first time here and I did not see any other reviews. So, it was worth a shot. Positives: Uhhhh, there is a nice view of the golf course, which appears to be well maintained. I have a great appreciation for a manicured lawn, especially if I don't mow it. read more

I was lucky enough to get to play this course for the first time a couple of Sunday afternoons ago, as a guest of a retired navy seaman. We had been debating between this course or Miramar, but settled on Sea N Air because the day was so hot that we felt things would be more comfortable by the shore. The biggest impression that was made on me was how bumpy the greens were, especially the front nine. One member of our group marked his ball on the green with a long tee, and I literally saw a ball hop *over* this tee as it made it's trip towards the hole. The greens putted very slow on the front nine as the the speed of the ball was eaten up by all the bumps. The layout of the course was fairly nice, with some water hazards that hide themselves in valleys just under the horizon of the flat ground. Although we got carts, the course looked very walkable. The back nine was really nice, with the refreshing ocean breeze cooling off a very hot day. Pace of play was pretty good, with my own group falling behind on a couple of holes because of bad luck and bathroom breaks. A beverage cart made it's way around the course and passed us three times, but the back nine snack bar was unfortunately closed by the time we reached it in the late afternoon. The service of the pro shop and the starter were both excellent, with the starter giving us some tips on the first few holes. Made it around in about 4 hrs 15 minutes. Overall it was an enjoyable day, and I would return if given another opportunity. read more

Do not show up if you have a pair of players and one player doesn't show up. I called to make a tee time and I asked to make sure if any player cannot make it if that'll affect the tee time, when asked, they said no but the exact opposite happened when I showed up.I had a pair to play I could only make it and they told me they couldn't let me play because there isn't two of us. Let me add they paired me with another twosome originally. So why exactly couldn't I play? Wouldn't I be playing with the other two? Extremely dissatisfied not professional way to handle that. I have played here many times with my Active Duty Marine husband. He shoots in the 80's and I shoot in the low 100's. We typically play on weekends. The play is average I would not say slow at all. It takes max 5 hours when we have played. There may be a couple Par 3's where we have had to wait, however nothing too aggravating. My husband hates to wait as it messes with his rhythm of play and we don't seem to have a problem here. The traffic is not bad getting on the base on the weekends so we have never had to wait. A very nice-looking course, full of very slow players and terrible traffic to/from the course. If you've got 7 or 8 hours to blow when you want to play golf, then Sea N Air is a great course to play. It's very pretty, pretty cheap (especially if your Active Duty or Retired Military), and the ocean breezes keep the air livable. However, even on weekdays, the non-serious golfers just litter the course with slow play (I've never taken less than 5 hours, even on a Wed morning), and people who just don't care what they're doing. This last round, the group in front of us took selfies on the par-3 green, after having just taken 3 strokes EACH to get to the green, where they all had to drive to each players spot to hit. They walked across the sand trap to get to the green, but couldn't seem to find one of the 4 rakes. We also found ourselves fixing about a dozen ball marks on the greens over the course of the round. And this kind of things seems to happen a LOT there. No such thing as a Marshal on a military course in SoCal anymore, they're "Player Helpers" who basically just drive around with water. Can't have an ex-NCO yelling at an Admiral to "keep moving, please" after all (not that Admirals are the ones slowing play down, since they usually get to play enough to be decent). And then there's the traffic. If you start your round before 8, you're stuck in traffic getting onto the island. If you finish after 2:30 (and you will, if you start after 9), then you're hosed on the way home. Look, I love the course. It's fun to play, and the beach looks great in backdrop, but I don't think I'll be back. Admiral Baker plays much faster, is much easier to get to, and is just as cheap. read more

This is a great course for the price. The staff is always trying to improve the course and a lot of work has been out into it. I like to walk l, but for those that don't they have brand new carts with gps. The back 9 gives you a view of the ocean almost the whole time and it is really a good challenge on a windy day. The staff for me has always been accommodating to me, and the food is decent at the 19th hole. Actually a really nice pro shop. Plus a driving range. The course offers a lot of challenges wither it be distance, bunkers, raised greens, hard puts, dog legs. It has a little odd everything and the par 3's are no gimmies. Definitely recommend going, during the week. If you want a weekend spot call ahead. They also have been very good about getting my group in when they have been full. Like I said very accomodating. read more
