This park is a great place to walk your dog ( they have 3 different sections for what size dog you have) , have a birthday gathering , shoot some hoops , disk golf , or get some steps in . What is not great is the parking .... Especially on weekend it's a challenge to get a spot even with a handicapped pass . What a fun park. We took our dog and grandson here last Friday. School was out somewhere because there were a ton of teenagers there. And it was a delight to see them playing on the large structure and enjoying the swings. My grandson is 18 months so we stuck to the smaller playground structure and had fun. My daughter took our dog to the dog park area where he had such fun playing with two other puppies. It was a great afternoon. We lucked out on parking but both lots were maxed out. Mast Park is a very nice park with some very good amenities. I came for a 40 minute walk, and a few walks around the park accomplished my goal. The park offers large playgrounds for the little ones, clean restrooms, a dedicated dog park and walk, good picnic and BBQ areas, and basketball courts. Great trails both paved and dirt for walking with trees and a disc golf course, playground lots of tables and benches and a dog park. We did not use the dog park nor facilities just went for a walk and it was lovely. Park is well maintained, parking was easy and there was EV charging too. Picnic spaces require a reservation/permit based on what we saw. At the disc golf course use area there was a snack shop selling cold drinks, dippin dots and ice cream, snacks. read more

This rating is for the dog park only. This park is huge! First parking is a little rough in the parking lot but supposedly u can park in surrounding neighborhoods and take a trail in. In general the park is nice but it's a little bit of a walk from parking to the dog park. The small and large dogs are separated and both enclosures are huge. On the small side there were some agility type structures which weren't super attractive to the pugs. There was no grass, mostly dirt/mulch. There is a table with seats. They had large water buckets you could take out of the park to refill. It wasn't very busy. I had a pug meetup and it was mostly pugs. We had a good time overall but parking and no grass is not ideal. read more

I would love to have my dog in the small dog park, except there are big dogs in the small dog park. I guess they feel their BIG dog is safer in the SMALL dog park, instead of the big dog section. This keeps my 12 pound dog from getting play time with other small dogs. I wish they would honor the sign, and not let any dogs over 30 pounds in the SMALL dog park. read more

It's been a while since you've been around your pals and you really want to go sniff a few bottoms and squat on grass. You should really convince your people to bring you to Mast Park. There's three main doggy play areas, separated by weight. This is mostly okay except sometimes I see a dog in the big dog area and really want to go bark at him. I spend my time in the medium dog enclosure with my sister Loafy and my cousin Roger. There's lots of room to run, and plenty of things to play on. The wood chips provide an exceptional surface for me to do my dog-business as well. There's always a great mix of friends to be made. I'm a herding dog so I like to get everyone to run as a group. My sister ignores these instincts and finds lots of friendly people to shake down for treats. My cousin loves to go fast and jump on tables. My people like it because it's a very nice area with plenty of parking and even EV chargers. There's nice paths to explore along the river and lots of good places to eat nearby. I must say this bothers me because they have fun and get good food but do not share. I also noticed that some play some kind of frisbee game in the park and that also seems nice but my people don't play that game. Anyhow if you like running and playing and sniffing bottoms and wagging your tail then this place is for you. read more

One of my favorite playgrounds to take my grandkids to. Pluses: Lots of trees and grass and birds and nature in addition to the play structures. Plenty of benches and picnic tables and some are in the shade. Friendly and safe people everywhere. Clean restrooms and lots of water fountains. There's even some exercise equipment that is quite fun! They have three different play structures for different skill levels and ages, and they have wonderful SWINGS, which my grands love! I am often running from one to the other pushing them so I get a good workout and have fun as well! ( and I'm having as much fun as they are because I get to play with my special blessings, making memories) Did you wonder if there are any cons?? Well, there isn't much shade on the play structures themselves, so they get very hot in the sun, which is quite gnarley in Santee, especially in the summer. You must wear pants to use the slides or you will get BURNED. There's so many nice sycamore and oak trees here but not enough to shade the playgrounds. And they don't get much breeze here either. I think this is my only negative, because they have provided ample parking with an additional gravel parking lot. And it has wonderful paths to stroll and there are many dog walkers so my grands enjoy meeting the dogs and petting them. And after you get too hot and need a break, there are lots of yummy options on Mission Gorge Rd. Handels homemade ice cream and Chick fil A are our favorites. There's a Costco nearby too, if you prefer crowds!! So here's a fun summer adventure option! read more

We are so lucky to have this dog part in Santee! People drive from Alpine and North Park to visit because they hear how nice it is. It's mostly wood chipped with an area for ball chasing dogs to run without other dogs and people getting in the way. The park has poop bags that I've never seen empty and plenty of trash cans. It's fully fenced in with plenty of shade (when there are leaves on the trees) and benches. This is my happy place. read more

We went to this park to use the disc golf course. This course is fairly new, built around 2005 and designed by Allen Risley. The course is mostly flat and slightly wooded area. It's a total of 9 baskets/holes. They have multiple tees/pins. Layout will be A, B or C. This is not a free course. They have kiosks near the start. Monday-Friday $4. Saturday & Sunday $5. They also have monthly passes through the City of Santee Website. This was a nice course. I was surprised by how many people were rotating around the course. The park was well maintained and filled with people. The park offers a large dog park towards the center and a play area for the kids. They also have a half basketball court. They have a nice pathway that circles the park. It also follows the disc golf area. So, if you have company who did not want to play and just wanted to watch. They're able to follow you around through the pathway if they didn't want to walk on the grass/dirt path. read more

Watch out, if you aren't paying attention, you'll drive past the entrance to this park. The park is not visible from the street so it can be misleading. You actually have to enter and go through the parking lot to actually see the park. This park is beautiful! They did an awesome job on the landscaping. Parking can be a pain in the AMs.. it seems like a prime spot between 9-11ams! There is an "overflow" gravel lot on the right side when you enter. Ive been here twice and each time I was not able to find a spot in the parking lot, but always had luck in the gravel lot. They have multiple age friendly play grounds. Plenty of "picnic" spots, bball court.. dog park.. disc golf, cornhole. Its pretty neat. I know there is a dirt trail around the park, but I havent had a chance to venture out and around completely yet since my kiddos are always occupied on the playground. I believe there is also a "cafe/food" shack located near the dog park. Unfortunately, they were closed but still left their menu/signs out around the park. It was a bit misleading to expect some food during the hours it said they were open, but with this covid thing, im not sure if they are limiting their hours. Definitely one of the better parks we have been too! Five stars if the cafe had been open! read more

This is a really nice park! The play structures are really big with tall slides and a lot of stuff to climb! There's also a small playground nearby for the little ones to play on. The park is clean, there's a basketball court and a lot of grass to play on. There's a workout area, a big dog park, and frisbee golf course. This review is mostly for disc golfers: you gotta go, man Been disc golfing for only two months but this place and Morley are where it's at. They have 9 holes with alternating A/B pads. You don't get in the way of people walking or strolling through the park and depending on what t pad you're on this is more of a fun obstacle course/not super long holes (except for 1 or 2) type of situation. It's also RARELY (sometimes on weekends) packed. Parking is also not that crazy. Wait 5 minutes or so and one always opens up. As for kiddos: honestly I get super annoyed a park like this didn't exist when I was growing up. They have swings, they have slides, they even have things you sit on while mom and dad spin you around! Heck I wanna go on that NOW as a grown woman! They also have a basketball court for anyone who wants to play and an awesome dog park. My goal every time I go is to get a dog to let me pet it so I mean never a disappointment tbh. read more

If you are looking for a beautiful, nature-filled park, this is a great spot. I'm always looking for playgrounds that feel more like we wandered into a garden than a city park. The play structures are large and wonderfully challenging; offering a variety of skills for a child to work on. There are also play areas for smaller children who aren't quite ready to work into climbing or adventuring down tall slides. A dog park resides just a small walk away from the children's area if you are looking for a spot to run your pet. Also located near the park is a walking trail to explore more nature. It's a beautiful park, but I would not wonder off too far into the trails. I took my kids on the trails past the underpass and there were several homeless individuals talking to themselves. I don't mind them they just become so unpredictable when they are under the influence. The trails are also full of trash that homeless leave behind. Came here to get the fur babies out of the house and to socialize. The left side is for smaller dogs which had at the most in an hour two other pups. However the right side where big dogs go to play had sooo many people, 6ft apart wasn't happening. Few dogs started to get aggressive, overall it was nice to get the doggy's out. There are no bowls for water inside the gates, suggest bringing your own portable water bowl. There is a water fountain on the outside but that's a drag to put your pup on a leash go outside the gate and than go back. To much... As for the play ground NO WAY!!! I told my kids sorry but they weren't aloud on the play ground. No one was really wearing masks, more than 50 people in that general facility. read more

Every weekend my family and I explore to find a new playground for the kids to enjoy. I had seen a couple of pictures of this playground previously and knew it was newer so it got out on our list to go to. We came around 4 PM on a Saturday and it was super busy. There is parking available and we were lucky to snag a spot and get playing. We started at the toddler area which was cute with some climbing and a couple of little slides but it was a bit too little. There were only a few kids there but just those few made it feel crowded. My son is a wild one though and there was no way we could keep him in the toddler area so we wound up in the big kid area. Everyone was respectful of his size and he mostly kept to himself while we played. There are multiple structures in the big kid area and we explored them all. One of the structures has 3 levels. We went to the slide on level 2 but it was a hard no for letting my son down the level 3 slide.... it is huge! The slides here are also super good ones, you fly down them. There is plenty of seating through out with benches and picnic tables and there is also some green space to hang out at. It was busy but since it is so big it didn't feel too bad and everyone was really respectful of giving as much space as possible and wearing their masks. Overall we were really impressed here. The park is really nice and we liked the play structures. However since the toddler area is a bit small and I think the big kid area is too big for my guy we are going to wait a bit before coming back.... but we will be back. read more

We love this park! We love the ICE CREAM SHACK near the disks course! Much cheaper than the ice cream trucks that pull up wanting $6 per ice cream and the shack sells water and other beverages! This park has it all. If You have kids, This park is for you. You have a dog, then this park is for you. You like to play basketball, yep they have basketball courts. Ping pong, you bet. Cornhole? Oh yeah! Not only do they have it all but everything is really nice. The park equipment is top notch with a lot of different options for kids. They also have workout equipment right next to the kids area which both times I've seen has kids climbing all over it. So good luck if you're trying to workout, but it's there if you need it. They also have a really nice dog park with fire hydrates and ramps for the dog. It's probably the fanciest dog park that I've ever seen. Overall this park is very well manicured. There is a lot of space and lots to do but it is also very busy with all the options it provides for people. Not surprising. If you build it they will come. read more

Such a cool park!! The play structures are awesome and huge!!! There's different areas for kids of different ages and sizes, which is super nice. It's beautiful and nice to walk through. The only reason it's a 4 is because nothings really shaded so if it's anything over 80 degrees the equipment is going to burn the crap out of your kids. Parkings a wee bit rough but they do have a not too far additional parking area. It's so pretty with all the plants and trees but prepare for an allergy attack if you have seasonal allergies. read more

Mast Park has become our go to park. We drive out to Santee several times a week to walk the trails, play disc golf, visit the playground or go to the dog park. The disc golf course is 9 holes or 18 if you run through a second time and play shorts and then longs. There are some challenging holes and they move the baskets enough to keep you on your toes. You never get too comfortable with where the baskets are which is fantastic. It's well taken care of and clean but there are a couple of places to lose some discs- as is with any good disc golf course. It's worth the money to play each time but the monthly pass is the way to go if you're like us and you play several (sometimes seven) days a week. We enjoy every trip here immensely and choose Mast over the dozen or so parks closer to our home. It's a beautiful park and we love it here. If I had one complaint, it would be the cost to rent the gazebos for birthday parties. We were forced to look elsewhere for our sons' celebrations because the prices were so much higher than other places. However, that has no bearing on our rating because using the park as it was meant to be used- to have a mostly free good time- it's five stars all day. read more

This park has been recently renovated to include a full scale playground with all new structures. Swing set for all ages, spinning seats, stand up rockers, a climbing structure and a climbing/spinning cage. The park has new picnic tables all around the park and new bathrooms at both ends of the park. They also have a new snack bar that serves alcohol and provides rental costs and fees for the disc frisbee golf course that surrounds the park perimeter. There is an off leash dog park with several tables within the park itself. There is a full basketball court too and lots of shade throughout. I recently went to Mast Park to play a round of disc golf. A nine basket course that you play twice. The second time around throwing on a different launch pads. Thus creating a different distance as well as different angle. The cool thing is that each hole is properly marked for easy recognition. Free to play. The course is affectionally called "The Sandbox". The course is usually just sand and wood chips unless it rains. Then the course will have some up croppings of green, mostly weeds. The advantages of playing here is that course is very forgiving with very few rollers. So when your disc hits near the baskets. They stick close without your disc rolling too far away. Wide open with minimal trees on most holes. A perfect practice course or a course for beginners of the game. You can play one or two games without much interruption on most days. Overall, a nice course to play. Baskets, launch pads and signage are in excellent shape. Minimal outside distractions. Only once in a while you will get a person walking across the course not knowing or caring about disc golf. Again, free to play. This place is a winner. read more

I am writing this post to get revenge on this nasty little black dog and his owner. We went to mast park yesterday and within 30 secs of entering the small dog enclosure, this horrible little black dog with flappy ears was on top of my puppy. My puppy was on his back and showed his belly but this dog didn't seemed to care and attacked his neck and face violently. I immediately left with my puppy and checked him. At the time, I didn't see anything. But that's the thing with dogs, depending on the fur and color, it's hard to see wounds. It wasn't until after I gave him a shower that I saw blood on his face. It turned out that this nasty dog crushed his face hard enough to sink his teeth into my puppy's face. When I saw the puncture wound on my puppy's face, I immediately took him to the ER. They gave him pain meds, antibiotics, and a rabies booster shot, because who knows who this dog has been biting. It doesn't seem like his first time. His owner is easily recognizable: short middle-aged guy with a farmer's hat and a bike with a box in the back. Don't expect the owner to do much, he will just pick up his dog, pretend to scowl him and put him back down. If you see them, don't go in! Don't be like me and spend 3 hrs and $650 in the ER. If your dog fought with this dog before, I don't blame your dog. If he/she got in a couple of scratches or bites, then good! Revenge for my little puppy who didn't get in a single scratch or bite. read more

Came here for the disc golf course. To find it, just walk a bit past the playground and you'll end up at hole 1. The course itself is pretty nice. Most of it seems to be on a dried creek bed or pond or something similar, as the ground is quite sandy. There are two tees per hole, so if you play all nine a couple times you'll get two different looks from the tee. For the most part, most tee shots are pretty wide open and nothing requires a 400ft bomb or anything. Not the most challenging dg course, but it's free to play and not nearly as crowded as, say, Morley Field. read more
