We adore Willoughby General! It is absolutely "Wants & Needs"! The food is thoughtful, fresh and inventive, with great plant-based options. We get breakfast, lunch and treats on a regular basis. Also with an abundance of little gifts and plenty of love for your dog! But more than that, it is a haven for connecting with neighbors and community.

Great spot. Check it out. Good people with good product. The layout of the store is incredible and boasts of some rear items.

They have sushi, some anime toys, a bunch of other Japanese food, and random goods that I know my youngest niece would be obsessed with. When I went to check in, I noticed that I couldn't find it... At some point they changed their name. They're called Harumi now, but I'm not sure how recent that is. It appears they've always been a Japanese market, though. I don't recall the last time I went to a Japanese market outside of Montgomery County, MD... And these prices seem so much better honestly. It makes me wish I had markets like this closer to home. The sushi and sesame mochi I got were fantastic. And my niece loved the chopsticks I got her.

I've been visiting this market since they first opened. Back then, it was modest, but over the past few months it's grown into what I'd now consider a must-visit spot. The market has clearly gained traction, and for good reason. One of the coolest details is behind the counter--there are some amazing anime figure displays, which I believe are also for sale (and yes, I want one myself ). The onigiri and sushi that everyone comes in for are made fresh daily, which really sets this place apart. Overall, it's an average-sized market with a solid selection of snacks, a good amount of groceries you'd typically find in any Japanese-style market, and a small but nice selection of Taiwanese and Japanese beers. What I appreciate most is that the market doesn't over-advertise like some others do. The layout makes it easy to focus on what you need and want without feeling overwhelmed by marketing. I stopped by again yesterday--mainly for the onigiri, which I regularly travel from LIC for. Yes, there are other markets that sell onigiri, but many are cold and not made fresh daily. That distinction matters. With all that said, I'm giving this review 4.8 stars, only because I'd love to see a wider selection of Korean beers. Add that, and it's an easy 5 stars--though honestly, it already feels like one.

We started with two perfect oysters which had ikura, ramps, Thai chili oil and coriander flowers. Then sugar snap peas cooked perfectly with a hint of sesame - oil some special kind. But the superstar starter was the leek custard, with a mound of Osetra caviar atop a little dot of wasabi sprinkled with Alyssum flowers. $55 but worth it! Then we moved on to the seafood risotto which was the most toothsome risotto made with Japanese rice - seafood broth - and a mound of fresh red shrimp, razor clams, scallops hint of chili and a bit of mint. Perfection The charred white asparagus with sable fish with Shiro miso and green garlic was a complete surprise - delicious. Another superstar was the soft egg sitting in a sea of blue crab meat - in a brown butter garam salt bath. Served with a crusty baguette that we used to lap up all the amazingly tasty sauce. Unique - unsurpassed in flavor. We ending the savory courses with a lovely steelhead trout surrounded by thinly sliced fresh asparagus and fava beans with this basil and almond. Despite eating every last drop we made room for strawberry rhubarb pavlova. So well prepared. Little bits of crunchy raw rhubarb and nuts added a nice contrast to this often soft dessert. The wines are incredible and we had a Portuguese blend with a Cortes to cema (sp?) Service was beyond excellent. Friendly professional and even fun. Wine knowledge is first class. Hip and cool. The room is small. Getting a reservation is better than winning the lottery but just as challenging ! We love this place!

The atmosphere was super intimate and cozy, and the service was paced really well throughout the night. Some of the dishes definitely could've had a little more flavor or seasoning, especially compared to how hyped up the restaurant is, but there were still a few standout plates that made the meal memorable. My favorites were the clams, the tuna, and the rice dish, all three were so simple but done really well. The tuna especially tasted incredibly fresh and balanced, and the clams had such a light, clean flavor that worked perfectly with the wine. You can tell this is one of those places focused on quality ingredients and a more understated approach to food rather than overly heavy flavors. Overall, really glad we went and it's definitely worth trying at least once, especially if you love sharing plates and trying a bunch of different dishes throughout the night.

Service is quick and friendly and pasta is served in cardboard containers along with disposable utensils. The portions are fine but the prices are high for what you get. Not surprising since Peonia is located right on Bedford. The Fettuccine Alfredo with mushrooms that my friend and I shared came out to around 16 dollars which is cheaper than what most Italian establishments will charge you. What they lack in formal restaurant service, they make up for with creamy and tasty pasta. The fettuccine was al dente and the alfredo sauce is pretty good. Think a step up from Rao's frozen pastas but less satisfying than restaurant style pasta. I'm not saying I'll run over for more pasta anytime soon, but at least Peonia will fulfill a spontaneous pasta craving. A good on-the-go option.

I ordered a fettuccine Alfredo with mushrooms and extra Parmesan cheese, with tip it came out to $17.64. This space is bright, open, and clean, and service was pretty quick. The pasta itself was a little soft by the time I was able to eat it but portion itself is not bad. For their opening week right now they have a buy 1 get one 50% off deal. I'll definitely have to try their other sauces and topping combinations because the fettuccine was pretty bland. Overall I had a pleasant experience and the employees here are nice. Hopefully menu expands or they add specialty/limited time dishes.
