Truly authentic German food in a laid-back, no-fuss spot where you can count on a hearty meal. Order the schnitzel and sausages, they never miss. Their beer list is top-notch (and the cider is a hidden gem). We've come here multiple times with friends, and it's always a great hangout.

I love how you can get your Wurst multiple different ways. We tried the Bavarian plate and the SF style. I was tempted by the nachos, but decided against it. The potato salad on the Bavarian plate stole the show. It's so simple but so good. You order at the counter or find a spot to sit and order using QR code. Once your food is ready, the bring it to your table. The dining area is made up of long tables with benches so great for a large group.

This place always has space for a large groups, so great to come to if you're throwing a gathering last minute. In my opinion their food and beer is just okay and is overpriced. That being said, their happy hour prices are decent.

My first time here! Food and beer was pretty decent but unfortunately had a really bad service experience, our group felt like we were being ignored by our waitress at each step of the way (being asked our order without having been brought any menus, having to go up to the counter to grab ourselves utensils) so our overall experience wasn't too enjoyable. Want to come back to try more of the menu, but going to avoid friday night rush next time!

What a fantastic spot to explore all kinds of beers! The sausages are absolutely delicious, and the staff is super friendly. I feel really lucky that this place is just next door to my hotel!

I've walked past here countless times, and finally decided to give it a try. This place is great for people watching and has a nice comfy vive to it. You can order using a QR code, where a server will bring drinks/food out to you, and you can pay using the QR code as well. They have a good variety of beers and all the ones I tried were good. I also had one of the spicy brats and it definitely had a kick to it. The chips were also good, and overall the prices are reasonable for SF. Definitely a good option for a more casual meal/drink!

A dog friendly indoor beer garden (yes dogs allowed inside). Friendly and helpful service where they allow you to taste before you buy. Beautiful decor with communal tables too. Self-service on tap water, board games and sinks outside the toilets are nice amenities. Oh yes, the beer and bratwursts are great too. They have a nice x-section on beer, from pils to IPA to wine. German-style food choices compliments their beer nicely. With the communal tables - we have enjoyed coming here with just 2 people to meeting here with a big group. We will return!

Love this place. Thank you for bringing back the chicken sausages! They are fantastic and go so damn well with your delicious brews. You space is lovely and bright and the service is always friendly and happy to help. Thank you again!

They recently changed their whole menu and only a few smaller, less flavorful sausages now. Food was okay still, but it was quite a let down from what they had before.

My friends have been telling me to come check this place out, and I was not disappointed! First off, the vibe is so cool. Very open and airy. Fun pops of color. They have a large selection of draft beer, so I got the "Hello Sexy" , which was pretty good! Then I got the SF Style Wurst which is this delicious sausage served on a French roll with amazing toppings. It came quick and hot! So good. Finally, I had the pretzels with two dips: beer cheese (my favorite) and spicy mustard. The staff were also so nice and gave great recommendations. It was the perfect lunch in Duboce. Highly recommend!

The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a place like this as it is lively but not loud, cozy but not cramped, and always buzzing with good energy, from the staff through to most of the patrons on any given night. The menu is a greatest-hits tour of German comfort food. The deviled eggs are a must to start your meal and the wienerschnitzel is my personal go‑to as it is crispy, moist, and so flavorful every time I've had it. The jägerschnitzel is another standout if you are feeling something a little lighter and saucier as it rich and savory in all the right ways, and the sausages are always banging and perfect alongside a big stein of beer. It's the kind of food that feels made for long conversations and slow sipping. What really elevates Suppenküche, though, is the people. The staff are super friendly and clearly know their stuff, always ready with a beer recommendation or a menu suggestion and the patrons tend to match that vibe; if you end up at the bar or sharing a table, which is pretty common if you come with a small group, you're likely to find yourself chatting with someone new before long. There's honestly no better way to make new friends in SF than bonding over schnitzel and a great German beer at Suppenküche.

They offer reservations, but I don't think they're necessary unless you're going with a larger party. We made a reservation for Saturday around 6 PM, but the restaurant was empty when we arrived. The space is small but very cozy. I imagine once it's darker outside that the warm, intimate atmosphere would make it a great date spot. We got the goulash and sausages. The goulash is more stew-like than soup-like. It was tasty and straightforward, though I was expecting a bit more depth from the paprika. The sausages were 10/10. We tried the Hungarian Sweet and German Spice, and I highly recommend the latter if you're looking for one that packs a punch. The plate comes with a few gherkins, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes with gravy, which made for a well-rounded mix of flavors and textures.

We came here specifically looking for authentic German food, and what we were served was nothing close to the German food we know. The biggest problem, though, was the beer. It had an extremely unpleasant odor that reminded us of rotten pork and was so off-putting that we genuinely both still can throw up thinking about. How can you advertise yourself as an authentic German restaurant when no one preparing or serving the food seemed to have any meaningful knowledge of German cuisine or heritage? The food was equally disappointing and did not resemble the German dishes we were expecting in either flavor or preparation. On top of that, the prices we were charged were significantly higher than the prices we had seen online, which made the experience even more frustrating. I understand that restaurants can have an off night, and I don't enjoy writing reviews like this. But between the undrinkable beer, unpleasant smell, disappointing food, pricing discrepancy, and poor service, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on our experience.
