This is an amazing pub with Austrian background. The food was good. I had fish and chips and it was very crunchy fried but not as much flavor as it could be. But in terms of the goulash it was very good. And the brockwurst was great with the mustard provided. Service was outstanding. And it is a classic pub experience and ambience. We will be back!

German sausages. Drooling. This is the best place to get German sausages. I have no idea which is the best but it is the one you order! I had the Bockwurst. Came with skinny fries. Added a salad to appease the guilt and balance out the fries. I would like to try the schnitzel one of these days. The place is super reasonable. The place was quiet since there were no actual competitive sports. Giants was losing! May I make a suggestion to the owner, add to the menu, 5 sausages for $35 and add a big plate of fries to be split among 2 to 3 people. This way, we can try all the sausages at once.

OMG this place is a madhouse. It's severely understaffed. There is only ONE waitress who's running the place. She's doing her best, but I feel sorry for her.

Great bar stop for those casual get togethers or date night rendezvous - tasty food, friendly service, and a wide selection of drinks. It's one of those places where it's so easy to lose track of time because of how comfortable you feel there - will definitely be coming back!

Steins is fun! The menu (primarily German fare) is short but consists of a robust variety of sausages as well as schnitzel. Thus far, I've tried all of the sausages, finding them each to be good in their own way (the bratwurst is probably my favorite). On my most recent trip, and despite not liking and not asking for it on my plate, I tried the sauerkraut and found that it paired unusually well with the knockwurst. The fries were hot, thin, and crispy, and there were plenty of them. The food is fine, but the main event of Steins is the drink, and Stein's offers a variety of both German and local (draught and bottled) beers. I got the Andechser Dopplebock Dunkel, which had a lovely malty caramelly flavor and went perfectly with the knock and kraut. The ambiance of the place also ranges from being on the festive side of upscale (normal dining hours) to sports bar (gametime), both of which are pleasant.

Outdoor and indoor seating available! They offer food and a nice selection of German beers and wine. I ordered the LaMarca Prosecco ($10) and it was excellent! The others ordered beer, forgot which ones, but they said it was good. Parking: a bit difficult! Metered street parking or if you're lucky, parking in the residential area, but not likely. Overall, a nice addition to clement st! Must try for all the beer lovers out there! :)

First time here. Smoked sausage...excellant. Fish and chips, crispy on the outside, juicy and soft on inside. Beer, good IPA and dark beer. Decent choices. Portions very good. Left full. I will be back. Only con....parking can be tough.

Steins. It's a German restaurant and sports bar with beer and German bistro like burgers and bratwurst. They have wienerschnitzel and other items that you would have to explore. I wanted to have a simple sample, so I got the bratwurst sandwich on roll with vegetable toppings like onions. It came with a load of fries and I needed more ketchup. On a street like Clement with so many Asian restaurants, maybe a Hawaiian, and a gastropub, is a more authentic German food place. Seating outdoors during covid. Beer is probably a must. review 1500 in san francisco

Great place to watch sports and to enjoy some good food and beer. I don't drink a lot, but I do like some beer and wine once in a while. The owner here is very nice and we always enjoy our meals here.

Delish rye sauerkraut with the brats dish. Great food and welcoming service, frequented by jovial locals to chat up at the long bar with lots of seating and open space around.

A serving of smoked bratwurst with mashed potatoes on the side. What a wonderful quick meal for lunch or dinner.

Visit as of 8/6/20019: I am finding it hard to believe I have not reviewed Steins either. Steins is awesome. It's all on friendly staff, delicious food and excellent service. Some of the food items I tried: - onion rings - smoked bratwursts - mashed potatoes It's all very delicious and it's German food that is worth the try and enjoying here in San Francisco. I will definitely coming back to try something else from the menu. There are flat screen televisions and it is broadcasting sports most of the time. If you are looking for a place to watch sports and enjoy delicious German food, look no further than Steins. Steins - one good place to be especially when looking to catch up with some long time friends and classmates. When it is one of those days you are seeking to watch sports and enjoy delicious German food, come to Steins. Overall, positive experience here. Because: - friendly staff - delicious food - excellent service

My spouse and I were super excited for the game as we both are huge WNBA fans. We get to the front and are barely greeted by two confused looking staff members. I tell them I have a reservation at 7 and requested a booth. To my surprise these two aren't listening and the gentleman says "booths are for reservations" I just said that. The lady with braces leads us to a table away from the main bar where the Valkyries are playing and the table is dirty. Finally she comes back after about 10 mins and at this point I'm ready to leave. We ask about the game and it's a bunch of head shaking and "unfortunately" conversation. Then as I say one more time I had a reservation booked 5 days ago she said oh let me check. WHAT??? please find better and more personable/attentive staff. I was much nicer than I should have been. I've been emotionally drained as I had attended a funeral that day and another 2 weeks prior and just wanted to brighten my day by watching my Valks play. Everyone doesn't have the patience for stupidity and subpar service. Please do better as I enjoy the atmosphere and coming together for women's sports.

Arrived on a Friday around 5pm with no wait... though it started filling up pretty quickly after we were seated so the timing worked in our favor. It's a bar and restaurant with mostly high top seating... dark, casual vibe with TVs showing games. Staff was friendly throughout. For $30 we each got a main, two sides, and dessert... a great way to get a real taste of what Hardwood has to offer. We got two orders: 1) smoked pulled pork with coleslaw and cornbread, and 2) mesquite BBQ chicken with curly fries and collard greens. Both came with a nilla wafer pudding for dessert. Everything was delicious and had that hometown BBQ feel. The portions were so generous, we even had leftovers! What made it even better was that we caught happy hour, which runs separately from restaurant week. For $10 you get a pint of beer or cider plus a well shot... hard to argue with that. Reasonably priced drinks on top of an already solid meal made this one of the better value outings I've had in SF. Already thinking about going back outside of restaurant week, and knowing that with its generous portions we can probably share next time.

The staff were also friendly, and since we got more people than expected, the owner even came in to help. Now the not-so-good. They had a surcharge for credit cards. I can understand this for a dive bar, but it seems like a full-service sports bar like this shouldn't have a credit card surcharge in 2025. The bigger issue was that the credit card surcharge was not disclosed either on the menu nor on the receipt. I actually had to ask the bartender about this; the subtotal and tax did not add up to the total, and the bartender explained that the missing amount was the credit card surcharge. This should be listed out to make it clear as well as disclosed in advance, as I might have opted to pay with cash. I ordered a chicken Caesar wrap with sweet potato fries (included in the price). Unfortunately, the fries were not hot when I received them, which is definitely a miss when it comes to fries. The wrap itself was just ok - I feel like it could have used more dressing. Some other people at our watch party had to wait an hour for their food, though I will cut them some slack since the watch party brought more people than expected and they were short-staffed. They also gave some free food to people that had to wait a long time, which was nice. Overall, a good spot to watch a game, but not a fan of the hidden credit card surcharge and the food has potential but has room for improvement.

We ordered 2 western burgers, 12 count bone-in wings (half bbq, half Hawaiian), and an appetizer of corn dogs, tater tots, bacon Mac & cheese bites, and mozzarella sticks. Later we also added boneless buffalo wings which were so tangy, well-seasoned, and HOT. The western bacon burgers were so delicious, crispy bacon, crispy onion rings, and some bomb.com bbq sauce. The wings were drowned in sauce (just how we like them) , the bbq was to die for and the Hawaiian had the perfect little kick of spice for our picky eaters. The Mac & cheese bites & mozzarella sticks were perfectly cheesed, with an amazing cheese pull on the mozzarella sticks. Along with the food, my boyfriend and I ordered some drinks.
