This was our first time eating out since the lockdown ended, and I have to say this is THE BEST restaurant food we've had since moving up here 3 years ago. Old Fashioned (whiskey sour) was perfect. Crab cake appetizer was hot, fresh and delicious. French onion soup was also delicious and was so hot the cheese on top was still bubbling. Perfect balance of flavors and not too salty. Husband had Wienerschnitzel Ala Holstein and said it was the best he's had up here. I had the hamburger, which was cooked perfectly (medium) and the onion rings were great! This place is beautiful, from the landscaping outside to the warm, log cabin style inside. The restaurant and bar were spotless, with all employees wearing gloves and masks. We made an early dinner reservation for Thursday to celebrate our anniversary. The building is updated, modern, and clean. The glass of wine and a brandy old fashion at the bar were delicious. We were then seated at our table. I had the ribeye with sautéed mushrooms and a baked potato. My H had the filet mignon with sautéed mushrooms and the truffle Mac and cheese. Absolutely delicious! This is hands down the best restaurant in the Northwoods. Every single thing there is absolutely delicious. From the appetizers to dinner to dessert. They will not disappoint! Nice atmosphere in a log cabin type setting. The tables were spaced out which was appreciated with the pandemic. Friendly and attentive service. My husband had the prime rib and said it was excellent. I had the ahi tuna and it was good but would have been better with less sesame seeds. There is no kids menu which was disappointing but the mac and cheese side dish without truffle oil was offered as a kid's option. Overall, good choice for a supper club in the area. read more

We enjoyed our dinner at William's Pine Gables Supper Club on my birthday. The crab cakes were excellent as was the creamed spinach. My husband liked the steak & we both had dessert ~ great presentation & mine was free. Excellent Service! read more

Had dinner here for the first time. We chose this restaurant because of their great reviews. So nice to go to a restaurant that paid so much attention to safety regarding Covid. Servers wore masks and gloves, tables were spread apart. The bartender made a an awesome bloody "gable". Everyone from the hostess to waitstaff was very friendly. My husband had the ribs which he said were excellent, I had the tenderloin tips which melted in your mouth! We Will definitely be back next time we are in the area!!! read more

Good fantastic. Bar staff great, Shaun the front house staff horrible. May not go back despite him. We were first customers in restaurant, no one else was even at the bar-but since we had a 4:45. Reservation we couldn't have our cheesecake at bar in advance because customers were behind us. What a joke-stoke you fabulous beard Shaun-we won't be back. We were a group of 17, they told us they couldn't accommodate us, as that many people would overwhelm the kitchen. We did try to make a reservation the night before, but they wouldn't take our reservation. They didn't seem to care when we left. This was a Saturday in March in Eagle River (not a busy season at all). We called Chef Renee's just down the road and they were thrilled to have us and took excellent care of our group. read more

My boyfriend and I came here and it is a beautiful building. It was a Friday night they were a normal amount of busy. We decided to sit at the bar until we found out that we couldn't eat there. That was fine with us so we moved to a table. My boyfriend had already purchased a drink at the bar so we asked for that to be put on our food tab. That wasn't allowed. Also fine so we paid for the one drink. We wanted to sit at a booth, but we were told we couldn't because the waitress that was in charge of the booth area was too busy. We got seated at a table within 5-10 mins. We ordered crab cakes and oysters as an app. The oysters were very good and our waitress was nice and checked on us often. We got the fish fry and soup and salad for dinner. It was not good at all. The fish was bland and even my Caesar salad was kind of gross. We didn't finish our meals. Wasn't the waitresses fault, but most likely won't be returning. An expensive place for some not very good food. read more

Delicious food for reasonable prices. Warm rolls and butter. The BBQ ribs, prime rib (Saturday special) and burgers are AMAZING! Entrees come with soup and salad. The soup was very good and the salad with buttermilk ranch was delicious. The bar is beautiful and the bartenders are super friendly. Homemade desserts change each day but we were too full from dinner to try one. Definitely put this on your list when you're in the Northwoods! We'll be back!! read more

We have waited years for this place to reopen. We had dinner here tonight, and will be glad to come back. The place has been beautifully designed and reimagined. Our drinks were good at the bar with personable staff who made our "extended"wait pleasant. The French onion soup ( a slight upgrade) was delicious, salads with house made dressings, and the best prime rib we have had for years. Our server Laurie was grace under pressure and kept a wonderful pace to our meal. read more

We have been waiting for Pine Gables to open and we're not disappointed. Food was good and so was service. My grilled fish was well seasoned and flaky, with just the right amount of charring. My friends both had chicken pesto wrap which they enjoyed. The newly renovated bar area was both cozy and grand. Glad Pine Gables is now open for lunch. Hope it opens for dinner in the summer! read more

We were finally able to try the Pine Gables last Friday. Reviews have been mixed, but ours is very positive. The remodel has created an excellent atmosphere. A very attractive bar, and a great dining area. A good selection of draft beer (Spaten Light) and cocktails. The food was excellent. We had pork chops and a shrimp based pasta. And contrary to some reviews, service was outstanding. We won't hesitate going back to Pine Gables next time we're in Eagle River. read more

Tonight, 9/20/18 is the second time in three weeks that we've tried to dine here. We had a party of 4 ready to enjoy a special night out. Imagine our surprise upon pulling into an empty parking lot and a darkened restaurant. The sign on the door read: "Closed Temporarily." Three weeks ago the same thing happened on a Friday night (they're only open 3 nights a week) but this time they were closed for a family emergency! My suggestion, dine at a supper club that takes their business seriously, like Eddie B's White Spruce. He's open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. That's where we're headed from now on. This is our new favorite dinning spot in Eagle River. The remodeled interior is very nice and preserved that up north charm. Their menu is terrific. It more variety than most places up north with many specialties. Everything from crotons, rolls, salad dressing to desert is home made. The tables are well spread out and the staff wear masks and gloves so little worry about Covid. The food was wonderful. My wife had the duck and it was excellent. It was Friday so I had the fish fry which was also one of the best in the north. The potato pancakes were crispy and soft in the middle. The fish was lightly breaded and tasted clean. I started with the crab cakes which I also through were wonderful. Lots of crab and not a lot of bread crumbs. We had the flourless chocolate cake for desert which again was excellent. The staff are also excellent. They are attentive, courteous, and very friendly. Due to social distancing reducing capacity I recommend a reservation to ensure you can get a table. read more

We finally stopped for a fish fry last Friday night, 2/28/20. Arrived about 4:50 PM, and had already decided to try the Haddock. Waitress seated us immediately. She was very cordial and knowledgeable. We sat in the main dining area, to the left as you walk in, little table by the window. I had the Proverb house Cabernet, and it was surprisingly smooth. Wife had Moscato. We both liked our wine very much. Rolls came in five minutes, and were 3 types - all very good and fresh. Haddock comes with potato pancakes and cold slaw. Fish was done perfectly - 3 pieces. I loved my dinner. Only possible negative comment was, pancakes were a touch salty, but not overly. All the negative comments about wait times and poor quality, I don't get it. The atmosphere is great, and the food is very good. We will definitely be back for a steak. Oh, and if you're a vegan, and you come on here complaining about lack of choices - paa-lease!! Spare me your ridiculous criticism. If you want vegan, go to a GD vegan restaurant, you idiot. BEAUTIFUL atmosphere!!! They've only been open for about two months, so I'll give them a break. Server just needs a bit more experience to get her timing down. She came to take our food order seconds after we were seated.... Completely skipped asking if we'd like drinks. Did not tell us that there would be upcharges for a particular soup or salad or potato option.... That was a $24 (for a party of 3) surprise when the bill came. And speaking of the bill, she asked my husband of he'd like the check before I was even finished with my meal. Ribs were delicious. My husband's prime rib looked great to me, although it was much less cooked than the way he ordered it. I got the salmon but was not wild about it..... Probably just MY taste and I should have ordered something else. In their favor...... Talked to the chef AND the owner..... Could not have been nicer and seemed genuinely interested in hearing how they could improve and make things right. We will go back.... After they've had a chance to iron out the wrinkles. read more
