You know the scene in the Hayley Mills Parent Trap where the girls camp invites the boys camp over for the dance? That is the exact vibe of this place. I did feel a little underdressed, actually, in a sweatshirt, because this is the kind of place to take your country club grandpa. But we were seated graciously at a gorgeous oak (?) bar while we waited for a table. Pro tip: a 'sweet' old fashioned, in Wisconsin, means a splash of lemon lime soda; 'sour' means a splash of grapefruit soda. At one point my husband asked the difference between a supper club and a restaurant. There's some history there which is fun to learn but these days I think the main thing is that this menu is never going to feel the need to keep up with trends. You will not see a chickpea on this menu. Instead you will see words like "fish fry" and "schnitzel" and "market price" (other similar dishes hover around $34). We had a basket of some of the best dinner rolls ever--fresh, hot onion bread, pumpernickel, rye. Then the French onion soup (piping hot) and the rahmschnitzel--veal breaded and topped with a white wine/mushroom/cream sauce. Buttery, garlicky broccolini. Everything so fresh and so hot. Two cocktails at the bar were $12.50 and two entrees were $63.50 before tip. Frank Sinatra playing throughout the evening because obviously. This restaurant is VERY clean and bright. Went for the German food. The Deb and Lon's Roulades with spatzle was excellent. The beef stroganoff was okay. Needed to be more creamy and more garlicky. Desserts were crème Brule and brownie sundaes and were very good. Without the stroganoff this would be a five star review. read more

I've driven past this place a ton of times, but never been until a few weeks ago. I stopped in with my wife and son for dinner, and I will be back again. Let me start by saying this is the cleanest restaurant I think I've ever been in. My wife described is as almost hospital clean. It's well decorated, and the bar area is beautiful. I would recommend getting a reservation. Our server was polite and efficient. We started with cheese curds, and they are in the top three cheese curds I've ever had. I'm not sure how they are seasoned, but they are delicious. The french onion soup was great as well. I had the rouladen, which I loved. The spaetzle was great as well, but the cabbage was a bit sour for me. My wife and son split the filet. I will definitely come back again. read more

I think they have finally got this place rolling. Check out their story on the menu. Bright. Open. Large space. Huge bar. Lots of TVs but no sound. Just nice dinner music. Grace was our friendly server. The menu is extensive so it's hard to pick. We had lightly breaded Fried Green Tomatoes to start. Their salads are lovely and the dressings are all made in house. The wife went with Panko Parmesan Walleye that was really crisp and delicious. The side of carrots were as delicious to eat as they were to look at. I ordered off the German section. Another wonderful meal at Pine Gables. I've now dined here several times and have had consistent good service and good food. I am trying to find the best prime rib in the Northwoods and Pine Gables is now #1 out of about 5 restaurants as I order it whenever it's on the menu. I do like the log cabin look also. read more

We made a reservation a month in advance online for 5 people. That was fine and easy to deal with. Upon our arrival, we were immediately sat. Once at our table our waitress promptly got our drinks. The reason for the review is the cheese curds were horrible. For $8.95 I better get a good portion. I got a small portion and they were super greasy. Our meal came 45 minutes later. I got a filet mignon which was okay but nothing to write home about. The baby back ribs were fall off the bone, but the sauce was trash. The salmon was good. We've been vacationing in the area for decades. This is the first time here because most times we never see it open. We made reservations and stopped in on a Saturday night. Not only is the outside of the building well taken care of but the inside is nicely done too. It was apparent they have many tables but didn't allow for an overrun of customers to servers. The old fashions were muddled and very good. The bar service was on top of things. After being seated we were taken care of from an experienced and attentive server. At no time we're we rushed or was another serving in our course of meals brought and cause a stack up. We had the stuffed mushrooms which were served in very large mushrooms and excellent. Then the baked onion soup was served very hot and was some of the best we've had in the North Woods. The salad dressing La are homemade and my blue cheese with crumble was simply outstanding! The main entrees were a mahi mahi , (2) kit cut prime ribs posted as 16oz but came in at like 30oz. Cuts. and a jagerschnitzle with homemade spatzle. All of the dinners were top notch! Everyone was very pleased. From there we shared a piece of cheesecake which was again some of the best I've ever had. On a cross country road trip, my husband and I were looking for a good place to grab dinner. I had been told that the supper clubs in Eagle River are unique and fun to check out, so we decided to find one. It was surprisingly hard to look up online. Due to COVID-19 many of them were closed. But at last, we found Williams's Pine Gables Supper Club. And what a find it was! The service was outstanding from beginning to end. Everything was done right from how things were placed in front of us to who was asked for their order first. At a restaurant of this level of class, it is refreshing to see high standards of service upheld. I was very impressed and tickled by how well we were treated. I ordered an old fashioned, as I was told they are kind of a "thing" at supper clubs. It was fabulous and incredibly well made. We were served bread before our meals came out, which was a nice touch and also delicious. Next out were the soups that came with our entrees. I opted to upgrade mine for a French onion soup. It was probably the best French onion soup I have ever had, though I am no aficionado. The cheese was melted evenly with a crispy layer on top. The bread and onions inside were soft without falling apart and the entire dish just warmed my soul. Roasted half duck was my entrée of choice, as I do not often get to indulge in my love of duck. The flavor was superb and the sauce it was served with only elevated the taste. I highly recommend the duck. My husband ordered the ribeye, which came with a béarnaise sauce. I am really picky about my steak and this was something to write home about. Not only was it deftly cooked and seasoned, but the sauce it came with was perhaps the most excellent thing I have put in my mouth alongside a steak. I am not sure how I lived 25 years without knowing the joy of béarnaise on steak. If you have never had this combo before, you absolutely must try it. We both decided that the next time we make steak at home, this sauce must accompany it. Overall, we had a great time here. The staff was all incredibly friendly, as seems typical in Wisconsin. They put a NBA game on one of the TV's when we asked and always ensured we were taken care of. On top of that, the food was superb. This is a great spot for a date night or any special occasion. From the bar to the table the service was excellent. The menu had great offerings and the food was delicious! it says reservations are recommended, but the restaurant wasn't overly busy. I think the idea of reservations in a town that doesn't have that option at many establishments may have scared people. Had a really great dinner here. Service was good. Someone else said it was dark but it was very well lit when we were there. We started out with the fried mushrooms and they were crispy and delicious. We had French onion soup which was great and clam chowder. The chowder was thin but still very tasty. We also had Caesar salad which was pretty standard but really liked the dressing. Had to ask for more dressing because there was barely any on the salad. For entrees we had one of the veal schnitzels and fish fry (haddock) and both were excellent. We got the kit Kat cheesecake to go and was awesome. This place has only been open 5 weeks but it's off to a great start. The place is newly remodelled and so clean. Its a log cabin with beautifully polished walls, ceilings and floors. The bar is beautiful. They don't take reservations and we waited over an hour after arriving about 5:45 on a Thursday night. Our bar bill for 7 adults drinking was only $48. After drinking in the Chicago area, that price was a real treat. We had a group of 10 and they sat us at two tables in the same general area. We started with the green pepper rings. I wasn't very enthusiast about ordering them, but they were delicious with the ranch sauce provided. Next was the french onion soup - really good. I had the ravioli with goat cheese. It was very tasty, but could have been a little warmer. My husband had the strip steak with broccolini and thought it was perfectly cooked. The prime rib and the chicken were also loved by our group. Everyone we encountered, the hostess, bartenders, servers were super nice. The owner stopped by our table for a chat and we learned a little history of the place. If you go, arrive early unless you don't mind the wait. Hopefully, they will figure out how to do reservations in the near future. read more

Reservations were a breeze got there a bit early had a drink at the bar while we waited for an our table. I had a brandy old fashioned sweet and my fiancé had a double tall Jameson sprite which was triple the cost of my old fashioned. We were seated in no time for dinner. I had the scallop risotto which was amazing and my fiancé had the filet mignon which was absolutely mouth watering. The whole place had a really nice ambiance. This was our last stop before reluctantly having to settle for MickeyD's (during this 4th of July 2021 holiday, restaurants in the area were either closing due to running out of food, lack of staff, had a 2 hour wait or declining to add anymore to the wait list.) Boy, did we get lucky in so many ways!We waited 1 hour but enjoyed the very pleasant decor, staff & surroundings, not to mention the gorgeous building & very colorful & well tended flower pots outside. My glass of house pinot noir was superb & hubby's choice beer on tap was cold & perfect. This place is THE Supper Club! I had the perfectly seasoned & grilled to my choice ribeye, the savory onion soup ( typically salty in other places). Not good, won't be back. The restaurant is very dark, only room that is light is the area where only large groups can be seated. We had an extremely poor waiter. He was very nice but does no realize how to be a goo waiter. The duck was really tough and the side was a very mushy, so called wild rice. He really rushed us. Took bread plates off table before the salad or main course came. Guess he thought that was our appetizer. Started taken plates off while two people were still eating. Put the check on table while people still eating. Very dissatisfied with restaurant, host, and food. Maybe they should hire an experienced manager. read more

Beautiful place but the hostess was rude giving a very poor first impression. She went on to yell at one of her coworkers not to walk away from her when she was talking. The place was not that busy, yet she was unable to accommodate a party of six. She did not offer a wait time at all, simply, sorry we cannot accommodate you, we already have a party of six waiting". This was at 6 pm on Saturday night in prime tourist season. We had a very enjoyable dinner. 5 stars for a beautifully renovated building inside and out. 5 stars for our good waitress (who was attending UW Lacrosse this fall). We tried two cocktails. The Gable was grapefruit vodka and Prosecco, and was delicious. The other was a gin concoction that I would not order again. Cobb salad was 4 stars. Chicken in it was deliciously grilled. French onion soup 5 stars. 1 star for the cheeseburger. Not a good cut of meat. Very disappointing. Homemade desserts are a must! We had turtle cheesecake and a panna cotta that was fruity pebbles themed. My adult son loved the panna cotta (not my thing) but the turtle cheesecake was outstanding!! Temporally closed sounds reasonable especially at this time of year. I will review it though because when the season starts up I think they will give it another go. Back in September I heard that they would be open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. If they open again perhaps they will start with these days to ease back into the season. Overall the food is good but nothing stands out as above average. The steaks are fine but the preparation is bland. Also no exciting or gourmet food items are offered on the menu. I enjoyed the bread and salad selection. It is good enough in that I would go back. The server I had was excellent and provided me with stellar service. I agree in that the menu is limited. I'm surprised a fish fry is not offered. The log lodge decor is beautiful. A good cocktail selection is featured. read more

This place was one helluva great find! The first thing you will notice from the outside is a meticulously-maintained exterior: Manicured lawn, Crisp paint, Clean parking lot.... Then you get inside to a perfectly-lit bar, new carpet, tables being completely sanitized between guests... The bar is beautiful, and the cocktails are hand-crafted right in front of you. The whole staff was masked, even though none of the guests were - seems very thoughtful to me, even if you might think it unnecessary. Service was friendly - the server knew the menu and presented the specials with professionalism. I'm not a huge prime rib fan, but this... THIS WAS THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. The only thing that wasn't a 10 out of 10 was that they were sold out of Rouladen - but that's no the restaurant's fault that we missed out! Cherry garnish is special as it is not your typical maraschino cherry- yum! On to dinner- fairly limited menu focusing on their specialties to include German fare, Steaks, sandwiches, appetizers, high end seafood & dessert. Some of the one-star reviews on here are bogus so I wouldn't pay attention to the overall rating until more come in. One of the one stars just says that it was closed when they tried to go? I'll admit, Pine Gables has had some problems getting opened over the years, but it appears to finally be opened for good. It's about as high class as it gets in the Northwoods and even then it's not like you can't wear your normal clothes. Overall, the building is extremely nice and clean and new. They have a decent bar with drink specials. Their drink prices are oddly really cheap and this wouldn't be a bad place just to grab a couple Old Fashioneds on a week night. The food is the expensive part with most things coming over $20. They have a good variety of options from burgers, fish and duck to schnitzel and a rack of lamb. It'd be nice if their fish fry was available every night, but unfortunately it's just Fridays. The mushroom bisque was great and most of the food at my table was enjoyed from the chicken carbonara to schnitzel to prime rib. I had the special 'Catch of the Day' Mahi Mahi and quickly realized it was the wrong route. We had two at our table and they were both overcooked. But this is Eagle River. I also found it weird that they put fries in baskets, similar to a burger joint or bar. It's almost like they want to be hip, while also being fancy. I suggest they just go straight fancy and live up to it because there aren't many places like this in the area. Pine Gables is something a little different for Eagle River and I'll probably be back at some point in the future. The drink prices are a nice bonus, but I'm not sure I'll get fish other than the fish fry. read more
