We participated with 6 or 7 other people, so it was a a good small group but we did enjoy chatting with the other attendees. Our instructor was fun, friendly, and knowledgeable and answered all our questions along the way. We started with a spring mix salad and for the entree, she made a veggie option and one with sausage. Both were delicious, but my favorite was definitely the meat version. I love that this was just an hour long and so a little more budget friendly and also if you call the shop and book directly, you can save the online booking fees so keep that in mind. I definitely plan to attend another class - these are such fun, interactive, and tasty events and they are helping me get into cooking more which has been a longtime goal of mine., The demo kitchen is in the back of the shop, the rest of the store is full retail with home and kitchen goods, decor, gifts, etc. You get 10% off your purchase after taking the demo class, so don't forget that. @azfitfoodfun

Look over their events calendar and you'll see they offer several cooking classes a week, including some which are specifically targeted towards children. With a roomy kitchen setup in the back of the store, there are every kind of class you can think of which allow you to try to cuisines, learn new techniques, and try new tools. Today's visit was a children's class, taught by Nissa and assisted by Jennifer (the website lists all the instructor profiles.) Nissa is an elementary school teacher and was FANTASTIC with keeping a group of kids engaged, learning, and feeling welcomed. The kids were given cookbooks, walked step-by-step through several recipes, and got to be hands-on through every step of the process. They learned how to safely use tools, how to mix the ingredients, and at the end of the class got to eat what they had made. My niece LOVED this experience, and as the adult in corner watching I was a bit jealous. Of course, the adults are not required to stay, and they told me some parents choose to go shop or get a treat in Thru-Way while the class happens, but we were also welcome to watch. Personally, I spent some time wandering the store and was enamored with such a massive selection of kitchen tools and home goods. I ended up buying a few of the tools they used during the class to bring home (like a really nifty tool for mincing garlic, or a strawberry huller!). I'm planning to come back and try one of these classes for adults in the future. They told me that some of the adult classes are more observation while some are hands-on, so check the calendar, but I fully recommend checking the classes out for a fun activity. And if education isn't your thing, swing by one afternoon while you're shopping to check out the very broad inventory offerings in the store. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful!

First the designer JJ, gave me some great pros & cons to the color pallet and materials that i had chosen. I greatly appreciated his expertise. She was strategic in doing whatever was needed to complete the job with haste and a smile. These people worked so well together to give me a phenomenal experience. They honestly acted as if they loved what they were doing and cared about the customers experience. This is exemplary in "How To Get Your Customer To Return". Thank you all!!

We decided to go by Floor and Decor and see if we could get some ideas. We were a bit overwhelmed by the selection to be honest, which is a good thing, we just need to narrow down what it is we want a little more maybe, and then try again. It's amazing how many options they offer for wall, floor, counters, and so much more. They have large displays of each product to give you a good idea of how a large area will look, but it was not always clear where the product was on the shelves for each display, and unfortunately finding an employee to assist is a big challenge. If you do find one, they will probably not know the answer, and just make one up. We asked one employee where a set of tiles were and they said they were discontinued, and no longer had any...but then we found a whole section of them an aisle over, very discouraging. In the end we bought a few options and have brought them home to see them in the space. They offer a 90 day return, so once we nail it down, we'll be able to return options we don't want, which is nice. We enjoyed the variety, selection and decent pricing, it's just the lack of helpful employees/staff that making shopping there less than perfect.

What's even more scary is that I was considered the handy one in my family. I knew how to change a light bulb and water a plant and put together a model with glue and paint. That's how low the bar was set in my family! My grandfather on the other hand contradicted the stereotype. He was an incredibly successful plumber and incredibly handy. I even remember when I was a young starving actor in New York living on the Upper East side, he installed a shower in my bathtub which sat in the middle of my kitchen! He then installed a shower curtain holder so I could have privacy showering while my roommate was sitting right there having coffee with his girlfriend. You cannot make this stuff up! Which brings me to Lowe's. I like Lowe's. Anything I can possibly want for my home is there. I also appreciate that there are many locations in that there have been times when I wanted something and it was not in that store and they were very accommodating to send me to another store and put it on hold or get it sent to their store for me. Plenty of variety, plenty to choose from and thank God for the people that work there because I have absolutely no clue! When I walk into Lowe's I feel like I am a bull in a China shop. I wish I had the talent to build a table or retile my floor or paint my kitchen a new color or replace the ceiling fan or build a rose garden. Reality is, I'm better off working hard and earning a little extra money and paying some talented person to do that for me. I take my hat off to the men and women that file into Lowe's and leave with all these raw materials to build something beautiful with their own hands. That amazes me! I may not be the handiest guy in the world, but I appreciate a store well stocked with good staff and is understanding of someone like me with little knowledge and little ability! I thrive in the garden department and panic at the sight of a pipe or a piece of lumber. But, when all is said and done.... I really like like Lowe's!

Hard to find those anymore unless you head down Bessemer Avenue to McKnight Hardware. That place is Mom and Pop through and through. I have been going to McKnight Hardware since I moved to this neighborhood over 20 years ago and the staff rarely changes. The store is incredibly convenient and although I've never priced compared them with a Walmart or Home Depot, I'm happy to pay the price and support the OG hardware store in the area. Over the years I have seen many young men and women who started as teen helpers become cashiers and managers. The place has a family feel and the staff always knows exactly what they are talking about! It's also my go-to when I need to make some keys! I can always count on McKnight for whatever my needs are. Whether I'm looking for bird seed or glue or paint or a nail, they have it! I recently bought my weed whacker from them and I love how they are right down the street from me if I need it to be serviced, which I recently did. They used to have a pretty extensive garden nursery but it has slowed down over the years. In the early years I was even able to buy some lily pads! Lol But all of your other departments are well stocked and well priced and it's so nice to have a staff person that knows what they are talking about! There is plenty of parking right up front and it's conveniently located on Bessemer Avenue. I encourage you to patronize this place. It breaks my heart to see so many wonderful stores like McKnight Hardware shut down and give way to the big chains. Why can't this location have self-checkout like so many others? If they can make it work in a horrible place like Chicago, then it can work in Greensboro. But the worst is the checker who has her light off and the "closed" sign on the belt despite a deep line at the next lane, then checks out the idiot who ignores all of this and unloads her cart anway, while the rest of us were waiting in the one line that was open.
