It is the day before Thanksgiving and as a last minute idea I decided to smoke my turkey using the Traeger turkey and brine pellet combo. I looked online and saw Ace carried the product and had it in stock so I placed the order online. After an hour or so I had not heard anything about being able to pick it up so I tried to call the store 19 times! I wish I was being sarcastic, but I am being literal. I got no answer any of the 19 calls, I called the corporate number to check on my order. They confirmed that the store was in fact OPEN, so there was no reason for them not to be answering. I was also ensured that my order was ready for pick up. I drove one hour to the location only to find out that the store closed at 1pm. Before I placed the order I checking google and their Facebook page to make sure they were open, which they were supposed to be. Apparently I was not the only one surprised by this because there were six other people that were attempting to enter the store while I was trying to understand this stupidity of this circumstance. I decided to call the corporate number to cancel my order and they were just as confused as be about them being closed. Apparently they also had no knowledge that one of their stores was closing early. They told me I should file a complaint. I typically would not complain about something like this because I understand that employees need time with their families for holidays, but to not make any update of this information in a location that a customer would look is completely ridiculous from a business point of view. If you are looking for any products they carry I can assure you there are more dependable and reliable places not too far from here. Do yourself a favor and just go somewhere else.

My first contact with this store was for a warranty repair on my Craftsman riding mower. I had to…read morepay the fee to have them pick it up and return it, but otherwise the repair was free. What I didn't like with that interaction was the fact that they returned my mower without letting me know they had returned it. Luckily, I have a Ring doorbell. I was notified of motion in my driveway. I went outside to look, and my mower was just sitting in my driveway in front of my garage door. They did not call me to tell me that they were on the way, and they did not ring my doorbell to let me know they were there to drop the mower off. I happened to be off work that day, and was able to move my mower inside my garage as soon as I knew it was there. If I hadn't been home, it would have sat there all day with the key in the ignition for anybody to steal. I'm just glad it wasn't raining out. My second contact with this store went much better. I needed to make a copy of my house key. Places like Lowe's and Walmart have moved to the key cutting kiosk, instead of having an employee do it. I prefer to have the hands on approach. I went to the back counter and handed the guy my key. He cut it for me, and I went to pay at the front register. I was happy to hear that it was only $3. Those kiosks charge about twice that much.

But as someone who frequents Lowes more often, this is a very large store with a good variety of things - although most of it is mid-tier quality. This store strikes a bit of a balance between being aimed at contractors/pros and the homeowner so that's good. I dislike the locations that focus too heavily on one or the other because I very often find myself needing something from both categories on most visits.

Also, like their competitors, this store is very hit or miss, and hard to find an employee to help should you have any questions, or need anything cut down to fit in your car. We Can Help."...those days are long gone, and if you're able to actually track someone down on the floor, generally, they have no idea about the product being sold in their department. Bottom line, it's a good location to go to for convenience of hitting other errands in the area, but only if you know what you need, and don't need any assistance.

I work at a local non-profit that helps Veterans. We had called and they had generators. We were…read moretrying to secure 2 for the upcoming winter storm. This was on Friday, January23, 2026. I got to the store around 1:00pm. There was a generator on the floor by itself and no one was around it. So I got it and got 2 gas cans. I heard an employee told another employee to tell me that the generator was not for sale. So, the other employee came to me and said so. I looked confused but I left it. I went to the parking lot and called our office to let them know there were no more generators and they said we had called and was wondering if they can do anything for us since we work with Veterans. So, I returned and ask for a manager. I was told that the employee that told me the generator was not for sale was a manager. So I went back to her and told her about our organization and that we work with Veterans. I let her know that the VA wanted to make sure we had a contingency should power go out. She said there was nothing she could do for us. At that time I noticed a couple employees came to take the generator to the back. I asked her if she know of any other stores of their's had them and she said she did not know. If found it odd that she did not look. Anyway, i went back to the parking lot and looked up othe Northern Tool stores. I decided to cal the one in Kannapolis. Elizabeth answered the phone. I told her the same story about our organization and why we need a generator. She said they did not have any generators but if I can get there she can get it ordered and I can pick it up at their distribution center. I drove from the Colfax store to Kannapolis and Elizabeth and her team was waiting for me. Because of their help and them understanding the need for what we do, I ordered 2 generators and was able to pick them up. That is what care and customer service is at the Kannapolis store.
