Talk about great food and service. I came here with my wife for our third anniversary and to also celebrate becoming homeowners in Morgan Hill. Given the difficulties for restaurants during COVID-19, Willard Hicks had a great patio setup. We were still able to book a reservation online and got a nice table close to heat lamps spread throughout the dining area. I'd say our server, Dominick, was the highlight of the evening. He was such a kind and attentive guy who made sure we laughed and enjoyed the evening. I noticed him handling the bar and also making sure the patrons were taken care of in the dining area. My wife ordered the sticky chicken and I ordered the steak burger - the best burger I've ever had in my life. The staff can make a great martini and they also have a nice whiskey/scotch selection. Coming to a place like this was an oasis from all the stresses folks deal with these days - I'd gladly come back again for Dominick's service and the food. read more

Came for a couple girls nights prior to 2020 shut downs and remember it being good. 4 years later finally came back for our anniversary dinner. It wasn't very busy but service was still a little slow. Wine and cocktail were good. We wanted the baked Brie appetizer and they unfortunately were out. I ordered the burger and husband ordered a steak. My burger came out and was very good. The fries were dry and had a spicy seasoning that I wasn't a fan of but that's personal preference. Unfortunately they brought my husband the wrong steak and I got halfway through my food before his correct steak came out. His steak was cooked right but way too salty. We wanted the Oreo cheesecake which they ended up not having either. They made it up by bringing us an anniversary cookie and ice cream. We are reasonable and understand things happen and places are doing their best short staffed. But just don't come expecting perfection and for them to have everything on the menu. So when we arrived there was a line out the door waiting on a hostess stand with no hostess. When she finally arrived there was no rush or urgency. She sat us a uncomfortable table. It was so uncomfortable we got up to sit at the bar which at least had cushioned seats. Full bar. One super slow bartender who didn't acknowledge us or make a single drink in the 15 minutes we watched him run around looking for things. I just don't get it. Why would you not want to serve as many of your highest profit item as possible. Unbelievable. So we waited 15 minutes for acknowledgment then split across the street to Ladera. Didn't even eat here. I love this place....or I should say I used to love this place. I've been here about 6 times in the last 4 months. The food is inconsistent, you never know what you are going to get or how it is going to taste. Came for lunch one day. There were only 2 other people in the entire restaurant. We both ordered salads with our steaks medium rare....45 minutes later after asking multiple times where our food was, our waitress brings our food. My mom's steak was well done. I only get an hour for lunch, we didn't have time to wait for them to remake it. Service is ok. Not great. Go somewhere else, this is an expensive meal. read more

The management of this restaurant is in need of customer service training. We waited over an hour and a half for our reservation, which was the only reservation on the books for the remainder of the night. The hostess staff appeared overwhelmed and had little or no training in how to handle this situation. The manager did not seem aware, engaged, or in charge. When confronted with the facts, instead of empathy, responsibility, or action she became defensive and frustrated. Never have I ever had to send back food to the Kitchen. I ordered a Medium Rare Filet Mignon, which should be a staple for any steakhouse. The first one came out as medium well, with almost no pink. We had one other Filet Mignon ordered at our table in the same way and it came out perfectly. We sent mine back. They then decided to bring me a new steak 25 minutes later. I cut it open and too my surprise, the center was still cold to the touch. We sent it back. The third time they brought it back, the waiter said jokingly "third times a charm," which was distasteful. It was hardly red at this point, but we gave up on sending it back. The rest of my party had already finished eating at this point. Maybe it's worth the gamble, maybe it's not. This was our first date night out after a year! We had a great experience and felt safe eating indoors. There were only about 6 tables with 2 groups inside. Everyone else was outdoors. We experienced great service from our bartender/server who's name is Neil. He made awesome recommendations and makes a mean dirty martini! Food was delicious as always. The owner graciously offered a meal on the house after my first steak was delivered burnt. I got the signature peppercorn New York strip and it was grilled perfectly to a juicy medium. The sauce was a little on the sweet side for my taste, but the onion strings were a nice touch. Next time I might try either the spicy steak sauce or horseradish aioli instead. Ordered a side of brussels sprouts which were sauteed with brown sugar, so also a bit sweet for my taste. I'm more of a spicy, savory, and tangy person. Overall, great food and hospitality. Wow the food was terrible lol. Mac and cheese was like salty pasta. Cheesy pesto bread was just a giant big brick of bread with some cheese and balsamic sprinkled on it, and microwaved. Sautéed mushrooms were fine but it's not hard to mess up mushrooms. Literally everything tasted terrible. Mashed potatoes were like those microwaved packet potatoes. Underwhelmed & disappointed. Arrived at 2:03 today. 5 tables with guests outside and 2 sets of guests at the bar inside. Appeared as if the bar tender was also the host as well as the server. Which all panned out to be true. My guess is that the management didn't think through a national holiday causing more people to arrive during non-traditional lunch hours? I've been in situations in my life where I actually had to wait even longer than today but then didn't mind the wait due to the phenomenal quality of food. Not so much here unfortunately. The French onion soup which arrived at 2:53 (50 minutes after we sat) what is the least favorite French onion soup I've never had tasted such an unusual one as this - possibly due to the enormous salt content most likely from a large quantity container in order to preserve its freshness. It also arrived along with the Caesar salad which was wilted accompanied by two large very dry very hard to bite croutons. The dressing was not present almost as if they lightly sprayed it on one leaf only and didn't bother the other two leaves. See photo. Unfortunately it was not like I can get anyone's attention nor did I want to as hungry as I was to wait to actually ask for the dressing that was forgotten on the salad. When Willard Hicks opened in Campbell approximately 6 years ago and we're charging $15 for a hamburger I thought it must be a pretty amazing hamburger, but here today in Morgan Hill $22?! Made a reservation and showed up early to be seated. Upon arrival my reservation was nowhere to be found even though I showed the email confirmation from OpenTable. All of the tables in the front were open and the hostess rudely looked confused as to why I had a reservation. Then she brought over a manager who said they only had two servers and no available tables because the staff "called out". So intend of finding a solution and honoring my reservation I was told that I couldn't be helped. we attended tonight for dinner. The experience was very unpleasant, we felt very forgotten but the place was very dead. we had to physical get up and search for a steak knife for the $55 NY steak. My sticky chicken was advertised as "fried" but arrived soggy. By the end of the almost 2 hour dinner, we were still unsure who our server actually was until the check was dropped. Being that it was really slow, how did they not see this dirty glass. We came in around 1pm. There was on couple on the patio. The Blackberry Filet Mignon was perfectly cooked and garnished with roast grapes. But the killer was the cornbread.... All I can say is if you go here, it's a MUST order! Would I comeback you ask? We have been to Willard hicks a few times and sadly, I'm not sure if we'll come back. The food has always been ok, but this time the service was absolutely horrible. I don't normally write reviews but I just felt like someone should know. We came on a Sunday night- wasn't very busy- and it took almost an hour for our food to arrive. What made it worse was that the server was inattentive and borderline rude. He seemed bothered just to be serving us. Really impatient and unfriendly. We were a larger party, 6 adults and 5 kids, so I could understand if we were being too much for him that he would feel that way but we weren't. He was bothered the minute we started ordering drinks. Maybe he was having a bad day? But it still doesn't feel great being served by someone that doesn't even bother to greet you. It honestly felt like we were being served by someone that typically works back of house. After 30 minutes, I asked if he had an eta on our food and he just said "I don't want to promise you anything. We're really busy". Normally if a restaurant is busy, the server will check in with the table and let them know- especially if it's a steak house. He didn't bother to say anything and that's probably because.. it wasn't busy. Upon arrival we were seated immediately, our waiter Neal was amazing! He suggested the coconut shrimp as the starter, which was divine, Thanks Neal!!! We ordered the blackberry filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly, 2 thumbs up! We also had the stacked steak fries and brussel sprouts, those are our favorite we always get them because they are a must have! After two months of SIP it was amazing to have such a great experience to sit out side, have great drinks and food with friends! Came in to an empty restaurant at 5:30 on Sunday night. Had a wonderful appetizer of coconut shrimp. Then after the appetizer, the waitress asked about the entrees. I ordered a steak and my wife ordered the swordfish, both dishes were on the regular menu. We asked for bread and she told us there is no house bread and you must order the pesto cheese bread. Which we did. After waiting for 15 minutes she came out and told us that there was no swordfish. They ran out over the weekend. We asked why she didn't know there was no fish when we ordered and she copped an attitude that it's not her fault that the kitchen had no fish. We told her that it is her responsibility to ask the manager what food is unavailable that night. Again, total attitude and disregard for responsibility. We paid for the appy and left. They had tons and tons of outdoor seating available and the guy at the front desk said sorry, all outside is full and we have no seats available, yet there were plenty. Nothing worth the outrageous prices they charge - $100 for a steak? It was no better than a steak you buy at Safeway. The entire dinner process took over 2 hours due to the outrageously slow service here. Don't buy into the hype with this place, just do yourself a huge favor and SKIP and go elsewhere. There are many other places in MH to go to that will treat you better and much cheaper and better food. Had dinner last night to celebrate a graduation. The manager Breanna seated us at a wonderful outdoor table with a fire feature to keep us warm. Our server Liz was super friendly and attentive throughout the night, and checked on us regularly. For appetizers, we tried both the cheesy pesto bread and the cornbread, and we loved them both. All of the entrees were wonderful as well, ranging from steak to swordfish to risotto to tacos to mac & cheese. No misses at all! We'll definitely be back again. Amazing food and service! read more

I could barely hear myself think over the loud music that wasn't aligned with the vibe of the restaurant. The restaurant is rustic, dimly lit and looks like a great date night spot. But the music that played in the background was R&B and Earth Wind and Fire vibes. Rustic decor calls for easygoing country music in my opinion, maybe some soft rock. The staff was super friendly, drinks and food were good--but some glaring mistakes were made in terms of timeliness and cleanliness. The bar top we were eating on wasn't wiped down, so as I enjoyed my salad I was surrounded by crumbs. The drink I had finished before my meal came was still empty in front of me. Not what you would expect from a place that is $50 and up for an entree. We had to ask for silverware and napkins when the meal came, the staff was not attentive and our drinks sat in front of us empty after not one but two rounds...nothing like being surrounded by dirty glassware when you're paying upwards of 14 dollars a drink! Our plates were empty in front of us for 15 minutes before we had to ask for the check. And then we waited 15 more minutes to get rung out. Super frustrating. I would perhaps try this place again but the staff needs proper training and the management needs to step in and make some changes because the service was just too disorganized. read more

Steaks are terrible quality - which is the reason you go to a steakhouse. Drinks are fine if you like Gin (half of their drink menu). The Mac and Cheese and pesto bread were delicious (but who can really get Mac and cheese or bread wrong). I had the swordfish which was fine (not phenomenal but no complaints). I was really looking forward to the Brussels but those were terrible too. My hunch is that it's a food quality issue, if they were to source better meats and vegetables I think their cooks would serve great food. I took my bf here for his bday since he loves a good steak and I felt horrible when he couldn't even pretend his steak was good. I've been here twice now with Morgan Hill location. The very first time I went was when they first opened probably three months after they opened. I went in on Monday dinner and the place needed a reservation. I sat at the bar with my friend and had wines because we were not hungry after a late lunch. The wine list was lovely. I am an expertise in wines in general that thought the wine list could be interesting and attractive. The second time I went, I went with friends who visited from overseas and ordered these two items with wines as well. Like I mentioned before, the wines are lovely as always. The food was fine. This opinion is coming from all three of us. My friends even thought American dish that was made in Korea was better than the ones here. So I guess this shows the food was not too fabulous. However, I thought the food was good. Maybe not worth the price though. The portion is quite a lot in my opinion. I just thought the quality and flavor was not quite right with the prices given. (I don't care really about a portion at all) As long as the food is good, I would afford for anything. Anyways, I want to try some other main dishes and perhaps update this review (hopefully better).
