Wildflower has a unique slicing and serving: Each slice is 1/4 pound. It is perfectly done, plastic fork tender with a rich smoke ring around moist meat. Sides of potato salad and slaw were fantastic. But I love horseradish and pickling spices which give both some strong, unique flavors. Definitely not your Walmart deli blandness. Not the best or worst BBQ I've ever had. Saturday lunch. Expectations were high based on reviews that gave me a craving for barbeque. We got a brisket sandwich ($16) and a pork sandwich ($15). Both had slightly dry, slightly small buns (though right size buns for the modest portion of slightly dry meat). Meat might be slightly drier than expected because you can add lots of your own sauces from their squeeze bottles of homemade sauces. We did like that concept of multiple homemade sauces -- though the sauces themselves were hit-or-miss. Sandwiches came with a good-size serving of curly fries loaded with salt and pepper - see photo. It looked like repeat customers were ordering their fries without salt and pepper so they could season to their own taste. Sandwiches also came with Cole slaw and 3-4 homemade pickle slices. Cole slaw was nice - not mayo-based, more of a vinegar-based sauce perhaps with cracked mustard seed? Pickles were excellent - sweetish bread-and-butter-style with some onions in the juice that had a crisp-spicy flavor. I really liked the pickles. You bus your own table at the end and might have to wet down some napkins to wipe your table off before you sit down. Since the best part of lunch was the pickle garnish, it means we won't be back. Great location to get to right off of the Interstate. Modest farm country decor welcomes you in. Service was friendly and timely. Food was served warm and good presentation. I found the fries rustic and a bit tough to eat texture wise. Good flavor powder sprinkled on. The meat was perfectly done and the 3 different sauces let the meat hit a bit different each bite. The new Wildflower BBQ is an amazing eating experience and just the sort of thing Summit County has needed for years. Run by longtime Summit locals with a diverse culinary background, but including Michelin fine dining, this is cozy, family run locals establishment that serves high quality, elevated BBQ at an affordable price point. My family got a mix of the meat platter - we chose ribs, pork belly and brisket - with their special recipe b&b pickles and black eyed pea stew, the fried green tomato sammy with trout (heavenly), and my kiddo got a smoked hot dog (I have literally never seen him inhale an item of food so quickly). The smoked meats rightly took center stage in our order and the ribs, particularly, impressed with their flavor and truly fall off the bone tenderness. I'll note here that the house made BBQ sauces (too many for me to recall all the names of) were all uniformly high quality and I recommend trying them all. the kiddos got "Abel's cookies" as part of their kids meal but they were big enough for us all to share a bit. Delicious! I will definitely be back and will definitely take advantage of the option they have to buy their smoked meats and sides by the pound for some future ski trips and office meetings, for sure. I have been in a few times now for lunch, and tried a couple of the breakfast burritos they started doing. I have been waiting to review until I have tried a good range of options they have. I have yet to be disappointed! The owners are super friendly, and very helpful. They are always happy to talk about the menu, make recommendations and help with any special requests as best they can. My favorites for a quick lunch are the salad with brisket added, or the bowl with pork belly. All the meats are just melt in your mouth delicious. The best value is definitely the pulled pork sandwich, for $14 you get a really filling sandwich of super fresh, juicy pulled pork, tons of curly fries (I can never eat them all), coleslaw and pickles (which I pile onto my sandwich). If I'm feeling a little more hungry, I'd try a couple of meats and sides. The mac and cheese, collard greens and chili have been the standouts so far. There are also platter options to share for two, or for a big group or family. I almost forgot about the burritos! They. Are. Huge. I eat half and stick the the other half in my pocket for the chairlift or save it for later. The pork belly is my favorite, with the garlic-vinegar sauce added. We went in at around 10 in the morning on our way to Breckenridge. I have a kiddo who has ARFID and one thing he can eat is un sauced bbq. Unfortunately, the only thing this restaurant offered that early were premade breakfast burritos- which is a no go for my boy. The sampler included 3 meats (brisket, ribs, pulled pork), 3 small sides, cornbread, and a slice of cake. All of the meats were excellent. This is an incredible find! We were visiting Frisco for the day and asked a local for recommendations for a great BBQ lunch place. When Wildflower was recommended with two thumbs-up, we knew we needed to try it. SO glad we did!. The food is outstanding (we had the brisket and pulled pork); the coleslaw side, which is standard with the sandwich, is crisp, fresh and not too sweet or saucy. Curly fries are also a standard side with the sandwich and were crisp and seasoned just right. The ambiance was perfect - wildflower prints are hung beautifully on every wall, and the husband/wife owners are really friendly and care about their customers. The prices were very fare and we will definitely be visiting Wildflower again in the future! read more
