    Gyro!!! Amazing!!!
    Damien R.

I saw the reviews of this places as we were getting a slice at Luigi's. The moment I saw this from the street I had to give it a try!! It does not disappoint. I'm telling you grab yourself one of these hot sandwiches!! We had the Philly and the Gyro their number 1&2 sandwiches they sell. Going back tomorrow!!!

    Meatball sub
    Michael X.

2 years ago, I was in Breckenridge ordered takeout from a small random shack and had one the best meatball subs I've had in a long time - and I can finally say that I can put a name to the restaurant now! I paid multiple vists to Above The Blue during my week long stay in Breckenridge, mostly around lunchtime. I'm surprised that there isn't more people lining up to try this place out! Above The Blue is it's own unassuming shack located right next to the downtown Breckenridge area - you can enjoy your food at their outdoor tables set up around the shack and take in the creek side scenery as you do. You can also just take your order when you are done, the shack was also designed for skiers/hikers to grab and go with their food. Service is fast, you place your order and you usually only have to wait 5-10 minutes for your food. I got a couple of options from this place, which I'll review down below: Meatball Sub ($13): If you are looking for a very solid and absolutely delicious meatball sub, I would wholeheartedly recommend this one! I think this is one of the best meatball subs I've had so far in CO. You receive: 3 heaping meatballs with broiled cheese over it. The meatballs themselves, tender as can be and extremely moist and juicy. The marinara sauce that goes over the meatballs has a bit of spice and gives the extra bitey flavor dimension that takes it to the upper levels. The bread is toasted and has a pleasing crispiness to it. I've had my fair share of this particular sub while skiing in Breck and it slaps. Walking Taco ($8): As novel and tasty as the walking taco may be, I would say skip this option unless you are feeling taco meat, sour cream, and cheese in a chip bag. I think that $8 is pretty steep considering the ingredients of this selection, but it would definitely be the perfect drunk food. I haven't tried the gyro sandwich from this restaurant, but based on the other reviews of it, I'm sure it would be great. I would definitely like to come back again to try the other sandwich options (4.5 stars!)

Great stop to pick up to go food! I would definitely come back and try there other dishes but the gyro is definitely the way to go :)

Has a picnic table and patio furniture for seating. Quick service! I really enjoyed the beef Philly cheesesteak! Great flavor, and they pack a lot in the sandwich so you feel better about paying Breck prices. My husband also really enjoyed the meatball sub, even though it was a little difficult to eat. Would definitely come back next time we're in the area!

In Breck for a few days and tired of spending $100+ every time you grab a bite to eat? Well this is your place. Great food, big portions, and fast service. Located right in the middle of town convenient to everything. Would definitely come back next time I'm in town.

    Pulled pork sandwich

The food is pretty tasty and the portions are significant. We went to this restaurant because of the high ratings. The menu on the website still showed pre-pandemic pricing, so we were shocked when the price was nearly double. No complaints about the food, just the cost, average $16-18 for a sandwich.

Above the Blue's cheesesteak with added jalapeños saved my life. Went home and had an ethereal experience with their cheesesteak

    Amazing gyro!

Above the blue totally saved the day for us! Had a flight delay in Houston, then our shuttle for our rental car took about 30 minutes so we were about two hours Behind. We should have been in Breckenridge by 8 we didn't get here till 10PM! Almost alll the food places were closed. Empire burger was supposed to be open. They were closed. Got really lucky and talked to a guy in a parking lot at empire. He suggested above the blue and let me tell you I am so happy they did! My son and I were pretty hungry so we got a gyro each and the frito pie to split. We both said that was the best frito pie have ever eaten. Also the gyro was simply amazing. The pita bread was so fresh and tasty! The meat was high quality and very tasty. Probably the best gyro I have ever eaten. They really saved the day by being open late. we would have to went to bed hungry. Once again thanks again for amazing food. Also the guy that was working there was extremely nice too!

This place is awesome. An absolute must visit. The food is fresh and the owner is super friendly. He gets his gyro meat from Chicago, cooked everything super fast (we had 3 orders), and he cut the meat without even looking. I will def come back. Very satisfied with my experience :)

Walking in on a cold February day, the mood and ambiance were warm and inviting. The downstairs bar was lively, and the wood ceiling and decor definitely gave off a classic aged lodge feel. We were seated upstairs per our Yelp reservations. A collection of canteens hung on the wall, which sparked a fun conversation and history lesson for my twins. Since they're part of the CamelBak and Stanley cup generation, they hadn't seen anything like them before. My son was impressed by the size of the kids' burger, and the fries were great. The rest of us had the NY Strip. I'd say it was good, but not great--though I did appreciate the blackened seasoning and the chimichurri. The grilled asparagus, however, was simply fantastic. The showstopper was the upside-down apple pie with what seemed to be homemade vanilla ice cream. Both were generous portions and kindly comped by our server for my birthday. I ordered my standard Ranch Water, though it unfortunately didn't come in their traditional canteen cup. Overall, it's a great spot. I look forward to visiting again on our next trip to Colorado.

When we arrived, there was a medical situation with a guest, and an ambulance came to assist. Obviously, that takes priority, and we were patient and understanding. However, after the situation cleared, we continued waiting another 20 minutes. During that time, several groups who arrived after us were seated first. When I politely asked the host about our status, I was told those groups were seated because they were smaller parties. That didn't appear to be accurate, and when I mentioned that, the response quickly became rude and dismissive. At that point, we decided there was no reason to stay and left for dinner elsewhere. The next day, we ate at Tin Plate Pizza--fantastic food and excellent service. Ironically, while walking past Bird and Cow afterward, we noticed their kitchen area through an open back door, and it did not appear clean or well-kept. In hindsight, we're glad things worked out the way they did--but overall, this was a frustrating experience driven by inaccurate wait times and poor customer service.

The food is slightly above average; the real attraction is the great selection of beers on tap. We can say that the Brewer's Mac n Cheese, Rainbow Trout, and Wild Game Meatloaf are worth ordering - well crafted, generous portions, and good tucker after a day of skiing. The burgers are standard pub fare (it's too bad they dropped the elk burger which was a definite winner!) BB has a phenomenal assemblage of beers which cater to a variety of palates. Our go-to's are the Avalanche Amber and Juice Drop Hazy but you really can't go wrong with their rotation. We do want to credit the staff. They really do make the BB experience what it is - they maintain great attitudes and deliver exceptional service while taking care of a full house of thirsty apres skiers. BB has a well-worn atmosphere and could probably use a refresh but is otherwise an inviting environment because of the care and consideration of the servers and bartenders. Any visit to Breck is incomplete without hoisting a few at BB!

Was greeted promptly upon entering and directed to the bar to place a to go order. I had limited time because had to catch a bus. The ambiance was fun with TV screens around to watch various sporting events. I was watching A&M get beat by Miami while waiting for my food order to be prepared. They have the silver brewery tanks where they brew their beer on site behind the bar area. They had a bunch of unique brews but I am not a beer person. I found a seat at the bar and the bartender came to take my order. I mentioned that I was on a time crunch with having to catch the bus in approximately 35 minutes and just wanted to check to see if the kitchen could accommodate my schedule. I was a bit taken aback when he responded that he couldn't guarantee anything and the electricity could go out.... So I was going to pass on ordering, but then he said we better get my order in then. So I put in an order for fish and chips. Then he said the kitchen should not have a problem accommodating that time window. He brought me some water and I enjoyed watching the football game while I waited for my to-go order. The food was ready in plenty of time for me to make it to the bus stop. It was packed nicely and came in a paper bag. I was able to enjoy it at the bus stop. Fish and Chips with Avalanche Ale battered white fish, fries, tartar. The fish has a nice batter but was a bit bland and could have used more salt or other seasoning. It really needed the tartar sauce to complete the flavor profile. The fries were light and crispy. Overall the food was what I would expect from a brewery. Nice place to go in breck to enjoy beer and food while watching a sporting event.
