Our usual pizza spot was closed for Easter, so we decided to pivot and ended up at Wildcrust on a whim--and I'm so glad we did. The food was absolutely spectacular. We started with the meatballs, which honestly could have been a meal on their own. The pizzas came shortly after (Funghi and Salame Piccante), and both were excellent, perfectly cooked with great flavor. Service was just as impressive. Travis was fantastic and helped us pick the perfect glass of wine to complement our meal. Overall, this turned out to be an unexpected find and a great experience. Brought my best friend to try this place out catch up. I highly recommend this spot for a date night if you're looking for something nice and not too fancy! Anyways onto the food: 1. Calamari with everything bagel seasoning - never would have thought of this combination but it sure does work. For those who are picky about the calamari, it is both legs and rings. 2. Cesar salad - greens were crispy and flavor was there. I need the brown butter bread crumbs on everything! 3. Margherita Pizza - Good but nothing too amazing. 4. Star of the show - Branzino - after having this, I have become a fan of Branzino. I will probably recommend this to anyone who comes here. The fish does have bones so be careful when you're eating it! The Shitake Buerra Blanc - Never had anything like this before but my friend who is not a fan of fish was in love this combination! 5. Wildcrust is one of those places that keeps me up at night thinking about it. Not only is it the cutest retro chic interior, but the staff are all so friendly and want you to know about your food as much as enjoy it. I always eat ungodly amounts of pizza here yet never feel bloated or disgusting after. Their little gem lettuce caesar salad is a buttery dream. They released some new menu items when I went and they are absolutely must-try items. The japanese sweet potato with pomegranate and butter reduction was so unbelievably melt in your mouth. It's funny I was just talking with a friend about how pomegranates are royalty food, and it does add that touch of esteem to this dish. The new chicken dish was the most moist chicken I've ever had, and the pickled onion it comes with was so refreshing it was the perfect pairing. We were also privileged to try the banana ice cream the chef was playing around with and I must beg for that to be released to the menu. It was such a stretchy and creamy consistency, I was obsessed with the texture and it tasted exactly like Korean Banana Kick snacks. Was feeling like pizza the other night, and was and Eagle Rock, and Wildcrust was in my list of places I needed to try, so made a quick reservation and headed over. Parking at Wildcrust is minimal in their parking lot, so you may need to find street parking, which is much more ample. The restaurant itself has an indoor and patio seating option. It was raining hard when we arrived, so inside was the move. We were sat immediately and water was brought to the table. After a quick look at the menu, we started with the pork belly and meatballs, with two pizzas: the margherita and bacon onion jam. The pork belly passed the eyeball test with some pickled cabbage on top. The meat,itself, was thinly slides and pretty fatty overall. Would have preferred more meat to fat ratio. Also, it could have been crispier on top to give the nice textured bite you look for from pork belly. The meatballs, oh the other hand, were outstanding. Definitely in my top three meatballs I've ever had. They use a snake rivers farm beef, and you can taste the quality, but it what feel like there's Parmesan mixed directly into the beef giving it this extra amazingness to each bite. The meatballs are layers with a chipotle tomato sauce giving a little spice and smokiness. Just a great meatball, would definitely recommend. Now you the pizzas. They are on the smaller end when it comes to pizzas for a table, and that's fine. First, the margherita. The tomatoes used tasted very nice, and the dough itself was good. The cheese felt a little cold in some areas, for some reason, so it became overly hard and not that soft, creamier texture. It also felt a little overly wet for a margherita. The bacon onion jam was different. It comes with goat cheese which, for be, I didn't feel was very prominent, to the point I didn't notice it. But a little ghost cheese goes a long way so this was probably for the best. But I was expecting this to really stand out and leave a memorable mark on me but, for some reason, it didn't. Overall, Wildcrust is a wood for oven pizza spot in Highland Park serving to they're take on the classic Naples item. If you go, absolutely order the meatballs, and bring me one as well. Great potential here with lots to work out. The Good: The Squash blossoms were yummy, the flavor and presentation was great! The meatballs were also good, the sauce was slightly spicy which was a great touch. Their spritz is also really refreshing and surprisingly strong. Ambiance absolutely gets a 5/5! The Not so good: The space is small and can feel quite cramped we were put at a weird setup table where we both faced the wall and kept getting bumped into when people walked behind us. The wait was honestly kinda ridiculous, they recommend you put the dishes in together but then bring everything out like 15-20 minutes apart the meal did not feel cohesive whatsoever. Omigosh, so so good! Service - we had the friendliest and attentive waitress from New York. She was the best! Food - so amazing. Meatballs - 5/5, so flavorful, doesn't just taste like your regular old meaty meatballs. It was so tender, juicy, and flavorful. Would def get this again. This is probably the best artisan pizza I've ever had the pleasure of trying. All their pizzas are made with a "slow-fermenting dough that is enhanced with sourdough starter" (I had to look that up). Decided to do to an online order for pickup since I was craving pizza. You can choose if you want your pizza to be 6 or 8 slices. Once you place your order you'll receive an email order receipt with your pick up time on the top left. You won't receive any text or email saying it's ready for pickup, you just show up. I Picked it up 10 min after the eta and I was glad that it was still warm. Salame Piccante: Upon the first bite, I definitely tasted the charred smoky flavor from the crust. Then a combination of salty, sweet and a slight spiciness. The sweetness reminded me of hot honey. This is a thin but structured pizza. Overall the pizza was good and I enjoyed it. been a long time since i really checked out highland park though my first residence after graduating college was in highland park. what a change in the scenery, especially among the shops and restaurants. if wildcrust is an example of the new places here then highland park's future looks bright. i came here to try the pizza and it did not disappoint. there are, i think, six or seven pizzas and they are all slightly bigger than personal sizes but ideal for sharing. get two and you can share among two or three people. i went for the salame one which is more traditional but it has a slight kick to it, more flavor than heat. the crust was sourdough and i imagine it was either a coal- or wood-fired oven. thin crust, totally balanced and sublime. angelina the GM came by to check on me and convinced me to try the meatballs. they did not disappoint either. they were crispy on the outside so i imagine they were probably baked and then put onto a grill after. whatever they did, there was a ton of flavor. angelina is super warm and friendly and has a smile that makes you feel like an old friend. the place has a great neighborly feel. parking is a little challenging but a small price to pay. i will be back. what a cool find. read more

We ordered 2 pizzas, knowing we would take home some leftovers but wanted to try more than one. We preferred the fungi over the mortadella. Mortadella slices on the pizza were strangely thick. We had 3 glasses of wine between the 2 of us. The only downside (besides the lack of parking) is that our bill was over $200 for a really good, but pizza dinner. With the appetizer @ $29 for good but 5 pieces of hamachi crudo, asparagus coming in at $23, and pizzas averaging $26 each, this is a pricey meal. Add wine at an average of $20/glass and it adds up. This is not your average casual dinner for 2. But the location, ambience and service suggest otherwise. Would I return? I don't think so. So so glad my boss introduced me to Wildcrust located in the Highland Park area. Everything we ordered was DELICIOUS & service was super quick. Cesar Salad: I wanna say this was probably one of the best Cesar salads I've ever had -- each piece of salad was coated nicely in the Cesar sauce and the crunchy bits in each bite made it 1000x better. The space feels intimate but would also work really well for a small group -- the kind of place where you can linger and actually hear each other talk. Upon arriving we were greeted by the waitress. We enjoyed the ambiance even though it is cozier than I had anticipated. My only contructive criticism about this dish would be to crisp up the skin so it'll add an elevated profile to this dish. The au jus was prepared the right way. Wildcrust is a relatively new restaurant in Eagle Rock and I had the opportunity to visit with a friend recently - it was such a great experience! We ordered the mushroom pizza, cabbage dish, and duck liver mousse. All three items were absolutely delicious. The pizza had a generous amount of mushrooms and the crust was perfectly thin and crispy. The cabbage was roasted and the flavor was unique and so tasty and sweet. The duck liver mousse came with yummy pieces of bread and was creamy and decadent. We ordered some wine which paired well with the meal - would definitely recommend for a cute date night or girls night out! Only warning is that they have a communal seating area where they may place you if you choose indoor seating; if it's you and one other person, you could be placed in the middle of the table across from each other. Came here with a reservation at 5:15 on a Saturday and it was bustling, understandably, about 10 days after their opening. We booked outdoor patio but it was raining and gray on the day, so the friendly staff graciously accommodated us inside. To start, we had the grilled cabbage which was delicious! Full of flavor, the pecorino sauce and sundried tomatoes really tied the dish together. Would definitely get this again and try their other wood fire grilled apps!! For pizzas, we had the funghi and lamb tzatziki (their signature)! The funghi was delightful - they used oyster mushrooms which provided more bite and less sogginess, but above all I loved that they used a red sauce instead of a customary white. The dough, sourdough and fermented for over 48 hrs, was soooo flavorful - tangy with just the right crisp and chew. The lamb tzatziki was also delicious, and not overwhelmingly heavy or complicated. Really enjoyed the green sauce on top with bites of mint and tender shredded lamb. We also shared a glass of red - lean wines by the glass menu but good picks. And shared a slice of tres leches cake bc we wanted to treat ourselves. Despite bringing a good appetite, we went home with half of 1 pizza. It's located in the same complex as Fondry & Queen St. There's a front patio area and an enclosed patio area. Hostess Angelina was an absolute sweetheart and Jordan (server) was darling. I ordered the Marinara Pizza and a glass of Garuti Lambrusco Di Sobra. I always judge a pizza by the crust, and Wildcrust's woodfired sourdough crust was delicious! It was puffy on the edges and had a nice flavor. The marinara sauce was also exceptionally good. The person across from me had the Caesar Salad, and it looked amazing! I definitely want to try that next time. Came here twice now and this time we had a big party (10) so we got to try all the pizzas and some sides. My fave pizza was the N'duja one and my son loved his salami w no cheese and the marinara (he has a dairy allergy). Their veggies were amazing too esp the caesar salad. The steak though, was the sleeper hit. I don't know if I can not order that now when we go there. I had the pleasure of dining here for dinner last night with my coworkers and everyone was so happy and full. We couldn't stop talking about the pizza dough! I wouldn't even call it a pizza dough bc it's so airy, light and full of flavor. The proportions of bread to sauce to toppings were perfect on each pizza. We tried a few different kinds but we loved the margarita, and the jam and cheese pizza. So perfectly balanced in flavor and texture. I want to try the funghi pizza next time! First off, we were greeted by Jean with great hospitality. That set the tone for the evening. However, my daughter who made the reservation only made it for two instead of three. Jean made it work and accomodated us beautifully. Since this was our first time at Wildcrust, we wanted to try as much of the menu as possible. For starters, we had the olives (cold), Caesar salad (huge portion with lots of cheese and little gem lettuce), beet salad (INCREDIBLE with beet chips and ricotta), meatballs (succulent and finished ended with some heat), and the Brussels sprouts (my daughter loved them). We had a margherita pizza and a lamb taziki pizza - the crust was good enough to eat PLAIN! We all had dessert with the Milk vanilla ice cream with honeycomb candy (insane), apple sorbet (tart and rich), and the delicious tiramisu. Everything was so good and prepared well! Of course, we took a lot home which will be perfect for lunch tomorrow! The staff including our waiter, Travis, and Claudia (in-training) were amazing. Travis knew the menu well and explained everything to us in a kind and helpful manner. We were never rushed and were able to enjoy each course in our own time. By the time we left, the place was packed! It was a little loud, but not horribly loud as we sat on the patio. The patio had a lovely ambiance once the sun set with twinkle lights, candles, and individual lights on the tables. We will definitely go back to Wildcrust as it is so local to us. Additionally, we truly compare it to Pizzeria Mozza in quality, service, and hospitality - that's a first in the area and we are thrilled. We devoured everything we ordered! The duck croquettes were a great start to our meal! We loved how the crispy exterior complimented the tender duck inside. We also ordered the cabbage from the grilled menu. I wasn't sure what to expect for this dish. However, the cabbage was tender and a bit on the sweet side, but paired well with the sun dried tomatoes and pecorino sauce. Its a B restaurante. Cabbage appetizer was a surprise and really great. Pizza was pretty good and croquettes were just ok. Ambiance is cool but we got sat at a community table on V-day and that was a little annoying. Prices on food were fine but the wine was super expensive. Parking is limited so may want to park at the street spot if you find one. read more

I've eaten here 4 times now. Food has some amazing things and a couple things I'd pass on. (see below) Staff is super friendly and very welcoming and attentive. Parking sucks. Be prepared to find street parking. The Pizza: Margherita is the best, for sure. So far I've tried the Margherita, the Salami Piccante, and the Funghi. Out of those three, for sure the Margherita is the best one. Tip: Get the Calabrian Chili on the side. Note: They do not have ranch dressing for all you ranch dipping pizza lovers. Get the meatballs. It's always a must. So soft and flavorful. Best meatballs I've ever had. Get the Brussel sprouts. So friggin' good! Pass on the fried calamari. It was way over cooked. Pass on the pork belly. It was just okay, and also personally didn't feel like it paired well with anything else we ordered for the table. Out of the 4 times I've been here, the first 3 visits everything was unbelievably good. For some reason though on the 4th visit, the pizza didn't seem the same. Maybe because it was crowded, maybe someone new in the kitchen? Regardless, I'm sure something was just off that night. I'll definitely be back again hopefully soon! read more

I wasn't expecting anything crazy when my girlfriend wanted to come and try some place new and I'm glad we came here. Everyone was so kind and friendly not just towards us but our dog as well. Their outdoor patio is small but still spacious and pretty. We got their Duck Croquettes, Grilled Cabbage, and the Lamb Tzatziki Pizza. The Duck Croquettes were amazingly delicious; the croquettes were lightly battered, crispy, duck was tender, and the garlic aioli complimented it perfectly. Grilled Cabbage definitely threw us off as it also tasted really well with the sun dried tomato vinaigrette. The tzatziki pizza was great, it was definitely an experience to try something new. We ended up getting dessert here as well and it was the perfect dessert to end the night! Everything was perfect and everyone was so nice. I'd definitely come back again! read more

The food was underwhelming overall. The salad and wine were genuinely excellent, but everything else fell short for the price. We were surprised to be charged extra for basic pizza accompaniments like parmesan and red pepper flakes. Given the cost, we expected more care and flavor. The lamb tzatziki pizza in particular missed the mark and was very spicy (despite not being listed as spicy), the meatball sauce was off, and the margherita was very standard. super yummy and the lamb tzatziki pizza folds :) the duck croquettes were creamy with an excellent crunch - wish there was a little bit of acidity in the dish as it's a very rich and fried item paired with the mayo. the grilled cabbage reminded me of caprese salad with the sundried tomatoes/cheese, and the lamb tzatziki pizza had a unique meaty taste and crust to it! all three items complemented each other well and the flavor profiles worked together so def mix and match here. there's bathrooms outside the restaurant and street parking was easy in the neighborhood. otherwise, their parking lot will occupy maybe 7 cars max. all the staff were attentive and kind, the ambience is def cozy and relatively casual. really liked the lighting in here! read more
