A volunteer group I belong to holds an annual dinner here each April. The meal we had last night was exceptional in taste and presentation. The service was likewise excellent. I wish I had taken pictures of the food, especially the apple pie for dessert! The Wildcat Tavern has a great porch area that is used for moderate sized groups, giving them privacy from the rest of the cozy restaurant while also protecting those regular diners from rowdy groups. If you want a place with a warm ambiance and live music, and don't care much about the food quality or execution, this is a perfect spot for mediocre albeit expensive tavern food. What went wrong? French fries delivered aside one of the two sandwich dishes was luke warm and nearly cold. Fries on the second sandwich dish were regular potatoes but we ordered sweet potato fries. Took 15-20 minutes to fix. Only 1 TV working on NFL playoff football weekend, and this TV was out of view of our table. Another TV located elsewhere was said to be non-operational due to a satellite dish having reception problems related to a couple of inches of "snow." The salmon add-on to the salad was overcooked and dry. So an overcooked salmon salad totaled $32, which are NYC prices for mediocre NH food. Service was very slow. It was a busy Saturday, so we didn't expect speed. What went right? Enjoyed the Brussel Sprouts appetizer. Loved a Czech beer on tap. Wildcat has a very decent tap menu. The overall ambience of the tavern-restaurant was excellent, and we especially appreciated the live music, which featured a guitarist playing 70's - 90's classic rock standards. read more

Stayed at the Inn part of this establishment and the staff was so helpful and kind. The place is really cute and the room we had was clean and cozy. The bathroom is a bit small but maybe it was just our room but the floors were extremely creaky. I felt bad moving around our room because it would echo throughout the building it seems like. The WiFi they had was great and we didnt have the chance to try their food downstairs due to us checking in late. read more

I've been here twice post-winter ascent of Washington, and it always satisfies. I sadly forgot to take photos, but got the Corn Chowder and Greek Chicken Sandwich. The chowder was creamy and sufficiently full of corn, which is always nice compared to chowders that are thinner and/or lacking substance. The chicken sandwich was alright. The chicken itself was juicy and well cooked, but as a sandwich it wasn't quite cohesive. The service is always super friendly though, and the decor is pretty fun! read more

Tried to go in for dinner tonight on the pub side . The hostess told me about 20 minutes or so bc the band was ending and people will be leaving shortly. Great Then told me I wouldnt be able to stay in the entrance area , large room , which was Empty , with SEATS and heat. I was really confused, was I suppose to wait in my car( when she wouldnt take my name for a reservation or give me a buzzer for my table) bc it 1st come .. I love the vibe at wildcat tavern and visit a couple times a month during ski season. We sat in the bar/pub side and there was live entertainment as is usual there Saturday night. The food was excellent as well. The ambiance is very befitting of a picturesque mountain town and located just a few minutes drive from attitash and wildcat as well as black mountains. My family and I went there about a year and a half ago. I have never been a huge fan of this place but I was willing to give it a second try. We went in, got seated, and got our drinks pretty quick. Then we were all ready to order. 45 or so minutes went by and our server had not come to ask if we were ready to order or even check to see how our drinks were. We ended up leaving and went to Red Fox and had a delicious meal with great service there. Very disappointing experience but I did not care too much because like I said I never really enjoyed the food at this place. I probably will not be back any time soon. read more

We hadn't been to Wildcat Inn since 2019, and that was an awful experience. We decided to give them another chance, because it had been so long, we hoped for better service. Our server was ok, but each course took longer and longer to arrive. Last time the Tavern was terrible, so we went to the main dining room. We got our waters.........server came back to get our drink order. 15 minutes later, our drinks arrived. Server came back after another 20 minutes for our meal orders. 15 minutes later, our soup arrived. An HOUR later, our dinner arrived! The server kept coming back to say our dinner would be out any minute... I asked to speak to the person in charge, she never showed up. Half of our dinner was hot, the other part barely lukewarm. We were never asked I'd we wanted dessert or an after dinner drink. We will never go back. It's very expensive, and you get subpar service and quality. Went on a Saturday night for hubs birthday. He wanted to sit in bar. Big mistake, loud, poorly stafffed. He had to change his chair as the one he first sat on had two screws sticking up. My fish chowder and his wing appetizers were fine. The disaster was my chicken asian stir fry. I enjoy spicy food, especially asian food. This dish was so hot it burned the roof of my mouth. Pros: Lovely patio seating. Friendly staff. Cons: Bartenders must have been new (or careless?). Our martini was served without the twist and I was given the wrong draft beer (brown ale, ordered pale ale). We overhead the table next to us complain their dirty martini wasn't dirty so that's 3/3 drinks served wrong. Also, the prices are HIGH. $33 for haddock that was just ok. Not fans. read more

We made reservations to eat and listen to live music two out of the past three Saturdays and let me tell you, the a Wildcat is the place to go for date night. We sat at the same table both times in front of a warm fire with a prime view of the musician. Each time, we shared an appetizer, entree, and dessert. The mushroom crostini is insanely good and I'll be ordering that every time. The wings and fries are delicious but nothing out of the ordinary. The steak tips melted in our mouth and the strawberry, rhubarb, apple pie with vanilla bean ice cream was so good that I Googled a recipe for it to make at Thanksgiving. The craft beer selection boasts several of my favorites and you can't beat fresh buck-a-shuck Duxbury oysters. For the only "needs improvement," I should disclose that I lived 30-years in Texas before my 10 in New England but for the sake of transparency, the one thing I won't order again is the candy apple ribs. Unique concept but missed the mark. They are tender but missing the flavor and texture from a bbq pit. I'm just not a fan of boiled, baked or slow-cooker ribs. This restaurant is a tourist trap. We waited 1hr, 45 min for our meals to come out - and on a Tuesday. I ordered the pork tenderloin special. What I was finally served was pork chops not pork tenderloin! Very different. Server was apologetic about wait times at first, overextended, and became rude as night went on. Especially when my food was wrong. I ordered steak tips in place. It wasn't apparent to our server to request the replacement meal a priority over the rest of the restaurant after I had already waited 1hr, 45 min for food. She would give no estimate as to how long they would come out. I would have left but nothing was open at that point and had no choice. They took much too long to come out and server was nasty at that point. We got desserts we had already ordered to go. Strawberry shortcake and a chocolate dessert. They were stale and inedible. No manager ever once came out to apologize or check on things. Nothing was taken off the bill. A dessert should have at least been comped. Emailed restaurant the next day. No response at all - 6 days later. They clearly don't care. Very poorly run. As I mentioned in beginning - tourist trap. Atmosphere was quiet where we were. The ski lift benches and other decor were cozy, staff super friendly, and overall vibe was perfect for some socially distant entertainment on a Wednesday. That is just wayl over the top....have decided that you are out of my price range and we will not return. We were supposed to have dinner in the garden on Wednesday but Isaias has different plans for us as he knocked out power all Around the valley. So we went on Saturday. Waited an HOUR for a salad and fries. When the fries arrived, they were barely warm. Seriously? Three tables around us all had issues with the service. I'm sure the kitchen was short staffed - who isn't these days? The server was pleasant enough and obviously working hard, but when we asked about the rest of our food, she said because we ordered the fries and salad "as appetizers" that held up the rest of our order. We ordered everything al at the same time. She said she didn't even put the ticket for our meals in until over an hour after we'd been sitting there! Again, seriously? This is a failure of the management. Plenty of staff were standing around, chatting away. Who was expediting orders? Who was helping out in the kitchen? Any server can make a simple green salad. We ate here last night and had such a great time! Our waitress Jen was very nice and prompt. The mushroom & cheese on Bread appetizer was phenomenal! The kale Caesar salad was delicious. My husband got the braised duck sandwich and that was amazing and I got the lobster corn chowder, which was delicious but could be a little thicker with corn. The red sangria was excellent as well as the Bullet bourbon. The band that played outback was great and glad to hear they are playing every Saturday throughout the summer. They are worth going back to see but make sure you make reservations because we didn't know they were needed but we were graciously allowed to sit in and listen with only a $10 cover charge. We ended up getting a tour of the new "igloo" house, which we will consider renting on another trip up here. Thank you staff for a great time! read more

I'm giving 3 stars for the restaurant. We also stayed at the Inn for 2 nights and it was wonderful. The service was great, staff was very attentive and welcoming. Overall it was a nice place to unwind after some winter activities this weekend. We would be really happy to stay here again. If I could give 3.5 stars I would, for the total experience. Now for the restaurant. The food and drink selection was extensive. We started off with warm winter drinks, which was nice since the dining room was cold. The wild mushroom crostini was the highlight of our dinner and I would highly recommend it. My boyfriend had the surf and turf which he said was okay, except the lobster was still slightly frozen. I had the shrimp and scallop scampi. The seafood on it was good but the pasta sauce had too much lemon and was so acidic I couldn't finish or enjoy it. The artichokes were extremely sour. The dessert was nice but still, a bit frozen. We had the seasonal "fruits of the forest" pie a la mode. In total we spent $120, which was fair for what we ordered but it didn't not fully meet my expectations. A nearby table also complained that their food was cold, so it wasn't just us. The waitress was excellent and the service was quick, so those were redeeming qualities. Other than that, I would only come here for the hotel, appetizers and drinks. read more

My wife and I are from Maine. Over the past year or so we have been trying new restaurants. And I have been pretty underwhelmed with their food. Well we finally found a place worth commenting on. Not the same as previous years - menu has changed and far more expensive than before. Plus higher menu cost compared to other establishments for the same items. In addition now they are charging a cover charge ($5 per person) to listen to music. Nobody else in the valley is doing this.
