There is no place in the Upper Valley that has seen more of a revitalization than downtown White River Junction. What used to be a sketchy area is now filled with boutique shops, bustling businesses of tech and industry, arts, culture, and restaurants. One such upscale craft cocktail bar is Wolf Tree. If you didn't know it, you might feel as if you'd stepped into a hipster cocktail lounge in Brooklyn as you walk into Wolf Tree. They offer a variety of playful and inventive drinks. My friend was able to get a virgin cocktail but I just wish they had more than one single cocktail on the menu with vodka. With my choices somewhat limited, I went with a drink called "Friday I'm In Love": vodka, citrus, strawberry, mint, and bubbles. It looked beautiful when it arrived to the table and was a palate pleaser with sour, sweet, and minty flavors. They have weekly specials, classic-type cocktails, and what they call "happy meals" - a beer and shot combination. Don't fear, though, they still have Budweiser, Bud Lite, Miller High Life, and other draft beers for those feeling more traditional Upper Valley. We also ordered one of their charcuterie boards that featured local selections of cheese and meats, olives, pickled vegetables, cured mustards, and a baguette. A great selection but like most of Wolf Tree, a little on the expensive side. Overall I enjoyed my first trip to Wolf Tree and I'm glad hip places like this exist in the Upper Valley. read more

TLDR: great drinks for the area, but no air conditioning so keep that in mind! On a visit to Dartmouth, I had the chance to stop by this bar. The interior and the cocktail menu reminded me of the cocktail bars that I frequent in NYC. It's quite cute, dimly lit. I think it's a great place for a date. I enjoyed the Night Vision. It's a rum based drink with carrot, ginger and pineapple juices as well as sesame. My friends got the Knife Fight which was a bourbon based drink with lemon ginger pineapple. Tasted like a gingery whiskey sour. If I'm in town again I'll stop by and try something else. Not sure if this is normal or if their AC was broken but it was super hot inside. read more

Pretty decent for the area! Don't really serve food here BUT the drinks are p good. I will say the flavor profiles of these drinks are on the simpler side, and there are no clarified drinks, but they still hit the spot when needed (especially since its own of the few cocktail bars in the area). Service is always super friendly, especially this one bartender who is always smiley and gives good vibes. Ambiance is also very intimate and dark which I like. Best bar in town! Great owner, incredibly thoughtful detail in every part of the design of this establishment AND the drinks. You don't feel like you're in the UV, but you get to indulge in all the perks of the UV (free parking, chill crowd) etc. The bartenders here, are actual bartenders who care about their craft. Stopped in yesterday just to have a few drinks and relax. This place delivers on a great vibe and a great time. The drinks were great, my girlfriend ordered a red wine but was not sure what she wanted and the bartender was great he even gave her a taste of two which was a nice touch. You can tell this place goes the extra mile to make sure your experience is on point. While sitting at the bar you can't help but notice the display/artwork on the wall. While sitting and drinking it seemed like you could make out all types of images but depending on your angle it disappears and something else appears. In addition to the great service and drinks they also have an appetizer menu which goes really well with the drinks. We ordered the longaniza//chorizo and it was great. Finally a nice cocktail bar in the Upper Valley! This really adds something special to WRJ. The drinks were unique and tasty and the cheese (Camembrie!), salami, and olives were delicious! It's nice to see a busy place open late on a Saturday night. It's on the smaller side, so it can get pretty loud when busy. I do wish that they had coat/purse hooks along the wall across from the bar for if you were unable to snag a seat. Maybe consider adding stools there as well. The service was unintrusive and they did the best job I've ever seen splitting a bill. Overall a cool, hip vibe with a classy marble bar and a clever sign indicating when the bathroom is occupied. They should think of adding at least one mocktail to the menu for the designated drivers. There isn't any signage out front so enter through the glass door shared with Rio Blanco Salon (in the middle of the building, not the door on the right). read more

Best bar in the upper valley! Such amazing craft cocktails. All of them are unique and taste so good. The outdoor patio is so nice during warm weather and has built-in hand sanitizers in the tables and umbrellas to keep you cool. In the cooler weather they have heaters. You currently can't have drinks inside the bar, but the outside is really nice. However, make sure to make a reservation early to get a spot. There are benches that are first-come-first-serve but fill up super quickly so get there early if you don't have a res. They have charcuterie boards that look super yummy, but I haven't gotten one yet. Most nights they have wood-fired Neapolitan pizza from Tug pizza which is sooo good. Highly recommend a date night here of pizza and fancy cocktails. Will be back to try all the house drinks! read more

I'd give more stars if I could. My wife and I had heard about Wolf Tree's opening and were immediately scrambling to look at our calendar's. Seeing the huge crowd on social for the opening weekend, we thought we would hit it up on the earlier side, so we rolled in for a late afternoon/early evening cocktail and were greeted by Max behind the bar and another patron far down the other end. Quick to ask us what our preferences were in a beverage, make suggestions and genuinely make us feel like we had his full attention, Max crafted some truly delicious gems. I started with a Knife Fight and my wife, a Lady Slipper. Both were delicious. Afterwards Max came back and asked if we wanted a second round and he was more than willing to go off script based on taste preferences. Again...another home run. Attention to detail and the genuine nature of how he cares about the patrons, its unrivaled. The general vibe is what we have been missing most about moving to a rural town. A classy cocktail bar with no pretentiousness about it. Just quality ingredients made by people who care deeply about their craft. We didn't partake in the cheese or charcuterie this time around, instead running to Trail Break for something a bit heavier, before returning to meet some friends back at Wolf Tree (seriously, couldn't keep us away). This time talking to another staff member, Gabrielle, who's kindness and willingness to talk all things delicious booze (and tattoos) just echoed the fact that the staff at Wolf Tree know how to treat the folks in their establishment. Went to wolf tree this evening for a cocktail and to sit outside and enjoy tin with my husband as we have previously. Much to our surprise we were told that she could not serve us a drink without a reservation. She was not pleasant to us, and quite rude.
