I can't wait to tell you about Sour's! The almost missable, modest entrance is off a side alley below Littleton's historic Thayer's Inn. Owner Kristo Souris ("kids could never pronounce my name so I just went by Sour") MC's behind the bar and mixes balanced, scrumptious cocktails--last night I had the Peach Bourbon Paper Plane for which Kris charred the peaches for extra complexity and depth. Indeed! The Corn Agnolotti comprised a toothsome house made pasta filled with Vermont cheese nestled in a rich Sungold Tomato Brodo (little bursts of bright tomato offsetting the garlic-rich corn-studded broth). On another visit, the Zucchini fritters transcended their name by a magnitude of 10; crispy Salt Cod Croquettes were elevated by a pickled ramp tartar sauce, fennel radish salad, and caper berries. The "cheesecake" was more of a crustless pudding with intense roasted peaches and a crunchy strudel topping. Shout out to Tatum, a fashi-forward bartender who executes Kris's deliciously balanced craft cocktails with verve & finesse while Kris flits back and forth, shaking, stirring, and socializing. He's everything, everywhere, all at once! I asked to meet and compliment the chef. I didn't catch his name, obviously on purpose, since he shyly demurred credit and handed it to the team behind the swinging doors. Saw their new spring menu on social media and I really wanted to try it! We decided to go in if there was no wait - if not we would go somewhere else... and we got lucky! Seated right away. Good enough atmosphere. It's not Bailiwicks, but good enough... Their bar area is super lively, I like it a lot. We both *don't* love the one and only, unisex bathroom that is always out of hand soap and not always super clean (according to Boyfriend who had to lift the seat.......). They need to keep an eye on that... Waitress was ok. A very loud talker. Food was amazing! I had both their "specials" - the fiddle heads appetizer and the Lamb chops... which were also served with fiddle heads, and a delicious risotto (I didn't realize the lamb was also served with fiddle heads, if I had, I would have tried a different appetizer - but that's my fault because I'm sure she must have mentioned it). Everything was amazing. Lamb was so tender and perfectly flavored. Boyfriend had the hanger steak and duck fat fries and loved it too. Says it's some of the best fries he's had! I'm not much of a dessert person but I like trying stuff at restaurants where I know it will be homemade. I had some whipped cream and butterscotch dessert and it was great - couldn't finish as I was full, but no regrets. We will be back! My husband and I were in Littleton for dinner and decided to try this place. We were pleasantly surprised by the cocktails as well as the tapas. Service was great and the ambiance was very cozy. We remember going to the old restaurant that used to be here called Balliwick's many many years ago. We tried the burrata dish, tuna crudo, corn agnolotti, and the mussels. Our favorite was the corn agnolotti which had an amazing garlicky sauce. We will be back to try some other dishes soon! read more

On the Sunday night before Presidents Day around 6:15 pm, I was in town for business and was shocked at how busy it was. I waited for quite a bit (30+ minutes) for a table but totally didn't mind because the food, drinks, and service were absolutely worth the wait. Their wait list was over 10 parties long, and they were supposed to close at 9 pm! The restaurant is lively and the bar was packed. I would have sat there at the bar, but people on the wait list were seated at the bar too. Jalen was incredibly friendly and honest and apologized for the wait, which wasn't too bad at all. For a cocktail, I ordered Schrute Farms, which as gin drinks go, was absolutely original and outstanding. I hadn't had fennel infused gin before, and certainly not with beet juice. Having had delicious gin cocktails before with carrot juice, I knew this would be amazing, and it absolutely was. The drink was perfectly balanced with lemon juice and St. Germain elderflower, my favorite combination, and the beet juice truly enhanced the gin. I ordered the last Schrute Farms for the night, as they ran out of beet juice. I guess it's popular. Whatever reviews said that the food here lacks flavor must have just took a wrong turn and have been in a different restaurant. Every dish was packed with flavor. The kampachi crudo was a Valentines special. Kampachi is a yellowtail fish and is tender and mild in flavor. This, punctuated with chilis, dill, and a delicious broth, was one of the best crudo I've had in years, blowing any mere tuna crudo out of the water. I would eat the rabbit agnolotti as the quintessential comfort food, where the truffles and parmesan were delicious but highlighted by herby rosemary in the rabbit agnolotti filling. The pasta was homemade and perfectly al dente. The duck conft is next level creativity. It was so crispy, and who new that popcorn miso cream was what I've been searching for my whole life? The gremalata and manchego absolutely made this dish something I will not forget. I got the last one of duck confit of the evening as well, so I certainly won the food lottery! Order this early in the evening, lest they run out. You cannot miss this restaurant in Littleton. This place is unreal. It's so good we came back for brunch the next day. The duck fat fries are great. The venison is unreal (a smaller dish and absolutely worth it). Skirt steak was also great and the potatoes that come with it were perfectly crisp and soft inside. The donuts are out of this world. We came back for brunch and the buttermilk pancake was one of the best I've ever had. It's not a big "doughy" traditional pancake, it's a nice soft thin one. The corn beef hash was also unreal. Well, I only went here three times in 6 days...LOL. It is a surprisingly large place, but the bar has only about six seats, and it is always busy. The decor inside is very cool. Very inviting and not cramped at all. The people who own and operate it ensure that the service is excellent. I can't say that enough. Everyone is responsive and is there to make you happy. I had three tapas dishes on one evening, including meatballs, whitefish, and shrimp. Everything was prepared perfectly. The meatballs were just outstanding. The broth was super flavorful. I could have had three orders. Let's talk cocktails. They have a very well-stocked bar and have some very innovative cocktails. I enjoyed a variety of them. Nice little spot located in the back of and underneath the historic Thayers Hotel on the main drag in Littleton, NH. I went early (4 pm ish) on a Wednesday and it was very quiet. Sat at the bar and the only other patrons were an older couple also seated at the smallish bar. Tapas size plates (although the calamari would comfortable have fed two people). I had the Calamari, and the lamb sliders (2 to an order). Both were delicious! The bartender was an outgoing friendly type, not intrusive but not afraid to talk with you. Nice guy. very spunky restaurant. started with the street corn dip which was phenomenal. came with tortilla chips that were fried there, very good. spaghetti was also very non-conventional, but still packed with flavor nonetheless. ended with the cod croquettes which my friend absolutely loved. not the biggest cod fan myself, but the tartar sauce it came on was easily the best i've ever had. server was very fun and easy to talk to. prices were a expensive for the size, but with A-tier presentation and taste what can you really expect. overall a fun place to try some unique food. read more

I was very disappointed by the food. I checked the reviews before picking this place and nothing checked out except for the service, which was good, and the fact that the place is spacious. I tried four different tapas and they were all very bland and lackluster. The descriptions on the menu sound creative but they were ultimately unhelpful, as the dishes had very little character. The calamari was verging on send-it-back. It was absolutely tasteless and rubbery. Not a pinch of salt in that batter. The brussels sprouts were burnt and boring. There was a minuscule amount of sauce on the bottom but it played no role in the taste ensemble even after stirring. The crispy pork belly was passable but drier than one would hope and not particularly interesting. Finally, the squash arancini had the best flavor of the bunch but were mealy and sitting atop some sort of cheese whiz. Dessert was the saving grace, as the texture of the ricotta donuts was pleasant. The place itself is spacious as other reviews point out and there was no trouble with seating on a Saturday. At the same time, it gives dated vibes. Also, the beer selections are limited. For a place like this, you would expect much more. I came away thinking that there just probably aren't enough reviews yet to make the rating statistically significant. The food here was great. I think their menu is seasonal but everything we had was enjoyable. The hostess and waiters were very friendly and attentive. My issues lie in the spacing though. The restaurant itself is a bit smaller and doesn't allow for reservations for parties for 1-4 people. We went on a holiday weekend so the wait was long but still worth it. The table space is also pretty small as well so it's a bit hard to eat when there are multiple dishes out at once. read more

We were visiting from New York City--home of some of the best restaurants in the world and all around foodie paradise--and Sour's is one of the best restaurants I've EVER eaten in. Whether in NYC, San Diego, Paris, Barcelona, Athens or Crete (where the owner's family is from), I've been all over the world and had comparable food but none better! The Crispy Lamb Belly should be required eating for anyone who has ever cared about food. The beet salad was common fare but as good as it comes. The brussel sprouts were absolutely amazing. The salmon was outstanding. According to the menu, the restaurant sources its food from local providers and it shows. Good ingredients mixed with a chef who truly understands how to put his flavors together results in a meal you will not forget. What more can you ask? read more
