This review is a contradiction to itself... The service was great and incredibly slow. Some of the food was excellent and some just barely mediocre. We had a reservation at 5:45 - they told us they couldn't seat us at 5:15 or 5:30 even though more than 1/2 of the dining room was empty when we got there. Sure sign that they are short on staff - but it must be in the kitchen because there were definitely enough waitstaff around. And although there were waitstaff around we barely saw our very friendly waitress. The owner was around and was very nice and accommodating with the kids and offered to make anything they wanted. I had the prime rib - which was cooked to a perfect medium rare and tender but it had no flavor at all. The sweet carrots were the star of the plate. My husband had the rib eye and said it was just OK but again no flavor. My daughter had the bacon burger but it was a hockey puck and all she ate was the mashed potato side. My son had grilled chicken and their "famous" fries (as the owner said) - the fries were the pre battered kind and nothing fancy and the chicken was just that a slab of grilled chicken breast. The fried green beans were good and the pretzels were perfect although the cheese sauce with them had no flavor. We took desserts to go and I am not sure why they called it bread pudding but it was just a hunk of hard bread. We like to support local but not sure we will make an effort to come back here. read more

Friendly attentive servers. good food, nice ambiance. Casual yet desires to be upscale. I was expecting better than it was. Feta Penne Shrimp was hearty portion and a bit on dry side and warm not served hot. Prime Rib with mushroom brandy sauce looked amazing but slightly off-maybe brandy wasn't cooked off enough. Been here couple times when doing a conference e at Grandview mountain resort. Our server, Olivia, was excellent. Lots of energy and helpful. However, I ordered my ribeye medium-well (which is pink) but came out well done (no pink at all). I didn't say anything because there's not much up here to choose from. I wish I could give them negative stars!! My husband called to make a reservation for dinner for our anniversary. He told Joanne, the owner that it was our anniversary and that we wanted to be seated in the dining room and NOT the pub. We even went with a later time so that they could accommodate dinner in the dining room. She never, ever mentioned a wedding going on that night. My husband confirmed with her 3 times that we would be in the dining room. When we got there the hostess went to seat us in the pub. She told us there was a wedding going on in the dining room and that there was no availability in that room. Joanne even came out and said "oh NO we have a wedding going on". She acted like she had never told my husband we would be in the dining room (to celebrate our anniversary). We left very upset. We were LIED to!!! At this point it was 7:30pm so we couldn't make any other arrangements. There isn't much to choose from as it is in the north country and we couldn't make another reservation on that type of notice! I love this place. It's the most relaxing dining experience around. I live in Littleton and gladly leave all of the local places in town to the tourists and drive the 20 minutes to Whitefield. The prime rib special is as good as any high price restaurant anywhere. The atmosphere is low key and the staff is very friendly and attentive. The deserts are huge. We dined there with friends last night. My husband and I shared the prime rib with soup and salad. We ordered it medium/well. When we got the prime rib it was well done so we asked for a different piece which was gladly given to us along with another serving of mashed potato and carrots. Went here for a rehearsal dinner and it was good! Pros: great space, good food, friendly service, mashed potatoes are awesome Cons: 1 server for entire private party who was also only bartender at the restaurant. We ate here while staying at the Mountain View. Service and food quality were outstanding. Bread was hot out of the oven. Sriracha & Maple Glazed Salmon over Arugula was perfectly cooked with a complement of mashed red potatoes and carrots. Pink Champagne Cake with buttercream was a great way to end the dinner (our reward for a day of hiking!) Joanne, the owner, was very attentive as was our waitress! This is a excellent dinning inn with good local home town food. For starters we had the crab cakes, two large cake with good homemade flavor. Followed by rib eye steak dinner and salmon dinner both nicely done with very different toppings but it just worked. Them homemaker strawberries short cake which needs two people to share. After reading all the excellent reviews, I was really looking forward to eating here. I'm sorry to say that tonight the food did not Iive up to expectations. The harvest salad was fine, but the blue cheese wasn't of great quality and the abundance of red onions overwhelmed the salad. The crab cakes (which were frozen, not made at the restaurant, I asked) and the French fries were both very overcooked and I didn't enjoy the meal at all. The crème brûlée was good. Wow. What a find. My wife and I had a hiking weekend in Whitefield, staying at the historic Mountain View Grand Hotel. The weekend was awesome, but the dinner at the hotel, not so much. After the first night of having a disappointing dinner at the hotel, we decided to go elsewhere the second night. We were told of The Inn at Whitefield by some locals, checked the impressive reviews, and decided to give them a try. I called late in the afternoon and they could seat us in the early evening. We arrived quite early, and they were able to sit us at our table, even though they were busy. To start, we ordered their shrimp cocktail. We then followed that with my wife ordering their garden salad with blue cheese dressing, while I opted for the soup of the days chicken rice. For entrees, we both ordered their panko crusted stuffed chicken. From first bite of the shrimp cocktail to the last bite of chicken, the dinner was superb. Chilled jumbo shrimp with their own very tasty cocktail sauce was a great start. My wife's salad was full of fresh greens and one of the tastiest blue cheese dressings she's had. My cup of chicken rice soup was thick and full of flavor. And our entrees were even better. The panko crusted chicken was moist, stuffed with prosciutto and Gouda cheese, and topped off with a great sauce. The sides were very tasty skin on mashed potatoes and thick sliced farm fresh carrots. As you can tell, this was one winner dinner :) It was far superior than the previous night's hotel dinner, and maybe 60% the cost. It as easily one of the best meals I have had out in a long time and worthy of my five stars. Service was awesome. And the owner/chef (?) would walk around from time to time talking to the customers making sure all was well. And indeed it was. If we visit the Whitefield area again, and we will, this is our go to place for dinner. I highly recommend it. read more

We went there our first night staying in Jefferson. The servers were nice. Waited a while for our apps and food. We got the shrimp cocktail and sweet potato fries as an app. They were good. Then my husband got their wings and he really liked them. I got their chicken "so-Gouda" it was a little crispy on the outside. I had never had Gouda cheese so it was off to me. It came with carrots and couscous. The carrot were kind of hard and couscous seemed like it has been sitting. I also had a side salad with apple cider vinaigrette which was really good. But one of the cooks was really nice and came out and had a lovely conversations with us prior which made our experience better. So that's why I am giving it 4 out of 5 instead of anything lower. Plus the we tipped the server 20% as we always do no matter what state we visit and she was shocked. She asked if that was right and my husband said yes. She then told us no one ever tips that much. So we were happy to make her night and holidays a little brighter. read more

I've not been writing very many reviews lately. Most restaurants have not inspired me, and I've decided not to be too critical because it feels kind of mean. But I really felt compelled to take a few moments to recommend The Inn at Whitefield. We had driven from Boston to stay at the big resort nearby (where the food was very ordinary). I'm SO glad we tried The Inn at Whitefield on our last night. The food here is the BEST. It's REAL FOOD prepared by a talented woman who loves to eat (as she told me in person when I offered a compliment) which is why she loves to cook SO well (obviously). I'll rattle off what we had and why we loved it. For starters we had the sweet potato fries: just crispy enough, but creamy and delicious inside. The dabs of butter melting on top as they were served was a genius touch that made them absolutely decadent! Reminded me of sweet potato pie. My salad with blue cheese dressing was fresh and gorgeous. I can still taste the greens. The blue cheese dressing was just enough and had just the right amount of real crumbled blue cheese. This is why we order blue cheese dressing--it's what you're thinking of when you order blue cheese dressing. Perfect. My fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and just like home made (okay, better than mine). My dinner was served with honey glazed carrots. Nice big chunks, not too mushy and just the right touch of honey. Ate 'em all. My dinner companion had the mushroom ravioli. OMG. These were large and nicely stuffed with lots of filling and covered in more mushrooms. Mouthwatering and delicious. Dessert! Even though we were full, I HAD to try dessert knowing how it must be really good if the rest of the food was. I love bread pudding when it's done right. I've tried it everywhere. This salted caramel bread pudding was THE BEST. I received a tall hefty portion of warm gooey sweet bread pudding, artistically prepared with lots of large chunks of what must have been good brioche bread, cubed and prepared with dreamy textures, plenty of caramel, and with a big dollop of fresh whipped cream slowly melting over the top. I was already full when I started but couldn't stop eating! It was bread pudding caramel magic! We also had the luxurious lemon mousse with strawberries. Served in a tall parfait glass, the flavor was sweet, refreshing lemony creaminess. The strawberries were brilliant red and ripe. I can't remember that last time I was this happy with a restaurant meal. The staff were enthusiastic, happy, and pleasant. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I would consider driving from Boston again, just to dine at this restaurant. Bravo! read more

Wonderful restaurant. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Food was good and extremely well priced (at least when comparing to Boston). We were visiting as tourists with our 4 year old. They were so nice to her even though she was being a bit active. We were able to sit right away. We sat in the bar area to keep our child from disturbing those sitting in the dining room and it was perfect. Pasta carbonara - not exactly authentic Italian but very well made with a tasty candied (American) bacon. Our four year old finished a half portion and commented that it was 'delicious'. Blueberry salad with grilled chicken - made an all-time top meal list for my wife and I though it was very good Chicken guoda sandwich - good but the least exciting of what we had. read more

This was such a surprising find! Post-Santa's Village with our 4 year old, we searched for somewhere close to get dinner. We ended up at the Inn at Whitefield and sat in the bar area. Service: Though there was some lag time between apps & dinner, I have to tell you that the bartender never stopped moving! Seriously, he was running the bar and the packed tables and serving everyone with a smile. They probably could have used another person in the bar that night- i'm not sure if the crowds they had were expected on a Tuesday night or not. Food: wow, was I shocked at how good the food was. The naan bread with sausage and garlic sauce? Incredible. I could have eaten another couple of those without blinking. French dip was solid, as was my husband's meal. There was no formal kid's menu that we were offered, but my son was happy with the chicken fingers & fries from the appetizer list. The desserts were another standout- homemade chocolate cake and bread pudding. Oh my gosh- we were so stuffed from dinner but could not have possibly left without cleaning the plate. Prices were also very reasonable, making it a great escape from our week of more expensive restaurants in the Conway area. Overall the Inn at Whitefield has us wishing we had more excuses to be in that area, just so we could stop by the restaurant. read more

Our family were on an adventure to Santa's Village and it was a great place to stop for dinner after Santa's Village before traveling onto Littleton,NH for lodging. We had made reservations at the Pub. There were 9 of us with various dietary needs. All of which were met with their menu. Great place, great food and great service!
