The food here is excellently prepared. I particularly like the wine pairing suggestions and the pairing I chose was spot on for flavor. The atmosphere is lovely and perfect New England quaint. A nice romantic spot for dinner Only thing that didn't earn all stars is the price. Although that can be said for all the Breton Woods properties. I get the upkeep on these beautiful old buildings but the reason you have NYC food prices is based on upkeep and property prices. Shouldn't apply so steeply here. All that said would definitely eat here again.

Ate breakfast here this am. I had Steel Cut Oats and Fruit. Very good ( although hard to mess up!) presentation was nice:) Atmosphere is very nice! My partner had a skillet. Eggs with spinach served over potatoes. In a cast iron dish. Very tasty and nice presentation. They Finish with a complimentary berry parfait. Very nice! We have eaten here several times while staying at the inn. Always great service and consistent food! A definite recommend!

Located in Bretton Arms Inn at the Mt Washington Resort. Quaint white inn tucked in the woods near the stables. Horses are about. This is a fine dining experience. The dining area accommodates a few. We sat in the corner against a window with garden view. Our chairs were big velvety captain seats that we sank into. Our many servers (main, bread, water etc) acted with proper decorum without seeming stuffy. We ordered the Jonah Crab Ravioli appetizer and the Duo of Beef. They started us with complimentary piece of bread. Choice of a triangle of raisin bread or a piece of baguette. The breads were average, nothing oustanding. The butter sprinkled with Himalayan Sea Salt. Then, they had us taste Salmon Crostini. The crostini was stale and the salmon was smoked, strong tasting. Next, was Lemon Ice, palette cleanser. The ravioli was flavorful and perfectly executed. Lump crab and pasta fresh. When you create the perfect bite on your fork, the experience is divine. Bursts of citrus and textures from foam and emulsion. One of the best dishes I've tasted. The duo was less impressive. The Brussel Sprouts were vibrant green and not bitter. The short rib was too salty. The filet was done beyond medium rare, not our preference. We ordered MR. The priciest dish was a disappointment. Although, I will state that both pieces of meat were so tender I was able to use my butter knife to cut since they did not bring out a steak knife. I thought they were making a statement with the butter knife. We finished with a piece of White Chocolate Fudge with Dried Cherry. Nice ending along with hot steamed towels.

Venison Special - Simple, well executed, amazing!

The meal that I had at this resturant is in my all time top 5.  I travel extensively, and just started writing reviews.  This place deserves one. The dining room is small and intimate, very nice for a get-away dinner.  I ordered the heirloom tomato app.  Fantastic.  Perfectly ripe, perfectly seasoned.  For dinner I had the special venison loin, with quash purée, carrots, wild mushrooms, and green beans.  Simple dish, very very well executed.  Venison was cooked to perfection, veggies were incredible.   Desert was a perfect puck of cheese cake, on top of almond bachlava , drizzled with maple syrup.   Service was top notch.  Wine was fantastic and at a great price.   What a place.  Perfect meal.  Strongly recommend if you are in the area.

Orange and goat cheese salad. (Picture is a half portion, the kitchen was nice enough to split it into two plates.)

A small bar as you enter that was full when we came in. We sat at a small table in the bar area. Everyone was very nice and our waitress was attentive enough - but she seemed a bit busy. But all was fine service wise. So....the food. It's weird. Like trying too hard to be different but just didn't hit the mark for me. I see bread on a menu and I get excited! So immediately I ordered the Parmesan bread with dill pickle butter. The bread was warm and I enjoyed it but the butter with dill pickle just didn't work for me. Lots of other things to me could have complemented the bread better. Then we order the lettuce wraps, they were ok. My friend ordered the duck and I tried it and we both really liked it! The vegetables were good! My sirloin....the steak itself was good despite being a tad overcooked for medium rare. Something on the plate had a curry flavor - it just didn't all go together well. Then the lemon ricotta cheesecake....we didn't taste any lemon, it was thick and weirdly dry for a cheesecake. It also had freeze dried something on top....we actually weren't sure what. Some bright spots - the food quality! You can tell that these are top notch high quality ingredients, and the cocktails! They were yummy! I just don't like the weird combos and what (to me) feels like being weird for the sake of being different versus just being good. Since I only come up here a few times a season I likely will go to our other favorites or try new spots.

Not really suitable for a vegetarian. We were seated promptly, and asked for coffee. The coffee was scalding. We added ice and learned it was hot and horrible coffee. We placed our order and waited 30 minutes for our food. Server never came by to tell us this, I had to find him at the front of the restaurant hanging out with some friends. He went and checked on the order and it arrived 5 minutes later. Ordered the eggs, toast, seasoned tator tots and fruit bowl. Toast only available in white bread and the seasoned tator tots were over fried plain tator tots that were served cold. The fruit bowl was mostly green grapes with a few blueberries and strawberries. Omni should close this place and start over. Lazy staff, ordinary and over priced food. There's a gas station next door - service is better there.

Service was stellar the entire night. The staff was so friendly, knowledgeable and hard working; a very popular and busy establishment. We had draft Pacifico beers which were nice and cold. We just had to try the baby pork shanks appetizer with zippy peach BBQ sauce served atop fennel and cabbage slaw with grilled peaches. Absolutely splendid dish! For entrees (which includes a salad and focaccia bread) we ordered the herb encrusted prime rib and the chicken saltimbocca. Both were extremely gererous portions. The chicken was moist and flavorful and the mushroom cream sauce was heavenly! The mashed potatoes and fresh veggies went perfectly with this dish. The prime rib was surprisly tough and chewey, but once we notified the staff, they did everything to try to make it right. We finished off with a limocello digestive. We were well taken care of and enjoyed the ambiance of the space and the vibes at the bar. The restaurant and restrooms were spotless. Small parking lot or on street parking. Cold Mountain Cafe is a perfect stop to turn a long drive into a nice date!…read more We definitely recommend this place, it's a solid 4 that comes off like a 5! We've passed through Bethlehem, NH a few of times as we've traveled between Maine and New Hampshire. A couple weeks ago I noticed a glowing little eatery as we hurried west on Route 2 en route to UMass Amherst. I didn't catch the name of the restaurant I'd noticed, but our return l timing worked to stop for dinner in Bethlehem, so as we headed back, Cary scoured Google and Yelp ...and based upon the menus and ambiance, we settled on Cold Mountain Cafe. Turns out this was the spot. Inside was just as welcoming as I'd anticipated. Nothing against small New England towns, ...but IMO you can't EXPECT a well-rounded professional restaurant package when you're in "two-hours-from-anywhere, New Hampshire". And IMHO, sometimes these fresh-movement country places are presented like funky hippy brightly lit hardscaped cafe's with busy chalkboard menus that look like 60's concert posters. Not Cold Mountain Cafe -the music, lighting and decor was perfectly contemporary ...relaxing ...inviting comfortable conversation. The menu and pricing were well thought out, offering an assortment of cultural fare with asian, french, American, East Indian entrees that ranged from smash-burger, pot pie comfort food, to bistro steak and seared scallops. Unexpected additions like bean cake and Indian lamb stew entrees offered a pleasant, funky twist. Entrees ranged from $19 to $38. The two drinks we tried were really great! I had the Brooklyn and Cary had the Espresso Lovers Martini. I think Cary put it perfectly when she said that the Brooklyn was like desert! The espresso martini was notable because it was made with rum, instead of vodka and it used fresh espresso, giving it a luscious Tia Maria feel. Both drinks had a wonderful silky smooth mouth feel. The waitstaff was not uniformed, but in semi-formal server attire with all black garments and waist aprons. The service was friendly, professional and attentive... our waitress brought us some warm crispy tender dinner rolls with garlicky seasoned oil dipping sauce, took our orders at our pace and checked in on us throughout the meal. The mushroom polenta app was great... smooth, creamy and fresh with balanced earthy woodsy and smoky notes. The pea soup was a bit brighter and fresher than I'm used to (growing up in Boston, my mom made the best pea soup ...a more hearty version with pork meat always made in the days following a smoked shoulder meal), but in the New England small town country, farm-fresh motif, we liked the bright, fresh pea flavors... Cary was concerned about what she would order because she was put off by the steak entree's smoked Gouda sauce. So she had the lamb stew, which was a compromise. Me? I'd spent the previous couple of days at a hotel hanging around UMass, which means a lot more carbs than I want... smash burgers, burritos, eggs Bennies... oof! So I definitely was feeling like something light... and decided to be crazy and try the bean cake. Cary's stew was nice. It didn't hit you over the head, but it had balanced signature Indian flavors, and was nicely presented. We're not volume-conscious but both thought it could have had a couple more pieces of lamb. I enjoyed my bean cake -although I don't really have anything to compare it to. The waitress said it was hearty, so I rolled the dice. I'd probably try it again... it flavorful and satisfying. The chèvre and ginger dressing supplied a good level of moisture and flavor notes to the breaded spiced bean and rice patty. I'd add that the plating on a bed of fresh spinach presented a little bit of a challenge as I had to pierce a few baby fresh spinach leafs at a time, then add the bean cake... but it was manageable... The menu changes seasonally, so we're looking forward to checking in on our next pan New England journey.
