Not really suitable for a vegetarian. We were seated promptly, and asked for coffee. The coffee was scalding. We added ice and learned it was hot and horrible coffee. We placed our order and waited 30 minutes for our food. Server never came by to tell us this, I had to find him at the front of the restaurant hanging out with some friends. He went and checked on the order and it arrived 5 minutes later. Ordered the eggs, toast, seasoned tator tots and fruit bowl. Toast only available in white bread and the seasoned tator tots were over fried plain tator tots that were served cold. The fruit bowl was mostly green grapes with a few blueberries and strawberries. There were lots of vehicles outside, a good sign when shopping for a good restaurant. It was pool night in Franconia and the sharks did get little noisy at the bar but back to FOOD. The hostess, server was very friendly. Our dinners were perfectly prepared. (Never lose that chef! Pay him/her well - worth the price of admission). My dinner was fried fish that wasn't greasy, mashed baked potato that was perfect and broccoli that was neither over cooked or under cooked - you know the crunchy kind. My pilot had French fried sweet potatoes that that were neither limp nor over cooked, crisp outside soft inside. I had the only beer of our 8 day trip a New England beer from Road Island, Narraganset which went well with the fish dinner. No room for dessert 'cause there was nothing left or either plate. Big tip, Great place. Don't miss this one!

It had a nice bar that was comfortable and a few tables. I sat at the bar and was greeted by a friendly barmaid that made a very good Manhattan for me. While enjoying my Manhattan, I met the Owner and chef and we had a great conversation about cooking and owning the issues and joys of owning a restaurant. The menu is not large but has some interesting items. My first choice, the Ribeye, was unavailable, so I settled for the Underground Reuben. It was very good. You can tell that chef takes pride in his cooking. The corned beef had a unique flavor that was great. The caramelized onions and the use Gruyère cheese was a nice touch. The value was very good. I look forward to going back next time I am in Littleton. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

The space is cozy which has table seating (15 seats) and seating up at the full service bar (8 high seats). This space was redone including the removal of the former drop ceiling. The scratch kitchen food menu offerings are streamlined including a selection of starters (Greek saganaki, soft pretzel with beer cheese, pastrami-spiced tuna, loaded smashed potatoes, buffalo lager mussels), soup du jour (clam chowder), salad special (maple tahini salad), entrees (rooted burger, VT cheddar burger, reuben, ribeye au poivre, chicken & burrata gnocchi), and desserts (Oreo waffle, blueberry NY cheesecake, rooted decadence brownie (with tableside liquor), vanilla panna cotta). The bar offers 3-4 draft beers (Wildbloom & Schilling), cocktails, mocktails and Coke soft drinks. I stopped by Rooted On Main for dinner recently. I was able to sit at an open table. The bartender was also serving tables. I was given the menu to look at. I decided on the Buffalo Lager Mussels ($15 plus tax) and the Burrata & Chicken Gnocchi ($23 plus tax). The Buffalo Lager Mussels had 21 steamed mussels simmered in garlic butter, lager, buffalo sauce, shallots, herbs & Danish bleu cheese crumbles. This mussels were very hot, both temperature and spiciness. Two pieces of grilled ciabatta bread were provided for dipping. The Burrata & Chicken Gnocchi had soft potato gnocchis with lots of rich creamy vodka sauce, 2 pieces of tender grilled chicken, topped with soft burrata & grana cheese, two pieces of grilled ciabatta bread included. While I really enjoyed the spicy and rich food, I requested a container to bring home much of the burrata & chicken gnocchi dish and plenty of vodka sauce too. I got the check which was $41.23 (cash)/$42.88 (card) with tax and before tip. Overall, the food here was served very hot and fresh. The service here was prompt, mussels served in under 10 minutes, followed by the entree 6 minutes afterwards. I will make sure to save some room for dessert next time.

What went wrong? French fries delivered aside one of the two sandwich dishes was luke warm and nearly cold. Fries on the second sandwich dish were regular potatoes but we ordered sweet potato fries. Took 15-20 minutes to fix. Only 1 TV working on NFL playoff football weekend, and this TV was out of view of our table. Another TV located elsewhere was said to be non-operational due to a satellite dish having reception problems related to a couple of inches of "snow." The salmon add-on to the salad was overcooked and dry. So an overcooked salmon salad totaled $32, which are NYC prices for mediocre NH food. Service was very slow. It was a busy Saturday, so we didn't expect speed. What went right? Enjoyed the Brussel Sprouts appetizer. Loved a Czech beer on tap. Wildcat has a very decent tap menu. The overall ambience of the tavern-restaurant was excellent, and we especially appreciated the live music, which featured a guitarist playing 70's - 90's classic rock standards.
