Read the reviews about this place, saying that it was authentic Italian. Took my wife and son there on our last night in Gorham. The food was completely unacceptable. Pasta was overcooked sauce was jarred "mini meatballs" were frozen. Not only that we were not offered the "casual" menu while the 3 tables around us were. I have eaten at more restaurants than most people. Also, the waitress was terrible. We sat with empty glasses of water and didn't have a sip left for our entire meal when asked if we wanted boxes and said no it wasn't good. She offered no input and just handed me the bill. This is by far the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Mind you I am a person that has never returned food or never complained to a server which I also did not do tonight, but this place is garbage. Worst dining experience of my life read more

The wait staff were nice but could not remember our order. Had to ask for wine three times. It arrived as we were finishing dinner. I had the spaghetti with Italian sausage. Sausage had no spices and appeared to have been grilled. Two links were on top of the spaghetti not sliced and cooked in the sauce. Sauce was good but spaghetti was very sticky. Seemed like it had been cooked a few hours earlier. My wife had the eggplant parmigiana. Lots of breading but no eggplant. Her spaghetti was also very sticky and gummy. My mother had the lasagna and said it was good. A lot to improve on the food and service. read more

We picked up takeout from Nonna's after a hike. We ordered the calamari, caprese salad, gnocchi with Alfredo sauce, lasagna with a meatball, eggplant parm, and chicken with linguini. Oh and the chocolate rum cake. Our meal even came with bread. It was pretty delicious. The gnocchi and the eggplant parm were super flavorful. I wasn't super impressed by the lasagna - didn't seem to have much flavor. But the tomato soup was pretty tasty. We also loved how the entrees came with sides. That's a really nice touch. My husband loved the chicken pasta. And the rum cake was soooo delicious. Next time you're in the area, check it out! read more

Pasta was heavenly with excellent 'gravy' ('sauce' for non Italians). Kate our waitstaff was very attentive and let me taste the two different types of Chianti before my selection. My eggplant accompanied by lasagna was AWSOME as was my wife's gnocchi. We are from Boston and very near the north end. Nona's would fit in well there. Had a nice chat with Nona who clearly loves her job and her customers. The eating are was adorned with family pictures and also reminded me of my Nona's' homes. Tuta La famiglia! read more

We were a party of four on a Saturday night. We needed reservations as the place was packed. The rolls came out hot and the olive oil was excellent. Although it was busy, they do an excellent job getting to the tables and making sure you're all set. The drinks are basic and the menu is fairly simple. The pasta is homemade and the sauce was very good. The veal was very tender and tasty with plenty of cheese on it. I got the platter with spaghetti, sausage, meatball, and the braised pork. Everything was excellent! There was a decent sized portion of shredded pork and the flavor in the sausage was perfect. We left stuffed with leftovers and didn't have any room for dessert, which is too bad because the desserts looked amazing. read more

We have gone to Nonna's several times since moving to the NorthCountry! Always greeted like Family, and last night was no exception. It was my birthday, and so we picked Nonna's as our dear friend Kathy is 2nd generation Italian! We had a reservation, and were welcomed I out of the raw, cold evening and immediately seated. I didn't catch our waitstaff's name ( sorry‍), but she was young, professional, engaging, and funny!!! And just attentive enough without being intrusive The amazing owner, Ellen, came to take our drink orders ( to help out her staff), treating us as if we were family , and sitting at HER personal dining room table! Ellen is so warm and welcoming and makes a point of coming to chat at every single table to make sure everyone is happy and often just to say hi! The food was sensational- I asked for a sauce that my husband had had the last time we were there - a "southwestern vodka sauce", which I had over 4 cheese ravioli- that the Chef, Miguel, made deliciously!!!! All of us were happily devouring our dinners And then the entire staff surrounded our table and sang Happy Birthday to me- in Italian!!!!! And the entire dining room ( about 12 people in the front DR- not sure if the rear DR was full/singing...) joined in ( in English)!!!!!! SO much fun . What a cute little spot. The staff is sooooo nice! Upon walking in, the host was so warm and welcoming. We were seated in the smaller room near the kitchen. This place is pretty small, so I recommend making a reservation in case. They have pretty typical Italian pasta dishes, as well as some fish, which is what my friend got (the salmon pesto). I went with the spaghetti & meatballs, but with GF pasta. (Note: their website doesn't state they have GF pasta or cauliflower crust, but they do, just ask for a GF menu!) Pasta was al dente, and wasn't overly drowning in sauce. The meat to sauce ratio was perfect. They already provide grated cheese on the table so you can put as much on as you'd like. As an Italian who loves cooking Italian, I am sometimes very hard to please. I happily write this review sharing what an incredible meal we had at Nonna's while visiting Gorham. So happy we made reservations as it was a busy Thursday night. Our server Kate gave great recommendations and excellent unrushed service. The eggplant parmesan, lasagna and fettuccine alfredo filled our bellies and put smiles on our faces. Great salads and warm bread. Save room for dessert! I didn't think Nonna's quite lived up to the hype. Upon entering, the restaurant was so toasty and warm but unfortunately we did not have a reservation so we were relegated to a back room. I guess in a way like being in Nonna's "kitchen" but I would have preferred to sit at the "big people's table". Our waitress, Patsy, was very nice and efficient. I'm assuming the woman checking in with all the customers was the owner and she was very friendly. The bread was warm although the olive oil for dipping seemed to be just plain olive oil. We ordered calamari with sweet chili sauce and they were nice - just lightly battered. I had tomato basil soup that was excellent - my husband said it was the best tomato soup he had ever had. He had stuffed pepper soup which I did not like but he did. It tasted exactly like stuffed peppers. My husband got the spaghetti and meatball special with provolone cheese. He was impressed with the meatballs saying they were certainly not supermarket meatballs. Here's where it went wrong for me: I got the eggplant parmigiana and it was just covered in sauce. I mean, it was drowning. If I didn't know, I wouldn't have even known what under there. I kind wanted to say something but they were so nice I just couldn't. I ordered a takeout pizza and dropped it as soon as I walked out the door. I went back inside with my pile of pizza in a box & told them what happened. i ordered a replacement & they would not let me pay for it! When we ate the pizza back at our hotel, it was awesome- the crust is the best I've had since I was in Italy! I leave tomorrow morning so I won't make it back this trip- but I sure hope to make it back in the future and dine in since The ambiance is authentic Italian. read more

We were greeted promptly and the service was very good. I had the Casseruola Di Frutti Di Mare and for the price, $30, it was a very small portion. The scallops and with fish were perfectly cooked and flavorful but the shrimp were overcooked and chewy. The add on salad for $5 was decent but super small, barely covered the bottom of the bowl. The wife had the Lasagna. It was good but not many layers and small. The additional meatball was cold. The wife's salad was also extremely small. I had the house Cabernet Sauvignon which was decent and the wife had a cocktail. Overall disappointed especially with all the good reviews. The bill was $110 and we left hungry. read more

A delicious little trattoria style Italian restaurant in the nice little town of Gorham NH...Soft Italian opera playing in the background, dim lighting, and tastefully placed items placed around the restaurant reminded me of small family owned restaurants that I loved to eat at while traveling through Italy in years past. After traveling for eight hours, through four states, without lunch, after perusing the menu at N K seemed like the perfect place to have a great Italian meal. Kayla, my lovely, personable server, did not have to wait to find out what I was ordering, I wanted 'Nonnas' pietta ". This delicious sounding dish reminded me of Sunday gravy, where Nonna's ( Italian for grandmother) start early in the morning simmering their tomato sauce, adding meatballs, sausage, and other delicious meats, possibly various cuts of pork and pork neck bones. This, would slowly cook all day imparting a aroma throughout the house that was ethereal. This dish consisted of sausage, meatball, and braised pork, linguini was my pasta of choice for this wonderful combination to be layered over. The macaroni was cooked perfectly al dente, and was a very delicious, and satisfying meal. Like I mentioned Gorham is a nice little town, but just adding this caveat, Gorham appears to be the motorcycle, atv's, and Polaris capital of the world and was pretty much taken over by the vehicles, adding a incredible amount of traffic, my room at a local hotel was directly adjacent to the main drag which made sleeping problematic... read more

Nonna's Kitchen is a cute little Italian Ristorante that you might never expect to find in a cute little northern town (Gorham, NH) in the Presidential Range. It begins in a beautiful 19th century dining room with many of its original fixtures and tin walls and ceilings. Turns out that the building was a barber shop/bath house used by local loggers bringing timbers up from the river. They could go in get a hair cut and a shave, bathe and rest in one of the upstairs guest rooms. Fast forward to 2021 and it is a quaint little gem of an Italian restaurant with cuisine that rivals the best of Boston's North End. We began with one of the best Caesar salads to be had and then delighted on our main courses. The Veal Parmesan was one of the best and most flavorful I've ever had. We also had Chicken Marsala which again would be right up there with the best I've ever had...if not the best. Both dishes were accompanied by fresh made pasta that was absolutely perfectly prepared. Dinner was followed by a great cappuccino and Affogada that did not disappoint. Incredible food with equally incredible service in a wonderfully historic setting made for both a perfect evening as well as a new place to add to our "go to" list when we visit New Hampshire...which is not frequent enough! Excellent!! The apps and meals were devoured until the breaking point and then there was of course copious left overs. That is except for the eggplant parm and the meatballs. Not a morsel left. That good! The buratta cheese appetizer was magnificent from the buratta itself through to the fresh local tomatoes, Aceto balsamic reduction, and fresh bread. The scallop special of the night was perfectly executed and scrumptious. The eggplant parmigiana is an old family recipe and was devoured. The rigatoni was cooked properly. The child's pasta and meatball dish was enough for two adults. I go for taste and quality, not leftovers. The taste and quality could not have been better. We really enjoyed our meal! I'm Italian so I'm a tough customer, but the sauce was nice. I was torn between the eggplant parmigiana and the lasagna so the sampler was perfect. The meatball was just ok. The bread was warm, fresh, and yummy! The veal parmigiana was good as well. The children's portion of spaghetti was enormous. We also enjoyed the mussels. Great Italian food, Fresh and well seasoned. The Cioppino was incredible with lots of little neck clam, mussels, shrimp and a tasteful haddock all cooked to perfection. The ravioli and with their homemade meatball were heavenly. Excellent service and had a very nice 2015 Chianti that was perfect with both our meal. Love everything about Nonna's; from the ambience , service and food. Everything to make us travel all the way from Boston to come back here again . I've ordered the Nonna's piatta. The Braised pork was so tender, meatball was firm yet juicy and the Italian sausage, which was my favourite was well marinated. Pasta and sauce were of course perfect.
