It's more of a bar that sells wings than it is A restaurant that sells beer. Rough n rowdy crowd that is marginally well behaved. All the smoking on the front porch is unappealing. They have live music on occasion. I did not care for any of the wings on the varied menu. I felt like they were good for quantity rather than quality. (you can get all the same flavor, or try out different ones). i first ordered the hot wings and thai wings. the hot wings were not hot at all. and the thai wings were pretty deep fried. (overly). the french fries were really good though (i like the wedges where its more potato than fried). The 2nd order of wings i got were atomic. unfortunately, didn't get to eat them, as the group was leaving, but took them to go. The quality of the wings has declined. Went to lunch with friends and was appalled at the quality of the wings! They raised their prices, cut their lunch special and are now serving wings that are so small it's almost embarrassing to call them wings. There's so little meat on the bones, It's the first time I left still hungry! The wings and drumettes are embarrassingly small that the only thing Wild Wings should do is to change the name of the restaurant to Tiny Wings. A once great restaurant with fabulous wings has fallen so far to the bottom that unless they improve the next step would be to close the doors. I heard that Wing Stop and Buffalos have better wings. We stopped in here for lunch one day while I was visiting my parents. On a Saturday afternoon, it was really difficult to find a restaurant that was open in the historic Gainesville area. This place was close by and who doesn't like wings?? The wings were good, we liked them. The portions were enormous and there was definitely enough food. Our kids split the kids menu pizza which came with a side of fries. Between the two of them, they could not finish it. We also split a wrap sandwich (the Bufferella) that was really disappointing. It was soggy and cold and the fried chicken strips had a bad texture. I would stick with wings and fries. Our service was terrible. I think the waitron didn't want our table because it had kids. Halfway thru the wings, I asked for some more ranch, which I never got. In my opinion, it is critical to have enough ranch for your wings. Unforgivable in my book. read more

While vacationing in Gainesville GA, Janelle and I had the privilege of enjoying a little dinner at the Wild Wing Cafe just a couple of blocks from our hotel. Positioned within a historic 2-story brick building, I knew that we were going to enjoy the evening to the fullest. After all, the name "Wild Wing Cafe" was an accurate description of the fun, food and ambiance we were about to experience inside. Adorned with plank wood floors, brick walls, and TV monitors positioned throughout, this 2-story sports bar is the perfect venue for groups large and small. I noticed a stage that can be used for live entertainment or some good ole' fashioned karaoke--although we were probably too early on a Friday night to participate in those types of festivities. Fortunately, we were just in time for $2.40 Margaritas for Happy Hour. The menu was extensive. There were pages upon pages of various fare from which to choose. It was difficult to narrow down what I wanted, but trusted my instincts to order what I craved the most--wings with the "Slayer" hot sauce. (Supposedly, it was a hot garlic wing sauce that could help Buffy slay those vampires! All-in-all, there had to be more than 25 different wing sauces... Yum!) Janelle had the Queso and Grilled Spicy Chicken in an edible bowl with tortilla chips for dipping. Trust me, the food was incredible and the prices were even better! This is one restaurant that everyone needs to experience. Currently, they are located primarily in Georgia, the Carolinas, Tennessee and Virginia. They also have a location in Michigan and one in Jacksonville, Florida. I may not get to north Georgia again for quite some time, but perhaps I can drive two hours to Jacksonville and do it again! I am giving 2 stars based on customer service and business model. The food is good, I've never had anything that was particularly worth complaining about but the service at this location leaves much to be desired. They use to offer a wing bar for lunch that was perfect for anybody on a tight schedule or anyone not wanting to spend half the day. They now offer "all you can wing" in place of the wing bar. Seems legit until you realize it takes 30 minutes for the first order of wings. It's laughable for management to think any working professional on their lunch break would have ample time to take advantage of the "all you can eat" wings. When I have brought this up, they're solution is to order more when the first round comes out. Management seems disconnected from the customer base. I've never had a manager ask about my food or experience, or even seen a manager. I've been to many different wild wing locations around the southeast and this is the most poorly managed by far. I love bad food - and by bad I mean delicious but not so great for the arteries or the waist line. Wild Wing Cafe does bad food very good. Probably heresy, but I've never had the wings at Wild Wings - they just aren't my thing. Primarily a bar, they do have some amazing, fully loaded handmade potato chips slathered in bacon and cheddar cheese with a touch of ranch that are to die for that I like to start with. I also adore burgers and they can make a juicy patty that drips down to your elbows - try the bacon egg and cheeseburger for some heart-stopping deliciousness. There are healthier choices, like salads, wraps and "chicken feathers" - grilled chicken on skewers that I have been told are quite tasty - but why bother with calorie counts when all that bacon and grease are waiting to tempt your palate! That said, their servers aren't the brightest, it can take a while to get served and the place is insanely loud whether you go for lunch or a late night so don't expect to have a conversation. Just go when you have a lot of time and a craving for some good bad food and a cold beer. read more

This past weekend I had some friends come through town and when everyone mentioned they were hungry, I suggested Wild Wing Cafe. I mean who doesn't love wings and beer right? So I have been there before being a local, and I would say the service is typical hit or miss. However; this past Sunday when my group and I came in we were seated and given a horrible waiter right off. It was one of those situations where you knew he wasn't in the mood to be there and it wasn't going to be a great experience. Well after 10 minutes we finally ordered drinks, then 35 min in the drinks arrived after having to flag down another waitress to check on them. A few minutes later we ordered our appetizers but was not allowed to order our food at that time per our waiter. Once he finally stopped popping the other waitress with a towel he came back by after we flagged him down again and took our order. Our order was (4) 12 piece boneless wings & he confirmed with everyone as we ordered we wanted nuggets not wings and then he went to put it in. Finally our appetizer came out and instead of the Nacho Supreme we got a different style but after over an hour wait we were starving so we just ate them. During this time we flagged down 2 separate waitresses for refills, and we all agreed they were all very helpful and prompt. Finally our food comes out, and we are excited to eat after an hour and 15 minutes, and WHAT? all of our orders come out wings NOT nuggets. So the food runner takes them back. By this point we have not seen our waiter for almost 30 minutes at our table, only as he walks by chatting with his co-workers. So THEN our food comes out and its correct this time; however our nuggets all taste like BBQ nuggets rolled in our specified sauce. We had requested extra dipping sauce since 1 small paper dip cup would come close to covering 12 nuggets. When he finally brings it out he drops 1 in my friends lap as he puts it in her face, without even an apology, and when blu-cheese is requested he say's "REALLY" huffs then walks off. By this point we have requested from one of the ladies to send the manager to our table. When the manager arrives he ask what the problem is and we begin this same story with him. His response is: Well I'm sorry you felt you didn't get better service and just know orders get messed up all the time & he walks away. Nothing said or done, no offers of compensating for anything that came out wrong nor for the wait, just walks away. After paying our $73.00 bill and tipping .95 cents we walked out pissed and can say we will ALL share this experience with anyone and everyone whom ask about Wild Wings in Gainesville. So if you choose to eat here avoid the ugly nerdy manager with glasses who stays in the back office, as well as the chubby waiter who wears the backwards cap. read more
