Steel Town Spuds: taters topped with ranch, bacon & melted cheese
Justin V.

It's been a long time since I've been to Wild Wing Cafe. I used to frequent this spot back when I worked in food service - this was a hangout for the Outback Kempsville crew and I would regularly hang out with them (along with my coworkers at the permanently closed Outback Waterside). The food was good, the service was solid - perfect ingredients for fun times with each visit. WWC, though, was a casualty of me changing careers. A friend, though, took me here for my birthday last June - we talked about WWC and he wanted to check them out (because he's never dined there before). He didn't know they existed. After that visit, I'm glad to report their food is still solid while their service is fantastic. We started with an appetizer - Steel Town Spuds (taters topped with ranch, bacon & melted cheese). This is basically a nachos dish with tots instead of tortilla chips. We enjoyed this as we ate all of it. I had their wings lunch special, which is 8 wings & a side (potato wedges). They have a variety of sauces - I opted for a teriyaki sauce. The wings were cooked perfectly, while the sauce complimented the wings. I love potato wedges - WWC's are fantastic. I could've eaten just the wedges and I would've been happy. My friend and I shared a dessert - fried dough. In addition to it being so dang good, this was lighter than I expected. Still, I was full (I didn't finish my entree) and found myself force-eating. It was worth it, though! Our server, Willow (yes, I confirmed she was named after Alyson Hannigan's character on Buffy the Vampire Slayer), was kind, efficient and fast. If nothing else, I'd return because of her service. Wild Wing Cafe has been around for a minute. I'm glad they're still open for business - their wings are still excellent, and service is perfect. This birthday lunch was a success and I thank WWC for accomplishing that feat. Thank you! JV

The outside and bathroom was clean but our table was a little dirty. Service was great, the young lady was very attentive. The food was great and tasted wonderful!

We had dinner recently at Wild Wing Cafe, located at 1437 Sam's Drive, near Sam's Club in the heart of Chesapeake. They were fairly busy but despite that, our experience was very good overall. Our server was attentive without hovering. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and everyone in our group left full and satisfied. We had the 25 Wing sampler and it came out piping hot and delicious. A word of caution, the Atomic Sauce is no joke. I really enjoyed it, but it is very spicy. Check out Wild Wing Cafe, you'll be happy that you did and you can rest assured that you are supporting our local restaurant community.

15 wings with Bleu cheese.

I met an old friend since it's near her place and she was in the mood for wings. I ordered 15 wings with three sauces: Sriracha honey lime, raging Cajun, and the Boss, the latter of which is a dry rub. Temperature wise the wings were pretty lukewarm. But they came with three ramekins of bleu cheese, more than I needed, but it tasted really good. The Boss was by far my least favorite, and I'm usually a big fan of dry rubs, This just had an overly strong mesquite flavor and the spices tasted a little bit burnt. Not a fan. The Sriracha honey lime were quite good, they had a blend of sweet and a little bit spicy. The Cajun was a decent sauce, but I was expecting a tad more heat on them. With a soft drink, it was $26 before tip. Not the worst wing experience, but nothing I'd go out of my way for.

I've been in Chesapeake for 5 years and just recently found out about this place. The service is friendly and the food is great. Some of the best wings I've ever had. So many sauces to choose from. Today I tried their mushroom Swiss burger. Mmmmm.. with the garlic sauce on it dang good. Onion rings a plus! It's easy to miss this place with it being tucked away in the corner on Sam's Circle. But nobody puts baby in the corner and gets away with it. Just for added oomph, plenty of TV's to watch your favorite team get embarrassed.

My favorite wing place! WWC makes the best jalapeño cheddar wings which are addictive. They are only in 7 states and if I'm any of them I look to see if I'm close enough to visit. The service is always on point and the staff has no problems with you asking for additions to a meal. Now there are TVs everywhere so if you are sports adverse beware and there are trivia nights and live music nights. So extrovert heaven is the atmosphere in this place.

I ordered takeout around 10 PM on Halloween. I ordered 2 sets of 6 wings. One was lemon pepper and the other Buffalo. I also ordered an appetizer of Buffalo shrimp. My food was done in 25 mins. I really enjoyed the tangy, lemon pepper wings. If you order takeout, always remember to stir the wing sauce as it can separate. My first wing tasted more like butter, so I had to mix the wings & then the flavor was great. Spot on! The buffalo wings were lacking sauce in my opinion. They needed more. The fried buffalo shrimp & buffalo wings were decent, but I've had better. If you're a sauce person, you may want to go elsewhere for request they go heavy on the sauce. My biggest pain point was a their website. It was not a good user experience and had too many technical issues. I could not access the menu. I had to rely on Google and looking at screenshots of customers who posted the menu. The website needs to be revamped for better functionality.

Extremely disappointed. This is not the first time we get the wings completely over cooked. This was our wing spot but who knows what has happened and they have just gone downhill. We ordered blue cheese they gave us all ranch. We kept giving them a second chance time after time but not worth it anymore. Just truly disappointing.

Love their wings. I decided to venture out of my jalapeno cheddar and china syndromed flavored wings. I ordered the Nashville hot. I typically LOVE anything Nashville hot. However, this was very disappointing. I mean, don't get me wrong. I ate them....but I had to lather them up with hot sauce. Now the waiter stated that it was a hit or miss because of the breading. It might must of been a miss. Buuuuuttt.....I'll still come back and keep my regular order :)

It's in the same group of buildings such as Michael's (around the corner). My visit here was on October 27, 2025. The outside view of the business is simple, but effective. They have a specials chalkboard next to the entrance. Parking wasn't an issue on this visit, but I'm sure it can fill up at busier times. My mom and I were both in the area as she wanted to go to the Michael's store here. When we came inside, it wasn't busy, as it was around 3:30 pm when we got here. We were greeted by the one who would be our server for this visit. He gave us menus to look at and asked us for our drink orders. I generally stick with water with lemon, which I did here. We were there during the time where it was still the lunch menu (though for us, it was more like dinner for us that day). When he came back with the drinks, he asked if we were ready to order, but we weren't just yet. He also asked if we had any questions about the menu and options and gave us more time to mull over the menu. When he came back, we weren't completely ready, but asked a question about the specials of the day. After that, we knew what we would get and placed our food order. My mom ordered the Meatloaf Lunch Special with mashed potatoes and spinach. I went with the Meatball Sub Lunch Special with mashed potatoes, though I don't normally do potatoes that often. After about ten minutes or so, the food came to the table. The food looked really good, and it was hot too. The bread for the Meatball Sub was very soft and easy to eat. The meatballs were huge and made for a worthy meal. The mashed potatoes with gravy was really good and fulfilling too. My mom loved the meatloaf, and their meatloaf doesn't have ketchup on it like some other places do. She loved the meatloaf, spinach, and mashed potatoes too. After we were done, he asked if we wanted any desserts. We both declined as I normally don't do them anymore. Overall, we both had an excellent experience here. The food and service were on point. The food I had that day did spike my blood sugars, but I expected that with bread and mashed potatoes. I don't make a habit of that though. They are a great local business. There are lots of food options to choose from. If you are looking for a place to eat while in this part of Chesapeake, this place is worth coming to.

So, I was hopeful that the WXYZ lounge and bar in Chesapeake would be similar and provide a great atmosphere to get together for a fun, chill hangout with our friends. We were not disappointed. There was ample seating and a large table where we were able to share a meal and play board games. The lounge has games in the lobby area, which we weren't expecting, but was nice to see. We had brought our own games. My friend ordered a mocktail and enjoyed it. The four of us ordered chicken buffalo dip and fish and chips to share. I couldn't eat the chicken buffalo dip because I have a dairy allergy, but everyone said it was good. I did really enjoy the fish and chips. The fries were hot, thick, and well seasoned. The cod was very tasty as well, the skin was perfectly crispy but the meat was tender inside. While we didn't take pictures of the menu this time, I took a look at the menu online and there are some options listed on the website that were not printed on the physical menus we saw, but for what was the same the prices matched. The fish and chips isn't on the website but was on the physical menu and was affordable (two pieces or cod and ample fries). Our server (also the bartender) was nice and provided good service. The hours that they're open make it a great hangout spot for Friday nights and weekends. The restrooms are clean. The noise level was moderate and fine. We definitely recommend for hanging out with friends and will be coming back in the future.

Always a great time rain or shine!…read more I don't even know how long this series has been going on, but I will take a guess and say at least a decade! For as long as I can remember, the city of Portsmouth (Old Towne area) hosts 'Sunset Thursdays' starting in June or July. Every Thursday a different band, usually local is featured and starts entertaining the crowd at 6pm. It is free to sit and listen. But bring some cash, vendors are on site. And if none of the vendors interest you, the site this year is walking distance to downtown, the High Street area. This street offers plenty to eat - sit down and take out options. Or if you are feeling the need, pack a bag and bring your own food and drink. I have been out on Thursdays to several events and each time is a treat! Bands of all genres are featured. See the list for this year - https://portsvaevents.com/event/sunset-thursdays-2022/2022-07-07/ In case link does not work - this is line up for 2022: June 16th RaJazz (R&B, Jazz) June 23rd Island Boy (Hard Rock, Country, Funk) June 30th Slapnation (Rock, Jazz, Reggae) July 7th The Original Rhondels (Beach, 70's, 80's) July 14th Michael Clark Band (Rock, R&B, Disco) July 21st BrassWind (Beach, Pop, Motown, R&B, Rock, Funk, Soul) July 28th TFC Band (Motown, Soul, R&B, Funk, Oldies, Beach) August 4th Soul Intent (Beach, 70s, 80s & Rock) August 11th Better By Tuesday (R&B, Jazz, Funk) August 18th 2nd Wynd (R&B, Reggae, Jazz, Rock) August 25th J & The Band (Top 40, Classic Rock, Beach, Funk, Oldies) September 1st Revelation (R&B, Rock, Funk, Reggae) September 8th Hot Cakes (Country, Rock, 70's, 80's, 90's) If you love live music, you should definitely come out and enjoy. Bring your own lawn chair because chairs are not provided or if you are fortunate enough, pull up in your boat or jet ski and listen to the sounds from the water view. Such a great time for the young and old. Parking...garages are nearby and street parking is available. Have fun and enjoy life :)
