This place is delicious and the bakery is awesome. Love it. I get the eggs benedict every time I come here. It's always perfectly cooked and the hollandaise was wonderful. read more

I have been to wild wheat many times in the last 7 years. The last few times I've gone I ask myself why I choose to spend my money there. I live in the Des Moines area and have several options for a breakfast spot. I give it two stars for ambiance, large windows, train tracks and historical down town kent feeling. The food is okay nothing amazing For the price I expect better service. Rebecca took care of my husband and I this morning and service was subpar. By no means was it her fault. She had 7 tables to her self, this is poor management and hosting. As soon as we sat down it felt rushed, we didnt get her name or a warm welcome. She didn't write our order down and forgot a side order of bacon, not a huge deal we would have gladely reminded her but she didn't check back in until she was ready to drop our check. Our coffee never got refilled. She was busy, she looked busy, we felt rushed and for the money I could go some where else and get okay food and better service. I understand things happen, they were short staffed. (Maybe someone called in sick) 1 busier and It looked like only two servers in a full restaurant but thats when a host should quote a wait time, give the server time to catch up and not take so many tables. This is restaurant 101. The guest will get better service, the kitchen will run smoother and the server won't be so busy that they can't give proper service. In this day in age they need to step it up a notch and give great service that matches their expensive prices. I still tipped Rebecca 20%, it was not her fault. On my way out I asked for a comment card but they do not offer those to customers. And then I asked to speak to the owner because I had noticed he was in the building. The host told me he was busy grinding coffee beans? I asked if he could get him for me and he said he couldn't. I asked for a business card and it had no email address. Even went on their website, still no email address. I wanted to let a manager or the owner know some of my concerns and suggestions but that was not an easy thing to do. So here I am to forwarn others and maybe someone from wild wheat looks at these reviews and takes them into consideration. Maybe not. Was this a horrible experience? No. Was it an enjoyable expiernce? No. Was it worth my money? No. Wild wheat has LOADS of potential but need to step it up. You usually only have one chance to give a good impression. Every guest matters. When my husband and I have a day off and want to enjoy a breakfast out we will choose to spend our $50 else where. read more

Great coffe ! And they bake their own bread its amazingly good I am glad I got introduced to this place since I had been looking for a good breakfast/lunch place that is not a chain , I had the eggs Benedict wich were very good nice presentation , a bit pricey but I will be back . read more

Visited here with my fiancé and we had the Portobello Mushroom omelette and French Toast. To be honest both were a bit Underwhelming. The place was super crowded and we saw some good reviews, so perhaps we just ordered the wrong thing! Suggest trying something else :) read more

Me & my husband went on a monday morning & it was our first time, the atmosphere is not comfortable & our waiter spent more time talking than waiting, the eggs Florentin was so incredibly salty i could only eat half but i ordered a danish to ease the salty & that was very good. I also felt it was way over priced for the tast. read more

This local hangout is just very average. Their baked goods are okay. I had breakfast with a friend and it was super loud I had heard how wonderful it was so I expected more. I found it to be just average except for the prices which were much higher than average and for average or smaller portion sizes. The food was pretty average and for sure nothing special. I likely won't be back because I'll be at Maggie's enjoying my breakfast read more

Bad coffee, super sweet! Bad service - everyone was running around and didn't know what they were doing, this guy would make coffee and put it on the bar and some random waiter would pick it up and run around the place because they are so unorganized they had no idea whose coffee it was or what table it was for. I did not eat because I was so annoyed we just left and when somewhere else read more

Someone recommended this place to me and wow the best breakfast food I've ever had!! The service is great as well.

There's a reason for it not to be uncommon to see long waiting lines at Wild Wheat. The quality of the food and the service are always top-notch. This place--hands down--has the best breakfast in south King county. read more

this place is absolutely horrible. on busy days, the employees seem like they cannot catch a break (possibly due to being understaffed). food is not good. food safety is handled in the worst way. i've spotted lipstick stains on "clean" glasses and built up food on silverware. absolutely disgusting. do not support this business. read more

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Dungeoness Crab omelette is AMAZING!!! Been back every day since we've been in the area. The raspberry jam on the table is soooo good i swear they lace it with something addictive lol Eggs Benedict was delicious and differant than the run of the mill benes. Dont even think about eating breakfast anywhere else in the area. read more

We were going to go to the sushi place down the street, but they were cash only. While we were walking by trying to think of alternative places to eat we saw how busy this place was and decided to try it. It took about 10 minutes to be seated probably because it was Mother's Day, and while we waited we got a Danish to try. The Danish was apple and cheese and was pretty delicious. It was flaky and had been brushed with a wash before baking to give it a golden brown. Once we were seated I ordered a chai and raisin bread french toast with a side of bacon while my fiance got coffee and an herb and cheese omelette with peasant bread toast. Our hostess was very nice. Our food arrived promptly except they forgot my bacon which we had to remind them about. The French toast was sweet and flavorful, but almost borderline too sweet (might be the maple syrup). The bacon was crispy which I really appreciated. My fiance thoroughly enjoyed his omelette and he normally is picky about omelettes. The peasant bread was slightly tough but flavor wise really good. I would go here again. read more

Came here for breakfast yesterday with my family and some friends. We called ahead and made reservations so no wait. They were very accomodating since we originally thought 7, then it was 8, and finally we ended up with 11 people. The food came out quickly and was hot and tasty. We had eggs bene, eggs florentine, and a mushroom onion omelette among our order. Some of the folks split their order which is nice because you get a little more of the sides for the small split place fee so I think it's worth it. The omelette was fluffy, potatoes were seasoned just right and the currant hazelnut bread toast was so good! Afterwards, our server asked us how we would like her to split the bill up. Like I said- everything was very accomodating and friendly. Little spendy but worth it in my opinion! PS- They have a coupon in the 2010 Entertainment Book. read more

so i do this rarely, but i need to for this place cause they have some petty standards for some things: i ordered the continental breakfast, dunno why; but the fruit side for one was very weak, and the ONE strawberry i was given had some mold on it-which, hey i understand- but they were overly skimpy with the fruit, in all- the toast: not very toasty, kinda tough- great preserves last gripe is the coffee- it's waaaay too weak. hopefully i got a bad batch but i firmly believe you should not be able to see through a pot of coffee. i do like this place, it is good and the pastries are insane: which is why i hope they up their game. just a lil more- read more

Great spot to catch brunch and enjoy good coffee. It was a bit loud in the restaurant as it is all one room. I had the eggs Florentine which I highly recommend. Although I didn't finish my meal at the restaurant, I immediately did when I got home. Can't wait to come back! read more

pros: delicious breakfast. cozy setting. amazing lattes. great ambiance and aromas wifting throughout the place. friendly service. and romantic on a rainy sunday morning. cons: not the cheapest place ($50 breakfast tab after gratuity - two omeletes and two coffees). street parking is sometimes hard to find. and romantic mood dies when the train passes thru (which is much more often than not) read more

Went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Not the most vegan friendly but I left full. My fiance (who is not vegan) loved the hash he had so much that he replicated it at home! Fun downtown location, indoor and outdoor seating. Right next to the train track so it gets noisy but it is fun. Seems like a fun family place. read more

Wild Wheat is on the cutest vintage street. Had breakfast with my girlfriends and loved it. I had the two eggs with potatoes, toast & bacon. Everything was cooked to perfection. The place was decorated cute with art even on sale. I didn't get the chance to try the pastries, but you bet I'll be going back to try those! read more

5/5 - food is great and staff is friendly. Be prepared for a bit of a wait but it's worth it! This has officially become our local breakfast place. read more

The omelettes are delicious! So much flavor. My breakfast was so good. Love how my sourdough toast was fresh. (: The iced mochas are also really good! You have to bring a friend so you can share 2 dishes: the stolen French toast and the eggs benedict. They are they best things on the menu.

This is my Go To restaurant for breakfast, without a doubt. The best quality egg dishes and potatoes anywhere! If you love homemade, fresh, and tasteful food this is the place to go. The best Hollandaise sauce anywhere, truly. It's always a winner to get the crab/asparagus omelette, especially for the big hunks of crab, and did I mention Hollandaise? The benedict is amazing, as you can get eggs any style, shaved ham, and artisan bread instead of English muffin. And Hollandaise. The baked goods as good as they look, and the bread is authentic. You can't go wrong here, whether you're in the mood for eggs, oatmeal, or lox. read more

I had heard about this place having delicious pastries from my roommate so I figured that 1) if they have yummy pastries why not sit down and try their actual food 2) if they are charging $10 for just a plate of french toast it must be good... oh how wrong I am... first red flag was their drip coffee tastes like it is the second brewing of the grounds. Second red flag was when the French Toast came out with a slice of watermelon as a garnish (I'm not sure when that became a thing) but I am extremely allergic and it isn't listed on their menu. Third red flag, most importantly, is that the French Toast is gross... I am a large person and not very picky about food (and only write yelp reviews if it is just unbearable) and I only ate about 3 bites. The waitress completely ignored the fact that I had only had a couple bites then pushed the plate away and have only had a couple sips of coffee and brought me the check... cute place but awful customer awareness and food. I'm gonna pay for this mess and go to McDonald's for better coffee and breakfast. *UPDATE* I am not trying to be dramatic BUT I live less than 10 minutes away and was unable to make it home before my tummy started to churn and i had to pull over... please management, fix this before someone else gets sick!!! read more

Had breakfast here on Sunday during Kent Cornucopia Days. The eggs Benedict was amazing. The sauce is perfect! Had it with bacon instead of the ham. The potatoes were great as well. Portion sizes is large! read more

I like this place. The food is a little above average, but I don't think I've had anything here that knocked my socks off. Then again, I've been here for lunch a couple times and breakfast a couple times. I don't think I've gotten any of the baked goods, so I cannot comment on them. The menu tends to be a bit limited. I always seem to have trouble ordering, mainly because of the limited menu. They seem more oriented to the organic, free-range, neo-hippy set. You can't get pancakes, but you can get buckwheat pancakes. There are no hashbrowns to speak of, but you can get some version of pan-fried potatoes. I'm not saying it's not good, but I don't really think it's for me. The service tends to be very hit or miss. The last time I was there, my waitress was attentive, and there were no errors. The time before, I had to send a couple things back that were wrong, and I never got a refill. I also had to flag down someone to get the check. read more

I've lived in Kent half of my life and I don't know why it took me so long to come here even after hearing many good things. It did live up to my expectation, which I was really nervous about, the food was good, the coffee was good, the atmosphere was good. I got the Eggs Florentine and the mocha, would recommend both! read more

If the heavenly smell of freshly baked bread doesn't pull you in, then the delicious breakfast specialties should. I had a delicious benedict with smoked salmon -- the lox was soft and not too salty, and the hollandaise was rich and fresh (though maybe a bit too lemony for my taste; YMMV). Service was suuuuper friendly (maybe a little too chipper for my groggy self early on a Monday morning), but all in all a great experience. If I lived on the south side, I'd probably be here a lot. :) read more

Adorable restaurant in downtown Kent! Had lunch here yesterday with my friend and her little one. The restaurant has lots of seating, great options for lunch. Lots of salads, sandwiches, soups, and more. Service was quick and friendly. I ordered the veggie sandwich (fresh mozz, tomato, and lettuce on grilled kalamata olive bread) with lentil soup. It was the perfect amount of lunch. My friend ordered the pear gorgonzola salad and it looked fantastic. Awesome option for a quick, healthy meal. read more

Very disappointed. Usually it's fantastic. Today we stopped to pick up some yummy treats, bought 1 each of every cookie (7) plus 1 eklair. Everyone of them stale, inedible. The host said he discounted cuz We're regulars. He should have said their old, still want them? read more

I originally gave this place 3 stars. Went again and I would have upped it to four -- my French toast was delicious -- but the price! I still cannot get over it. Sorry, I can see you are popular and you try to use better-quality ingredients....but the prices could probably all be decreased by at least $1 or more. It is just too expensive for what you get. But hey, I'm sure I'll be back someday to finally try their eggs benedict. Just not anytime soon....I'll have to save up for it. If I could give them 3.5 stars I would do that at least. read more

Went here with my husband for lunch. After reading all the good reviews about their breakfast, I wish we would've gone earlier! The service was amazing and I gotta say that I LOVED the free fresh bread (lol). Their hot chocolate is amazing. I thought my entree was okay (it was chicken and prosciutto linguine in white wine sauce) but a little heavy on the wine. My hubby loved his pastrami sandwich. We had a slice of chocolate mousse cake and an apple beignet for dessert... so yummy! We really look forward to coming back for breakfast. Also I agree that this place is a little pricey. It was $60 after tip for our drinks, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts for lunch. Ouch. read more

Came here for breakfast on out way back to California from Seattle by a recommendation. I really enjoyed my breakfast and the atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. It did not disappoint. I loved the lemon infused sauce. The coffee (drip) was also very good. I hate it when coffee has a bitter taste and this coffee was very smooth. Overall, I am glad we stopped by. It was a great ending to our trip. read more

I had the Chocolate Ganesh cake O MY GOD it was SOOOOOO good!!!! 6 stars. I got a Russian tea cookie and macaroon for later and they were both 4 stars. The loaf of rosemary bread was just ok, maybe even 2 stars that is why I give them 4. read more

This is one of my most favorite places to have breakfast! I'm obsessed with their eggs benedict because I love how lemon-y their hollandaise is. The stollen french toast is AMAZING, but be prepared because it's a pretty big portion. I love the potatoes that come with most breakfasts too. Their coffee is also delish, and the jam on the tables is great! I've never had a bad meal or experience here! read more

The food is great, but the wait from order time to when the food finally arrives is always soooo looonnnnnnnngggg.

Coffee was divine! Food was really good. Hubby got the crab and asparagus omelette, I got the French toast. Yum! Service was decent. A bit expensive though. read more

First I want to say that the first couple of times I came here it was pretty good, but lately not so good. They really need to figure out a way to keep the cold air from the constant opening of the front door from impacting customers trying eat. When it gets busy it seems like staff is running around aimlessly and the food quality gets bad. Last weekend we went for breakfast and it was busy as usual, when our food arrived my "toast" termed used loosely was just warmed up bread. I had to ask for it to be actually toasted. My quiche was barely luke warm and the same could be said about my friends Eggs Florentine. Then there were the potatoes, all I can say is wow really??? They were also barely warm and not even crispy in fact they were pretty gross. Not sure I'll be back. read more

We made a big mistake eating here and trying to have a meeting. I couldn't hear what the other people were saying. The food was nothing to really write home about nor does it make me want to come back. The coffee, though, was memorable. I would come back and have a cup of coffee. read more
