This is simply the best place in Kent for breakfast that I have found so far. A little pricey for the area. Only certain items are worth the high price. I would give 5 stars but they really do need new flatware, cheap cheap. The knives can barely cut through their bread that is used for their Eggs Benedict. Please get new flatware or next time I'm going to bring my own knife. Thanks. read more

As long as I've been living in Kent (up until recently), Wild Wheat has been my go-to breakfast place. Consistently excellent food, great coffee, and fresh baked goods. It doesn't get much better than Wild Wheat. First and foremost, the breads and pastries are top notch. I frequently swing by for the house made baguettes, challah bread, and croissants. The tarts, cakes, and cookies are perfect to take home and eat later, if they make it that far. The service is always speedy and friendly. If you go on a Sunday morning, you may have to wait for a table but its worth waiting for. I always order coffee because it is roasted in house and is smooth and rich. The cafe-type drinks are lovely, I usually go for the cappuccino. The menu stays pretty constant (no special usually) but has a variety. I will say that the breakfast menu is better than the lunch menu. The Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine are hard to beat. The hollandaise sauce is made fresh and is creamy, lemony, and rich. The eggs are poached perfectly and its served atop toast. The best part though, is the home fries. Perfectly seasoned and browned on the griddle, these potatoes are cooked perfectly, not too hard or too mushy. It's easily my favorite thing at Wild Wheat. I also recommend the quiche or the Dungeness Crab and Asparagus Omelette, which sounds weird but is delicious! The lunch menu is also diverse in options and contains many hidden gems. Like the Tempura vegetables, which has a light and crispy batter surrounding tender veggies or the Turkey Sandwich with Cranberry sauce, which reminds me of leftover Thanksgiving Turkey sandwiches. Some of the items are sub-par (pasta) but if you stick to the breakfast menu you can't go wrong. Wild Wheat is one of my favorite places to eat at home and worth visiting if you're in the area! read more

Rated high on yelp for Brunch...but breakfast is not served after 11AM! We got there at 11:05 and I was given the breakfast menu. When the waitress came to take our order she said it was too late to order breakfast. I ordered the Quiche that was on the "lunch" menu. It was a small wedge that was dry and heavy. It came with a salad that was very plain. My daughter ordered the chicken salad, again not good. Will not be going back. I really wanted to like it. read more

I wanted to be amazed by the breakfast here but it sadly seemed average. Positive aspects would be that their toast was delicious. Slightly disappointed the the hot chocolate as well. Somehow it felt rich and watery all at the same time. If I come back I'll probably try the baked goods and buy a loaf of bread. They looked amazing. Probably overpriced for the quality of what we had. read more

I love the baked goods and their delightful breakfast menu. I don't get to go often, but I am never disappointed when I do.

We came here for brunch on a Saturday at 10:30am. The restaurant was very busy at this time, and like other's have mentioned, it was pretty loud. We tried the stollen french toast and crab omelette, both of which were super tasty. The best however was the desserts we took home for later. The chocolate mousse was out of this world delicious. The scones we took home were just ok, a little bit dry. read more

Best breakfast/lunch place in Kent. I have been going here since I have moved here year and half. When my out of town friends&relatives come to visit I bring them here. My favorite dishes is the egg florentine, chicken tostadas and any one of the baked goods. There will be times I would just to stop in to pick up some baked goodies. read more

This place is a little pricey but the food is fabulous. The ambiance and the service was welcoming and homey which makes me want to come back for sure! I ordered a mocha and the eggs benedict. Husband ordered crab eggs benedict and a drip coffee. The food was tasty, their hollendauise sauce was to die for and their potatoes were crispy and cooked perfectly. The meal was outstanding and the coffee was not bitter but strong and smooth, perfect cup of joe. One of my new favorite breakfast spots. Worth giving it a try! read more

I stopped through today, as I read all the great things about their brunch. Guess I didn't realize brunch wasn't everyday. Boo! Well I got a burger (no bun) and a side salad with the house balsamic dressing. Both were good but I was so disappointed to not get the yummy omelet I had picked out. read more

Super busy on a Saturday but it's expected for their popularity and service was somewhat slower because of it. Came in with a group of six and waited a longer than one would like. This place is hip, kicking and with it and a very popular weekend breakfast joint. If you are in the mood to get in and get out, hit up Denny's. The menu choice is narrow and limited in choice. You won't find much variation among what they offer. I ended up ordering eggs, toast and a fruit bowl with coffee and had a so/so experience with my food. The flavor for was above average for my main meal and the coffee enjoyable but because of how busy the place was and how large our group was the food was served lukewarm and the toast was like a brick. If a down town urbany feel is your thing Wild Wheat is your place to be. read more

Great staff, great service, great taste, great options- every time I've visited over the years (1-2x month). I wish a few more options for the kids breakfast, and seating by front door gets chilly in cold seasons, but those are small recommendations on what's an overall very solid establishment. They've recently expanded their house due to all the business and I hope they continue to entertain later hours - it's a cafe, sure, but I'd love to dine for dinner here one day, as well. read more

This is a place you need to stay away from if you don't like to be overcharged and yelled at for their mistake. I had a group of 11 people come in to eat, it took them over 30 mins just to give us water and once we ordered we had to wait another 40 mins -1 hr for our food which is not that big of a deal but before placing our order we already told the server the way our checks will be split because she had asked. When we asked for the check she came by and gave my table our check and I handed her my card and stated for her to go ahead and take it and I'll pay for everyone at my table (3 people). She proceeds to tell me that she had printed 8 tabs to still give my friends. When she comes back I find out she put everyone's tab on my card (which is not a big deal) but as I looked at the tab it had shown items that we did not order as well. I went and asked her about it and she tried to make up numbers on our tab. Keep in mind the charge was $374 but when I added up all of our individual tickets it was only $230 and that was included with tax. She proceeded to argue and tell us to not come back and that it was our fault for her misunderstanding. When she tried to redo the tab the numbers went up again and the new tab was $389 which doesn't make any sense. If I never looked at the tab in detail I wouldn't have known that they overcharged us over $100 for items that weren't ours. She was very rude and saying why should she have to accommodate to the customers. Make sure you check your tabs in detail and pay for what you order. We are lucky we don't live in this area to ever come here again. Shake my head, what a disappointing place. read more

First time here and pretty impressed. I was not accepting this gem to be located on a quite street in Kent. There are a lot of windows and it is very spacious. Stopped by for a treat on Sunday morning early. Bought 3 chocolate croissants, one almond croissant and one bear claw. $20! That is crazy expensive for very average pastries. Chocolate croissants were lacking chocolate, almond croissant had barely almond inside - mainly on the outside and bear claw (just like almond croissant) was super dry - did not seem fresh. I wonder if they were from the day before as I came in early. Very disappointed. $3.50 per pastry is expensive - better buy at Safeway. Not impressed for sure. It use to be good. I'm from Europe so I know what is good pastry...Wild Wheat does not meet expectation at all. read more

We really wanted to like this place. The bakery items looked amazing. Unfortunately the service was horrible. We waited maybe 30-40 min for a table which was completely fine and expected. What was not expected was that we sat for literally an hour after being seated with no drinks. This was after placing our drink order 3x's. Twice with the same server. The manager/hostess came by the third time to take our drink order and I advised this was the third time we were placing just our drink order and that we had been waiting an hour. She just said that they were busy. Waiting an hour for coffees and orange juice and having to order that three times is ridiculous. Being busy is not an excuse when you keep seating people and can't serve the people who are already seated. Why we had not walked at this point is beyond me. I think because we kept hoping they would finally get their act together. Unfortunately that didn't happen. The shame was the food came out cold. It was tasty but cold. Spent almost $50 on breakfast for two adults and a 6 year old for this kind of service. Unfortunately we won't be back :(. I say unfortunately because the baked goods looked amazing. read more

My go-to brunch place outside of downtown Seattle. The staff is always warm and welcoming, even when it's super busy. The menu provides a great selection, whether you want something savory, like an omelet or something sweet, like yummy French toast. They have a bakery section, where you can always grab and go a loaf of bread or pastry. Highly recommend! read more

Heard about the eggs Benedict here and wanted to try it out. My wife really like the eggs Benedict, I sampled and thought they were pretty good. The service was excellent and they have a nice looking bakery counter. read more

I've always passed by this place on the way to another restaurant in the area. On weekends this place is really busy..and rightfully so. We had the pleasure of dining here for breakfast and was pleased with the experience. First off the portions are huge! Others have been knocking the price of their entrees, but in all fairness they do give a ton of food. The Stolen French Toast was a winner. Comes with fresh fruit and toast. The 3 egg omlettes were big and tasty. Came with a side of potatoes, two small pieces of fruit, and toast. Coffee was nice and bold in flavor. Overall a winner and I'm a fan. I'm going to try my best to avoid this place on weekends though. Do go and try it out if you've never been here before. You'll be glad you did! read more

This little cafe is the gem of downtown Kent (yes, KENT!). They make all their baked goods in house and I've yet to try something on the menu that didn't taste fresh. While its not the most wowing experience, I give props for consistency and cozy neighborhood vibe. The brioche french toast is absolutely amazing. Pass on the mimosas. This place gets really packed really quickly, but they do take reservations and if you come early it's really easy to find a table. For some reason it always takes forever to get an espresso drink made and brought to your table... Not sure why... But that is my biggest gripe. People need their coffee in the morning! read more

I have been wanting to come here for a long time now. My brother was sort of hesitant as he had been here before and said that it was expensive for what they offer. I had read what they are about on their website and I fully support healthy good food so I still insisted we come here. As we walked in, we were greeted and taken to a table near the window (a plus for me since I don't get to see the sun often). We got the menu and every thing looked good but I was dead set on having pancakes that morning so I ordered the pancakes while my brother ordered the herbed omelet. I also had asked for coffee with cream. The gal said she would be right back with the cream, but took a good 5-10 minutes until it had arrived as I had to ask whom ever else came by as the gal helping us was clearing tables (I believe I over heard her tell the table behind us that she was new). That kinda put a damper on my expectations on a highly rated breakfast joint. I don't have to ask someone else for cream while I see my server clearing a table. There wasn't anyone else waiting to be seated and there were plenty of empty tables so I didn't see why clearing the tables were so urgent. I don't know what their policy is, maybe they are supposed to clear the tables ASAP. Regardless, I got my creamer so I was happy. Shortly after, our food arrived. I was surprised how fast that came to us. Everything looked good, especially my brother's omelet. I love red potatoes, so when I saw that he had red potatoes on the side I had to try. The were cooked well, not too mushy, and not hard. They were seasoned well, didn't need ketchup or anything. His omelet was good too! Nice, fluffy and cooked perfectly. My pancaked looked good. They were three nice and fluffy cakes with powdered sugar and cinnamon generously sprinkled on top. Nothing special though, they were whole wheat pancakes, kinda gritty but still good. The maple syrup was great because it wasn't too sweet, but I regretted not getting the fruit on top instead, that probably would have made them better and make up for the grittiness of the cakes. Overall, my brother was right, a bit over priced for what they offered. I guess you pay a little more for healthy but when I want breakfast, I want either super sweet or super savory. I may come back again just to try their pastries, that was the one thing my brother said was good. Not coming back for breakfast though, I'd rather stick to my unhealthy greasy spoon diners in Puyallup. read more

Saw on Yelp that this place was amazing. When we walked in the receptionist was very confused and frazzled. Wasn't sure where to put us. WE finally just sat down at a clean table which there weren't many of. It took a while for someone to come over with a menu and then water. THE PLACE OS VERY NOISY!! My husband had the meat omelet, it was okay. Not exceptional especially for the price. I have eggs Benedict I , when it came it looked liked they took all the food off someone else's plate scraped it onto my plate and drizzled hollandaise over the whole thing. Not very flavorful.
