Cute small restaurant in West Allis with a seed-to-table and Vietnamese fusion flair to their elevated dishes. I had it bookmarked for a while and actually wasn't aware it was Asian-fusion dishes, which made me so pleasantly surprised because it's hard to find good Asian food. The flavors overall were amazing and I would come back to try more of their dishes! ROASTED BEETS: I don't usually like beets but the mix of the blue cheese, orange and beets was actually so yummy! Would order again DUCK FAT BURGER: Couldn't really taste much besides a standard burger but the fries were really good. THAI CURRY: This was amazing! Tasted the most 'asian' out of all the dishes

Simply, yum. Everything we had was cooked to perfect. The mussels were so salty brothy & delicious. The salad was crunchy and tart with the grapefruit. Beef was perfect. Scallops were lovely. The vibe was relaxed and ambient. Would definitely come back.

This was my second time here, but my first time for lunch. I came with a couple of friends, with the goal of trying their highly praised Duck Fat Burgers, which were rated as the second-best burger in Milwaukee by Milwaukee Magazine. We were not disappointed. It was a Wednesday, and we arrived a little before noon. There were a few other people there, some at the bar and others at the small tables. The place is a little loud, with lots of hard surfaces and music playing. We were greeted by a very friendly server, who seemed to be doing pretty much everything except the cooking. There are a couple of different burgers on the menu, but we all went with the Duck Fat Burger. It is a one-third pound patty, cooked to order. My medium-rare came out exactly as I like it. The combination of caramelized onion, cheese, and thousand island was well balanced. The bun was nicely grilled, and the crunch lasted through the entire meal. The French fries were hot and flavorful, with a very crusty exterior and a soft inner texture. I talked to the cook, who let me in on the secret, they double fry them. With the exception of the noise level, it was an excellent burger experience. The service was very good (thanks, Jessica). I will definitely be coming back again.

Update: The owner must have seen my review and wrote me a very heartfelt e-mail apology. Stuff happens. We will try Wild Roots another time. *** Original: We're visiting from Florida for the Speed Skating US Olympic Team Trials. We made a reservation for Saturday, January 3. Well, surprise, surprise, the owners decided to close from January 1-5 without notifying those patrons with reservations. Wild Roots' loss is Camino's gain!

The place was nice a small restaurant but love the ambiance simple decor. Service was really excellent Jessica took care our us. Food was was American with a Vietnamese twist or is it vice versa regardless. Food was good something different to try if you're visiting the neighborhood

We had a very pleasant evening here! Haven't been back since probably 2019 when they first opened, so I was pretty excited. Casual, cute and romantic vibes. The food menu is not big but has everything from appetizers to entrees and desserts. We liked the flavorful bulgogi meatballs and vegan Thai curry noodles - absolutely perfect to enjoy on a cooler day. From our table we can see the chefs cooking. Everything was prepped and checked carefully before serving. Love love love.

My mom and I visited Wild Roots for Saturday brunch to celebrate a belated Mother's Day. We entered a relatively empty dining room around 11am and were seated right away. The space is cute and inviting, despite weird avocado walls. The flower vases on each table were accented with sweet little origami pieces. Decor was eclectic nature. Our service was solid without being intrusive. The menu is an interesting hybrid with Asian influences prominent in many dishes and many French touches. We started with cocktails. My mom's rum punch was good, but might have need a little extra punch, maybe more citrus. My Whiskey Roots was good - very Maker's forward. Somehow it managed to taste more like Makers than straight Maker's. My omelette was light and creamy and fluffy. It was truly enjoyable and very Parisian. The accompanying roast potatoes were seasoned well and didn't need any additional salt, which is amazing to me. My mother's Croque Madame special was a sight to behold - tall and impressive on the plate. She thought it was excellent. The ham was generous, perhaps even too much, and the sauce as cheesy and rich. The egg cooked perfectly, she really enjoyed her meal as well. We certainly intend to go back and try another meal at Wild Roots.

Called on a busy Friday night and we were able to snag a 5:30pm reservation. Our server was great - knowledgeable and sweet. We had a tiny tin offer for a free app, so we started with the meatballs. Good flavor and nice start to the meal. I had a mixed drink and my friend appreciated the wine list. We both ordered the curry for our main dishes, mine with shrimp and hers with chicken. Again, very fresh and flavorful. I would recommend the shrimp over the other protein choices. Finished our meal with a skillet cookie. Sleek and comfortable atmosphere. Prices were elevated but worth the quality. Excited to return with my husband!

I'm surprised I haven't heard more people talk about Wild Roots! It was a busy little spot Friday night. Small, curated menu with lots of meat and veggie options. The nasty bits were a fun try for the table. Excited to go back to check out their other menus.

This was a special they had.

Our server, Adam, was quick and attentive. He was funny, suggested items for us to try, and was very tentative of our friend's food allergy. We started the night with a few drinks; #39 non-alcoholic Paloma, #129 non-alcoholic sbagiato, and #33 Sherry Pear-Y. All of which were absolutely amazing! Then we ordered the Chili Crisp Deviled Eggs (comes with two pieces), Crispy Thai-Style Oyster Mushrooms, Cappelletti, Slow-braised Bison Cheek, Cha Ca La Vong (Catfish), and the Wood-fired Bavette Steak. Where do I begin? First off, everything was fantastic! Delicious, creative, and memorable. Some dishes even had us ordering seconds! First the Chili Crisp Deviled Eggs: so creamy! We ended up ordering another plate of them (four orders) because one wasn't enough for the four of us. The Crispy Thai-Style Oyster Mushroom: insanely seasoned! It was crispy and the kick of the Thai chili peppers, made it our tables favorite (we ordered another plate of this)! The bits of crunch rice mixed in was also a pleasant surprise. The bits of green beans and cucumber was a nice way to cool the kick of the spices. The Slow-braised Bison Cheek: It was very interesting. Very soft and when paired with the polenta cake, mozzarella, and carrot, it tasted amazing. Cha Ca La Vong (Catfish): Also very interesting. It tastes very similar to a Vietnamese catfish soup! The pineapple fish sauce paired amazing with the glass noodles. The only complaint I have about this dish, was that the glass noodles weren't fully cooked, so they were a bit hard. The Wood-fired Bavette Steak: My god, this was amazing! It was perfectly cooked, the dark chocolate bordelaise paired with the mushrooms and steak was incredible. Like I said, everything was amazing! Our table was blown away with the creativity and quality of the food. The service was amazing, everyone was very sweet and helpful. The atmosphere was lovely and quirky. It was fun spotting all the duck decorations. Honestly, cannot rave enough about this place, I look forward to the next time I visit!

They were excited we were there, and our server (or maybe it was the host) confirmed we had stumbled into the "best restaurant in Milwaukee." Okay! The cocktail menu was adventurous, and the Rickety Skeleton I ordered (that's a cocktail name...no actual bones were brought to the table) was truly delicious and did the job of making me very happy. I'm a sucker for mezcal or anything smoky, and this lived up to my Southern California standards for such a creation. The service was outstanding and super friendly. The atmosphere was great too...We might have been able to get a table if we walked in, but the place was almost full (so lively vibe), and glad we had a reservation. The food was good. Overall, I thought almost everything we got was a bit oversalted, which distracted me from what might have been the unique flavors of the dishes. We shared Mushroom Fricassee - might as well get a restaurant name-sake dish. It looked beautiful, but the mushrooms were a bit too salty. The Ricotta Gnudi was gorgeous and tasted good, especially with the pea mint broth it rested on...but this also felt a little salt-heavy. We also shared bread service, which may have been my favorite part of what we got...several different house-made breads with, very salty butter. I love a good salted butter, but even this seemed like a little too much. I'm not against salt, but it just felt like it killed what could have been truly elevated flavors in these dishes. We closed with Almond Goat Cheese Cheesecake...I mean, how could we not...this was perfect. We appreciated a lot about Morel and are glad we went, but wish the dishes we got were a little less salt-heavy.

My food experience at this location was a bit better than other locations I've tried and makes me excited to come back to try more items. Like other locations, there is plenty of parking and interior resembles a more upscale sports bar. Service is relatively quick despite how busy they are and prices are pretty fair for the quality of food. I started my meal off with Poke Nachos, one of four that I've had in the last few months and this was possibly the best of the bunch. This had a good amount of raw ahi tuna (though a few more chunks would be nice) and added some additional flavors through nori and sesame seeds so that it was a bit less sauce dependent than other versions I've tried. The wontons were super crispy and avocado was nice and creamy. The mix of serranos, white truffle sauce, sweet soy ginger sauce, sriracha aioli, cilantro, and green onions all mixed together to create a great flavor. I was very impressed with the amount of flavor packed into a dish that's only 880 calories. The crispy traditional wings were also cooked nicely, the skin was nice and crispy while the meat was not overcooked. The buffalo sauce was a bit light for me, though good if you aren't looking for something that's too tangy or spicy. The Korean chili garlic had the right level of sweetness mixed with a good amount of garlic flavor and a light level of spiciness. This is one of the better preparations I've had outside of Korean Fried Chicken specialist restaurants. For entrees the Ahi Tuna Crunchy salad is one of the better versions of this dish that I've had as well. The field greens, broccoli slaw, and crispy wontons were a nice base with the soy vinaigrette -- but the star of the dish was the seared rare and blackened ahi tuna. Super flavorful and prepared just right, this was better than the steak I had eaten for lunch and again a very healthy way to pack a lot of flavor into a low number of calories. On the flipside, the kurobata pork sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I've had so far this year. The berkshire pork isn't super fatty, but just enough to have a great level of tenderness and flavor when grilled. The candied bacon, white american cheese, and house-made blueberry ketchup did a fantastic job of adding some saltiness and just a bit of extra fat (without seeming excessive) and giving the dish just a little acid. The total combination worked perfectly in harmony and is worth making a special trip to eat again. I ended the meal with the S'more brownie meltdown. This was done well -- with a nice fudge brownie that had great chocolate flavor and matched perfectly with the graham cracker toffee. This would've been the highlight of the dish, had it not been for the delicious combination of the marshmallow gelato and dark chocolate sauce. I'm not a giant fan of marshmallows, but this gelato was amazing and tied everything together perfectly. Overall, an unexpectedly great experience from a restaurant chain that I've gone to many times. Without a doubt, I know which location to take my friends and family to for special meals in the future.

Our server Lindsey was new but they were absolutely amazing! We ordered the Brussel sprouts as an aappetizer and they were very tasty with the Gochujang sauce. It was crispy without being burnt. We ordered fish and chips, mix n match tacos, chicken and pancakes and everyone seemed to enjoy what they ate. They also do a little something special for your bday. Parking is not big enough so you have to get lucky. If you're big on beer this is the place ro go to try lots of different options. They also have a good happy hour which is why it was packed when we made it a little after.
