This is arguably the best breakfast sandwich in Milwaukee! The bagel was toasted perfectly and still somehow very soft and cheesy on the inside. And came with eggs, veggies, tomato slice, two types of cheese. The flavors are incredible, and the cheese is perfectly melted. You get to pick the type of bagel you want, and I believe all the bagels are made in house. The service is quick understanding that your food is made to order so you might have to wait five or so minutes. The weight is absolutely worth it! They have a variety of iced coffees and I have tried a couple that all live up to the hype! The place itself is small and very cute so you can sit and work or study if needed. First time here. Came with a friend. It's a cute place. The exterior is painted white brick with a floral mural on the south side. There is a rooftop patio that gets you off street level, and on a nice day you can enjoy the sun and fresh air (unless they are cooking something in the oven, and you get the amazing smells that are coming out of the vents). Inside there are several small tables or a counter with seats that face out the front window. The inside design is bright and friendly. Was excited to see all the amazing looking pastries, cookies, and rolls in the case. So with all this goodness in mind, I was a little taken aback by the greeting I got from the male cashier/barista. He appeared grumpy and curt. One of the things I asked for (and I always do) is extra foam with my London Fog Tea Latte. He just flat out said it couldn't be done (because they use a concentrate and not tea bags), but I know that's not the case and have had that before. Now, if you are reading this, you might be thinking, "get over it." However, it was my first time here, and the exchange between us was very strained. After ordering my London Fog, with an amazing looking Apricot Almond Scone, we grabbed a small table. After a little wait, they brought my beverage, and it was very good, and it had extra foam! Nice job! However, I had asked to have my scone warmed up, and it never came. I could actually see it sitting on the kitchen counter, and I asked someone if they could bring it out, which they apologized for. The scone was as amazing as it looked -- warm, nice texture, with almonds and icing on top. There is a lot to like about this place. Great atmosphere, with excellent products. However, the service that I got on this particular (first) visit was not great. I would stop again to see if it was any better the next time. This could easily go from a 4 to 5 star review :) P.S. Everyone can have a bad day. However, when I checked out some other reviews, I noticed a few others that mentioned the service, and I wonder if this is something that needs to be attended to? read more

This place is great. I was in town visiting my parents, we had bagels and coffee. The bagels were soft and lightly toasted. I just got four shots of espresso over ice and it was delicious. I ended up buying 2 bags of coffee to take back to CA. Service was exactly what you would expect coming to WI very friendly and attentive. Can't wait to check it out again next summer! read more

This is a great family run spot in West Allis area that has a ton of delicious pastries and food to try! The staff were super kind and despite there being a decent number of people in the small store, the line moved fast and service was quick! I got a bagel sandwich(not pictured) with avocado, Cookie butter brioche sweet bun, and the maple bacon scone, along with an iced latte. They were all great and super tasty. Love this cute and cozy cafe! It's a great spot in our West Allis neighborhood. Everyone who works there is polite and helpful! This place seems like it's always busy. Luckily, we live close and can walk in whenever! There is a cute rooftop dining area and several places to sit inside. They have baked goods like cookies, cinnamon rolls, and scones. Certain items are available on certain days. They also have a small breakfast and lunch cafe menu, as well as lots of coffee choices. The egg and cheese bagel sandwich with bacon jam is so tasty! My favorites so far include the bacon Parmesan scone and the fresh loaves of bread (sourdough is amazing). I'm not a fan of the cinnamon rolls, but that's just me! There's always a line right when they open on the days they have them. A lot of the baked goods are gluten free and vegan friendly. Options for everyone! What a charming little spot in West Allis! Came here for the first time recently on a Saturday morning. It's a small space but we were able to get a table. Looks like they may have rooftop seating for warmer months, so excited to come back and enjoy that on a sunny morning. I ordered one of their specialty lattes made with almond milk, which was solid. I also ordered the egg and cheese breakfast bagel on an asiago bagel which was also solid. I noticed and was intrigued by the ricotta toast and excited to try that next time. I try to get my bread there Sundays a few times a month! This past Sunday the Baker's Choice sourdough was spinach artichoke and I have to say it was the best bread I have ever eaten !! I always get a loaf of reg sourdough of their Baker's Choice and I freeze 1/2 and it lasts me awhile but this will be gone . Highly recommend buying their bread, their savory scones are delicious as well and they are super friendly !! Go there!! read more

I wanted to stop at The Bread Peddlers and pickup a cinnamon roll at a minimum, but they had sold out by the time I got there (11:15am) on a busy looking Sunday morning. Not want to leave empty handed, I bought a lemon pie scone and an orange cheesecake cookie. The cookie was very thick and looked almost scone like. I could lightly taste the orange and I assume the cheesecake part came from the frosting drizzled on top because nothing inside the cookie was cheesecake-like. It was fine, but probably not something I'd get again. The lemon pie scone had awesome lemon flavor. I'm a big fan of lemon flavored baked goods like bars and cookies, so I say it with some level of expertise that this scone is as good as cookies and bars elsewhere. It was dairy free, too, for anyone that needs to be dairy free. I look forward to trying a cinnamon roll on a future visit and will arrive before 10am next time like the guy filling my order recommended. read more

I've had Bread Peddler's on my list of places to try for a while now, so I decided to walk there since it's just over a mile from where I'm staying. When I walked in, I found it to be much smaller than I had anticipated. There are about four bar seats by the windows and three tables for people to sit at. When the tables are occupied, it can feel a bit cramped when trying to order because there's really only room for one person in line at a time. I ordered the seasonal drink, which had extra ice, and it was truly delicious. The espresso they use is high-quality, and you can really taste it in the beverage. Moving upstairs to their rooftop was a lovely escape. They have lawn chairs, sofas, and picnic tables with umbrellas, providing a nice reprieve from the heat. Overall, I would definitely recommend visiting Bread Peddler's if you've never been there before. I look forward to going back to try more than just a drink, as they have a variety of food available as well. The only improvement I would suggest is to expand the indoor space, as they can probably accommodate fewer than 15 people inside at a time. read more

This is by far one of my favorites near the city based on service, coffee, and food. The storefront is tiny, unless they have the rooftop open (huge plus!). The staff are so sweet and take the time to get to know you. The lattes are so tasty, plus they have a variety of syrups if you wanted to add flavor to your coffee drinks. The food is TO. DIE. FOR. I don't know who is back there baking, but damn they are on POINT! I literally crave their breads all of the time, which vary weekly. You can never go wrong with their sourdough. Their breakfast Sammy on a homemade bagel with bacon jam is a must have Their baked goods tend to vary based on availability and the week. The bagel bites were tasty, but I recommend that they heat them up if you are dining in. We also tried their pizza roll (?), it's hard to explain but omg it was delicious. If you have never had their pizza sourdough loaf I highly recommend, but this is not an everyday item. My family and I go here like 3-4x a month. The sisters who own the shop are THE SWEETEST!! And Devin the barista is amazing, he greets everyone that comes in with a smile on his face and gets to know you, as if you are family. Love this little Cafe in west allis. This was started by a set of pro cycling sisters and I just can't get enough of their goodies. The cinnamon buns are to die for (don't miss them on Sundays) and they also carry treats and products from other local vendors (like the half pound cookie sandwich from BB cakery). The ambience of the Cafe is cozy, the treats are reasonably priced and the staff is friendly. Keep the Bread Pedalers on your list the next time you visit west allis. read more

This Locally owned bread shop is amazing for bread, scones, cookies and service. This is a bread shop not a bakery. Expect the aroma of fresh baked breads and scones not cakes and pies. However, they do have a few delicious cookies and Gluten free scone and bread options. There is a board announcing the bread specials for the week so that you can plan accordingly. I have stopped in 2 days in a row to get the bread of the day. Very good stuff. The staff is very friendly, helpful and patient. With so many flavors of scones and cookies in the case, breads of the day and coffee options I need a minute to calm down the urge to pick one of each. I did have a missing scone in my order when I got home on the first visit. The next day I went back to get my fresh roasted apple and Gouda sourdough. I mentioned the missing scone but I did not have a receipt to prove my purchase. Staff happily said "Oh I'm so sorry I'll give you what you ordered and have this cookie on me. No worries." Wow! Now that comes from being locally owned and customer oriented. If you like a great sourdough, savory scones, giant cookies, or need GF options I suggest you give this place a try. Homey I stopped in during their soft launch for bakery and again this weekend for some bread. These ladies are wowing in West Allis. They had posted last week about some jalapeño cheddar loaves that looked fantastic. I was too slow and they were sold out but offered to put one aside this week. I arrived shortly after opening and there was quite a line formed inside. The space inside is small and nicely decorated with seating for a few, but they offer a gorgeous rooftop to enjoy a slow morning above. The bakery on my first stop was delish, they've taken their time to perfect recipes. I look forward to cutting into their bread for dinner. Friendly service. We arrived shortly after they opened on a Packer Sunday and there was already a stream of folks coming and going through their chic West Allis establishment. The sourdough bread was hot out of the oven, the cayenne cheddar scone warmed our insides on a cold WI day and the melt in your mouth, chocolate flourless cake slice was on point and definitely our fav! My husband and I ate at the Bread Pedalers for the first time. Coffee was great and the food was high quality. I got an Americano and an egg sandwich on a rosemary bagel. We had been wanting to try Ruby's bagels, so we were excited to see the partnership! My husband got a peppermint mocha and the turkey feta sandwich on sourdough. Both were delicious! We grabbed a couple of scones to take home, too. The gluten-free cookies & cream looked too good to pass up! While the experience wasn't perfect, it was still enjoyable overall. Great little location, limited seating, but very welcoming. The menu was somewhat limited since they were in between seasonal offerings and some items were out of stock. However, the person who helped us went above and beyond, taking the time to explain what was available and recommending options to try. Their helpfulness really stood out and made the ordering process smooth. We ended up trying three drinks--two seasonal coffees and a hot chocolate--and everything was delicious! The service and the quality of the food and drinks were excellent. I'll definitely come back and hope to see a fuller menu next time. The cutest bakery! There's a reason why this place is bustling even on a weekday. Pros: - Decor is so cute! Love the mural outside and the minimal aesthetic inside - Shop owners are the sweetest. So friendly and welcoming to everyone. - Decent variety of the essential baked goods. I only got one thing so can't really comment much on the pastries. Got the pizza scone which was pretty decent and well priced. The owners were kind enough to warm it for me and brought it straight to my table. Cons: - Seating is very minimal. Can't wait for the weather to get warmer and for the outdoor rooftop patio to open! They've recently expanded the menu by adding a breakfast menu, so I'll definitely be back to try more.
